My main issue with this series in the last couple of releases is the lack of a more graphic violence option. The x-ray style was an awesome addition that was so great it was "borrowed" by the Mortal Kombat devs for obvious reasons, but it hasn't evolved passed that. I'd like to see the option for an extra realistic damage model where you are canoeing dudes domes or blowing off parts of limbs and it translates to the model, not just the x-ray cam.

Hence the term "through and through". An adjective is a describing word. He described ACG's review as "through". Through has more than just the meaning you think it has. Absolutely Love the Sniper Elite Series!!! Replay value is through the roof and the DLC levels are great also! Hope they keep making these, my favorite game series by far!
I just started playing this game a few days ago. I'm super impressed. It's a lot like Hitman but WW2. I'm only in the second mission but I'm having a ton of fun going from up close combat to long range shots while also setting up traps from time to time. It runs well and it's fun. It seems kind of underrated.
I so highly rate that you shouted out Delrith. I had no idea he was still creating content but have seen him on the platform since the late noughties I think? Always great reviews, thankyou. 👊
Was waiting for this before pre-ordering, glad to hear they've continued making a solid game this many sequels in. Sad to hear Easy Anti-Cheat is the anti-cheat of choice, in my experience it's absolutely worthless in stopping cheaters and people are definitely going to be seeing invulnerable invaders within a week of launch.
EAC sucks, when I was playing Elden Ring and Lost Ark, I couldn't just exit out of one and load up the other. I had to exit Elden Ring (a game I only play single player) and wait 5 minutes, then open up Lost Ark and watch 1000s of bots run around (Amazon recently banned 1 million bot accounts). It's a joke, so anti consumer.
Been playing Sniper Elite since the first installment. Really glad to see it become such a fleshed out, polished gaming experience. My first ever pre-order for Sniper Elite 5 is downloading as I'm writing this comment. Bravo, Rebellion! BTW, your reviews are top-notch. Respect.
@@blackdynamite_5470Ok, so..playing through the first level, I noticed that the AI isn't that different from 4, and there are some janky animations here and there...for example, when you get to cover, when you do some sabotaging or carrying a body..or my favourite, droping a few ledges down when you're climbing...its hilarious...nothing too bad, and hopefully they can patch it. The story is....well, typical for SE Graphics are better than 4, they look very sharp. It has FSR if you play in 4k or something, although I recomend not using it becouse it's version 1.0 so yeah..I hoped they would go for DLSS but ok. I play on a 48" TV in 1440p and it looks great on High/Ultra. Load times are fascinating, the whole level loads in a few seconds if you have an SSD so that's awesome. Basically it's 4 but better...same formula, slightly newer tech and more polish. I got on sale for 37 euros..well worth the money so far. Haven't tried multiplayer yet, but I will when I get the time. Easy Anti-Cheat is kind of a worry because hackers might be a problem, but until you play multiplayer, you dont have to install it or anything. Yah, that's pretty much it. I hope you'll enjoy the game. It's very fun!
Did you happen to go back to SE3? If you enjoyed SE4, I think you'll really enjoy SE3 as well and you can find it very cheap on sale with some regularity.
Not going to lie, seeing enemies go down from headshots like the true off switch that those shots are is great attention to detail. Nothing kills shooters of any kind for me more than immersion breaking death animations.
I couldn't agree more. You know red read 2 obviously has some of the best death animations if not the best ive ever seen. Then you take a game like ghost recon break point or wildlands with those dumb over acted death animations, makes no sense and ruins the immersion completely. I served over seas and ive seen the off switch plenty of times and it totally ruins a game when they do it wrong. Every game company making shooters should be trying to at least emulate the same level of violence as red dead. We know the rage engine is never going to be used by anyone other than rockstar but they could at least try to earn that M rating.
The Spy Academy mission in SE5 is worth the price of admission alone. Playing that on authentic now and it is unreal how much was put into the level design.
What a wholesome message, encouraging us to subscribe to our favorite channels. It took me years to actually make a TH-cam account and subscribe to channels but I’m glad I did because I want to support creators like you!
