As someone who moved to Dynamis for housing, I'm actually going to enjoy being able to queue for roulettes without having to leave. It'll probably be the best few weeks of the expansion lol
I've learned to not adjust my life around MMO expansion launches.

Yeah I have been apart of many. Some are worse than others but all have queue times and lag etc. Best to set your excitement for a couple days after and any play time before that is like a bonus.
Its so fun though when everyone got no clue on what to do, I love that atmosphere. Also we probably going to get a free subs if the problem is too much.
Sadly despite all the launch jank, the initial launch of an MMO is always the most fun. Different content releases are nice, but there's nothing like the hype of a brand new MMO expansion, before the reality and acceptance sets in lol
But you miss all the fun of it, I honestly enjoy the chaos.
Glad to see the timeout coming back. Even if it's only for a while. There are people on my server that have been AFK in one spot for more than two years. Coincidentally I have never logged into the game once in two years without at least a small queue.

Also, if people take Zepla's advice of "just run with duty support" that will virtually guarantee a Raubahn Savage situation. It's a bad idea.

They get logged out every maintenance
They're paying their sub, just like you, and despite your perceptions they have to log back in every maintenance. XIV servers are infamously unstable, too. Most players get disconnected at least once or twice over extended log-in sessions exceeding 18+ hours.

Yeah, this is what people have been praying for for a while, because if everyone just stopped going to aether for their roulettes then dymanis would have a perfectly healthy DF queue time.
The thing that's good about them shutting down datacenter travel is that all of the players who travel from Dynamis now have to play on their world so we'll finally get an idea of how the queues would be if everyone played here. I'm sorta stuck on Dynamis. My hope was to get off right before maintenance but my world I wanna go to is congested so probably not. So I get priority over the people visiting but I'm stuck on Dynamis. I really hope PVP starts really popping here.
I mean 90% of the population on Dyna are people that wore out their welcome on other servers by being toxic pieces of trash.

Sarg's already gonna be a shitshow trying to log in next weekend, we really don't need off-worlders trying to hang out with their favorite streamer clogging up the works. You can see them on stream for a little while instead of needing to be there lmao.
They are saying there's two situations in which you get error 2002, and one is before you have entered the queue - in that situation, they want you to wait a bit. In the situation it's *while* in queue, then you have a spot reserved for a short time.
So what they are saying is once I get in, at bedtime, stay in and put something heavy on my movement button against a wall.
Savage will not come out for a month after EW release. Data centre travel being disabled will not affect statics outside of running extremes in preparation for savage, which can be done on Dynamis and Shadow.
I can agree with maybe Cross-Region Travel for English speaking DCs, but absolutely not during DT Launch that would just risk Dynamis being even more hammered by overflow. We aren't as populated sure but still potentially eating overflow from like 5-6 Different DC if it was Cross-Region like would only screw Dynamis queues. But yeah the Dynamis reception has actually been the opposite of Zepla's Take. We're happy for this because it means we'll actually be populated and get queues on our own worlds WITHOUT having to DC travel or post PFs.
I'm ready for the infinite queues. I'll just watch Emet Selch dance for me as I sit in Queue, just like I did with End Walker.
As someone who lives in Dynamis, I am not worried about not being able to travel to do content. Dynamis does not need to travel to do content, but when the servers were new, we did as we didn’t have the population. We have the population now. It’s just a matter of breaking the habit of travel.
Best strat is to have two instances of the launcher open, login into one and have a second with your UN and PW ready and pre-typed so you can just hit connect as soon as you crash the first window

I don’t think it will be as bad as end walker for the fact they learnt from that launch and you need to remember endwalker was when people where mad at blizzard and stopped playing WoW. A lot of them have gone back to WoW so that will help a lot.
We are getting more Xbox players tho. But also the semiconductor shortage and lack of servers isn't a problem anymore.
Could they not set up a new loot roll so you only get one item when the option is turned on, similar to how new alliance raids have the one item per week?

They should implement a short, few minute, grace period to allow the game to relaunch and try again after a 90k or whatever code error, without losing your place.

They should allow Cross-DC travel to Shadow and Dynamis at least to begin with.

Dear Yoshi-P, what if the Final Fantasy XIV client itself disconnects while you are sitting and waiting for the login queue? Have you fixed this problem since Endwalker?
They already fixed it back then after a couple days. It was a bug in the queueing system.

