    If you think you know "Fran," you'll barely recognize "Franzilla." The reps go down but the weight goes up, as does the difficulty on the pulling movements. Both athletes (whose Fran times are just over 3 minutes (Carl) and just over 4 minutes (Kara)) felt confident they'd go through the 21 thrusters and pull-ups unbroken, but they both got caught by surprise as the 15 thrusters and chest-to-bars were harder than they expected. The round of 9 was where strategies went out the window and they both just fought hard to finish strong.

    homeboys thrusters were trash. lock out and push your head through. shaved reps on the pull ups, too.

    WTF. This WOD is called "FRANTASY LAND" not "FRANZILLA". Rich Froning and James Hobart already did this. I dont even know what to think..........

      "Franzilla" and "Frantasy Land" are similar but the latter is a LOT more reps. We did not create either WOD. Here they are side by side:

    Her MU would have been far easier if she didn't treat it as a ring MU. That is, she should have kept her hips behind the bar and swung rather than performing a fall back where she pointed her legs in front of the bar just before descending from support.

      +WODwell "Mastering the Bar Muscle Up" shows athletes doing them efficiently in the fashion I described. I think treating each rep almost like a glide kip for her would give her BMU's for days.

      Jorge Naranjo they're doing variations of gymnastics pull ups. There's more than one way to do a pull up. Most CrossFitters agree that strict pull ups are the best way to gain strength for pull ups, but the kipping technique just helps get the work done faster. ✌🏾️

      swinging around and calling it a pullup doesn't make it a pullup

      Going from full elbow extension to chin above the bar makes it a pull up. These are not strict pull ups, clearly.Do you ask Olympic weightlifters:
      "where are the strict presses?" when they jerk?You probably don't, because you recognize two different ways of getting weight from ground to overhead.

      if there is no pulling there can not be a pull up. these CrossShit guys use momento and swinging to get above the bar. they dont pull. change the name to swing ups

      Jorge Naranjo dude, people that do CrossFit are trying to better their lives the same as you in whatever gym you go to. Why go out of your way to complain about it? There's more than one way to get most jobs done.
