I guess audiences nowadays (including me) identify that laser kind of sound more as a sound effect for a silencer! I have no knowledge on the sound of an actual silencer, so I take your word for it!
No it doesn't. Not by a long shot. They both sound hilariously off to anyone that's ever used a suppressor. For one - they're still fuckin' loud. People don't understand that a gun is going to be loud regardless, all a silencer or suppressor does is take it down a notch but it's still going to be loud - people in the building are STILL going to hear it, it's not going to do ANYTHING for the actual sound of the parts of the gun itself, the slide and the other bits moving about. Even a gun that's noted for being EXCEPTIONALLY quiet - the silenced Sten guns of the Second World War - the clapping sounds of the mechanical parts was still very audible, it was just that it didn't sounds as much like a gun some people wouldn't immediately jump to that conclusion without experience. Not to mention the sound of whatever the bullet manages to hit, the sound of the expended brass hitting and rolling on the floor. If it's outside then there's still going to be an echo, even for a pistol - if it's a rifle or anything with supersonic ammunition (MOST ammunition for rifles and carbines and the like) then the very loud SNAP of the bullet breaking the sound barrier will still be heard regardless of suppressor. Neither the "thump" of the original nor the "Pwet!" of the modern movies sounds legitimate. Luckily, this has been changing in movies lately with some films actually using more legitimate sound effects.

Good list. My #1 would've been Bond's electrocution of Oddjob in the gold vault in "Goldfinger." Oddjob's just spent several minutes owning him in a fistfight and even managed to duck Bond's kill shot with Oddjob's own hat. He casually goes to pull it out of the bars and use it to end Bond, when Bond dives across the floor and grabs a severed live power cable and uses it to electrify the bars killing Oddjob in a spectacular explosion of sparks, smoke and sound effects. I'm glad you included his dispatching of Emile Leopald Locke in the car at the edge of the cliff. Great moment.
My favorite is Prof. Dent. Such an introduction to Bond's cold side in that first iconic film. Plus his near psychic tracking of Dent's movements and that excellent one-liner. Too good.
Great list. To add some personal faves: • Oddjob in Goldfinger. This has to be one of the greatest fight scenes in the entire franchise. • Necros being sent flying off the plane in The Living Daylights. "What happened?" "He got the boot." • Max Zorin falling off the Golden Gate Bridge (AVTAK). • Patrice in Skyfall. It's a quick, brutal hand-to-hand fight, backlit by the neon lights. • Mr. White's bodyguards in the pre-title sequence car chase in QoS. The way Bond finally gets a perfect shot and sends their car off the cliff is so badass.
As originally written, that was SUPPOSED to be Blofeld, which is why Anya mentioned Bond being married earlier in the film. But then Kevin McClory sent a cease-and-decist order. Too bad. if they'd done that story a couple years earlier, they would have still had the rights, before they reverted to McClory. There's just SO MANY REASONS I rank "DIAMONDS" near the bottom of the series. Hell, about the only thing I really like about that film is the theme song!
@@henrykujawa4427 - I do kinda like Wint and Kidd, despite their ludicrously inept assassination attempts against Bond. 😄 But there's no reason to have Blofeld as an explanation for why Bond's wife was brought up. The scene was just Bond and Anya trying to one-up each other about all the personal details they each knew about the other. Mentioning Tracy fits the scene perfectly. I know that they wanted to bring Blofeld back, but I think the plot must have changed a lot since then. You couldn't just insert Blofeld in the place of Stromberg and have it work. For one thing, Blofeld was always, ultimately, after money. Stromberg was not.

Then he puts Adam's stolen speedboat into full throttle and with nobody at the controls, the boat goes around in circles before Bond uses his own stolen speedboat to control Adam's boat into a tanker at which Adam and his boat are killed in a fiery explosion. What makes it even better is all this is set to an instrumental version of Live and Let Die

I did enjoy the list and you put a lot of insight into each choice. But I have to say, In my opinion, the defeat of Grant in From Russia with Love has always been my favorite Bond kill. We are shown Bond's ability to talk his way out of trouble then win a fight against a physically superior opponent. Grant even has gadgets to match Bond (his wristwatch choking wire). The sadistic Grant has bond on his knees with his hands in his pockets and a gun aimed at him and 007 still manages to get the upper hand.
Scaramanga has to be at least mentioned. The one man who equals or perhaps even surpassed Bond in skill, challenges Bond to a duel - Walther PPK against Golden Gun.