What happens if everyone goes to Dynamis and then Dynamis players can’t log in cause all of NA packed in to play with friends.
Homeworld players get priority over visitors so Dynamis players should be able to get in.

I am considering coming back to FF14 after 2 and a half years but stuff likes this makes me have second thoughts. The queues in EW release killed the game for me and it's the reason I quit until today. All these restrictions and rules about cross server connectivity feels so archaic and I don't get how Blizzard can be so much advanced in this regard.
WoW has 10 hour queues whenever a popular new expansion or season drops. The players take it as a badge of pride that they sit through 8-10 hour queues. What are you on about?
@@normalmighty EW queues in Gilgamesh were hours of waiting and it stayed like that after 2 WEEKS when I had enough. I never had something like that in WoW. When I talk about Blizzard being light years above SE, I am not talking about queues to join servers. It's about all the "traveling between worlds". In wow you don't even think about it, cross Realm just happens.

@@normalmighty I am on high pop servers in both games. WoW has never been this bad like in EW release. And my point still stand about SE archaic tech regarding cross server.
When you logged in and queue waiting, you will most likely AFK. And then if you encountered the error 2002 while being AFK, what are the odds that you will be able to login back within a minute? 😂

The Japanese sure are something, so many JP only room there even in Elemental where its common for English speaking people there and full of Japanese looking for that kind of atmosphere. The movement of anti gaijin there is only increasing in worrying rate
They don't all know perfect english. Would you like to be in a party where you don't know what the hell anyone else is saying? Or can only half understand. Japan is very xenophobic but I don't think that is part of it.
1. Log into a 25k queue.
2. Wait hours upon hours to get in at place 100 get error 2002, but you were in the bathroom and didn't get logged back in in time and now have to start over.
3. Back in the queue for several more hours, your character gets logged in succssfully!
4. However you fell asleep in your chair waiting and your character times out after 30 minutes.
5. You wake up to find your game has disconnected and you have to start all over again.
6. Rinse, Repeat

Unfortunately: as a NA player, going to a JP server could lead to a LOT of unpleasantness. While I can't speak for EU: NA has more than one person or group of people who thrive in racism, sexism, xenophobia, and other "questionable" behaviors. While NA to EU or other English speaking data centers usually brush such behavior off as "bad manners" or some such: JP player might not appreciate or understand such "bunarchy l." IMHO, SE has done the right thing by leaving JP "protected."
Having said that: it has been mentioned in say chat that FCs have "partnered" with other FCs on Dynamis or Oceania to have a "meeting place" for players from other DCs to meet together until the congestion "calms" down. I guess that is something that is a good way for players to interact with other players outside their "normal" circles.

@@xhelan131 I know what you're talking about. I feel like many places have racism they just don't have as many opportunities to acknowledge it. So they see the U.S. and all the conflict and think they don't have that but it's lack of diversity and not being challenged as much so when it does happen they react poorly. The U.S. has people who listen and try to accept the people different from them, even if we still have a lot of really bad people at least it's easier to spot them.

But that doesn't make any sense, masses of people are always going to gathering nodes, flying to fates, and following hunt trains at all periods of an expansion. The congestion has nothing to do with open world design. There's plenty to do out in the world, just no wholly new mechanics in a while.
If there are too many people in one area they make multiple instances. They've done this a lot. Also consider sometimes there are lala-rmt-bots under the ground.
I'm on Dynamis, so I guess I'll see how bad it is. If I can't log in for a week or two, so be it I guess, I'm still working through ARR anyways, I'll just play elden ring or something 🤷
I have a max level on each DC except primal. I will main the character with least queue 😂
Unless I'm missing something, Zepla's way off base here. If your home server is on Dynamis, you're sitting pretty. The reason DF and PF suck on Dynamis is because everyone travels to Aether. Now they can't do that so the DF queues are going to be way better. Moreover, people from Aether, Primal and Crystal are going to have long queue times to get into the game, and will look to Dynamis for shorter login queues. This will increase the Dynamis population further, but priority will still goes to those whose home server is on Dynamis.

Healers went on strike before, it didn't change anything. 90% of healers are not participating in it.

