Amazing bit of kit ! Thats what I call out side the box thinking! Nice touch having the canteliver springs on the suspension to always allow flex ! more videos please !!
Hydrostatic 4x4s are banned in competition, however, this isn't a hydrostat. Even though it's got hydraulics up the ying yang, its still a conventionally driven vehicle. You could compete in professional events like W.E.ROC and take home a trophy easily. This machine is awesome, I've never seen such ingenuity. Hats off man, you've created and amazing monster.
i think it is an awesome approach to the future of offroad....i have thought of this suspension concept before, and he pulled it off great! it doesnt make it easier and less interesting, it gives you a bigger platform to leap off of!
Wow, nasa needs someone to build some rovers, i think you need to join there team. Awesome, im truly impressed at how you can have one tire 6 feet over the other, have full contact to ground and a even frame. Awesome concept.
Absolutely insane!! I used to build, install, and rebuild industrial hydraulic systems. The system on this is intense. I'd love to look at it up close.
I thought it would be stupid too, but that turned out to be very creative and bad ass. Smart fella that designed it. I'd like to see into the drive system.
@cbremer83 I learned to drive off road back in 76..and currently own an off road shop..sorry about the confusion but I witnesse so many great ideas and cars ruined in their second model by focus groups that kept asking for trucks to be carlike or cars to be trucklike..and still thanks for shaking me out of my utter ignorance with your so rich and wisdomful comment...walker evans and shannon campbell combined with ken block are nothing compared to your limitless fountain of knowledge and skill
awesome guiness idea of course if its the first prototype of course theres always some kinks to work out but its an extremely good start :) keep up the good work guys
Congratulations. Your design and its performance is awesome. I bet it will sell, especially if you can make a simple street version for sports enthusiast. Make more videos, we really enjoyed the ride through the rediculous terrain...
I have filmed a lot of crazy rigs before and I have to say, that this is one of the most insane crawlers I've ever seen. Great engineering! I hope you bring that to Moab this year for the Easter Safari. I would love to come film it in action!
@cbremer83 And in that you are correct...still does it not look like a very interesting contraption??...what keeps me scratching my head is how he dampens those loooong levers effectively???
@sorinrockeru the front and rear wheels on each side turn together, equal RPM's always (they are geared together) the left and right side of the vehicle are on opposite sides of an ARB air locker, so they can either work independently (with the aid of cutter brakes) or they can be locked so all 4 wheels turn together at a fixed rpm.
@porkpig350 It is very cool. I complimented them on some very good engineering earlier. As far as dampening goes, I'm not sure there is much. Looks like the hydrolics do it all. Passive dampening looks to be through the soft tires only. I could be wrong though.
@orion0283 Yes, there are 4 levers to the right of the drivers seat. also the hydraulics can be "tied" together if you want to move 2 arms together with one control. (tilt etc)
It's moon rover meets rock crawler meets monster truck meets WTF!... Great concept. Keep improving on it.... we'll be reading about you in Forbes in no time.
@AKaotic, the same way the Warthog on halo is. right angle gear drive. Output shafts to the center of the body, then there is a gearbox which converts that output to a drive shaft down the "arm" to the wheel where another gearbox converts its output to the wheel.
Whoever made this, incredible engineering.
his name is Cam
the time and dedication, not to mention money that this guy poured into this machine...wow. glad to see him enjoying the fruits of his labour.
"How's that for articulation?" What a machine!
I watch this a few times a year and it always impresses me
Now thats a fully independent suspension
Holy **** i need one! This is beautiful, what a nice vehicle! Lovely! Damn i need one
Im watching this 13 years later wow impressive
Holy genius, batman! Dudes, you win. Totally in awe. Gotta go build one of these...
The best thing about this build is the ice-chest placement.
Still the OG and best .this build has been inspiring and leading so many builds .
It looks like the car is specially designed for driving on russian roads.
Сергей Кузнецов it started life as a lada
That thing was made for running from Tie fighters thru a narrow pass
This IS REAL independent suspension - I have never seen that before , respect for person who build this
Better be reliable. You'd be totally screwed if you break down out back unless you have a buddy with a Sikorsky S64.
It’s not like it’s gonna be gone when you get back
Amazing bit of kit ! Thats what I call out side the box thinking! Nice touch having the canteliver springs on the suspension to always allow flex ! more videos please !!
i think the warthog from halo must use chainlink - have a look
That is freakin' badass. The articulation is stupid insane! Kudos to whomever engineered that one.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!
used to live down the street from this dude, and went to school with his son. hes so cool (and nice)
It's too easy with that thing, it's no fun without a challenge
niktamair c nulleu
lol #SaucisseDePorc
amazing, ive seen so many radical builds but this is light years past any four link long arm you can think of. awesome innovation guys. AAA+++
What you meant to say was "Damn" that's the most capable trail rig I've ever seen in my life.. Holy shit man great job!!!!!
that's nuts! from one fabricator to another "good job sir I am impressed"
I'm pretty amazed at the engineering gone into this, hugely impressive vehicle.
Somebody freaking give this guy an award! Kick-ass!
It is brilliant--well done. Backyard engineering at its finest!
i think it is an awesome approach to the future of offroad....i have thought of this suspension concept before, and he pulled it off great! it doesnt make it easier and less interesting, it gives you a bigger platform to leap off of!
One of the best engineered machines ever!!
Are you serious!!!! That is unbelievable! Incredible work. So much for four link suspension I need what your having!
Amazing!! Truly original design, my hat's off to you!!
Thanks for sharing your creativity with the rest of us.
Wow, nasa needs someone to build some rovers, i think you need to join there team.
