I feel like OG Dragon Ball, as time goes by, will feel more nostalgic and heart-warming as it drew inspiration from the Chinese legend of the Monkey King, featuring mythical creatures, dragons, and Goku’s tail, flying Nimbus, and staff, all reflecting the Monkey King’s traits. It focused on action and adventure, with quests to find the magical Dragon Balls that grant wishes. In contrast, Dragon Ball Z shifted to a more action-oriented tone, emphasizing battles based on power levels rather than the classic adventure tone of when it was beginning. Akira Toriyama likely intended this tonal shift to appeal to a more mature audience in a way, letting the series grow up with its readers while still retaining some of the series' chaotic charm.
OG Dragon Ball has always felt like reading a great adventure book or playing an amazing, comfy JRPG. It was Avatar the last airbender before it Avatar ever existed. Dragon Ball has gone off the rails. It's really just about 'my new form can beat up your new form' now. I used to think the Buu saga was pretty wild in that department, but it has reached truly ridiculous heights with Super. There also seems to be no real meaningful direction to the story or character development, it's just, "A NEW FOE HAS EMERGED.. AGAIN.. AND HE IS KILLING PEOPLE FOR FUN..CAN GOKU DEFEAT HIM WITH HIS NEW FORM (that's the narrator voice)??This series is just old and played out now, not to mention predictable. They should have just stuck to movie features.
Honestly, your right as hell! Dragon Ball Super, Goku has Ultra Instinct as just another form, and he’s too OP. I watched Goku vs DKP and Goku vs Jiren and the DKP fight just hit more with where Goku didn’t transform and just used all that he learned, especially that stomach kick DKP recieved
@SpectreStatus I agree. I don't hate Z or even Super. But the direction they took things after OG to me is just not as good for the exact reasons you mentioned. I really wish DB kept going in the directions of OG DB.

Holy shit, one of the few video essays where i agree with everything thats being said😭. Such a shame it doesn't get much attention as its also my favorite part of the story. One of my biggest nitpicks too was when goku gave up the power pole... It's such a simple weapon but lead to such creative action, I'm so glad they brought it back for daima.
It’s crazy when Dragon Ball fans fight for the fact that Dragon Ball has a story, yet they’ll be honest and admit they’ve never seen the original series but continue to say it tells an amazing story when you don’t even know half of the original material? 😂
I don't agree that DB is better than DBZ, because I felt so much more emotionally invested due to the constantly high stakes, but DB is definitely so underrated. DB was so more fun reading and watching than DBZ. You stated every reason I love DB. The characters are so freaking adorable, funny af, and serious at times when it matters.
I was 6 in 1999 when I found DBZ. I didn't fully watch og DB until I was 22. Id seen episodes on Toonami and while I watch Z and it's dripping in nostalgia, Dragonball gives me a heart warming sense of familiarity, despite not having nearly the attachment to it I had to DBZ as a youth. Now a decade later OG might be my favorite, then Z, GT, and Super
Having recently looked back at both OG Dragon Ball and Z, I absolutely agree. Dragon Ball was really fun and different. DBZ had its high points, but it was all about fighting and power-ups. The sense of fantasy and adventure (post-Namek, anyway) was completely gone and old characters we came to enjoy were shafted in favor of characters introduced by Z.
DBZ was not just about fighting and power ups that’s how they started telling the story and themes. You ppl describe dbz like you watched it with your brain Half way working.
Thats why sometimes we say you have to read something twice. Shame if you saw nothing but fights and power ups if you read the Z portion of Dragon Ball. It offers a lot more.
My cat as a kid was called Meow Pai-Pai, for sheer epic factor. And he did end up being an assassin. Also, I never even knew Z existed back in the Balkans. We started with DB, and we loved it. Fully agree with this video.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO MENTION THE COMEDY. One of the best jokes I heard was when in the manga Master Roshi wants to give Goku a phoenix, so he asks what it is and they explain to him that it's a bird that never dies, ONLY FOR THEY TO MENTION IN THE NEXT PANEL THAT THE PHOENIX DIED FROM POISONING LAST YEAR. IT'S PURE COMEDY
It’s especially impactful when you realize that in the manga, “OG Dragon Ball” refers to the entire original series. As in, Gokū’s first meeting with Bulma to Gokū flying away with Uub. There is no “Dragon Ball Z” to compare it to; it’s just one insane, wonderful story.
