Honestly ultrawide monitors are awesome for gaming and watching videos but are they that much better than dual monitor setups for productivity purposes? Wlecome to some of my thoughts after testing out my ultrawide vs dual screen for the best productivity setup.

I'm currently got both setup 2*16:9 (landscape and portrait ) for coding/productivity and 21:9 for gaming, yes it's serve different purpose but considering to add one16:9 to the widescreen setup to start the gameplay streaming, so I think my "ideal" set up for the future would be this 1 21:9 in landscape and one 10 inch LCD (like the raspberry pi screen) beneath the main screen so it will not distract and serve as auxiliary screen. it's the same concept like the ASUS notebook.

Have been using a 29" ultrawide for a year or so but I'm getting a 32" "normal" monitor and turning the ultrawide into portrait orientation for my coding workflow. 29" was too small for me, as I still was left lacking for screen real estate while working, also there was not too much media that supported the ultrawide aspect ratio, so I'd prefer to go back for now.

After seeing the comparison, wouldn't the best way to go is just to have an ultra wide and another monitor on top? This way you get the amazing gaming experience while also being able to still full screen videos on top.

As a programmer, having a second screen in portrait mode is a complete game changer. Unfortunately, my wacom cintiq takes up wayyy too much space, so one of those monitors had to go. Once I get a dedicated illustration setup going though, I'm heading right back to the double monitor setup.

I had dual monitors for a long cause I thought more inches mean more room, but something that happening when I switched from dual 24 to a single 38 was I noticed I had a lot more vertical room (I'm a coder so I open my terminal in vscode in the tabs at the bottom), so even though it's less real estate I ended up needed less real-estate.

5:57 That's an easy one. Just use multiple Desktops and toggle between them. I often have at least 2-3 desktops, one dedicated for screen sharing with only the apps / folders that I want to share for daily Scrum, meetings, screen recording for documentation, etc. You can also set zones, and even crop in post-production in the latter case.

I use a drawing tablet for illustration/painting, and wondered why it felt SO unnatural drawing on my ultrawide monitor compared to my normal monitor at work, then I finally figured out: Most if not all drawing tablets are made with 16:9 aspect ratio in mind... Ultrawides are at least 21:9!
Due to the mapping distortions, horizontal strokes will translate slower than vertical strokes i.e. Circles I draw on my Wacom Intuos become ovals on the ultrawide... This shit bothered me so much after I noticed, that I straight up went back to my 24" lmao. Definitely something to consider if you plan on doing any digital art at all.

    • @Xargantuan
      @Xargantuan 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

You can adjust the active area of the Wacom in your settings to reflect the 21:9 aspect ratio. But you do end up with a smaller active area but it should solve your problem. I usually set mine to a bit smaller than full size since the edges of Wacoms usually have issues activating the system popup menu.

Great video man! I’m aspiring to turn my digital artist/content creator hobby into full time after I graduate University so I definitely think i’m going to do a dual 27” setup rather than upgrading to an ultrawide because I do have to record my design process for youtube and splitting the screens on an ultra wide to get the right aspect ratio for my videos and then having the second monitor out of the screen recording software to use for my art references will be great!
Question tho, do you think having 2 monitors stacked hurts your neck from looking up all the time? or would you recommend to have the T layout

Dual on the utility PC. Left Monitor is split tiles for ADSB Exchange and Real Time Lighting Map. Right is for videos, word processing, watching videos.
Triple on the workstation. Right is for the SDR radio spectrum display single window full screen, center is for digital communications, basically two windows with access to some desktop icons and left is for control functions, three windows.
Need to upgrade to sit/stand desks.

06:50 you can maximize full screen on windowed screen.
Chrome.. More tools -> Create shortcut (and check 'open as window')
    Or just use extension "Windowed"

I started with a a dual 24" 1080p x 1920 set-up but it was a bit too bulky for my snug home-office space and a hassle if I had to move my desk to another room or area of the house. I 'graduated' to a 34" ultra wide 1440p x 3440. The ultrawide set-up is amazing. Sleek, portably convenient and plenty of multiple-window space for my work. The picture detail and font clarity of 1440p is superior to 1080p. I'll probably never go back to dual monitors.

    I went dual 27in 4K at 100% scaling.
The screen real estate is unmatched, I need a lot of apps open at once… which is where having windows snap across 2 screens effectively 8 zones works perfectly.

i’ve been using triple 27inch 1080p monitors and a 24inch 1080p above the middle for about a year now - and i’m thinking about switching the middle one out for a 34inch ultra wide and making the two 27’s vertically on the ends with the 4th above the ultra wide. not sure though

@@alievaslan you guys have the right idea. I'm currently using a 2x 27 inch 2k, but my next monitor purchase will be a 32/34 inch ultrawide 2k (probably curved) and the 27 inches on either side of it. I would not put them vertically.

I have a old ASUS monitor (of some kind), and just ordered a new ASUS TUF VG27AQ. The old one is only 1080p at 60hz, so I'll use it for wikis, discord, music while gaming, and make the tiny bit of video editing I do easier. Turn the old one vertical and keep the new one horizontal because desk space matters, lol.
I'm working on a new PC build and went ahead and got the GPU in case the prices jump, got the monitor, and plan on getting all the peripherals first, because razers software has been slowing my pc down forever, and I want/need to switch to another company with simpler software.

I’m looking to get into a Laptop setup for school/gaming since I am beginning to travel more and the PC I built in 2015 is on its last leg. I mainly game on my PS5 so I want a dual monitor setup so that I can have the PS5 playing on one monitor and be able to the other monitor for my laptop. Is there a way that I can have it setup so that I don’t have to mess with the buttons to change the input every time I want to switch to the PS5? For reference the laptop I’m buying is the Legion pro 7i

I've tried it, and I just can't deal with that center bezel. For gaming, I use a 32" 4K or a 34" 3440x1440 centered on my desk. Either way, I like having an outboard 2560x1080 display in portrait mode, to the left usually, for browsing the answers to whatever questions crop up. In my study, I use a 43" 4K TV split roughly 60/40 vertically.
