@Qasim Hussain Out of all henchmen in the Bond movies I've seen. (In my own personal opinion of course) His laugh was contagious whenever he was crushing things with his metal claw or feeding people to the crocodiles. I could relate to his quirky sense of humor !

I’d have put Tee-Hee 3rd. For me it’s Odd Job (1st), Jaws, Tee-Hee, Mr Winn & Mr Kidd, Red Grant. I don’t think of Red Grant as a henchman though because he’s far more independent. He’s more a secondary villain. So maybe Fiona Volpe #5.

    • @nickhand8054

Except that Wint and Kidd were the most extreme examples of the common downfall of Bond villains, one which the Austin Powers movies have touched on a couple of times: the need to find a fancy way of killing Bond instead of just shooting him.
Not once but twice during the movie they've got Bond unconscious at their feet and in a setting of complete privacy. Both times, Bond escapes because they've apparently never heard of these things called bullets.

Necros gets my vote for most underrated henchman of the series. People always write him off as a Red Grant clone but he's a master of disguise, he has some of the most unique kills/weapons of any villain (exploding milk bottles, headphones strangulation, killer sliding door, etc), and he has multiple intense fight scenes. He's smart, tough, and really the most capable villain in his movie. Stamper is the generic clone everyone groups him in with but Necros is awesome and unique

What is interesting is which one of these henchmen could be interchangeable throughout the different Bond eras and which ones would be out of place. For example, a Dario or a Grant could work in any Bond era yet if Nick Nack, Jaws or Oddjob showed up in a Dalton or Craig Bond movie it wouldn't work. Fatima blush/Fiona Volpe could work in any Bond movie..yet Xenia Onatopp or May Day would be ridiculous in a Dalton or Craig Bond movie. Although there were never female henchmen/henchwomen in any Dalton or Craig movie (I'm sure there would've been one in a Lazenby movie if had did a few more Bond movies).

    1. Necros. The Milkman Operation is a masterpiece and one of the best action scenes in the entire series. Honorable mention 2: The granny gatekeeper in GF.
It just occurred to me that Roger Moore got the most interesting villain & henchmen ensemble in terms of variety, appearance, personality, and skill set. And Daniel Craig got the most boring ones, although I began to like Green and Elvis more over time.

    1) Xenia Onatopp (Goldeneye) - quite simply the ultimate Femme Fatale, not only within the 007 series, but in all of cinema, as far as I’m concerned
    2) Red Grant (From Russia with Love) - he could have been just a big, blonde muscular heavy, yet Robert Shaw brings so much personality to his character
    3) Jaws (TSWLM/Moonraker) : duh !
    4) Mayday (A View to a Kill) : such a magnetic presence on screen, and her exit is awesome
    5) Fiona Volpe (Thunderball) : not only the series’ first femme fatale, but also the quintessential 60s sex-symbol, IMO
    6) Tee-Hee (Live and Let Die) : again, he’s not « just a quirk », Tee-Hee is also funny and more intellectual than we give him credit for
    7) Odd Job : double « duh »!
    8) Professor Dent (Dr No) : I really like how realistic and down to earth he is, far from the outlandish turn taken by the franchise from Goldfinger onwards
    9) Necros (The Living Daylights) : those bottles of milk, man !
    10) Mr Wint and Mr Kidd (Diamonds are forever) : so campy yet menacing
HM : Gobinda (Octopussy) : badass to the end
DM : Hans (You only live twice) : zero personality, just muscles

Its funny you think Red Grant is a henchman. I would almost consider him the main character. In fact, the Novel (my favorite of the bond novels) seems to star him first and for a longer time than Bond.
You get connected to this merciless killer on his mission to kill James Bond. But of course, the POV goes to James and the rest is history.
Also, fun fact. Ian Fleming intended Bond to die in this novel and mark it as the end. But of course success brought him back to life. Though, in my head cannon; Bond does die here.

Lotte Lenya was an Aunt on my Mother's side. I never met her but when I saw FRWL I wrote her a letter asking WHY my Aunt was on the screen trying to KILL James Bond ? She read the letter & called us from New York and told me she laughed for 10 minutes when she read the letter. We had a nice talk on the phone after she talked to my Mother and I wish I had met her in person. I was 10 when I saw FRWL.

For once, I have to agree with every choice on your list!
Fun fact: Richard Kiel (JAWS) appeared in THE MAN FROM UNCLE, THE WILD WILD WEST (as Michael Dunn's henchman!), and, THE MONKEES (in a parody of "Frankenstein").
Something that kinda baffles me: when Ian Fleming wrote his novelization of the unfilmed "Thunderball", he really tightened it up and created what I feel is by far the best version of the story. Except... there was NO Fatima (her original name) or Fiona! I can't imagine doing a version of the story without her.
In the novel "Goldfinger", Oddjob was sucked out of the plane window, while Goldfinger went down when the plane crashed. Gee... just like in 1983's "OCTOPUSSY". (heh)
For more of Luciana Paluzzi, see one of my favorite Japanese sci-fi monster films... "THE GREEN SLIME".
Dario just reeked "CRAZY". It's a good thing Bond was in the drug factory when he was confronted, I think he might have had real trouble trying to convince that guy that he was on Sanchez' side.

Think there should be a character in the Austin Powers movies called... Big Blonde Burly Henchman, who is always destined to fall into a pool of piranha fish towards the end, my Dad thinks they're all the same character, which is funny, bless, I had to explain it to him that all of these characters die, usually very horrible deaths and Bond henchmen don't usually come back as zombies!