Always glad to meet some like minded people.:) DBZ is neat, but the original Dragon Ball is just so much more entertaining for me with it's bigger focus on light-hearted adventures rather than revolving about beating a specific villian (Even if that's what the last two OG DB arcs also revolve about lul) as well as me just generally enjoy Toriyama's comedic writing more than his serious stories.
Toriyama drawing sick looking vehicles because he had to work instead of building his models... at least I assume this I remember that Dr. Slump panel where he showed like 30+ unbuilt model cars in his office.
The world-building felt larger in OG DB which fell off a bit when going into Z. I know a lot of people who went back to watch OG after going through Z, great video might have to re-read dragon ball again lol.
8:25 we are introduced to Gohan in Z so we basically get the same experience he does to the story. A bunch of the other characters are killed off or left on earth when they go to Namek anyway. The story doesn’t really care that much
I, too, like Dragonball's two halves equally (good because it's the whole story😅), but goodness, I'd be disappointed if a new fan would miss out on Goku learning to grow up. A small moment I love from the Red Ribbon Arc is Goku learning to find Bulma in the city and just handing out money to a girl who helps. So innocent~
Always felt like og dragonball was more mysterious and spectacular, it really drew upon your imagination. Master Roshi's extreme training style, a talking cat carrying mystical water, and demons were green people with weird anteni, even Goku's monkey like origins were a mystery. While dbz does do well with expanding upon these concepts it did somewhat feel more grounded and didn't have that much mystery, 2 arcs in and Goku's already challenging the upper echelon of the entire universe, the emperor of the universe himself, and the demons themselves were already explained to be "namekians" and Goku's heritage is fully explained and delved into deeper, questions were answered and newer questions weren't really posed all too often. While I myself prefer the more expanded upon dbz, I can completely understand why someone would prefer the more mystical og dragon ball.
Haven't watched your video yet but before I do I just wanted to say I like Dragon Ball more than Z as well. Backstory on the matter if you're interested: As a little kid in the mid 90s, my dad takes me into the bedroom to show me what he has on the tv, Goku and Vegeta doing their famous beam struggle, and from then on I was hooked. Loved DBZ growing up, and from time to time my dad and I would watch it together. As a young adult, I decided to watch OG Dragon Ball and realized I liked it more. Quite a few years later, I somehow ended up in a situation where my dad and I had the time to spend together, and I convinced him to sit and watch the entire Dragon Ball series with me. Took a couple months, but we did it. After we finished the last episode, I asked him if he liked it more than Z, and he agreed also that it was better. Now I'm eager to see your reasoning! Time to hit play.
Enjoying Og dragon ball is like enjoying part 1 Naruto, you'll get flack from the fan boys of the sequel series, and the story feels more attentive on the og one
Z is still better tho Edit: both halfes are the same when you go to the OG source(the Manga), so if you wanna classify Z, i personally say it's when Goku becomes an adult
This is probably an extremely hot take, but I also really missed the fights from og dragonball and think og dragonball has some of the best fights. I love Z, don't get me wrong, but Goku was moving different as a kid. I think my favourite moment from him was his fight against old king piccolo, where he uses his tail to wrap around his wrist and swings on his arm like a treebranch. He really feels like a monkey. Tao too was really fun, watching Goku be utterly outclassed, usually he uses his smaller size to his advantage against bigger opponents, but Tao was just just casually picking him apart. That moment where Goku lunges from behind and he smoothly dodges it and whips Goku to the ground with his braid was so great. It's criminal that he's so forgotten, to the point where he's not in Sparking Zero.
@@KumoBear12 For sure, both of them though I def like the first one more, I also think the piccolo jr vs goku fight is unreasonably good too, it's crazy well animated. I think it also does a lot of work to establish Goku as the junkyard dog he is in Z, it's the first time he let someone like Piccolo live. King Piccolo really got no mercy, but even more damaged than he was vs King Piccolo he still spares him so that he can fight him again in the future. Tien and Piccolo Jr's path from evil to good were peak in general
Because it was an on somble piece with multiple characters of different motivations powers and style of doing things. And didn’t makes an active serial killer’s the main character

OG Dragonball is also DBZ. The original Dragonball manga is the 42 tomes. They only added the Z for the anime when they got a new better staff to work on it. There is no Z in the manga, it’s US invention.
