I live in Port Elizabeth and was 20 years old when this happened to Allison. We were all in shock and are still sickened by what happened. Allison is so incredible.
I work in a sex offender treatment facility and it always blows my mind when looking at their criminal history the amount of times they violated parole or probation with the same offense that got them arrested the first time, but yet they continue to be let out only to violate and get arrested again. Some of their history starts in 1970s/80s with continuous violations until finally being arrested for the last time in the 2010s. It is just ridiculous how many chances they kept getting.
I agree with you on the death penalty, Bella. However, once some idiot politician decided that everyone who had served 13 years should get parole, then it’s hard not to wish they were already dead. Nobody who commits violent crimes should get out early. Other types of criminals should maybe get breaks on a case-by-case basis. But not violent criminals. Especially repeat offenders. Nope.
@@HalimaSJW they are the answer for violent crimes, not nonviolent crimes. Know how many humans have been raped and killed by repeat offenders? You might want to watch more true crime. This is one of millions of examples of a violent offender getting a light sentence and going on to commit more violent crimes. It’s very rare for a violent offender to not continue committing violent crimes. You can pretty much count on it. Long or life sentences are the answer to protect the public from violent criminals. That’s what these sentences are for. To protect people. But nonviolent offenders are often capable of being rehabilitated.
@@HalimaSJWeveryone know it won't prevent further crimes, however it will prevent further crimes by those specific violent criminals and make sure they can never do that to anyone ever again. I lived in South Africa in the 80's . I remember that car jackings and ambushes would happen quite frequently and a well known technique was for someone to lay in the road pretending to be injured, so may explain why first person never stopped.
8:42 - I literally can't keep my jaw shut, it just keeps hitting the floor every time Bella continues describing what Alison is living through. Having to hold your own head on. Having to hold your own guts in. I can't even begin to imagine what Alison was going through and even more floored that she survived all of that.
I will never understand why these guys were not charged with murder. They intended to murder her, dealt damage to her body that would have killed a person 99.9%. By all means, they murdered her. Just because her incredible strength and a string of miracles saved her it doesn't undo what they did. Alison is an inspiration and I'm glad that when she left her body she decided to fight and survive but also that she made a great life for herself. 💚
As someone who is a skeptic, hearing stories like these make me believe in something bigger than all of us. Especially when she described her soul leaving her body and defying all odds when she was on deaths door multiple times throughout that night.
A similar case with with that feeling is the Jennifer Schuett case. There were several miracles in her case as well. Even down to the fact that she was left on a fire ant hill which ironically is thought to be what saved her life, and the fire ant bite years later which she took as a sign from God
I'm from SA and last year for a work year end function we had Alison as the motivational speaker. Had the whole hall crying and still managed to make us all laugh. Such a strong and inspiring woman.❤
This was a really tough watch. The things that Alison endured and survived are inhuman. What an incredible woman Alison is. A true inspiration and miracle. I'm so happy to hear Alison could have children in the end! ❤️
It broke my heart and infuriated me at the same when I heard you say that they needed a verbal confirmation. I can’t believe that these “competent” officers would look at her and say, “Now talk.” Meanwhile she’s in an extreme condition. I pray that she lives a wonderful life with all the happiness and blessings in the world. I cannot fathom her mind and heart now as a survivor. Must be incredible. I hope one day I can have an ounce of that courage and strength.
i’m getting so emotional thinking about her in those moments after the attack, looking for help/unsure of how bad her injuries actually were 😢 what an unbelievably strong woman
I already knew the human body can be terrifyingly resilient, but to know there's people out there with the mental strength to match... I feel lightheaded just imagining those injuries. I just know I'd pass out if I ever experienced anything close to them. Alison has got to be one of the strongest people on earth.
Angels were truly helping her when they left her for dead. What a powerful woman. I can't imagine what was going through her head throughout the attack.
As a South African woman I was raised on Alison's story of strength and perseverance. She is a hero to all South women who live in fear of the ongoing gender based violence in the country. Unfortunately our justice system is still failing us and it's still a regular occurrence to see men who are out on bail awaiting trial committing crimes.
I stay in South Africa, about 9 hours away from Port Elizabeth. The lack of urgency with the emergency medical services and the pathetic excuse for our justice system with regards to rape unfortunately does not surprise me. 😢 Alison is such an incredible woman! Thank you for covering this case! P.s. None of us in SA know how you pronounce the new name either 😅
Wow, Allison’s story of survival is such a powerful one. She had to endure so much and yet she is now thriving! 💗 It brought happy tears to my eyes that she was able to have children after everything she had to endure from the monsters that had attacked her. Thank you Bella for sharing Allison’s story with all of us. 🥰
No matter how many times I’ve heard this story through different sources I always listen to it. The strength and determination it took her to not give up! Everything she had to deal with and overcome. Badass woman right there.