I often forget a HUUUGE amount of players do not interact with the forums - and have no idea there's even a strike going on.
You would think - if it was a huge issue it'd be apparent everywhere? But yeah, you're definitely right.
There really will be a huge healer shortage, but it'll be because everyone is playing the new jobs, and we've knowing it was coming since the jobs were first announced at fanfest.

IF they opened everywhere region travel there would be culture shock. I did some PVP on OCE and a Japanese player was spamming the same 2-3 macros one every 20 seconds for the entire fight. Telling people where to go and saying when they had LB with a 3 2 1 count down with sounds. And someone else said "they're a good player, we didn't lose because of them" when people complained about it being distracting. I recorded it to show someone privately, and I won't post that here because it has their names, but it's a 2 minute video of me scrolling to the top and back down again. So was a minute of scrolling in the chat and just walls of text and sound queues I didn't hear for roughly 10-12 minutes. It was so over the top to me and I've done a lot of Frontlines. Usually for NA you can sorta communicate between macro leaders or they're simple enough to follow "focus red" "warning pinch" etc. I've never seen anything like what that JP player was doing. Looking at it right now, 25 individual lines posted in 1 minute. Edit: in game minute. I have time stamps on my messages.
I think it would be good only if creators put out guides and talked about what the rules and cultures are like for each region. 13:15 is when I paused. I don't know any JP rules. All I know is they and EU use more macros and I know JP has savage in roulettes, and frankly most of NA will get mad at Extremes in roulettes unless they're really good mentors. (And no one should be mad about that cuz free trial can't ask for it in party finder anyway. Just saying.)
It's not just about looting rules, as someone in OCE that used to be in JP, raiding culture and etiquette is completely different, and I am %100 sure most NA wouldn't bother to learn or change their habits. There is a reason JP is the only servers you can actually just queue for difficult content and expect to do it. When everywhere else needs statics and party finder groups.
I just assumed it was because they all have better ping in JP, whereas NA needs a 3rd party tool to come close to that ping for raiding.
@@cutecats532 I don't think so. Before OCE servers we still participated in this, and we all had 150-250 ping depending on our state. Also SEA players who are typically also mid hundreds. I think it's more the prevalence of raiding macros in JP that make things really easy to understand. If one person has it you're set. No arguments about positions and a clear strategy. Also just a different attitude to personal responsibility and politeness that stopped arguments or parties disbanding the second one wipe happens.
It's really stupid of them not to have the client automatically reconnect on a 2002 error.
We all know people will do this with a certain unofficial launcher, which will compel others to use it.

Edit: I am personally in a different situation than I was in Endwalker so this is going to be a "second monitor while I do something else situation." If I don't get in fast enough I just won't be able to play since my windows to play are pretty short. Which is fine honestly, just the way these things go sometimes. A good thing about this game is that if I did get behind my friends they would be happy to just run the dungeons with me when I get to it so it works out.
I'll be on vacation the first week of Dawntrail, so I'm not to worried about it.

I prefer it being luck on loot rolls because you could steal leave the jp server with nothing. But you cant get it all or more than one. While in na you can get it all or none or anywhere in between.

@Disconnected66 Yes, NA players would go to JP and be disrespectful. The latest trend of influencers going there starting problems with the public is a bit of proof. Watch the video, and thank you for proving my point. I spent years raiding on JP, EU, and NA datacenters. I have never seen such toxicity in raiding anywhere but NA. Especially on Aether. Outsode of high-end content was hit and miss.
Ngl for a game that makes SE 100's of millions US$ every year it's kinda pathetic how bad the server/network infrastructure of FFXIV is. I really hope they start to reinvest more into the game if they actually plan to support this game for at least another decade.
I think they've invested quite a bit into the new servers. At the time of EW they couldn't get servers at all even paying way above market price because of the semiconductor shortage.
They've been upgrading their servers and adding new datacenters over the course of the last two years. But this game is bigger then wow when a new expansion drops, so they're saying that in spite of all their efforts expect to still wait

Very true. Preorder is really only beneficial for the bonus items, otherwise you can still log on to do other stuff or wait out queues doing other things outside of 14

@@xhelan131 Endwalker endgame content and patch cycle sucked. Stormblood was pretty bad as well. Plus, August 26th will suck a ton of players away from FFXIV and ease stress on the servers
