    Thank you so much for this video. I'm planning on changing the spark plugs on my gfs Kia Rio. I am by no means a mechanic wiz, but there is one thing I can recommend, and it is to clean and or vacuum or dust clean the top of the engine before taking the wires out and also before taking the spark plugs out to prevent dust and or other debris to prevent it from getting into the engine.

    Thanks for making this video. The check engine light on my daughter's Kia Rio came on. The code indicated it was a misfire in cylinder 4. I decided to change the ignition coil and spark plugs for all 4 cylinders at the same time. All went well on cylinders 3 and 4, however, cylinders 1 and 2 had different looking coils from 3 and 4. The coils in cylinders 1 and 2 were a little shorter and on the lower tip was a tiny spring. Additionally, I could not get access to the spark plugs in cylinders 1 and 2 because there was a funnel-like metal sleeve of some sort in the cylinders that blocked any chance of getting a socket wrench down the hole. The metal sleeve seemed permanent, at least I think so. And at the bottom of the metal sleeve, only the very tip of the spark plug that was in place could be reached. I assume that's where the tiny spring on the bottom of the ignition coil touched. Anyhow, given this, I just changed the coils and plugs in cylinders 3 and 4 and I left 1 and 2 alone. Not sure why the set-up in cylinders 1 and 2 were different. Can anyone offer insight?

    • @StonemanRocks
      @StonemanRocks 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe the metal sleeves were the oil seals! Was there any oil around the plugs down in the hole! Was the car new when you bought it? Its possible the sleeves leaked and someone did a half ass repair so they didnt have to take the head off!

      @@JH-jd8ipNo no you dont ,and ,you should quit offering advice on something you have no idea what you are talking about! You are the guy when changing your plugs you break them getting them out because the heat from the engine made them tighter! You NEVER over tighten plugs! Using your advice may cause lots of people to do that very thing! If there isnt a torque wrench available just ere on the side of caution! They need to be more than hand tight but maybe only a 1/3 turn more!

    You said you torqued the plugs down...But you didn't say if you used inch pounds or foot pounds!. Alot of people think these Kia Rio's have actual spark plug wires. They use a coil type system. When I called Kia in Bowling Green Kentucky they said they are 189.00 a piece!. There is no reason to replace these unless the coil itself goes bad. They do not go bad like the typical spark plug wires in cars....P.S....Don't let any Kia dealer replace parts that are not necessary. Dealers will claim you need these coils to be replace when nothing is wrong with them, after 40 thousand miles Martin Kia said I needed to replace my serpentine belt, my brakes, my tires, engine coil, flush and drain my coolant, transmission fluid, bleed my brakes etc etc etc etc This when I had only 40 thousand miles.

      You are probably right on everything you said but when it comes to your timing belt go with what the factory spec says! My kia says 60k mis! Sounds low but if it slips on an interference engine you just bought an engine most of the time!
