I've been super angry, lonely and sad... (getting better over time of course :D ) I just want to say so much of your content is amazing but more importantly so much of who you are and how you express yourself has really made me happy but more importantly been a fantastic role model on how to counter act some of my more negatively intense character traits. You are so sure of yourself with child like glee. You have changed who I am enough that in the slightest ways you will be partly response for some of the great things I will do in this world. Thank you and I wish decades of health,wealth and happiness to you and your loved ones. You have a beautiful soul.
One thing I am trying to do in standard and would work great here is adventure creatures. You can have them work kind of double duty and even get into loops with the commander front side
If you plan to include several MDFCs, consider also using bounce lands, so you can use the front side mid-late game when you no longer need lots of mana
Really interesting decktech as usual DJ! Really enjoy your take on Extus, even tho I'm not a big fan of the amount of Legendaries in this deck considering Extus ruling specifying nonlegendary creatures...otherwise, really sweet gameplan !
Been playing this guy all week! Totally fun take on Aristocrats and I’m finding a lot of different plays with it. If you snowball early and can cast Avatar 2 or 3 times with a sac engine you’re in for a quick game. If you need to slow play Extus is great for recurring things like Sun/Grave Titan which can add a lot of value quick.
I'm gonna go with creatures that make tokens and spells that return creatures from my graveyard to my hand. Those intermingle with Extus's trigger, and Awaken the Blood Avatar. With enough spells and abilities that return a creature from your graveyard to your hand, you can taxlessly cast Awaken. I build far too many Aristocrat strategies, so I'm avoiding that altogether. The pieces in Orzhov you mentioned are spread across my Tayam, Luminous Enigma value-to-combo deck, my Quintorius token spammer, and my aggro-aristocrat Felisa deck. So I'll be trying to steer away from aristocrats. It's always fun to try something different, especially when you just play mid power in general.
to add to this deck tech, I think a really cool and good card to add would be Incarnation Technique from the C21 set. It fills your graveyard, it allows you to put creatures back onto the battlefield and using the Demonstrate ability while Extus is out will give you 3 triggers of magecraft (I think) cause you cast it and copy it twice, once for yourself and once for an opponent. So in total that would be 5 mana to return 5 creatures from your graveyard while also adding to your options by filling it first. Sounds awesome to me
I am currently building extus with buyback cards and there is a artifact that lower byback cost by 2 and other cost reduction with many token makers so i can bounce or kill extus to go for the spell side

I wanna try skull storm, normally that's the worst commander storm card but maybe if you cast your commander 4 or 5 times and you keep your opponents' boards clear it might be worth it
Kinda want to build this as a "get infinite mana as fast as you can" deck and cast Awaken the Blood Avatar a million times and win with a single attack

Why not just put in Animate Dead and Worldgorger Dragon combo as your wincon so you can use the infinite mana to cast the Awaken side over and over and get infinite tokens?
Dear TH-cam, Why did you wait until AFTER I struggled all week to trim my Extus deck to tell me DJ had already made a video?! AUGH!!! Fun ideas in here, DJ. I'm curious why you didn't include Pitiless Plunderer in the video?
I just can't abide aristocrats decks that aren't overflowing with tokens. Trying to drain out the table by saccing non-token permanents seems borderline impossible. Also, you've got recursion in the command zone, you can make your 99 recursion package much more slim and much more CMC-efficient.
Honestly I’m surprised you didn’t mention adventure cards being that they are both sorceries and creatures. Adventure cost bring back an adventure card from the graveyard to the hand, play the 1 cmc creature. Sac it for mana, play the adventure card revive the original adventure creature.. just loops. If you add anything that produces mana with ashmon’s alter you just kinda go unlimited etb triggers and crazy effects. Let’s not forget dockside, low cmc sac to ashmons then play a sorcery to revive it. Loooop! Netting more mana on average. So just unlimited mana. With unlimited mana you can enjoy those sweet x spells for putting d creatures on the battlefield, with a blood artist or even just the backside of this commander playing it x times.. making all the creatures that tap to do dmg? Eh lol The deck seems nutty.
Besides the commander is so much cool, the sorcery is too weak. All this sacrifice and mana for a 3/6 that deals 3? We have to cast like 10x this sorcery to deal REAL damage to all. Aristocrats seens use all the same formula. There is any different sinergy that can use Extus that is not tokens? Anyway, keep the good work here! =)
@@casteanpreswyn7528 so on turn 4 or 5 your going to have roughly 120+ mana or have 60 creatures to sacrifice to it in that case there are easier ways to win Remember commander tax for 8 casts is 72 mana in tax alone

demonstrate specifies that your opponent (if you chose to copy) copies it. So you get only 2 triggers.

I was thinking about some encore creatures like Impulsive Pilferer would be amazing in here.
You can use MDFC but can also use adventurers, they’ll give you more value bye giving you a mage craft trigger and can cast more creatures
I built mine around spells that make tokens, it's been really fun but I think im going to add more creatures like your build.
Was thinking of making Extus, but I think I'm just gonna put it in Alesha. I can cast the sorcery, and then still reanimate Extus himself

From my tinkering, I think including Chandra, Acolyte of Flame for Blood Avatar spam is absolutely busted. 2 tokens per turn is so busted

Yea it seems to me to be sacrifice 3 to make opponents sacrifice one and put a 3/6 in play other than negan without tokens it's a horrible card
I like this card but payoff doesn’t seem that good. They should of added menace/flying or give 5/5 or 4/4.

With a well built deck, on turn 4 or 5 you can cast it 7 or 8 times, wipe the board, and kill all your opponents.