Love the movie, love the duel, but I have watched the sequence where Bond replaces the Bond statue 50 times and it simply impossible. It's fun and the audience knows the switch has been made as the camera pans over the hand that now has all of it's fingers. But Scaramanga has the statue in sight during the timeframe when Bond would need to sneak onto the open floor, dress into the jacket (he didn't have a jacket on), remove the statue, take its (functional?) gun, and pose as the statue. Even as a kid, that removed any immersion of that scene for me. Still love it though!
@@kickballjedi I'll admit that I'm probably a bit biased. Sir Christopher Lee is my favorite actor, so seeing him as the legendary character kind of boosts my enjoyment of the duel.
Really enjoyed the list. Glad you added Professor Dents cold blooded execution at the hands of Connery's coolest Bond - even though in the first movie, the best imo. Subbed
12:40 Fun fact: that wasn't a Smith & Wesson but a Colt M1911. Magazine capacity: 7 (+1 in the chamber). Also what Bond was wielding in that scene isn't the PPK, as no silenced PPK was market-available back then.
I commented on that as well... per how it played out, the slide was locked back after the last shot into the bed, so however the Doctor loaded it, it was effectively empty at that point... and as he throws it down, the slide is still back... but when they switch scene views, the inject a continuity error, and move the gun, and release the slide... still a great movie that gave us decades of other great movies!
One of the best: the killing of Peter Franks (Diamonds Are Forever) after a brutal fight in an Amsterdam lift. Tiffany Case: My God! you've just killed James Bond! Bond: Is that who it was?
And presumably the most experienced. I think he was the oldest actor to play Bond which seems to imply he’s been doing this a while. I love the stark contrast between that and the more raw unpolished Bond who just got his 00 status in Casino Royale
@@zachwilli6170Sean Connery was 32 when played Bond in Dr No and Roger Moore was 45 when did Live And Let Die Making him the oldest debut as 007 but Connery had that older than he was feel to him
Bond killing Dent should be number one When Brosnan kills Dr. Kaufman you don't see both actors, but when Bond kills Dent, you get to see both actors, which makes the kill more brutal
1. Alec Trevelyan's death. 2. Professor Dent's death. 3. Sanchez's death 4. Dryden's death. 5. Red Grant's death. 6. Silva's death (last rat standing). 7. Kaufman's death. 8. Elektra King's death. 9. Locque's death. 10. Stromberg's death. Honorable mentions: Fiona Volpe's death, Oddjob's death, Ed Killifer's death, Necros's death, Vargas's death, Renard's death, Whitaker's death and Elliot Carver's death. Dishonorable mentions: Kananaga's death, Le Chiffre's death, Blofeld's death in FYEO, Gustav Graves's death and Bond leaving Dominic Greene out in the desert with nothing but an oil can.
In #1, the biggest flaw in that scene is Dryden not knowing there are no bullets in the gun the moment he picked it up. Even a novice can easily feel the weight difference if there's no magazine.
My list: #1 Professor Dent (Dr.no) #2 Dryden (Casino Royale) #3 dr kaufman ( Tomorrow never dies) #4 vargas (Thunderball) #5 Alec trevelyn (Goldeneye) #6 franz sanchesz (license to kill) #8 Emille locque ( For your eyes only) #9 Elektra King ( The world is not enough) #10 Fiona Volpe (Thunderball)
No it wouldn't. Have you guys actually shot a pistol with a suppressor? It's still fucking loud. Why the hell do people keep saying this? People don't understand that a gun is going to be loud regardless, all a silencer or suppressor does is take it down a notch but it's still going to be loud - people in the building are STILL going to hear it, it's not going to do ANYTHING for the actual sound of the parts of the gun itself, the slide and the other bits moving about. Even a gun that's noted for being EXCEPTIONALLY quiet - the silenced Sten guns of the Second World War - the clapping sounds of the mechanical parts was still very audible, it was just that it didn't sound as much like a gun so people wouldn't immediately jump to that conclusion without experience. You're still going to feel it in your ears, maybe even have them ringing, though not damaged likely.
th-cam.com/video/c2GchQ3orB0/w-d-xo.html - It's literally simple as searching it on TH-cam. Does it sound closer to the truth? Yes, much more than the barely-audible "pewt" of video games and Hollywood lore but it's not even close to "spot on".