This is so weird, I heard about and was looking into this case for the first time yesterday and now you upload this! Alison is so incredible and brave, the people who did this to her are disgusting and evil! What she went through sounds so traumatic, it sounds so horrific knowing that your body is mutilated and falling apart and you have to hold it together!
The world is so lucky to have people who will go out of their way to help other people in a world full of people who just watch others suffer or die. I get it that sometimes people are just being careful, the world is scary after all. But these angels who just help without thinking twice, we are so blessed having them in this wicked place.
wow…i was in complete shock when you said she had to hold her head up… so so SO glad she was able to bring these men to justice despite living the impossible. I need to read her book!
This is an amazing video and description. I think that you're absolutely right about the reasons why the first drivers in the vehicle going by may have sped off. I've heard a few stories where killers prop bloodied carcasses in the middle of the road to lure people in. However, if you ever find a bloodied anything in the middle of the road and you're too hesitant to check it out, maybe instead call the police? It's easier for us to say so when we're on the outside looking in. What an incredibly brave soul this woman is. I literally can't even imagine what she went through. And to have to hold her own intestines and her own head back up properly is just ... mind blowing.
Throughout the world, rapists should be given a severe punishment. It's not just about physical trauma, it's the psychological attack that victim has to survive. Alison is literally exceptional.
I have no words to properly convey my emotions. The absolute horror that she went through sounds like a fictional story. No matter what you believe, her survival and constant bravery throughout this has a purpose beyond her. Her story of survival and strength made it possible for change. Even now. I'm just beside myself. She's an inspiration. I am disgusted and conflicted. Thank you for sharing her story. ❤️
Wow, Bella. I think this is one of your cases I fully remember where the ‘victim’ actually survived - and I gasped the whole way through it. The key word I see in the comments is ~miracle~. Alison’s story is full of miracles, her strength, the vet, the doctors and surgeons who saved her that night, are miracles. Allison is incredible. I thought about 4 different times throughout this story you were going to say this is where she passed away. A horrible story with an incredible ending. Allison, words will never describe how amazing you are!!!
the way you described how she was walking was insane, what an incredibly strong woman wow also as a survivor of SA, it’s really really hard to hear the “r” word so many times
It’s the same for me so I haven’t watched it yet. Is it used a lot and is it really graphic? Bella does amazing at keeping things respectful but with horrific cases it’s sometimes unavoidable.
I've thought about Alison and this story a lot since first hearing it on her documentary, she is truely amazing to have come through this, how strong she was during and right after her attack, to think to write their names down in case she didn't survive was just something else...I'm so happy that she lived through it and had her babies, I hope she only has happiness in her life ❤
One of her attackers is going to be released from prison. System claims he has been rehabilitated after 25 years. Horrible situation. His own family are in fear for their lives.
Imagine being raped, threatened with death, being strong enough to go to the police and then they’re let out to roam the streets. I can’t even imagine how how that poor woman felt. She must have been terrified 😢
I'm South African and I remember this case. I however did not know the extent of her injuries (I was only 9 or 10yo at the time), horrific! It's truly amazing and a miracle that she survived.

So, they made her say verbally their names, but they were let out after previous rape charges…. What is wrong with law department? I do have to say, Alison is a true hero!
This was a really hard case to hear, so horrible what happened to her. I can’t believe she got up and started walking towards the road. What a true fighter!
I just read an article that said these monsters were granted parole a few days ago and how they’re going to be ‘supervised’ for the rest of their lives… I’m absolutely livid
First Thank God she was given the strength and the doctors the knowledge to help this amazing woman, and I literally jumped for joy to hear she gave birth to 2 children.
Bella I’ve watched you for years- the way you cover the cases is so professional and this was such a horrific, abhorrent case, but what an incredible woman Alison is. Thank you for sharing this story with us, I was in tears at parts, thank you for always covering the cases in such detail and being so respectful to the families and the victims ❤
Bella said exactly what I always say about the death penalty. Life in prison without the possibility of parole is a much more brutal punishment. DP is a get out of jail free card, a quick shot in the arm and the easy way out. A long life in a miserable little cage to think about what you’ve done and what you’ve lost is so much worse. And that’s what vicious cretins like this deserve.
Until you think about the fact that you as a tax payer are paying for them to live their entire lives and most prisons take pretty good care of inmates.