I been sniper elite fan since they one, Sniper Elite Games reminds me my grandpa saying to me if it works leave it alone, if is not broken don't brake it..lmao !! And that's the main reason I like Sniper Elite game, they simple the campaign maps are pretty big keeps yourself busy . Looking forward to invasion mode looks pretty cool, great game review thank you
I enjoy all of these, but there are plenty of people in other wars we can shoot. Vietnam with a camo and real concealment mechanics would be cool. Even a game on the Pacific front or playing as a Russian on the Eastern front would a nice change.
people keep proposing the vietnam thing and don't realize that the Vietnamese weren't villains so making a game that revolves around graphically shooting them wouldn't go over well.
@@pffpffovich2398 not sure what you mean by which ones but America invaded Vietnam because they felt threatened by the spread of communism. Vietnam was just minding their own business, they're not the bad guys
So glad this is getting mostly positive reviews so far. Been following the franchise since Afrika and while I'm not a huge FPS gamer, SE is where I turn to for my fix. One of the very rare cases where stealth gameplay is actually fun for me. You did say you had bugs but I'm sure they'll fix it, they did a good job with 3 and 4. At least it'll make up for the bugfest that is Contracts...
@@CNice861 Agreed! Ironically, the 1st person pov is supposed to feel more "immersive" but it's always been the opposite for me. It works in some cases (not knocking on Halo or Half-Life, they pioneered an entire genre) but most of the time, I prefer 3rd person.
Honestly this day in age i'm all for the simplicity of the game. Making changes to the game at its core to make improvements but never really getting to crazy to try and switch up what has become to be the norm for SE. I'm tired of games just trying to do far to much and killing off their game. Special shoutout to Gears of War from my personal experience for that.
I've always loved this franchise since the beginning. This one has been installed for the last few days just waiting for the unlock tomorrow. I always play with enemy tagging off, as having it on feels like having a wall hack and ruins the immersion.
What was your gamertag? The early days alot of ppl recognized eachother when Playing multiplayer just curious, do you remember pinkpanther, Jwitten, or bulldogmilk? If you don't that's fine, thought it would be cool if it's somebody we played against bc it was so small back in the day 😂
Half-way into the video and you have already convinced me that I want this...when I had decided that I wasn't gonna bother with another Sniper title; well done! The living locations with the booby-trap mechanic (is that wholly new?), was the clincher for me, although new games modes will always be a plus. Request: can you make some time stamps in your videos for the different sections? For example I don't care too much about the graphics (though I appreciate its inclusion), and it would be helpful to skip that section for gameplay etc.
There was a time where I wanted to skip to the Audio part of a video because the game just sounded so damn good (Gears 5 maybe?) so time stamps would be nice
The booby trapping bodies was available in SE4. I'm pretty sure that sabotaging vehicles to create soundmasking is new though. I'll have to check and see if that was also possible in 4. If it was, I sure made the game harder on myself by not knowing that. Also, if you've sabotaged a vehicle, an enemy will spend time repairing it, and if you are lurking nearby, it's easy to get the drop on them.
I love this series SO MUCH. If I had to pay $200 for 5 I'd be happy enough. There isnt anything like it. I am really enjoying slowly wading in to the world, never knowing where danger lies... I can't believe it's on Game Pass.
@@kjj26k patronage is the highest form of appreciation. This game is so thoughtfully put together. A lot of studios call in a yearly iteration of a franchise; Rebellion crafted a labour of love here. I've been with the series since V2 and loved every single game afterwards. This looks like another winner in my book. Thanks a lot for your incredibly helpful reviews, Karak.
Since you seem to know a lot sbout sniper elite can you tell me what you think about 5? Many people dont like it. Its my first sniper elitr since i got it for free because of a promotion and ive been enjoyong it.
@@Gonger02 Sorry man, I haven't gotten around to buying Sniper Elite 5 yet. I can say that the previous games (with the exception of the first) are pretty good games to play. Obviously the only thing really noticeable about them are the scale of the levels being a bit smaller from each game, but it still holds up. Hope that helps!
The AI looking for you where you where instead of where you are is actually a good thing (not new I know) I remember in the second and third one if enemy’s where alerted and you shot a second time you could suddently alert the whole base to your exact position. I’d love it if you could hear enemy’s calling out your location to make this kind of thing more realistic. I.E why does every one know’s where I am if the only one who saw me is the isolated sniper that is currently shooting at me in a building far away from anybody else.
