    Finally, somebody compared physical dimensions and visually compared ultrawide and dual monitors rather just talk same thing over like 1000s of other copy-paste videos!

    Thank you for this video!!! I use 2 monitors for work and I was thinking of going Ultrawide. Most reviews online do not cover the productivity portion which is what I am looking for. I like you showed that I can split the screen which is what I need for work I can have emails on one side. The document I am working on in the middle and the referring sources on the left ! SOLD!

    • @67steinip

      Im in the same boat right now!, have you already pulled the trigger on the Utlrawide, and if so what Ultrawide did you end up buying, the 57 inch G9 came out and there is a Neo G9 and Oled G9 is probably coming in 2024.. I am thinking more or less for productivity, the game is just a bonus I barely play games, but damn it would be good to be able to split it in 3 parts, keep the center for 16:9 and the 2 on the sides.. and probably end up adding one of my 32 monitors on the very end as "tv"

    Very helpful video, i was planning to get dual monitors from the get go, so i already had a bit of an opinion.
    Expenses aside, i think i will still go with the dual monitors.
    For the sake of 3 or 4 games and CAD which i would never really use, it just seems unnecessary.
    What i liked about the video is you leaned into the ultrawide yourself and gave an honest opinion.

    I've already worked with 2x24" monitors and one curve 34" display. I missed the first one when I started to work with the ultrawide 34". That's not just "more space," but it's easier to organize your desktop and focus on one specific task. For one monitor, I display my e-mails and Teams, and for the second one, the spreadsheets and drawings I had to certify. My plan for the future is to buy 2x27 ultrasharp monitors.

  • @holski77

    If you are really trying to compare the monitors, you have to compare how people are going to use them. No one games with dual monitors with a split bar down the middle. You game on one monitor only and use the other for different things, like twitch chat, videos, or instructional content. That's how 99% of people use their screens. So it might be better to compare using the screens that way, or at least add that to a comparison. Because dual monitors, will be better for multitasking, and the ultra wide is much worse at multitasking and takes more energy to set up. When you just use all your display for gaming the ultra-wide is better, but if you are gaming and multitasking b/c you are streaming, the dual displays would be better IMHO. And if you are being fair, and you equalize the budgets, you could afford two 4k 60hz monitors, which would have 3x the pixels than the ultra-wide, and be great for productivity, and some non-pro gaming, or slower paced games.

    • @ReviewsForLifeYT
      @ReviewsForLifeYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You bring up a good point about gaming + streaming, and in that case, you're probably right about dual monitors being better.
      You're right about the 2x4k monitors costing the same- but the hidden cost here is that you'll also need a suitable graphics card. I'm not disagreeing with you or anything, just saying there's a tradeoff

    • @minutenreis
      @minutenreis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As an advocat of ultrawide monitors personally:
      I have greatly better multitasking while working (software development) with an ultrawide(2580 x 1080) than two HD Monitors (1920 x 1080); this is mostly due to how some applications can handle the image. F.E. VS Code can take full advantage of the ultrawide, while it is really difficult with two seperate monitors. Which is great for comparing code. Also I personally like windows split function for windows more for split screen work (windows + arrows) than actual dual monitors.
      though to be fair, at my main home setup I just use a mix of everything:
      1 3440 x 1440 Main Monitor => Gaming or Movies / Main Productivity Stuff
      1 1920 x 1080 Secondary Monitor => Video Consumption while gaming, etc.
      2 1280 x 1024 Tertiary Monitors => Discord and Whatsapp / other chatting apps (or stream chat for streamers and such)

    • @holski77
      @holski77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@minutenreis hmmm, yes split screen does seem very functional. I think it would be more so if the OS and software all handled that the same, but some programs like games arent meant to be anything but full screen. Lots of professional software as well. So I gave up on sorting through window tiling, and just got two screens, it works for me, and is a good way to get lots of pixels.

