Just made this and it’s off the freaking chain. Soooo good. We don’t have cuisine like this in Australia so this is my first time eating it. Delicious! Will definitely be keeping this one handy for my meal planning! ❤
I'm forever looking for new ways to eat beans and rice! I know this is an old vid, but we are doing no shop January with the exception of fruit. I'm shooting for $10 per week for me and my hubby. yikes!
Very nice, I love your videos and family. Tell your hubby that rice and beans are not on the dominican flag, the dish is called la bandera dominicana because the colors of the main ingredients resemble those of the flag, and because of what it represents to the culture as a traditional dominican dish. The meat is usually chicken or sauteed steak with onions and peppers ( bistec encebollado) or beef stew ( bistec guisado). The usual sides are avocado, tostones or fritos maduros and salad 😋.
I buy whole milk and then just add half milk half water or a little more water then milk to anything I make or even cereal or drinks for my kids. Basically 2 for the price of 1, whole milk is usually the same price as less percent milk where I have always lived
Was that regular oregano or mexican oregano? Also, I used to live in Star Valley, Wyoming. SUPER close to where you are. Not that I'm stalking you...that sounded creepy...I'm just familiar with that area of Idaho.
I'm assuming that's a different dish than this one? Dave assures me that they use pinto beans for the traditional D.R. dish. He lived in Santo Domingo if that makes a difference.
***** yeah, the rice is no problem lol it's the beans. I made great northern and texture is great but flavor is mediocre...not unflavored but can really taste yellow pepper and Italian seasoning from the ham broth PS:: rice is either breakfast rice and eggs or fried rice or used up in beef burritos
What did your husband do in dr for 2 years?? I live in miami. Everyone is from latin America. They eat rice and beans 3 meals a day! Try it with mojo sauce .it is amazing

Cook the beans with bacon and sausage in the instant pot. And season as you like. We in Brasil only put salt, pepper, onion and garlic. Eat with rice.
Oh my goodness! Tyler and Ryan were so tiny!!!!

do you have a preference for canned or dried beans?
It's all the same to me! Dried are cheaper, but canned are more convenient.