Ooh the choice of FSR 1.0 only grinds my gears, I could notice it at some points before you mentioned it and was wondering what on Earth is going on (unless it was footage from one of the consoles at the start) Game is well priced in my region, will give it a thought after payday. Always love how with each entry in the series there are noticeable improvements whilst keeping true to their formula. As always thanks for the review, glad you managed to get a review copy!
This is what I expected AAA gaming would've gone with most other franchises: improve the interior, beautify the exterior, but stick with the familiar. Other franchises seem to eschew from one or two of those tenets, but I'm really glad Karl's Adventures Against Nazi Balls seems to be justifying the "5" in its title.
I've been a huge fan of the Sniper Elite franchise ever since Sniper Elite V2 and I've beaten every title since then. Though, I've never played the first game on the original Xbox. Having said that, I'm glad that the series is still going strong after all these years. Sure, there have been some hiccups along the way. However, for the most part, the series has been pretty consistent with every release. Sniper Elite 5 is easily Rebellion's best entry to date. Visually, the game is gorgeous in just about every single aspect. Performance is solid. The same is true for the voice acting, for the most part, as well as the weapon sounds. The sound of a shot being fired off as it travels a long distance on its way to rupturing an enemy's skull is immensely satisfying. The A.I. has definitely been improved and the game offers many difficulty options that can be tweaked to suit one's play style. There are a lot of tools at the player's disposal. The game isn't merely a sniping gallery where you sit back and fire shot after shot. In fact, you have to mix things up in order to decide how you want to approach each mission because there isn't a single tactic that works universally. Level design is easily the best that I've seen in a Sniper Elite title. Including co-op and having the ability to invade a player's game are the cherry on top as far as I'm concerned. Sniper Elite 5 is a day one purchase. There is no doubt about it. At its heart, this is still the same Sniper Elite that people have to come to know and love. The improvements and options make a series that was already great to begin with, even better. Solid work on Rebellion's part! Thanks once again Karak for another honest, unbiased and detailed review! I really appreciate it!
Thanks for this awesome review. I’ve just started my own gameplay channel recently with SE4 and was planning on buying SE5 soon and this has just inspired and encouraged me to the next level.
I’ve played 2-4 and loved each. 4 really felt a lot like a Hitman game and this one looks like more of that, which is great. I’ll definitely be checking this out on GamePass.
Always a pleasure to watch your game reviews. I like the new presentation of how you introduce the topics such as presentation, audio, etc on the screen very nice touch.
June 2024: I patiently waited a couple of years, and just picked up the complete edition for $55, which is about what I feel the game should have been on launch plus with all that included. Patience pays off, eventually I’m sure this will be $20 but I’m more than happy with this as a long time fan of Sniper Elite 4.
Love your reviews man. I go to Angry Joe for the fun, but you for the facts. Speaking of AJ, nice to hear you rep Delrith. He's good people and deserves all the praise he gets.
Angry Joe doesnt know what does it mean to do a review, always looking for a hole in everything, i think he is bored with what is he doing, bored with industry, he needs to get a regular job
man, thanks for talking about easy anti cheat, i played 3 games now that are using it and unfortunately i see it as the preferred option on new releases (?) and i really dont understand how it passed any kind of testing... the only explanation in my mind is that they were upfront and pitched it like "well, the game will take around 5 to infinite more minutes to load, but we can guarantee 10% less cheaters/illegal copies in game" "sounds perfect, take our money and implement it!"
Hey ACG great review! As a gamer looking for a splinter cell style stealth game in the fog of war of rinse and repeat this is just what I needed. Such a great game! Really impressed by this, thanks Rebellion!
I think this series is great. I really dont know what more one could ask for from a sniping game that the last few Sniper Elite games. I wouldnt mind if they started doing a spin off series from different wars in history too.
Thanks for the great review. I was highly hoping you would review this game, and was excitedly joyed to see it as your newest video today. Going to send this video to my dad. If I had a PC capable of DX12 I'd totally buy a copy for myself and convince my dad (it would take little, he's now played more SE4 than I have) to buy it too. We really enjoy playing the levels together even though I've played the heck out of SE4 before I gave him an extra key I had.
