I was diagnosed with psoriasis as a teen and later developed psoriatic arthritis. I also suffer with chronic daily headaches...lots of chronic pain issues. I went on clean keto a few years ago. I cut out all sugar and high carb food and most processed food. I have to say, I did feel better but ultimately, it was not sustainable long term because I like things like sweet potatoes and fruit. However, I did learn a lot about what is in our food and my taste buds changed to where I no longer like things like Little Debbie cakes or Hostess cakes (super processed foods). Now, if there is a homemade cake around, watch out. I did subscribe to diet culture for many, many years and it has been a struggle for me to not restrict when I see the scale go up. I think I am finally at a point in my life where I am trying to not demonize foods but also be aware of what I am eating and the impact it may have on how I feel. I do wish that our government had better laws regarding what actually goes into our food. I'd love to see corn syrup and sugar in EVERYTHING be a thing of the past. It's amazing that so many people go to Europe and eat things like gluten or have wine that have been triggers when consumed in the US but feel fine because Europe has higher standards for their food. Anyway, I apologize for the super long comment. I certainly do hope that you are able to get your autoimmune issues under control and I do agree that what food we eat can impact how we feel.
I was shocked when I visited America seeing all the processed food. Here in Australia we are not far behind. I only shop in the outter grocery isles (whole food ones)❤😊
i've been on a long journey to cutting out hpf/upf. i used to be absolutely obsessed with cakes and desserts, and i thought i really truly loved them, but i've found i actually like fruit more, because it has more flavor than just "sweet", and that some things are just so overly sweet it tastes gross. and same with salty foods. it's less like the idea you remember of popcorn in a movie theater and more reminiscent of salt water. and oily food just sits in my tummy wrong
Yes! "Processed food is horrible" for us. 90% of what is sold at the grocery store is awful stuff. We've long been poisoned by the food industrial complex. If one just eats real food instead of processed garbage, that would be a huge improvement right there. But yes, some 'whole foods' can also be trouble makers. Still, if one can only take ONE step for their health - to stay away from fake food - would be a great start. Oxalates are something to look out for too. Check out Sally K. Norton's work. (She's not anti-dairy, but she is anti-spinach!) Opt for kale, lettuces, bok choy, collards, instead. In any case, we all need to find our way beyond the muck of mainstream grocery offerings. Wishing you continued health & happiness...best wishes!
I have osteoarthritis all through my body, and had so much joint pain you would think I was in my 90's (I'm in my 50's). I've completely cut out all processed foods, flour and all sugar except very dark chocolate. I'm already feeling better. I haven't gone as far as eliminating dairy, coffee and night shades. I suppose I should see if that would make me feel even better. I do love plain, full fat greek yogurt for breakfast, so that will be a challenge. I also eat tomatoes and bell peppers almost daily. I don't drink alcohol and have to stick with decaf, so it's only 1 cup
Doctors should be REQUIRED to take nutritional courses as part of their studies before graduating and can be given and before licensing. No matter the kind of medical and healthcare field they work in. Because the things we eat affects everything in our bodies one way or another.

I can relate 100%. I'm going to try this
You got this!
I loved tab.. . remember when they added calcium to it. I drank so much cola in my youth that i killed my taste for it.
But doctors don’t know much about nutrition
