So for now its pending or wait until we can see how widespread those issues are.

With everything going on, on screen, isn't that a huge tax on the servers? Fortnite completely got rid of it's 50v50 mode because w/all the building, + all the people, they would get server crashes. And you know Epic has massive server banks. I would not be surprised if that's happening here to some degree, but I may also be really naive about it. You're the expert ACG, do you think that's the possible problem? I mean, it's their bread and butter; hard to imagine they'd let it fail a second time.
On the pricing note you said hold out but does that review change if you went from full priced new copy vs the upgraded $20 version though? Just out of curiosity.
So what was the verdict? buy, wait for a sale or never touch?
You can't aim down sights that's disappointing was thinking of buying it cuz it's on sale but I'm probably going to pass on it
This game felt incredible to play, but it felt like there weren't enough campaigns. I'm glad they released this edition with all of the DLC. Great game.

It’s a blast. I’m one of the few who enjoy it exclusively as a single player campaign. Good to pick up and play.
Is the AI at least competent when playing as teammates offline?

@@gregoryfreeman9304 they can't pick up items or new weapons so... makes it very difficult on any difficulty above 2, difficulty 3 is possible just hope for luck with traps they give you, so being locked on difficulty 3 and lower makes it hard to lvl up ect because all the coins needed to lvl up classes and guns its definitely a grind. Considering l4d ai could heal you and themselves use Stims and pain pills and change guns id say the ai is bad in this game.
@@BlargTheEnderman They do pickup guns once you get to an ammo box refill with new weapons. They only act static and dumb when trying to respond to specials or holding objectives for horde defense. At killing normal zeds tho, they're quite competent.

having fun with this game so far. really like how 1st person view makes it feel more intense.

I'm actually thrilled that WWZ-A can be played offline, preserving this fun experience for any gamer who wants to experience some zed-shredding fun when the (inconsistent servers) close up shop forever...
Man i was so hyped for the first person mode and now i feel used because of the you can’t look through the scope the should really add that in a future update
They did that on purpose, similar to l4d

From the upgrading of the weapons to upgrading the classes to the different classes in pvp and pve . I just love the systems at place in this game . Gives yiu so much to work for. And I almost forgot they added cosmetics

Great review as always. The FPS mode has actually made me want to check this out. My only hope is that some point in the future that Aliens Fireteam Elite offers the same FPS mode.

The reason this did so well is the absence of an even decently made co op zombie shooter. I'm hoping Back 4 Blood will be great since we're never getting Left for Dead 3.

I feel like with the sheer amount of zombies and how fast they come at you, aiming down the sights isn't really necessary
But in the times that you are trying to avoid sheer amount of zombies to come at you by going silent, it is quite important.

@@RongoPro realism aside, its just dumb, your character looks like they are moving their head closer down the barrel like an absolute pleb, would feel especially dumb if theres a scope on top of the barrel lol
either way new maps and guns look good, ill be sticking to third person
@@RongoPro Not saying realism, but not able to look through that beautiful scope/ sights when they are there, I don't know. It's just missing out the point.
I mean the sniper rifles we can use it, at least I wish to see other rifle's sights as well.

I was so excited to get back into this last night. And then the second level in Rome kept crashing as soon as I got to the last stand location. Had to turn it off but ill be jumping back in after work to try Kamchatka
For the next DLC, I'd like to see more missions in major U.S. cities. It would be amazing to see campaigns set in L.A., Chicago, Detroit, or even Toronto for that matter!
I'd rather see countries like India or China.
Canada Missions would be cool as the movie ends with an army building up in Nova Scotia, Canada

Loving the first person view, more immersive of course. But you can’t beat the 3rd person. I feel you get a better view of what’s happening. World feels larger, and the zombie hordes feel more threatening. MYbe that’s just me. But still great to have the added first person. Il flip between them.
It's just you. 3rd person just feels like a shoot em up rather then survival.

As a new player, I'm loving it. Just playing 1st person. Just wish melee was 1st person too like l4d, the camera change is disorienting.

really wanted to know if they added to horde mode my friend and I loved that but one map was just poor needs more and felt after a while like there was no progression going past think it was round 25 so much they could ahve done with that.
I'm 100% the target audience for switching to first person. I just couldn't get into wwz, and part of that was forcing me to stare at my unattractive boring premade character the whole time, not to mention fighting with the movement controls.