    Oddjob
    Fiona Vulpe
    Whitt/Kidd
    TeeHee
    Nick Nack
    Jaws (Spy Who Loved Me)
    May Day
    Xenia Onatopp
    Hinx
Honourable mention: Always liked Eric and the glasses guy from For Your Eyes Only. Don't know why.

I liked the human henchmen That are more realistic, so I don't hate Elvis. I Would Also placed Dario and Grant much higher on the list.
Never Say Never Again honestly? I am havn a Hard time taking Any list seriously That includes Never Say Never Again in Any way.
I am mixed on Jaws. He was quite cool in TSWLM and spooky too, but like everything else in Moonraker he just becomes Silly.
Mr Hinx? Seriously...? I thought He was a weak character. I like Necros, Milton Krest and Tee Hee better.
I like Xenia too but nummer 1? Well I Can go along With it.

Another great list, but although I can't understand why you would pick Xenia for your number one Bond henchman, for sentimental reasons I would have picked either Oddjob or Red Grant.
As for Jaws, I totally agree with you about the differences in the way the character was portrayed in the two movies he was in. In TSWLM, he was a lot more menacing. In Moonraker, he was more like Wiley E. Coyote in the Warner Bros. Roadrunner cartoons ( with Bond being the Roadrunner, of course).
Fun fact: The actor who played Oddjob, Harold Sakata, won an Olympic Bronze Medal in Weightlifting.

@@DutchBondFan Good one! BTW, in Goldfinger, Moonraker, and Die Another Day, there are a lot of Korean villians and/or henchmen (although Harold Sakata was a Japanese-American from Hawaii). What is it with Koreans and Bond?
Another fun fact: Do you remember when the ruler of North Korea, Kim Jung Un had his people hack into the Sony Pictures computers a few years ago? Well, rumor has it that he's a huge Bond fan and he wanted to see the details about Spectre, which EON and SONY were trying to keep secret.

Finally someone who can make a difference between villains, secondary villains and henchmen .
For Nic Nac in the Man with the Golden Gun i find it silly as the whole movie itself was bad , ugly cars used too much already seen in other Bond Movies from Connery's era and a big shame for Sir Christopher Lee to have the role of a forgetable villain Scaramanga .
Jaws in the Spy who Loved me was excellent was scary was everything he was THE Henchman of the movie whereas "Moonraker" the movie itself was a parody and is one of the worst imo and can be put on the same spot or worst Bond movies ever as Diamonds are Forever & Quantum of Solace .
Fatima Bush is okay-ish but i don't consider Never say Never Again as an official Bond movie it sure is better than Thunderball which has dated badly and is way too long as it has too many errors and mistakes . Fiona Volpe owns instead since women back then were more glamorous and beautiful than those from nowadays most of actresses looks more like whores .
Teehee deserved to be in your list since he's for me the henchman that might have lead to choice later on Jaws and many similar henchmen like Stamper , etc....
The 3 blind mice from Doctor No were great but sadly we don't know much about them and didn't had much screen acting as henchmen .
Fraulein Bunt should easily make the list from On Her Majesty Secret Service she's really a great henchwoman and close to Blofeld sadly we don't even know what happened to her after it ?
Anyway for me the James Bond franchise stops after Licence to Kill . Since Goldeneye to Spectre there wasn't many surprises anymore all the themes got re-used world domination, drugs, etc...
Pierce Brosnan era as Bond only 2 movies were great even though one of them was already a remake that was a remake Tommorow Never Dies has exact similar plot as The Spy who Loved Me and You Only Live Twice . And Goldeneye was good but overrated because the N64 game without the game the movie wouldn't be that much liked . The World is not Enough & Die Another Day were stupid as for DAD it signed the real end of James Bond from the 20th Century
Daniel Craig era as Bond are all except Bond movies falls in the usual action movies such as Jason Bourne, Taken, etc...
Casino Royale is boring a way too long plot set up, too long poker scene and a wtf magical hand , no car chases ....Quantum of Solace well too violent and was boring ugly soundtrack and no real loveable characters feels more like a Call of Duty game ....Skyfall had a great soundtrack finaly , but the movie itself delivered too much messages and ruined the story ( politicaly correctness, feminism, gays, etc...) ....Spectre offered nothing new at all the movie is a cut&paste from Die Another Day with the tons of eastereggs from older movies it was just an hommage as reviving the character Blofeld was it really needed?!
Also Since Goldeneye to Spectre the soundtracks are ugly only two of them are excellent Tina Turner : Goldeneye & Adele : Skyfall .......we're missing John Barry alot that knows how to make great soundtracks and is proven in numerous movies .
And last they should take a better "Q" actor than a nerdy youngster that is still in university , the actor Desmond Llewelyn as "Q" was a direct loveable character since From Russia with Love also sad they didn't kept John Cleese he would make more humor something missing in todays way too serious era .

    4) Xenia (Goldeneye)

    7) Red Grant (From Russia With Love)
    8) Necros (The Living Daylights)
    9) Stamper (Tomorrow Never Dies)
    10) May Day (A View to a Kill)
And LOL, no one remembers Elvis. Not even me. XD
And personally, I really feel Luciana Paluzzi should have been Domino. I mean, I know people like her performance and all, and she does look good, but I just don't get a sense of menace out of her, whereas with Barbara Carrera and even Famke Janssen I actually did get a sense of menace out of them, whereas I just never got any menace out of Fiona Volpe.