Thanks for a great review -I've been a huge fan of the franchise from the beginning. Good to hear the level design continues to be good and expansive because that's one change I've always wanted, as most missions have been pretty linear. I must say I've never been a fan of the bullet animations --the first few times were pretty cool, but after a dozen displays of mangled flesh and bone, I got bored and impatient with the animations. I always thought of it as a cheap Mortal Kombat-style gimmick that completely takes me out of the immersion of the moment every time. Anyway, your review was far more detailed than most and touched on a lot of pros and cons I hadn't even considered, so good job!
I’ve loved sniper elite and Zombie army, didn’t play 4 or 5 because I got caught up at 3 but then I continued with Carl in Zombie army. This review has made me buy 4&5 so I can get back to see Carl be a badass, unsung protagonist
I own Sniper Elite V2 Remastered, 3, 4 and yet never bought Sniper Elite 5 because its on Gamepass which is great. I actually just started playing and its awesome. All around fun game with big open spaces to explore and find collectibles. You can spend hours on each mission planning stealth or just searching for stuff. Amazing game. The Sniper Elite games are fantastic. I also own all the Ghost Warrior games aswell. They are fun also. I hope we see more from the Sniper Elite Series
Didn't even realise this was coming. Enjoyed Sniper Elite 4 but felt it was too short and had too many achievements aimed at multiple playthroughs, will deffo pick this up sometime though...
These are perfect gamepass games. Like I don’t think id spend 60$ to buy this on my playstation or Xbox. But i get to play this for under 5$ a month. Buying this One game would pay for a year of gamepass. I get to 100% this in 2-3 weeks and play dozens of other games. Worth way more than the off chance i might go back and play this in 2 years after I already 100%ed the game. There’s must buy new games like Elden Ring no doubt im buying day 1. Then there’s ehh idk games that fall in the middle like this game. Where gamepass is perfect for this.

Huge love for the series. The father-in-law and I took turns going through the first one on different difficulties. I was the first to do it on Sniper Elite mode, and you can bet I did a little celebration dance. That first one was tough! Defo getting this, cheers mate.
I have a feeling you already have the game but it’s worth it in case you don’t
@@average__height8033 I was stunned to find it on gamepass. I was going to buy it but hey, even better.
As long as humans remain monke, totally offline/offline-capable games will always have a place in my heart.
Not even going to touch the invasions
EAC sucks, when I was playing Elden Ring and Lost Ark, I couldn't just exit out of one and load up the other. I had to exit Elden Ring (a game I only play single player) and wait 5 minutes, then open up Lost Ark and watch 1000s of bots run around (Amazon recently banned 1 million bot accounts). It's a joke, so anti consumer.
@Jim Bianco according to who? You???

Been playing Sniper Elite since the first installment. Really glad to see it become such a fleshed out, polished gaming experience. My first ever pre-order for Sniper Elite 5 is downloading as I'm writing this comment. Bravo, Rebellion!
BTW, your reviews are top-notch. Respect.

Some suggestions for Sniper 6?
@@blackdynamite_5470Ok, so..playing through the first level, I noticed that the AI isn't that different from 4, and there are some janky animations here and there...for example, when you get to cover, when you do some sabotaging or carrying a body..or my favourite, droping a few ledges down when you're climbing...its hilarious...nothing too bad, and hopefully they can patch it.
The story is....well, typical for SE
Graphics are better than 4, they look very sharp.
SE4 was the first I played, and it hooked me. Great solo and coop play. Looking forward to this. Happy to see it'll be in Game Pass, as well.
Impact of weapons really does make or break a shooter.
Absolutely that!!
There’s no off switch for me id eat a 50 cal to the face and walk it off. So it’s different in every situation..
I had to reread this 5 times before I realised you weren't saying SE has game breaking animations look
Loved Sniped Elite 3, missed 4 but this looks like it’s worth a go. Was especially good to notice it’s on GamePass!
Give SE4 a go. It's a huge leap over SE3 which I also enjoyed.
3, 4, and 5 are all fun to play
These games are always just good fun. I love to turn off the HUD, set the difficulty to high, and set the ammo to super high.
Answer is : Play it
I been sniper elite fan since they one, Sniper Elite Games reminds me my grandpa saying to me if it works leave it alone, if is not broken don't brake it..lmao !!
