surprised this has such little views. You got major balls doing this my dude. This is shoulder dislocation central if you fell on any of these rocks, or worse. Props for taming this thing and riding it like a damn bmx bike through this terrain

Tim Graves it probably doesn't have a lot of views because I didn't edit it or add any cool music. LOL. Just some real life riding. Thank you for your comment though and yes it was definitely some rough terrain for the old thumper! not to mention, I'm a flatlander living out here in Pennsylvania so I'm not used to the rough conditions out west. I absolutely love it though and usually go out at least once a year

Gotta admit I'm a bit jelly. I've been drooling over a gorgeous xl600R on craigslist for a week now, kills my soul to be broke during these summer months!

yeah they really are a great bike. I picked this one up about 12 years ago for $300 as a basket case. Then picked another one up for $200 and built one good bike out of the both. I rebuilt the engine at the same time as well. And it has been a wonderful bike to me. I have owned over 100 motorcycles in this is the one that I will never let go. the XR650L is a really great bike as well. Basically the same thing but with better suspension. I have since installed suspension and disc brakes from an XR650L onto mine.

the only thing I hate about the XR650L is the lack of a Kickstart

This is a really cool video man, that looked like a lot of fun. I picked up an 86 XL600R a couple years ago, it's actually my first and only bike. I haven't gotten it on the road yet though, I need to save up for some gear. I saw you said you replaced the stock suspension and disc brakes with that of an XR650L; what other improvements did you put into the bike?

Wow. I spent my teenage years in Arizona riding similar terrain. Forgot how great the wide open is compared to the eastern woods. Good for you!

Yeah man, the riding out there is unbelievable for sure! I didn't make it out there until my late twenties. I try to get out west at least once a year