    • @holski77
      @holski77 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReviewsForLifeYT you can never increase the resolution past the screen, but you can always turn the game res down, 4k scales nicely to 1080p. And with FSR DLDS and RSR, the screens should age well, even with the same cards. Plus solitare and Age of Empire, startcraft, and WOW look nice

    You are by far the most thorough reviewer I have seen lately. You talk about stuff others never talk, or either just swing by, but you get into it and explain. That's a great quality in this channel.
    My problem is something you have not reviewed yet - should I get a 32" 16:9 or a 34 flat wide panel (Since I dont have any good ips curved ones in my country).
    A safe bet would be the 32" but I really think about missing a flat environment. My only concern, by having a flat wide panel, is ping-pong my head between two windows, and having the farthest away text - far away from me. And making me very annoyed.
    No reviewer have talked about it yet and those who did use it in a programing/two window setup did not talk about it.
    I know you would have, if you tested a flat wide one :) Anyway I am going to buy it very very soon (because of a good discount) so I guess I'll report back soon. Thanks for the hard work bud.

    • @xiaoyu88

      @@zojirushi1 Hey man
      I got a Dell S2721DGF with the intention to buy another one for a dual screen setup, but I needed to leave my apartment and got a job and I did not get the other one since at home I work on my laptop and at work I got two screens and that's fine with me.
      To be honest I did to view a flat wide in person and it was not that bad as I thought for productivity.
      For me, a two screen setup is great and if I had bought the 34" or 32" I'd love to use them. I'd say its a matter of real estate, get whatever you think will fit comfortably in your area. I did not have it because I moved and did not have a permanent place so I took the more flexible way (1 or 2 separate screens)

    If you do a lot of screen sharing through MS teams or slack for work, then realize your coworkers will have a hard time seeing your screen since most will be on a 16:9 monitor.
    You can kinda make it work by sharing only a window and not your desktop, then resizing the window to 16:9, but for a lot of stuff I need to share my entire desktop.
    Outside of that I love my ultrawide, couldn't see myself going back anytime soon.
    21:9 1440p ultrawide + vertical 24" on the side has been the perfect combo for me.
    In games you can still have discord or browser open on full-screen games, and for work I still like a vertical monitor for long pdfs and code

      Since Screensharing is very minimal in my line of work as system administrator, that's not a factor to me but I like the idea of your vertical 24'' I have a 2 x 32'' monitors and one is in portrait mode, I don't really wanna lose that, I love having slack on it and seeing to space what was said, I think I would actually do this Ultrawide, and then put an arm on the end of the table supporting the 32 in portrait.. Just waiting on my 4090 to arrive...

    i prefer 2 monitors but i never have a game on both at the same time. I like being able to buy one gaming focused monitor and one work/content/reading one. finding one single monitor with every feature you might want is way more expensive than 2 27 inch monitors. also if you dont care about the monitors lining up you could even mismatch sizes if you prefer a higher rez 27 inch for work or content but a 24 inch ultra fast refresh rate 1080p gaming monitor for shooters if thats what you are into.

    Personally this review was very superficial. As someone who has been using ultrawide for so long: many competitive games actually cut off the top and bottom instead of giving you additional peripheral vision. Otherwise ultrawide users would have an unfair advantage. I made that experience with League of Legends and Rocket League. Yes, it looks amazing and feels like you see more, but actually it’s less

    • @zil7692

    • @minutenreis
      @minutenreis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the only games I remember where this really mattered were Valorant (which cuts of the sides) and Overwatch (which at least to my memory cut off the top and bottom)
      In most other games, even if your method was used, there was a very lenient PoV slider, that normally wasn't maxed out due to zoom issues, fish eye efffect. etc.
      Also LoL of all games, where horizontal screen space may really matter (though it is somewhat brought into reins by the minimap being farther away from the center) just scales your picture horizontally (you can also make nvidia tripple monitor setups, at this point its not practical, but a fun thing to try out if you have them anyways)

    the price difference between the 1080p and 1440p version is pretty minor (compared to what the monitor costs either way). But if your GPU doesn't support the 1440p version/isn't capable of still offering decent fps IMHO the money would better be spend in a new GPU (even tough it's not a good time to do that).