Imo dude this game isn’t subpar at all, and I play a lot of zombie games, from VR to flat screen. This game doesn’t do so much well that it’s never going to be topped but tbh it does a lot of things better than L4D 1 and 2. The technology is one of the reasons for that sure but still it needs to be said. Seeing as many zombies as you see here charge at you is amazing, the maps are far better than the ones L4D 1/2 had, only thing those games REALLY had over this one was the mod capability which made a great modding community. But other than that, imo WWZ is a better game. Story wise eh idk because story isn’t a huge focus for either game and I don’t really care for either of their stories. But sheer fun wise and gameplay wise, judging L4D vs WWZ, WWZ wins ngl.
@@Mal_3D Agreed! The game was a sleeper hit for me and a friend when we decided to give it a try on launch. We talked about it alot and what we kept coming back to when trying to describe what we liked about it was its not super innovative but it takes elements from other great games and combines them (the class system not directly but basically from killing floor and the sort of campaign point to point format of L4D). Plus we really loved how the campaigns were super diverse with its maps and settings and jumping to a whole different group and seeing what they were going through. Story is never a big point usually with these types of games but still we felt like no game really had totally different maps like it did. Anyway we put a ton of hours into it then moved on a bit but plan on coming back to it for this expansion!

This is a great example of why i enjoy first person. It really makes this game feel so much more intense. Might have to snag this upgrade.
Love wwz upon release and ready to hop back in. Only thing was lacking upon release to me was more content.

I can only assume with their further down the line extra upgrade will actually include aim down sights. It requires a lot of extra weapon alignment to use both modes they probably just couldn't do it in time
Yo just FYI. With the aftermath upgrade you're only buying 6 maps and the 1st person view. All the weapons and such is a free update. If you're upgrading from the goty edition you're not getting much but if you're upgrading from base game it's a good deal

Been playing this on and off for years. Its amazing. Does need more content but it had gotten better. They keep updating this game with awesome stuff for YEARS. Still multiplayer is basically abandoned although it is fun. Horde has gotten now with two new maps and two XL maps for next gen.
New episode coming soon AND they revamped the weapon system to add perks to the guns. All classes got new perks added to each column.
One of the best games ive ever played but yeah they did need more content a lot sooner (example: trinkets are useless, lack of skins, mod support, no new multiplayer maps, etc)

It would've been fun with a better framerate. Unless you played on PC and had a good one, I just can't play an unstable 30 fps game anymore. It drives me nuts but that's me

Loved it. Me and a friend played a hell out of the game. Ran great too. Ultra settings 1440 and I was getting over 100 FPS

How does using first person effect your ability to track zombies that spawn behind you? Is the directional sound good enough that you won't get taken down from behind without knowing someone's there?
@@Kronos0999 My impression was the sound was good but I didn't feel he was specific enough about zombies creeping up on you. This game loves silent attackers.

Hope this one has OCE servers. That was the only thing holding me back from playing it in Australia. Feels terrible trying to pick off lone zombies because of the desync.

@@ceaserknk6640 No OCE servers unfortunately. You can host a private match but only your friends can join and you can't play cross-platform. Really poor form by them this time around, it's pretty scummy to expect OCE players to pay the same price for what is objectively an inferior experience because they want to save money on hiring servers.
Even though you can say WWZ isn’t as big of a name drop as L4D, WWZ has been the experience most people waiting for B4B want. It’s a great time to have some zombie games to go back and forth with. I’ve also played on PC with my friend on XB1X when that first expansion/rework dropped.
I randomly load this game up whenever I'm bored So any update is always welcomed.
The fact that original World War Z owners on Epic have only to purchase a discounted upgrade to have full access to Aftermath, even is they only owned the base game (and not the GOTY edition) which was offered by Epic some time ago, is really appreciable.
It even works if you got it for free when it was as well

I noticed a lack of muzzle flashes in most of the review (except for in one dark, interior section).
They made the first person only menu selectable because it's only available in Aftermath, not the earlier game.
how does the upgrade work? I have world war z on epic. If I buy Aftermath upgrade, will that change my original base game?

vulkan version crashed on me everytime - now theres a shocker lol. you can directly go into the Radeon settings with the DX11 version set in game, but turn ON the AMD texture sharpening setting from there. I do this with all my games, just cant trust Vulkan with any game.

All honesty. Connecting and staying connected was the main reason I stopped playing this game a few years ago. It was fun until it wasn't.
This game at launch was pretty bad imo. Lots of bugs and connectivity issues that plagued normal gameplay. its been patched to death now, and its probably more than serviceable. I've already been turned off from it though
So if I get the ungraded addiction do I get all the dlc or do I just get the first person mode

Love your content, but my man... AMD FSR is not a 'sharpening' filter or an AI filter. Its an upscaling pass (filter is if its applied after the frames rendered, this is in game so its not a filter). Its decidedly isn't using AI though.

I have the game bought on Epic Games Store. the server connection is a turn off for me, I tend to get disconnected from time to time. I'm not sure if this is only an Epic games server problem :(

The online issues has been there since original release, funny that 2 years later they never bothered fixing it
i play solo so that dont bother me one bit. also, your playing online, it cant always be perfect because everyone cant afford best wifi.