Good point and video sir. For me personally, og DB kinda isn't full without Z, without some powerscales, without hairy muscular aryan men. But I feel I'd like to change some moments, to make Z more dramatic and serious, cuz sometimes it wasn't. Won't talk about super, but will talk about Dragon Ball kakumei. Maybe you heard about it. This fan manga just surpassed for me whole Super and it's disadvantages. Yeah there's also some cliche moments, but it's good, it's something new, some movement. Artstyle it's an another level. I'm reading it 2 years and I'm still excited what's will be next, and story isn't even in the middle, it's like only starting.
I give respect to Toriyama for giving Dragon ball one of the biggest changes in anime history. He basically made Goku not really the mc anymore (Goku took more of a backseat in the story), made it about aliens, and made it more fighting and intense He changed everything about the story…and then DBZ became way more popular than OG dragon ball. Respect to Toriyama.
If you look at the weekly viewership of DB (1986-1989) vs DBZ (1989-1996) DB had higher averages and peak viewers, DB was more popular by number of people watching.
dragon ball is so awesome i love it it is so cool. part of the reason i love it so much is that i can legitimately tell when and where toriyama drew from the original journey to the west, which is amazing
power pull is probably my favorite example of this actually, because in jttw, wukong takes it from ao guangs kingdom of the east sea. like he just straight up steals a pillar within his castle. and in db, its a connection to kami (god) and a pillar connecting it to korins tower. it's one of my favorite connections its so?? awesome
I agree with this completely, as a kid I grew up on DBZ. And only watched Original DB in my late teens. Only recently had I finally picked up the manga and read through all of DB and DBZ and Dragon Ball just hit so perfectly and I love it more than DBZ despite how much I love DBZ as well.
(0:20) Funny how everyone in the comments calls it OG Dragon Ball 😆. I agree we should just call it " DB" or "Ball" since we call the others by their last part as well (Z, GT etc)
Toriyama was a comedy writer at heart, while still balancing that with drama and the simple but profound themes after the first arc. But I feel that got lost when it became more consistently gritty around Namek/Androids. Probably part of why so many that for some reason still don't go back to that part of the story find the more chill beginning of Buu jarring. Though its why i love that portion, plus the more slice of ventures of Super and the tournament of power. The characters are also why, like you said, he does a great job keeping much of the regular cast plenty relevant, or at least fun to have on screen when they are, until the story becomes Saiyan Central with occasional Piccolo highlights lol. I do also just prefer much of the artstyle and designs he had going early on. That more round style that's also in Dr. Slump is Toriyama at his best imo. And Goku with a tail is forever peak. Also there's no reason to not have Launch be a regular presence just hanging out with the crew anymore, we get it, he forgot haha, man forgot a lot, but surely Toyotaro and Toei wouldn't have that issue I'm just saying
As someone that started rewatching the of Dragonball months ago, I wholeheartedly agree with this video. Also I like Daima a lot so far, hopefully you will as well ^^
Why does youtube keep recommending me this kid’s videos? *DRAGON BALL AND DRAGON BALL Z ARE ONE CONTINUOUS SERIES.* Stop this BS. This is like saying chapter 1-5 of harry potter is better than chapter 6-10. No one does that, they judge the book as a whole. This is pure stupidity. Just stop making videos about Dragon Ball and stick to JJK or whatever new trash you know more about. You are not qualified to talk about Dragon Ball. You haven’t even watched the whole series. You are just being a contrarian repeating talking points you saw others saying online. Constantly doing this nonsense isn’t going to get you a higher sub count.
