    Why people in this WOD never do the movements as prescribed?
    1 - Power Clean is not a Squat Clean
    2 - A front Squat + a Push Press is to be performed separatelly, otherwise is a Thruster
    3 - Same thing for back squat + push press
    Most people do the complex of:
    1 Cluster + 1 Thruster behind the neck

      @kyleradford6056 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      OPaixao13 m8 it's for time, plus a thruster is a lot harder so if anything it makes it harder

      @MultiMcgurk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Kyle radford lol thruster is easier as you coming out the whole quicker and not stopping

      A cluster is a rep scheme. You can have cluster back squats cluster benches etc. what’s wrong with CrossFiters

      Totally agree! That wasn't the right way to perform Bear Complex.

    So this is cool? When I was taught the Beat Complex I was taught that the movements must be separate and distinct movements. Power Clean, Front Squat, STO to back, Back Squat, STO to front and down versus, squat clean and thruster to back squat etc . . . I've gone to war in tons of arguments defending my first CF coach. L O L !

    • @wodwell
      @wodwell  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yep, it's cool by CrossFit standards (check my reply to "dean gill" below). And hey if someone wants to pause between each movement, that's cool, too...it's just a different "strict" standard with a different intended stimulus. But the way it's demo'd in this video is the way it's also demo'd in all the videos shown here: wodwell.com/wod/bear-complex/

      Awesome. Thanks for the answer and the references. I'll try it like this one day . . . and D I E !

      In kettlebell sport you have to separate the movements like you are talking about. Clean to Squat to press to overhead squat to press.

    • @wolfprime
      @wolfprime 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wagner27 William Thank you, William. I'll have to look up kettlebell sport.

    Looks like a squat clean then 2 thrusters to me

    • @wodwell
      @wodwell  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, thruster if you're able to. Push press if you prefer, or if you have to. You'll see all three athletes in this video do some push presses at some point, but thruster when they can.

    • @gillygiz
      @gillygiz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +WODwell a power clean is what it says not a squat clean if you go below parallel it's not a power clean, when I did what these guys are doing I got no repped

    • @wodwell
      @wodwell  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      In CrossFit WODs unless stated otherwise you're typically allowed to combine movements like these. So "a power clean, into a front squat, into a push press" can be executed as a "cluster" (squat clean into a thruster). You don't have to stop and pause after your power clean before you go into your front squat, for example. If someone no-reps you for combining movements in Bear Complex then they're not following this same standard. Watch the other Andrea Ager's or Rob Orlando's Bear Complex videos (and even the original CrossFit demo video) on our Bear Complex page, and you'll see they're all using the same standard: wodwell.com/wod/bear-complex/

    I donno man, I can't listen to country when doing CrossFit. Country is good for drinking beer at the lake or grilling steaks with the boys. When I'm doing CrossFit give me some metal or hip-hop, something with a beat and energy.

    • @lymedog3176
      @lymedog3176 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The original “bear”complex was originated as independent movement but done in unison. The cross fit version was slightly watered down to blend in the movements. Yes it is more fluid and u can utilize more weight, but it was meant to be one movement independent from another movement.

    • @wodwell
      @wodwell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The original strict version and the CrossFit version are both valid. The two versions have different intended stimulus.

    They combine the movements which is not correct but I like the way they do this. A Clean to a Thruster and behind the neck thruster. Tee hee. Even if its not the complete 5 distinct movements, I believe it requires more condiitioning than strength to do it this way.

    • @wodwell
      @wodwell  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Aurora Ybarra Exactly this is as much a conditioning workout as it is a strength workout (crossfit style)