Until some idiot politician thinks it’s ok to free them after just 13 years…. I think that “the worst of the worst” deserve the death penalty. And these dudes definitely fit the criteria. And it’s not like they get the needle the minute after they are convicted..! In my opinion they should be in jail for a good amount of years, like a decade, and then get the needle… if I was a victim I’d feel a hell of a lot better if these douchebags just evaporated from earth.
Life in prison would be great if they suffered, however they are fed, they have a place to sleep. How is that a punishment? Also, who said that a reoffending criminal will rehabilitate in 13 years? I’ve heard so many true crime stories were the most heinous crimes committed by that criminal were in fact a reoffending crime. They should not have rights when they disrespect human life this way. They did not just attempt to kill her after raping her, but tortured her. I can understand maybe letting a first time offender of theft out on bail, but even so a punishment is well deserved. What I cannot fathom is the consideration to allow these scum bags a second chance to take a life, or to ruin a life. Gosh if I’d been one of the first victims, I’d felt extremely angry at the justice system. How could their traumatic experience be taken so lightly just so someone else can suffer? Anyway, I hope those two live a long life and suffer in prison until their deaths and suffer eternally in hell.
Thank you for bringing light and attention to such an incredible case, Bella!! Alison's story deserves to be told and I hope others are inspired by her incredible grit and bravery in the face of such overwhelming & horrific circumstances.

And they are now out on parole!!! Even with the amount of times theyve done it again
Nope.
Waiting for folks to realize that’s not gonna prevent crime or stop this from happening again. Harsher punishments actually isn’t the answer.
@@HalimaSJW
This is true. IMO tho, I think violent rapist should never get out because the can never be “cured”, especially child rapists.
@@HalimaSJWeveryone know it won't prevent further crimes, however it will prevent further crimes by those specific violent criminals and make sure they can never do that to anyone ever again. It holds them properly accountable. We've seen multiple cases where someone gets out on parole and goes on to rape and kill people again.
@@lieslwright70 i know the numbers. Idk why people think no more prisons means not replacing jt with an actually effective system
I remember this shocking case, I was only a young teenager at the time and I've never forgotten it. Her survival is a miracle and she continues to be an inspiration.
Basically the police revictimized Alison...sadly that happens all to often...what an incrediably strong woman!
I remember when I first heard this story I was so shocked, one of the worst cases I have ever heard of and what an amazing strong woman ❤
I lived in South Africa in the 80's . I remember that car jackings and ambushes would happen quite frequently and a well known technique was for someone to lay in the road pretending to be injured, so may explain why first person never stopped.
I live in the US and I wouldn’t have stopped either. I would have driven straight to a phone to call for emergency services.
8:42 - I literally can't keep my jaw shut, it just keeps hitting the floor every time Bella continues describing what Alison is living through. Having to hold your own head on. Having to hold your own guts in. I can't even begin to imagine what Alison was going through and even more floored that she survived all of that.
I think her doctor's and nurses deserve some type of award for the lifesaving surgery's they did for her!
the concept of attempted murder is so stupid, like ur giving someone less time bc their bad at it, when the intent and the damage is the same
100% agree. I’ve always thought attempted murder should never be a charge, only murder
This woman is so incredibly strong and I was horrified to learn those monsters were granted parole just a month after you posted this video.
Oh my I’m 7 minutes in & my knees are weak from hearing what happened to her and when she STOOD UP!! She had angels watching over her that night..
i’m getting so emotional thinking about her in those moments after the attack, looking for help/unsure of how bad her injuries actually were 😢 what an unbelievably strong woman
Wow, what a horrible, terrifying experience! Amazing she survived!! So glad she was able to identify these sick a-holes!!
6 minutes in and I’m crying. I can’t imagine the mental and physical pain
“no one can survive that”
funny how he had to eat those words. this case reminds me so much of Mary Vincent. these are true survivors.
Angels had nothing to do with it

As a South African woman I was raised on Alison's story of strength and perseverance. She is a hero to all South women who live in fear of the ongoing gender based violence in the country. Unfortunately our justice system is still failing us and it's still a regular occurrence to see men who are out on bail awaiting trial committing crimes.
This case was absolutely brutal to listen to. Wow. It’s incredible Alison survived.
I stay in South Africa, about 9 hours away from Port Elizabeth. The lack of urgency with the emergency medical services and the pathetic excuse for our justice system with regards to rape unfortunately does not surprise me. 😢
Alison is such an incredible woman! Thank you for covering this case!
P.s. None of us in SA know how you pronounce the new name either 😅
Right on PE's name 😅😂🇿🇦
Is it a completely new name that's been selected or like an old one that was used by the natives? Why did they change it?