I can tell you didnt watch the video. The guy literally said he loves Z and has watched GT and Super with the only show he hasnt watched yet being daima due to wait for the english dub. And yes dragon ball and dragon ball z is one continious story ALTHOUGH when it comes to community of dragon ball its always divided since db and dbz story are very different with db focusing more on being an action adventure comedy , focusing on world building and characters, as well as development of goku physically, mentally, and emotionally, whereas dbz focuses on fast paced action with higher stakes. Theirs a reason why some unfortunate fans skip db saying thats its too slow or boring. Cus most of the time they geew up on Z and Super Also why are you gatekeeping someone who has already seen most of dragon ball (as stated in the video), from talking about dragon ball, literally he gave his own reasons why he likes dragon ball more than Z. Is he not allowed to have his own opinion on a series that he pretty much grew up on? Is he not allowed differentiate from db and dbz and choose one over the other? Literally your fomment makes no sense
He didn’t grow up with it, he’s a gen z 🤡. I called him out on the last BS video and told him he didn’t even watch the whole dragon ball series if he would say “GT felt more like Dragon Ball than Super.” and the guy didn’t respond with “Yeah, I watched it.”, he responded saying something about how he read the manga. In my experience, when you call a gen z kid out about not watching the anime they are acting like they’re experts on, they always reply with “Of course I didn’t “watch” it, I read it!” It’s a DAMN lie. He didn’t read it or watch it. Why would he not watch Daima? The dub has already started. *HE DIDNT WATCH DAIMA BECAUSE HE IS TRYING TO COMPLETE THE MAIN DRAGON BALL SERIES.* 🤣😂😂 As far as Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z communities being different, there are no Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z communities. The only different groups that exist are Dragon Ball fans, and CASUAL fans. Dragon Ball fans judge the series as a whole, casual fans split them apart. It’s popular with casuals to say things like “DRAGON BALL IS BETTER THAN DRAGON BALL Z!” Because Z is the more popular part of the series that blew everything up and the early episodes are less known. Saying the early part is better gives you internet contrarian hipster points, validation, and views. In reality he knows nothing about Dragon Ball as a whole which is why he keeps saying dumb ish. He’s just looking for views by saying controversial stuff he saw in the comment sections.
Just a example, when the arale filler episode came out in super ,many people Didnt knew who she was . From that moment you can spot who were true dragon ball fans and those who begin with Z . Arale is canon to dragon ball, Goku did came to Pingouin village when he pursuit General Blue.
I'm super thrown off by the sudden super HQ footage of kid goku in his GT outfit with purple haired young Bulma, where is that from? Imo the world of DB feels magical and larger then life. There's talking animals and all characters have something to do or can contribute in someway. In DBZ suddenly the world is a normal world? where flying and stuff is weird? Despite everything seen in DB? And there's talking animals? But flying is where they draw the line? With the introduction of Saiyans all other characters that are NOT saiyan get boring, they can't transform. And to me DBZ is boring because all it really is is "Wow this villain is super strong the power level is off the charts we stand no chance!" and then they ask the villain if they can get some time to train and the villain is like "Sure no problem! Its more FUN that way" and then they train, get so strong that they beat the villain and then a new villain arrive and the new villain beats the heroes easily! and then they ask the villain if its ok if they train and the villain is like "Okay its more fun that way" and then they train and maybe get a new transformation, and beat the villain maybe easily, but then a new villain shows up and beats the new form easily! and they ask if its ok if they train and the villain is like "okay" and it repeats like that.
It's from Path to power. I tried to use as much varying footage and images of this part of the series as possible, as I don't think the original anime holds up all that well, and manga panels would get a bit boring to look at lol.
When I was a lot younger I watched dragon ball super, only one day, yet your totally right, you need a story, because I didn’t know who the hell this angle dude, with a humanoid cat and two guys had to do with anyhting
This is called “being different for the sake of being different” this video is the same as those people who split their tongues and get horns implanted
I completely agree about a lot of the main cast being wrongfully pushed aside. It is honestly terrible. How much disrespect those guys have gotten over the years compared to the Saiyans. I had seen some clips of Dragon Ball Z but I told myself if I was going to start the series I would start from the very beginning with OG Dragon Ball and of course I didn’t regret it. It was so much fun watching the beginning and how we got into DBZ, but the same time it was really kind of sad concerning the OG boys. Watching how determined and confident a lot of them were to get stronger than Goku was great.
Not watching pre Z is also kind of just an american thing. In mexico for example they also got og dragon ball and also think people are wild for skipping
In the US, we got Z before we got DB, because they figured Z would sell better. It wasn't until Z was well established on Toonami that Funimation did an English dub of DB. I didn't get to watch as much of DB as I did Z, because DB would air at 4PM, so I could only catch it if I finished my schoolwork fast enough.