Even a game on the Pacific front or playing as a Russian on the Eastern front would a nice change.
newly constructed Berlin Wall. East Germany vs West Germany. Tensions extremely on edge = Cold War, circa 1965
people keep proposing the vietnam thing and don't realize that the Vietnamese weren't villains so making a game that revolves around graphically shooting them wouldn't go over well.
@@avis_88 Which ones? There were 2 sides in that war
@@pffpffovich2398 not sure what you mean by which ones but America invaded Vietnam because they felt threatened by the spread of communism. Vietnam was just minding their own business, they're not the bad guys
@@avis_88 You do know there was north Vietnam supported and financed by USSR and south Vietnam backed by USA? And no, i'm not talking about Korea.
The review I've been waiting for, thank you man! Now I'm chomping at the bit to pick up my Deluxe Edition tomorrow!
Ya huge surprise for me dude. Loved this
Champing!
My favorite sniping franchise ever! I love how each installment just keeps getting better and better.
Nothing like a solid 3rd pov game where you can actually see what your character is doing
@@CNice861 Agreed! Ironically, the 1st person pov is supposed to feel more "immersive" but it's always been the opposite for me. It works in some cases (not knocking on Halo or Half-Life, they pioneered an entire genre) but most of the time, I prefer 3rd person.
@@sorv5790 Same here i find 3rd person stealth mechanics more enjoyable seems like you can take more advantage of the environment
3rd is much better than 1st for stealth games
yeah - gave up early with Doom Eternal - was just too hectic and arcade for my tastes (and yes, I played doom, quake, etc...since the DOS days)
"Four Vocal Cords in the shape of giant nuts." Prob the greatest quote ever. Love your reviews. Keep up the great work.
Was looking forward this review before I play it on Gamepass PC. Thanks
If you don't that's fine, thought it would be cool if it's somebody we played against bc it was so small back in the day 😂
I'm really enjoying this game so far! in some ways it's nearly a true successor to the Saboteur game that came out many years ago.
And guys don't forget... Barbed wire will stop you sneaking around enemies! Because that's what barbed wire does. ')
Yeah timestamps would be a good idea
There was a time where I wanted to skip to the Audio part of a video because the game just sounded so damn good (Gears 5 maybe?) so time stamps would be nice
The booby trapping bodies was available in SE4. I'm pretty sure that sabotaging vehicles to create soundmasking is new though. I'll have to check and see if that was also possible in 4. If it was, I sure made the game harder on myself by not knowing that. Also, if you've sabotaged a vehicle, an enemy will spend time repairing it, and if you are lurking nearby, it's easy to get the drop on them.
Fun fact: The CEO of Rebellion Games, the company who creates Sniper Elite, has a TH-cam channel called Modern History TV. He's a cool guy.

I spit tea out my nose while I was driving. Thanks bro.
I love this series SO MUCH. If I had to pay $200 for 5 I'd be happy enough. There isnt anything like it. I am really enjoying slowly wading in to the world, never knowing where danger lies... I can't believe it's on Game Pass.
That’s dumb
Yes, yes, you love the thing you love...now don't give them reasons to fleece you for it!!
@@kjj26k patronage is the highest form of appreciation. This game is so thoughtfully put together. A lot of studios call in a yearly iteration of a franchise; Rebellion crafted a labour of love here. It’s practically perfect. My comment is just to say wow, amazing job, you deserve the fruits of your efforts.
I pre downloaded this with Gamepass , I wasn’t 100-% sure I was gonna play until I say this ! Thanks
Thank you for review. Also it is included in Gamepass for Xbox and PC if that helps.
Ooh the choice of FSR 1.0 only grinds my gears, I could notice it at some points before you mentioned it and was wondering what on Earth is going on (unless it was footage from one of the consoles at the start)
Game is well priced in my region, will give it a thought after payday. Always love how with each entry in the series there are noticeable improvements whilst keeping true to their formula.
As always thanks for the review, glad you managed to get a review copy!
It is on gamepass day one of you wanna try it
Dude your break down review on games are soo Epic. Awesome content like always.🎮🎮🎮👍👍👍
Love the shoutout to Delrith! He’s definitely worth a subscribe
"its called sniper elite 5 not carl talking to a bunch of people giving hugs."
legit laughed so hard
Just bought the deluxe version on PC. Absolutely loved the 4th game. ACG with the outstanding review wins my heart again!