This was shocking! Poor woman! Those individuals are not human beings. I don't understand how these kind of people exist.
This woman has resilience, OMG, she is a hero…
I’m so so happy someone finally covered this case!
This woman is phenomenally strong
This happened in my country, South Africa, and it has haunted me
No matter how many times I’ve heard this story through different sources I always listen to it. The strength and determination it took her to not give up! Everything she had to deal with and overcome. Badass woman right there.
I'm so excited that someone is finally covering Allison's story. I read her book as a child. She's the strongest South African I know!
I remember reading this book, her bravery and strength is incredible. I can’t believe she survived this
I literally cannot believe she survived this nightmare ordeal.....its absolutely incredible! Those creatures who harmed her, Hell ain't hot enough for them😠😠
Happy to see your beautiful face , Bella. I heard this case about a year ago and I don’t think I’ll ever forget it!! What an absolute warrior Allison is , she’s a hero !!!! I hope the rest of her life is full of only good things. Bless her ♥️🕊️
3 hours to ckean and reinsert her organs is an incredible feat. What amazing surgeons
Such a cruel & sadistic case. It really was a miracle she survived & didn't get sepsis or something. What a survivor, she is the epitome of brave. I feel so sorry for Alison, those creeps are out and free to live their lives
I remember Alison. She once came to my form university on Womens day to tell her story. Ive never cried so much for someone i didnt know
Throughout the world, rapists should be given a severe punishment.
Yay for South African cases! Fun fact, my mum actually knows her from school! She is a truly incredible woman
It’s so sad so many rapes occur there 😢
Hey Bella! This is an unknown for me, always love to see new cases.
The sad thing is they have now been released from jail. Absolute monsters.
I actually cannot believe they have been released. I am so disgusted. I can't even begin to imagine how she feels.
Allison, words will never describe how amazing you are!!!
the way you described how she was walking was insane, what an incredibly strong woman wow
also as a survivor of SA, it’s really really hard to hear the “r” word so many times
It’s the same for me so I haven’t watched it yet. Is it used a lot and is it really graphic? Bella does amazing at keeping things respectful but with horrific cases it’s sometimes unavoidable.
@@urmomdotcom191I’m sorry to hear that and I hope that you’re doing okay. this might be a little late but it is graphic.
The terrible and tragic addition to this is that these two monsters were granted parole in June 2023. It is beyond comprehension!!!

This case has always haunted me but gave me faith also. Alison is a hero & a Goddess!!
I've thought about Alison and this story a lot since first hearing it on her documentary, she is truely amazing to have come through this, how strong she was during and right after her attack, to think to write their names down in case she didn't survive was just something else...I'm so happy that she lived through it and had her babies, I hope she only has happiness in her life ❤
Wow she is SO strong!!🙏🏻💓
What an incredibly sad, but inspiring story. I can’t even fathom a human being capable of enduring such craziness.
One of her attackers is going to be released from prison. System claims he has been rehabilitated after 25 years. Horrible situation. His own family are in fear for their lives.
Women are really super strong. And this woman is a super hero, miracles do exist and sometimes the good wins over the bad.
It's truly amazing and a miracle that she survived.
okay first, your skin is gorgeous!!!
second, im so glad you posted i’ve missed you, i haven’t watched this yet but i hope justice was served and that the victim (im assuming from the comments that she survived thank god) is healthy and as happy as she can be
So, they made her say verbally their names, but they were let out after previous rape charges…. What is wrong with law department?
I do have to say, Alison is a true hero!
Writing their names in the sand should have been enough! How smart and brave she is!
The worst part is her attackers just got out on parole. How great is that. I cannot believe this country
Bella! I am a South African and it is for that reason that I came across your coverage of the Henry Van Breda case. Subsequently a follower too.
That same beach sand and charcoal that inundated the wounds is probably what kept her from bleeding out. She is a true survivor. ❤
Alison is such an incredible amazing inspiring woman!! I am so proud of all she has done and deserves to have all the happiness in the world now.
The survival is extraordinary, what a woman. Very hard to hear what she went through, its unfathomable evil.
I don't even have words.
what an incredible, powerful, resilient woman. just. wow.
@@mariavelasquez184 I agree that most prisons aren’t really a punishment.
They just got parole.....had they received they death sentence Alison would not be worrying now 😢😢
Thank you for bringing light and attention to such an incredible case, Bella!! Alison's story deserves to be told and I hope others are inspired by her incredible grit and bravery in the face of such overwhelming & horrific circumstances.