I’ve always loved dbz, GT, & super but never watched the OG cuz I thought it would’ve aged bad but I’ve started watching it this year and it’s honestly great. Goku is so enjoyable and the cast feels like actual individuals. Other than the amount of times the pedo/rape jokes happen and the times they draw gokus baby wein every other episode. It’s honestly peak. Even tho I knew Goku doesn’t die I still teared up when roshi had to put him down in his ozaru form
OG Dragon Ball screams Toriyama, you can see that he was living with children when he was writting Goku and Oolong and Kame reminds me a lot of his self-drawing where he is reading dirty magazines lol
Once OGDB ended, I just kept rewatching it instead of trying to follow Z..... As a kid, kid Gohan frustrated me immensely.... He is just always wimpering...
Fun fact: there is no dbz in the manga The original run span from Chapter 1 ("og" dragon ball) all the way to Ch. 325 (the 10 year time skip at the end of the buu arc). The "z" was an anime thing
Nice video but I just hard disagree, its definitely preference but I felt the ''Z era'' had far better character writing, development of characters and story as a whole. With that being said, it isn't complete with ''OGDB'' or the first 194 chapters, I usually just refer to it as DB the manga, sense its not a separate story, and only so in the anime variation.
Honestly, after I got to the one piece time skip I really started to rethink time skips in general. They’re just not always iconic or as memorable or well written as their original part 1’s. When you get to the time skips, they become more popular but more flaws are added! More characters are added, some you care about and some you don’t, but the world expands way too large to the point where nobody knows what is going on anymore after several years have passed in part 2! But I’m talking about from a writing perspective, we should always love our favorite series regardless of its flaws. But I’m just saying noticing the difference is so obvious when you get to the time skip.
I agree with One Piece getting worse in timeskip, but I believe Dragon Ball gets better in Z and gets worse after that. Remember, in the manga Z doesn’t exist it’s just one story line.
Hey bro, if you see my comment can you let me know how or where to access dragon ball in this quality? 2:30 I would really appreciate it! 🙏🏾I can only watch the rest past ep 68 in completely blurry quality.
To me OG Dragon Ball will always be the better series story wise plus it relies less on transformations for their epic battles but I’ll always love DBZ either way. I’ve always felt that it would was the better written series and I agree Kid Goku fr is Adorable and this first series is the funniest too 😂
Same, Dragon Ball never gets the same recognition that Z does because it's "slow and not action-packed as Z." It disappoints me when people skip Dragon Ball just to get to Z Toriyama probably would've been disappointed if he heard that fans skip Dragon Ball and only watched Z Also, the story is so much better when you start with Dragon Ball
Kid DB and DBZ are both part of the same og manga, it's just that the later sagas Saiyan to Buu were released earlier by the name DBZ otherwise they are the same continuation of the same manga, GT and Super are separate and different, the earlier arcs if DB were released later the later arcs released earlier and only anime refers to it as DBZ by Americans, everything from Goku and Bulma hunting dragonballs to Goku defeating Kid Buu happened in Dragon Ball it's the same later spin off GT and sequel Super were released, go educate yourself gen z child!

@@0vern9KHe wasn’t even talking about Z lmao. I was gonna say you haven’t watched DB but you haven’t even fully read the comment 😂
I love the OG DB and prefer it over the other series but this take sucks.
Z is better cope
does z not have a good story or something?

I don't agree that DB is better than DBZ, because I felt so much more emotionally invested due to the constantly high stakes, but DB is definitely so underrated. DB was so more fun reading and watching than DBZ. You stated every reason I love DB. The characters are so freaking adorable, funny af, and serious at times when it matters.
I agree Original DB is better and underrated it doesn't get enough hype that's why I'm reading the manga
Yeah db is better
That’s probably why he made daima
DBZ was not just about fighting and power ups that’s how they started telling the story and themes. You ppl describe dbz like you watched it with your brain Half way working.
@@0vern9K people like you only cry about shit like let the person have their opinion they're not forcing you to like z stop being such a cry baby
Thats why sometimes we say you have to read something twice. Shame if you saw nothing but fights and power ups if you read the Z portion of Dragon Ball. It offers a lot more.
Man, i really want an OG Dragon Ball game that combines elements from both Kakarot and Sand Land.
I went back and watched OG dragonball after growing up with Z. Classic dragonball is great.
This is a real Dragon Ball fan.