@@fuzzydunlop7928 That's just not true, it depends entirely on the gun and the suppressor. For example, here is a video of a guy shooting a suppressed 1911 (same as Professor Dent's 'Smith & Wesson', and it sounds very much like the sound effects in the movie (starts at about 0:25): th-cam.com/video/UIcqt3wIzoI/w-d-xo.html
Hard to choose, so many great ones, but for sure my top 3 Bond kills are: 1. The World Is Not Enough - Elektra King. 2. Casino Royale intro. 3. Skyfall - Raoul Silva.
A buddy (and fellow Bond fanatic) and I stuck with 007 through all the ups and downs of every previous movie, even when the downs seem to take precedence. After this opening scene and 007 says "yes, considerably" we both let out unintelligible vocalisations, stood up and high fived each other. RIP Rimshot.
My #1 pick would have to be the "I never _miss_ " kill of Electra King; never tire of it no matter how many times I view it. The fact that Roger had to be (repeatedly) cajoled into kicking the car driven by Loquc reveals his limitation as Bond; even Pierce Brosnan would not have hesitated to carry out that scene.
It's a shame we never got a proper Bond/Blofeld final showdown in the original (pre-Craig) continuity. Ideally it should have come in "Diamonds" (and apparently that was the idea) but given how "Diamonds" turned out, I'm in two minds about that.
NTTD should have had Blofeld in the garden instead of Safin. Bond fans were screaming for decades about the garden of death and Bond killing Blofield with his bare hands. It would have been more satisfying than what we got in the actual film.
@@michaelmacleod6517 I have a complicated head cannon version in which Safin, not Bond, gets into the prison. Blofeld easily dispatches him, escapes in Safin's prison guard disguise, and flies to reclaim the poison island as his rightful property, to start a new empire. Would have made the finale so much more impactful.
Great video! I was acutally expecting to see Bonds final kill in Skyfall among the list but the Casino Royale one deserves to be on that spot. By the way, I'm looking forward for your review of Casino Royale. Daniel Craig was the first Bond I experienced in Cinema and as it is an adaptation from Ian Fleming's first novel, that led me into reading his book (have only managed to read a few of them as of now though.)
DutchBondFan hahaha you & me both! I laughed so hard when you mentioned it in the Diamonds are Forever recapping episode! I’ve been making fun of the scorpion death for years! Great minds think alike! 😂
haha I liked that you made the honorable and dishonorable mentions. The classic and cold blooded kill of Prof. Dent imp should be at nr.1. The second one I think should have been the brutal but cool kill of Sanchez. Anyways great video as always. And I liked the honorable and dishonorable mentions. Totally agree on them.
Bond dropping Trevelyan into the dish in GoldenEye should've gotten an honorable mention. Yes, I know he didn't die on impact, but Bond left him for dead once the dish collapsed on top of him.
Good choices. I think my favorite is number 5 - Roger Moore's kill in For Your Eyes Only. Partly because it's makes more impact to see Roger Moores James Bond make a cold hearted kill like that.
#3 is silenced so the sound is pretty consistent for the era of sound effects. There are three more errors, the gun is not a Smith & Wesson but a Colt 1911 which holds seven rounds. Although we see the slide back after shooting the bed showing empty, this would be consistent if loading only 6 rounds. However when the gun is dropped, slide open, we see it picked up with the slide closed. This is a blooper.
In Dr. no, the original print has 007 shooting Dent in the back 4 times. I saw it in the theater in 1963. They cut most of the shots out in all later showings.
At first I thought you can't be serious leaving the train fight out of the top 10. Then I watched the video and understood why, there are really many great scenes. Personally I would nevertheless put it in the top 10, perhaps for the Vargas kill in Thunderball. Still an amazing list. What is interesting is the correlation between the best kills and the best movies. Casino Royale and License to Kill with double entries and all the other movies mentioned aren't exactly on my worst bond list.
I read that Bond shot Dent about 5 or 6 times but they were cut to 1 or 2. The fight in the French elevator is tops for intensity. According to the novels Bond’s first kill was this guy in a skyscraper, another agent shoots the thick glass and Bond shoots into the weakened glass and into the mouth of the target as he turned to look at the first shot hitting the glass.
kacher5 That certainly is one of the most iconic and memorable ones I agree! Looking back at it, I think Bond's kills leave the best impact on me when they're cold blooded and dark. Since that seems to be what a lot of the kills in my list are. Maybe a preference I was unaware of!
I love how we briefly see Dryden's family portrait on his desk after he gets shot.

Really enjoyed the list. Glad you added Professor Dents cold blooded execution at the hands of Connery's coolest Bond - even though in the first movie, the best imo. Subbed
Another good one! You're right. The single gunshots and the one-on-one kills are the best.