If you are wondering about that castle location: it's called Mont Saint-Michel and is found in North-Western France in real life. And is mostly ruins.
Thanks for this awesome review. I’ve just started my own gameplay channel recently with SE4 and was planning on buying SE5 soon and this has just inspired and encouraged me to the next level.
Love the video! I was back and forth on this one and this helped me make a decision. Thanks for what you do.
Game pass day 1. I'm gonna jump in. Recently beat sniper elite 4 also on game pass. Was fun and ran great on series X.
Great video! Always love to watch your game reviews. Many of my game purchases are based on the info you provide in a review :)
Yea this dude is the best
Thanks for the heads up, I had no idea Delrith had his own channel. I used to love his short reviews on AJS
The next Sniper Elite (6) should be in the Pacific! Just imagine…
How long is the main campaign ? Thank you.
I’ve played 2-4 and loved each. 4 really felt a lot like a Hitman game and this one looks like more of that, which is great. I’ll definitely be checking this out on GamePass.
Don't play like hitman or looks like it
How do you not yet have over a million subs? You're an absolute G.
You’re honestly the best video game reviewer around currently.
Played Sniper Elite 4 and was quite surprised how enjoyable it was. Expect this one to be as good if not better..
Bloody love your reviews, thanks for the time you take to cover all bases.
Love the subscribe shout out to Big Delrith! Keep up the amazing work ACG, you are the best in the business.
Always a pleasure to watch your game reviews. I like the new presentation of how you introduce the topics such as presentation, audio, etc on the screen very nice touch.
Great review and I really like your conversational tone while really emphasizing what you enjoy about the game.
It's also a day one release on gamepass, which I'm surprised you didn't mention since that's probably the best way to play this game.
Definitely trying this out on Game Pass
Can't wait to pick this game up. Been a fan of the series since V2 and they just get better with each entry.
I really like the new transition effects between each segment of the review.
June 2024: I patiently waited a couple of years, and just picked up the complete edition for $55, which is about what I feel the game should have been on launch plus with all that included. Patience pays off, eventually I’m sure this will be $20 but I’m more than happy with this as a long time fan of Sniper Elite 4.
dude, im the living version of Karl, in the flesh good review
Love your reviews man. I go to Angry Joe for the fun, but you for the facts.
Speaking of AJ, nice to hear you rep Delrith. He's good people and deserves all the praise he gets.
Angry Joe doesnt know what does it mean to do a review, always looking for a hole in everything, i think he is bored with what is he doing, bored with industry, he needs to get a regular job
Awesome, I’m glad this game was rated well! This will be my first Sniper Elite game
Oh man Centaur, your sweet sweet detailed and calming demeanor is gonna whisk me away for these 20 minutes, and for that time I'll be worry free.
Best reviews on TH-cam as always! Thank you Karak!
I don't pre order games, but can't say no to sniper as the last 2 in the series have been so much fun. Can't wait to get in and play it soon.
man, thanks for talking about easy anti cheat, i played 3 games now that are using it and unfortunately i see it as the preferred option on new releases (?)
and i really dont understand how it passed any kind of testing... the only explanation in my mind is that they were upfront and pitched it like "well, the game will take around 5 to infinite more minutes to load, but we can guarantee 10% less cheaters/illegal copies in game" "sounds perfect, take our money and implement it!"
Hey ACG great review! As a gamer looking for a splinter cell style stealth game in the fog of war of rinse and repeat this is just what I needed. Such a great game! Really impressed by this, thanks Rebellion!
And to think that Rebellion once made Rouge Warrior for Bethesda. Bravo, Rebellion!
I think this series is great. I really dont know what more one could ask for from a sniping game that the last few Sniper Elite games.
I wouldnt mind if they started doing a spin off series from different wars in history too.
The last two were pretty good, pretty immersive. This one not so much.
It's always Germans. Why not Italians or Japanese?
Excellent as always- keep doing whatcha do, Karak.
Love that they added gun customization
Didn't even realise this was coming. Enjoyed Sniper Elite 4 but felt it was too short and had too many achievements aimed at multiple playthroughs, will deffo pick this up sometime though...
I hope sniper elite goes from WW2 to a new era like Cold War or Vietnam. It would very cool to see
Always have been a Fan of this Series!