My cat as a kid was called Meow Pai-Pai, for sheer epic factor. And he did end up being an assassin.
Also, I never even knew Z existed back in the Balkans. We started with DB, and we loved it. Fully agree with this video.
Meow Pai-Pai lmao💀
@KumoBear12 My guy killed everything from spiders, lizards, birds, mice, and rats. Lived a healthy 12 years of murder

Oh yeah that one was actually hilarious lmaooo
Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave and true!
It’s not true at all

Og dragon had that feeling that i dont know how to describe it but its really good my one of my favorite over the other shows definently
The Funniest thing for me was that pill that Bulma gave Oolong in the first arc and anytime she would say piggy he had to go poop
Imagine there are tons of people saying they are original Dragon ball fans and yet they haven't seen the original dragon ball.
I love Z, but honestly after watching OG Z was never as good to me cuz OG was THAT fantastic.
I watched OG DB and it was perfect..DBZ is the perfect sequel though, ngl.😮
Haven't watched your video yet but before I do I just wanted to say I like Dragon Ball more than Z as well.
Backstory on the matter if you're interested:
As a little kid in the mid 90s, my dad takes me into the bedroom to show me what he has on the tv, Goku and Vegeta doing their famous beam struggle, and from then on I was hooked.
That's why I've been loving Daima because it's a perfect mix of both.
Enjoying Og dragon ball is like enjoying part 1 Naruto, you'll get flack from the fan boys of the sequel series,
and the story feels more attentive on the og one
Do not compare it. Part 2 DG is different from the first and part 2 naruto is just worse than the 1st season
Z is still better tho
Edit: both halfes are the same when you go to the OG source(the Manga), so if you wanna classify Z, i personally say it's when Goku becomes an adult
For sure, I probably should have talked about that in the video, like goku vs tenshinhan is so damn good
@@KumoBear12 For sure, both of them though I def like the first one more, I also think the piccolo jr vs goku fight is unreasonably good too, it's crazy well animated.
I've always liked DB more than DBZ
Because it was an on somble piece with multiple characters of different motivations powers and style of doing things. And didn’t makes an active serial killer’s the main character
Wait, did I miss something from OG DB? I could swear some of these scenes look redrawn with GT's animation and gi.
loved this video. you sum it up really well imo and extra bonus points for using the seed of might footage. you’re a real fan for taking the time to get color accurate footage lmao.
Thank you man😅
So i remember starting dragonball on z Kai the final chapters, which means i started late into the story and i didnt really understand it at all,i was ten years old that time and it was 2020,now its 2025 and im currently watching og dragonball and boy oh boy is it great
OG Dragonball is also DBZ.
He basically made Goku not really the mc anymore (Goku took more of a backseat in the story), made it about aliens, and made it more fighting and intense
He changed everything about the story…and then DBZ became way more popular than OG dragon ball. Respect to Toriyama.
Imo Gohan in a way was a mc of dbz. Goku only appeared in like 2/3 of z
If you look at the weekly viewership of DB (1986-1989) vs DBZ (1989-1996) DB had higher averages and peak viewers, DB was more popular by number of people watching.
Hearing Stephanie say “Power Pole Extend” again was a treat
Same brother, same
dragon ball is so awesome i love it it is so cool. part of the reason i love it so much is that i can legitimately tell when and where toriyama drew from the original journey to the west, which is amazing
power pull is probably my favorite example of this actually, because in jttw, wukong takes it from ao guangs kingdom of the east sea. like he just straight up steals a pillar within his castle. and in db, its a connection to kami (god) and a pillar connecting it to korins tower. it's one of my favorite connections its so?? awesome
I just feel there's so many aspects that were so easily abandoned after the Saiyan Saga, too much, in my opinion
So much truth spoken here, thank you for making this and educating fans on how and why Dragon Ball is the superior series 💯
Well to be fair death note has a much darker more serious tone to it but I agree in dragonball the feels are good just depends on my mood
Watching the piccolo arcs through the frieza arc is the best
(0:20) Funny how everyone in the comments calls it OG Dragon Ball 😆. I agree we should just call it " DB" or "Ball" since we call the others by their last part as well (Z, GT etc)
"Ball" is criminal
I've always appreciated the adventure aspect, even more so than the fighting.
