I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention Tergrid, God of Fright for this deck. If all your opponents lose a creature to your Awaken, you get 3 more creatures immediately. Regardless, I don’t have the budget to build like this, but it’s a neat idea! I’d be tempted to use repeatable graveyard recursion like oversold cemetery and phyrexian reclamation to get Awaken back from my graveyard, as well as the multi token producers who can fuel it. Thanks for posting!
I don't typically condone Tergrid in any capacity, but I certainly agree that it would be effective. I hadn't thought of oversold cemetery, thanks for the suggestion.
Song of the Worldsoul seems like a nice inclusion. Without an Avatar on the field you can populate some fooder token and with an Avatar on the field casting 'awaking the Blood Avatar' becomes a two for one deal.
Good call - I hadn't looked at the populate mechanic. I swapped out Sorin, Solemn Visitor for Song of the Worldsoul - that Sorin was easily the weakest token generator of all the planeswalkers in the deck. I'd also really like to try Ghired's Belligerence, but it might be too situational.
@@thecommandersbeacon1158 Ghired’s Belligerence is actually a great way to make more tokens. Since it doesn’t care whose creatures are being destroyed, you can use it on your own token fodder to proliferate Blood Avatar tokens.
I have tested the deck a few times (without the mana vault xD) , and I loved it SO MUCH. I will try to feet in "Monologue Tax", and maybe "Dockside extortionist", the deck is mana hungry after all
Your version of the deck is a bit pricey, and focuses a bit less on tokens than I'd like but it is still solid af. That being said, thank you for showing me Double Vision. The card slipped my memory completely. Even if I copy one of my token generating spells, I still get the fodder necessary to cast the Sorcery Side of the commander! Brilliant!
I've play tested your deck a bit and to me personally it feels too slow, especially since your main source of tokens are expensive planeswalkers. Most of the time Im finding that I cant get a single token out until turn 5-7 and really with Awaken the Blood Avatar you want to be casting it as early as possible
Thanks for the feedback - My vision for this deck is to use Awaken the Blood Avatar as a finisher by casting it many times over a couple of turns to overwhelm my opponents. I'm just not sure that casting it once or twice, even if you can do it early in the game, has enough impact. That said, if you've got other win conditions and Awaken the Blood Avatar is just another piece of the puzzle, I think casting it quickly makes more sense. Of course, ideally we could cast it both early and often, but I'm not sure if that's feasible most of the time.
@@thecommandersbeacon1158 i have a deck with blood avatar and you 100% wanna cast it early specially if people cast their commanders early. Many games i get it off turn 3 and make everyone sac their commanders
@@thecommandersbeacon1158 If the goal is to (almost) exclusively build around Awaken the Blood Avatar - which is certainly a cool strategy that works very well in Mardu colors - I would honestly lean heavily into ultra-cheap/-efficient token making instants and sorceries, backed up by Young Pyromancer and Monastery Mentor. You can still lean into the aristocrats route that way and get a couple of important creatures - like the aforementioned ones - back by casting and using Extus' trigger once or twice before going for the throat with Awaken, but I would mostly use cards like Lingering Souls, Raise the Alarm, Call the Coppercoats, Secure the Wastes etc.
Cool suggestion, I hadn't thought of that one. I am a bit concerned that Commander's Insignia is a bit dead unless we're already generating tokens and casting Awaken the Blood Avatar repeatedly. But then again, it could definitely be a win condition too, so it could be worth it.
@@thecommandersbeacon1158 tbh if u cant cast the spell at least twice before turn 5 then you arent doing it right. You should be casting it either every other turn using the alt turns to set up. plus u forgot world gorger dragon and animate dead for infinite mana. once that hits infinite cast your commander and boom dead players. depends if u are willing to pay the $14 for gorger
Hey buddy u REALLY need jirina kudro in the deck. Cast your commander twice? Get 2 humans. Already pays for itself. If u have anointed or lithoform double it. Also u might want the leonin that generates 2 life link cats when it swings also the vehicle that creates angels. U can tap the creatures you will sacrifice to crew it then cast avatar. Swing and generate angels
My only concern is that a lot of the token generation in Ruthless Regment comes from the commander, Jirina Kudro, which we wouldn't be able to rely on finding if Extus is in the command zone instead. That said, there are definitely some valuable cards in the deck, like Call the Coppercoats or Increasing Devotion. Ruthless Regiment is fairly aggressive and combat-focused, while my deck is kind of singularly-focused on casting Awaken the Blood Avatar as many times as possible at the exclusion of almost anything else.
All you really gotta do is get infinite mana and just cast ur commander infinite times and boom kill everyone at the table lol u can blink ur dockside 🤷🏽♂️

tergrid is too high cost for it to be worth it. i play tested it and actually took her out 3 days ago. test it yourself

Do we not want commanders insignia? It gets stupid fast

Is Ruthless regiment deck from Ikoria a good base for this commander?

Please flip the white circle on your channel picture. It doesn't match every other circle's light/shadow pattern. Otherwise, good info and delivery