Awesome, im truly impressed at how you can have one tire 6 feet over the other, have full contact to ground and a even frame. Awesome concept.
wow this is by far the best atv i have ever seen its insane to be honest now i want to build one lol
that is probably one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
Your truck is off the scale - love it.
Интересный видос. Есть куда стремиться. Мы в августе взошли на Эльбрус. А товарищей наших с вертушкой эвакуировали. Это был полный *****))
This is an engineering masterpiece!!
That's some damn fine engineering and fabrication.
I love that you get 7 feet of articulation, but it still crashes off the trailer! too funny...and amazing rig!
Yo its sick we only do such vehicles in my lab with no humans in it
I cant imagine the hours in this build. Wow well done..
Is this the thing I remember seeing on tv like 10 years ago? I've been trying to find videos and this is the first one!
The engineering is f'n amazing! I think the suspension works like 2 crotch rockets built beside each other
I see a lot of sick rigs, but this has got to be the sickest!
That is just ridiculous! A++ for originality!
i would really love to see some build videos of the suspension and how the tires spend on there own.
holy hell, that was impressive!!!
thinking outside the box there guys! very nice
his is exactly what I have had floating in my head for a decade! Except my idea has hydro-statically powered wheels too.
awesome guiness idea of course if its the first prototype of course theres always some kinks to work out but its an extremely good start :) keep up the good work guys
@Sonicku There is a U joint between the wheel spindle and the chain sprocket at the end of the front arms.
If one was to put a set of trax on it, That could get to mast areas where only the chosen few could get at. Really crafty engineering, hat's off.
I usually don't respond to videos, but damn, I am super impressed. Now thats being different! BIG kuddos for you!!!
Does it still exist, I'd love to see more videos of it in action, maybe even some build videos.
Absolutely amazing! have never seen something like that in my life.
Congratulations. Your design and its performance is awesome. I bet it will sell, especially if you can make a simple street version for sports enthusiast. Make more videos, we really enjoyed the ride through the rediculous terrain...
I want one !!!
thats one of the best 4Xs EVER
That makes the list of one of the craziest driving rigs I've seen
Now this is a 4x4 that can go just about anywhere!!!
That's totally amazing you should think of making a Contract with the Army.
EPIC! I love the dude in the driver seat "hows that for articulation?" lol
Transformers - SICK!!! Love the truck/machine!!!
thats awesome, u've revolutionised off-roading!
He's definitely wining the RTI ramp challenge!
awesome suspension, the best offroad ever
I have filmed a lot of crazy rigs before and I have to say, that this is one of the most insane crawlers I've ever seen. Great engineering! I hope you bring that to Moab this year for the Easter Safari. I would love to come film it in action!
...and the cab stays level so you won't spill your drink!
Awesome! Build another one!
The baddest 4x4 on the planet!!
this rig blows my mind. amazing. show us a video on rocks.
This thing is amazing!! If I hadnt of seen it, I wouldnt have believed it.
dude... its a tractor...crawler....jeep....truck.... thing. but seriously, really nice dude. love it!
That right there my friends. Should win Engineer of the year (s)
@nvks Actually, its quite durable. the chains are huge and the gear reduction at the hubs takes most of the load off of them too.
OMG its a UDO Unidentified Driving Object! Man does not have that technology!
P.S. awsome rig awsome vid...
I want one
@cbremer83 And in that you are correct...still does it not look like a very interesting contraption??...what keeps me scratching my head is how he dampens those loooong levers effectively???
I like the fact the springs are for suspension not articulation so it keeps good ground pressure on each wheel
Absolutely awesome man, crazy design. Looks and sounds fun as all hell. Kudos
@sorinrockeru the front and rear wheels on each side turn together, equal RPM's always (they are geared together) the left and right side of the vehicle are on opposite sides of an ARB air locker, so they can either work independently (with the aid of cutter brakes) or they can be locked so all 4 wheels turn together at a fixed rpm.

that is INSANE engineering!
@cbremer83 There are locking hubs in the front (they are mounted on the inside of the wheel, hubs facing inward)
Hell ya! Thats what I needed when I rolled my truck! Check out the aftermath of my truck and the amazingly quick way I removed the cab!
that whole chassi and suspension design is fucking amazing nice work 5*
Incredible.Sound is also nice.Something like a Transformers.
@orion0283 Yes, there are 4 levers to the right of the drivers seat. also the hydraulics can be "tied" together if you want to move 2 arms together with one control. (tilt etc)
It's moon rover meets rock crawler meets monster truck meets WTF!... Great concept. Keep improving on it.... we'll be reading about you in Forbes in no time.
wow...that has to be the best rig i have seen on youtube....keep it up...:)
4475 thumbs up & 162 thumbs down? wtf would you give this a thumbs down!?
Awesome video,thanks! Amazing stuff!
THE BEST 4X4 VID IN A WHILE BAD ASS!!!
Why did it take everyone so long to think of somethin like this! Sure beats 4 link
ESTE ES EL MEJOR DE LOS 4 X4 QUE HE VISTO ..... EXELENTE SISTEMA HIDRAULICO QUE USA PARA LOS QUIEBRES DE TAL MACNITUD
Thats one of the coolest things I've ever seen..
AWSOME
very cool! I love getting off road!!
This machine is MAJOR awesome. I want one!!!
@AKaotic, the same way the Warthog on halo is. right angle gear drive. Output shafts to the center of the body, then there is a gearbox which converts that output to a drive shaft down the "arm" to the wheel where another gearbox converts its output to the wheel.
I'm sorry.. this has to be the coolest thing I've seen in at least a week. Very fuckin' cool rig man!
coolest thing i've ever seen. thanks for sharing
Very Cool indeed.. but what if you blow a hose.. or have the hydraulic pump fail? But while its working.. its impressive
Several bubble levels mounted to console in different directions seems to be essential.