Just found your channel and I can't stop watching your videos and rankings. Awesome job and recopilation. Cheers from Argentina!
Cheers man, glad you enjoy!
I can’t wait to see more ranking 007 videos. Love your work.
You forgot the boat chace finale in "Live and Let die" when Bond sets fire on his enemy boat - Amazing to see Bond's anger at time.
Please rank all your James Bond films
That's an ultimate project i'm planning on doing as soon as my second goal on Patreon is reached!
DutchBondFan Looking forward to it!
In "Never Say Never Again", Fatima Blush's death was pretty awesome. The smoking shoe afterwards was great
You are an amazing connoisseur of Bond. That Top 4 would have be mine as well.
12:40 Fun fact: that wasn't a Smith & Wesson but a Colt M1911. Magazine capacity: 7 (+1 in the chamber).
Also what Bond was wielding in that scene isn't the PPK, as no silenced PPK was market-available back then.
That’s where the aftermarket comes in clutch also people make custom barrels all the time doing a threaded one is pretty easy for a government agency
Bond uses an FN model1910 in that scene.
@@kleetus92 Yes, that's for sure.
My favorite is when Necros "gets the boot" in TLD. Awesome 👌
One of the best: the killing of Peter Franks (Diamonds Are Forever) after a brutal fight in an Amsterdam lift. Tiffany Case: My God! you've just killed James Bond! Bond: Is that who it was?
11:07 your comic timing is impeccable haha!
"I never miss" is tops for me. Good list
Connery has the most relaxed body language in his kills so is probably the most ruthless
And presumably the most experienced. I think he was the oldest actor to play Bond which seems to imply he’s been doing this a while. I love the stark contrast between that and the more raw unpolished Bond who just got his 00 status in Casino Royale
@@zachwilli6170Sean Connery was 32 when played Bond in Dr No and Roger Moore was 45 when did Live And Let Die
Making him the oldest debut as 007 but Connery had that older than he was feel to him
@@zachwilli6170 Dalton has probably the best acting CV - Shakespearean roles etc. Daniel Craig has been pretty old in his recent films.
Bond killing Dent should be number one When Brosnan kills Dr. Kaufman you don't see both actors, but when Bond kills Dent, you get to see both actors, which makes the kill more brutal
1. Alec Trevelyan's death.
2. Professor Dent's death.
3. Sanchez's death
4. Dryden's death.
5. Red Grant's death.
6. Silva's death (last rat standing).
7. Kaufman's death.
8. Elektra King's death.
9. Locque's death.
10. Stromberg's death.
Honorable mentions:
Fiona Volpe's death, Oddjob's death, Ed Killifer's death, Necros's death, Vargas's death, Renard's death, Whitaker's death and Elliot Carver's death.
Dishonorable mentions:
Kananaga's death, Le Chiffre's death, Blofeld's death in FYEO, Gustav Graves's death and Bond leaving Dominic Greene out in the desert with nothing but an oil can.
"And you've had your six....."
In #1, the biggest flaw in that scene is Dryden not knowing there are no bullets in the gun the moment he picked it up. Even a novice can easily feel the weight difference if there's no magazine.
My list:
#1 Professor Dent (Dr.no)
#2 Dryden (Casino Royale)
#3 dr kaufman ( Tomorrow never dies)
#4 vargas (Thunderball)
#5 Alec trevelyn (Goldeneye)
#6 franz sanchesz (license to kill)
#8 Emille locque ( For your eyes only)
#9 Elektra King ( The world is not enough)
#10 Fiona Volpe (Thunderball)
Calvin Dyson is still my favorite Bond TH-camr, but I really enjoy your videos as well!!!!
Actually, the gun sound effect for Professor Dent is spot-on perfect. The silencer would basically make the "pfft" sound you hear.
It’s Smith & *Wesson*, not Western!
@@fuzzydunlop7928 if a subsonic round is used it is quieter though the action alone is enough to to make your ears ring slightly
@@fuzzydunlop7928 That's just not true, it depends entirely on the gun and the suppressor.
For example, here is a video of a guy shooting a suppressed 1911 (same as Professor Dent's 'Smith & Wesson', and it sounds very much like the sound effects in the movie (starts at about 0:25):
th-cam.com/video/UIcqt3wIzoI/w-d-xo.html
Hard to choose, so many great ones, but for sure my top 3 Bond kills are:
1. The World Is Not Enough - Elektra King.
2. Casino Royale intro.
3. Skyfall - Raoul Silva.
Great picks! I agree the Skyfall one was a good one too! Only listing 10 is a challenging task!
