I understand why Brian was so perplexed by bacchus sigh; LK didn’t explain Johnny or his mechanics enough. Blue burst specifically caused the glitch, and Johnny only ever used bacchus when going for an unblock-able. So if he goes for it in this instance, he should be baiting burst for one. But also Johnny is a level up character. He has to spend his coins to level up his mist finer stance and make the cancels better. If he releases the move he spends all his levels. That’s why Johnny doesn’t use Mist Finer without canceling it on block, his block pressure falls apart without levels, and so do his confirms (the main things that make him so good). He does use mist finer release a lot in neutral like LK said, but that’s only at level 1. Conclusion, Johnny doesn’t want to spend Mist Finer without reward and being able to coin up + the consensus of losing mist when hit made people not find the bug for quite a while.
Yeah I think LK missed that when explaining the mechanics, it’s all well and good to know when he hits level 3 he can cancel normals to make them safe but without knowing leveling is not a permanent install you wouldn’t realize why it’s not used that way
9:23 It's a shame it took them so long to add some saucy characters to the game, but the late additions all had some fun stuff to play with. Menat, G, Kage, Gill, Seth, Rose, Akira, Oro... I swear some of these characters launched with more sauce than the entire season 1 cast combined.
It's a tough thing on the dev side because (this is a theory btw just based on what I've seen), I think devs are scared of making characters too broken and the game getting a bad rap, so they play it safe with the launch roster, see how the game plays, and then go from there. Obv the s1 dlc roster is planned in advance, but they have time to wait and see what type of tactics are strong, how people use resources, mechanics etc
@@LordKnightfgc there's also the fact that the longer devs can watch players of their game, the better they understand and can balance a more complicated thing. On top of that, starting with the basic shoto and iterating from there makes a lot of sense from a development standpoint.
@@LordKnightfgc I think you're partially right in that it _used_ to be that way, but thankfully - as we can see with SF6 - the new heads of the fighting game division are taking things in a simply better direction.
I think the reason that the Bacchus Sigh glitch wasn't found for so long was partly because of slow information but it's also like how I think LK was trying to say but didn't really explain well, is that unless it was unleveled mist finer, you'd never just DO it, since levels are an important resource and you usually want to keep them unless you can get something you know is guaranteed, because better Mist Finer is too good to give up for nothing. Even if someone just did a leveled mist finer in neutral and it hit unblockable, it would be easy to chalk it up to "they just got hit in neutral" instead of "they got unblockabled", since you can't clearly confirm if they were blocking or not in neutral just by watching, and getting hit could even gaslight the player into thinking "Guess I dashblocked too late" or "Guess I was holding 2 instead of 1"
One thing I want to add to this list is adachi B ziodyne in bbtag. A full screen projectile that lasts for like 5 seconds. In a team based game where you can switch to your partner that has really potent hi/low mix that can’t be pushblocked because it’s technically your partners move that your blocking and not the character advancing. And if that wasn’t enough if you’re close to the wall even if you burst and get hit by the very end of the projectile it causes a wall splat where you will eat a full combo anyway.
@@toosquare yes but there supers and cost resources, and that’s only true for Jin as narukami you can still punish it from full screen. Where as adachi projectile cost no meter and your freely allowed to switch to your other character to mix.

I remember the bacchus sigh glitch had to do with hitting johnny with blue burst specifically and it only took away the animation instead of the unblockable debuff as well. Otherwise, it worked as intended with every other attack. That's why it took so long to find iirc.
I feel like an important part of the Johnny situtation that didn't get brought up (unless I'm deaf, also a possibility) is that you're not actually going to be using Bacchus Sigh to begin with unless you're about to do an unblockable setup, and the really good setups are just everything-safe anyway so it's not like Johnny got smacked before landing the unblockable that often.
Honestly rev1 release bacchus sigh was broken enough as is without the infinite duration bug, back when it just flat out made mist finer unlockable rather than a stagger you have to lab around
You still have to, it's just that the situation is a bit better, but more importantly the combo he gets off the stagger is WAY worse than the one he'd get off the old unblockable

To put it into context when Brian said that just getting out of corner is already annoying: One of the patches in SFV where Cammy was Top 1, one of the reasons she was Top 1 is because if you cornered her while she had Trigger active and full meter, she could wakeup DP (one of the few "meterless" invincible DPs in the game) and cancel into CA. If you tried to meaty you'd get combo'd and put into the corner, if you blocked she was still safe from 98% of the cast because her whiffed CA in the corner moved her full screen. In short: Cornering Cammy while she had FULL resources meant that she could get out of the corner "for free" for SF standards.
The Taokaka reversal reminds me of Rose's Alpha Counter. Everyone else's does some damage and knocks you back, Rose's doesn't do any damage itself but it does switch sides in the corner and leaves you open for a full combo.
Brian didn't even mention the nasty cross up with the chicken feet flying over your head while the Stones hit you from behind. You'll see him use it 100 times in his videos and maybe one dude manages to block it.

Damn never knew that about taokaka. Thats wild lmaoooo. CT was something else.
I would say the yrc OS in vanilla Xrd is the most busted thing ive ever witnessed. Not being able to burst due to an OS that takes your burst is pretty damn crazy.
He was right about Gotenks spin but the wrong version. Around season 2.5 they accidentally forgot to scale his EX spin and released it like that. What did that mean? Well, everything you just saw but he could combo ex spin into ex spin spark ex spin assist ex spin and you were basically DEAD. This was still while he had ghost oki btw. Just The most annoying "what do I do here" thing you could possibly play.
Damn LK the beard is looking nice
the second I saw Ed on the screen I went "ONE TWO THREE"
isn't tao's gaurd cancel just like +R baiken but less bullshit because at least tao's costs meter ?
oh wait there is one difference , baiken's gaurd cancel can be baited (kinda) , unless you have 25% meter then it's free pressure
In cs1 it was by far the best guard cancel in the game. Baiken has od guard cancels too and I'll go over them sometime, but in old BB games, moves had like double the hit stop and os throw tech still teched throws for an eternity (13f?), so you couldn't make her block anything that wasn't an A button without her killing you lol
0:27 I hadn’t seen Mika in a while and…god damn