Also I like Daima a lot so far, hopefully you will as well ^^
Really looking forward to daima🤞
I enjoy the mystery in the world of Og dragon ball. I also liked that the Og group could hold their own.
Thank god i started this franchise in the CORRECT ORDER!😂🎉🎉❤
Cus most of the time they geew up on Z and Super
Also why are you gatekeeping someone who has already seen most of dragon ball (as stated in the video), from talking about dragon ball, literally he gave his own reasons why he likes dragon ball more than Z.
*HE DIDNT WATCH DAIMA BECAUSE HE IS TRYING TO COMPLETE THE MAIN DRAGON BALL SERIES.* 🤣😂😂
As far as Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z communities being different, there are no Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z communities.
@@busymike saying gen z people can't or didn't grow up with dragonball is insane btw

It's from the Dragon Ball: Path to Power movie
It's from Path to power. I tried to use as much varying footage and images of this part of the series as possible, as I don't think the original anime holds up all that well, and manga panels would get a bit boring to look at lol.
When I was a lot younger I watched dragon ball super, only one day, yet your totally right, you need a story, because I didn’t know who the hell this angle dude, with a humanoid cat and two guys had to do with anyhting
Good thing the Title says “(To me)” or else there would probably be a bunch of negative comments
People saying DB OG is worse than DBZ
Those people are not people
It's a beast
human brain not working
No transformations. No power beam struggles. Just dudes with hands
As someone who is rewatching it it’s Faxs
IMO tho Z the best only cause of Gohan and Trunks + Vegeta
I wish they would've kept Launch as a main character in the Z arc as they did Dragon Ball.
This is called “being different for the sake of being different” this video is the same as those people who split their tongues and get horns implanted
Thats so true man
@ lol smh
My bro skipped dragon ball, what should I do?
Kick him out the house bro
It's good this man said ,,to me", because if he didn't there would probably some battles here in the comments😂😂😂
Those two words are holding back a war, lmao
OG Dragon Ball screams Toriyama, you can see that he was living with children when he was writting Goku and Oolong and Kame reminds me a lot of his self-drawing where he is reading dirty magazines lol
Once OGDB ended, I just kept rewatching it instead of trying to follow Z..... As a kid, kid Gohan frustrated me immensely.... He is just always wimpering...
You gonna make a LOT of people mad with these videos 😭
Fun fact: there is no dbz in the manga
The original run span from Chapter 1 ("og" dragon ball) all the way to Ch.
That’s fair. Again I think they’re like equally good as each other, og just has a bit more of what I look for in a story I think
Het kumo bear have you seen dragon ball absalon?
I can see that. Personally I think they can work really well, and think the naruto time skip is great
I agree. I actually made a video similar to this a few days ago about this same topic!
I’ve always felt that it would was the better written series and I agree Kid Goku fr is Adorable and this first series is the funniest too 😂
Some one who finally shares my opinion❤
I really adore Z, though I do think the jump from Goku's earth adventures to aliens and interstellar threats was a bit sudden
Great video
Daima has one of the best kid Goku fights ever!
Same, Dragon Ball never gets the same recognition that Z does because it's "slow and not action-packed as Z."
It disappoints me when people skip Dragon Ball just to get to Z
Toriyama probably would've been disappointed if he heard that fans skip Dragon Ball and only watched Z
Also, the story is so much better when you start with Dragon Ball
What are you talking about? There is literally a bunch of fighting right after the first saga. Some of the best fights actually.
In the west DBZ came out first. That’s why Dragon Ball don’t get the recognition. DBZ everyone’s first love.
I agree to starting from the beginning like you should it allows you to understand those connections Goku has with the Z fighters to me
I think the majority of fans agree with this.
I stopped the video once you said adorable
Sad
I completely agree with you.
OG > Z
GT > Super
Kid DB and DBZ are both part of the same og manga, it's just that the later sagas Saiyan to Buu were released earlier by the name DBZ otherwise they are the same continuation of the same manga, GT and Super are separate and different, the earlier arcs if DB were released later the later arcs released earlier and only anime refers to it as DBZ by Americans, everything from Goku and Bulma hunting dragonballs to Goku defeating Kid Buu happened in Dragon Ball it's the same later spin off GT and sequel Super were released, go educate yourself gen z child!
OG dragon ball is my most favourite anime.