Thanks, keep up the great work :)
The kill in the hotel room in Quantum of Solace is one of my favourites, always gets overlooked.
"Too much Charlie and Chocolate Factory......" Love it!!! (Thumbs Up)
8:50 Locque also killed Countess Lisl but nobody remembers her lol. Luigi Ferrara though... RIP sweet prince
Haha very good point!
I have to agree with number 1 it was absolutely brilliant
Number 5 : killing of Franz Sanchez gives definitly the most satisfaction.
I still love Christopher Walken's giggle as he realizes he'll definitely slip in a second, and falling past the bridge looks great too.
It will be more impressive if he can laugh all the way down instead of screaming.
@@qian4413 I think he's yelling in shock that this is how he's gonna go out...loosing his grip so to speak
Your commentaries are the best!
You missed the killing of Zao in Pierce Brosnan's Die Another Day
Maybe it's your accent, but I laughed loudly when you unloaded on Kanaga's death in Live and Let Die. 😄😂🤣 (I totally agree with you, by the way...)
Number 10: corrupt DEA agent is Everett McGill, Big Ed Hurley from Twin Peaks! 😁
I think the Thunderball kill is the most iconic
Pretty good list, but Oddjob not being on it was a mistake.
Enjoyed your video and largely agreed.
However, the killing of Prof. Dent could have easily been moved up to No. 1 with Dryden #2 and Dr. Kaufman #3.
GoldenEye
He literally catches him just to purposely let him go.
Which Alec knows even if the audience doesn't.
Can’t believe that Oddjob’s electrocution didn’t even make the list. That’s in the top three for me.
I love your videos! 👍👍👍
Great video! I really enjoyed it. Dent was my favorite. What about the scorpion death from Diamonds Are Forever?! agh!! 😵🦂
Hahaha, well as you may have seen in Recapping episode 7, that one always cracks me up because it's just so hilariously bad!
DutchBondFan hahaha you & me both! I laughed so hard when you mentioned it in the Diamonds are Forever recapping episode! I’ve been making fun of the scorpion death for years! Great minds think alike! 😂
"Bitten by the bug."
haha I liked that you made the honorable and dishonorable mentions. The classic and cold blooded kill of Prof. Dent imp should be at nr.1. The second one I think should have been the brutal but cool kill of Sanchez. Anyways great video as always. And I liked the honorable and dishonorable mentions. Totally agree on them.
I think the killing of Yanis villain Xenia Onatop has to be one of the best bond moments
Great channel. You earned a sub
Bond dropping Trevelyan into the dish in GoldenEye should've gotten an honorable mention. Yes, I know he didn't die on impact, but Bond left him for dead once the dish collapsed on top of him.
viewers- So Dutch Bond Fan, are you ready to upload your next video?
DBF- With pleasure Viewers, With pleasure!!
6:30 timing of words and clip is priceless
I like when Bond tells Drax to take one giant leap for mankind.
Good choices. I think my favorite is number 5 - Roger Moore's kill in For Your Eyes Only. Partly because it's makes more impact to see Roger Moores James Bond make a cold hearted kill like that.
You gotta love these movies.
License to Kill is my favorite Bond movie.
Good list, Sir. How about "top 10 villain Deaths" ??
In Dr. no, the original print has 007 shooting Dent in the back 4 times.
The “Thunderball” sequence at the Junkanoo carnival was ridiculous. And you left behind the train sequence in “From Russia With Love”? Strange.
Mr Wint and Kidd deserve a dishonorable mention
I read that Bond shot Dent about 5 or 6 times but they were cut to 1 or 2.
The fight in the French elevator is tops for intensity.
According to the novels Bond’s first kill was this guy in a skyscraper, another agent shoots the thick glass and Bond shoots into the weakened glass and into the mouth of the target as he turned to look at the first shot hitting the glass.
It's a shame that you didn't add scene of Oddjob's dead, but list is generally good ;)
kacher5 That certainly is one of the most iconic and memorable ones I agree! Looking back at it, I think Bond's kills leave the best impact on me when they're cold blooded and dark. Since that seems to be what a lot of the kills in my list are. Maybe a preference I was unaware of!
@@DutchBondFan oh..he blew a fuse
Always liked the killing of the henchman in the Hotel. Ear the beginning of Quantum.
3:35 I would have kept that money lol
At least scooped out a few grand!
He wouldn't be allowed to keep it - it would be seized as evidence, but Bond wasn't terribly interested in bringing any of them to trial.
