That's because people have no clue what a serving size is! I was shocked myself to realize how many servings I was eating. We in the US eat way too much! 93lb loss eating healthy foods in proper proportions. Still a long way to go, but I'll get there.

We do a combo of fresh & convenience. My husband does the cooking, so I figure that’s a good trade off. We always have a salad and / or a cooked vegetable with our meal. Our main dish is usually a protein with other ingredients. We have meatloaf, soups, lots of chicken dishes, occasionally a non meat dinner, like homemade Mac & Cheese. When we take a meal to a family member or a friend, the Mac & Cheese is our go to. Great meals Christine!!

      Sarah S
If you saute the onions and some garlic with a little oil, then add the dry curry powder and a bit of chillie flakes when half way done. That will bring much flavor in those spices out, keep stirring for a bit, 2 to 3 minutes on low. If it gets a little brown that is just fine. That is how we do it.
Now add all wet ingredients as usual. Notice how aromatic and tasty it will be.

I made "what we have soup" last night too. Mine was chicken thighs, potatoes, celery, carrots, garlic, onions, spinach, peas and corn. I also had blended some oats into oat flour for muffins earlier and had about 1/4 cup left so I threw that in there to thicken it up a bit. It's kind of a cross between a soup and a stew. I got a dinner, leftovers for lunch, and a big container for the deep freeze out of it.

Sarah Hurley I call it stone soup, after the story by the same name. Sometimes at work after thanksgiving meal, we used to all being a veggie and one lady would take the leftover turkey and make soup with everyone’s veggie offerings. It was always delicious! I made a vegetable soup earlier this week just with beef and whatever veggies I had in the freezer, fridge, and pantry. It made a lot and was tasty. I put the rest in the freezer for next week.

    Chocolate chip cookies tip 💖
Make your dough ahead of time, scoop them onto your sheet, freeze them for like an hour, put the frozen balls in a freezer bag and leave in the freezer for about two days minimum and all the flavors meld together perfectly.
I quadruple my recipes and freeze cookie dough so I can pull out the perfect amount for dessert whether that's 1 or 24! 💖💖

My quickest favorite meal: Left over roasted chicken (chopped/sliced), warmed in a pan/pot, bag of steamable veggies of your choice (or left over veggies) can of Rotel diced tomatoes of your choice and we add olives (kalamata) . It really stretches and you can really play with it. Takes about half hour to come together. I make it frequently with what ever we have left over. I've substituted other protein as well.

I'm always so jealous to see people's freezers packed to the brim with meat and freezer meals ... where I live, they routinely switch off the power for a few hours, sometimes up to 5 days a week twice a day in order to take pressure off the system... that means freezing anything really just increases your chance of getting food poisoning with all the thawing and re-freezing :/

Family favorite is what we call simple rice ... Cook 1 cup of rice in 3 cups broth, 1 cup of mixed veggies (frozen) salt and pepper to taste and add a little red pepper if you like spice. Serve it with 1 chicken breast cut into bits and pieces we serve 3 with 1 chicken breast and 5 with the simple rice. Open face Tuna melts. Make artisan bread or get a discount bread. Cut slices and top with tuna and cheese bake for 15 minutes at 350 serve with soup and salad. Tomato soup 12 oz can of tomato paste and 5 cups water 1 teaspoon each garlic powder, onion powder and salt, 1 tablespoon sour cream and sugar (helps cut acid from tomatoes) makes about 6 or 7 cups serves 4 in big bowls with tuna melts or grilled cheese. Barley soup 2 carrots 2 parsnips 1 onion 3 celery ribs 1 cup barley 1 or 2 bouillon cubes or stock. Add in enough liquid to cook veggies and make a soup about 8 cups. Served 5 easy with leftovers. like in this video, make your own bread! Super easy. Also, growing certain plants can be cheaper than buying in store. Especially if you buy them in store and use the seeds for growing.

Try adding some sweetener to the wheat and give the yeast something to chew on. I made commercial batches of wheat bread that comprised of nothing but stone ground hard red wheat flour for years. I only used five ingredients. You needed the sweetener so the yeast give more loft to the wheat flour. It’s kind of dense so it does need some help. There’s not enough readily available sugars in wheat flour like white flour.

I just meal prepped a months worth of freezer breakfasts for my husband and did chorizo egg muffins with spinach and cheese and they came out so good. I really enjoy your videos and would love to see you do a meal prep video. All my meal prep items were right around $12 and it saves me so much time!

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary online, where one can hear the words pronounced, the word "grocery" can be pronounced either way--'gross-ree,' or 'grosh-ree' (I made it easier to pronounce by reading it than they did). You were right--"tomato/tomahto"--it's one of those words that isn't crucial to pronounce just one way 😃.

Whole wheat doesn't have the gluten levels white flour does. You will get a better rise by adding gluten or using half white flour.
Looking forward to trying some of these recipes

Hello! I've been testing bread recipes for a while now. It's probably not the water or time that's the issue here but more the flour ratio in your whole wheat bread. I'd try to add some white flour to your whole wheat bread otherwise you'll always get really dense bread (60% white bread flour and 40% whole wheat). Great video!

You should grow sage. It's a perennial where I live in zone 5/6 ( I'm right on the line) comes back without fail every year and is a pretty landscape plant with ZERO CARE. FREE SAGE FOR LIFE VERY FRUGAL. BTW......this is one of my favorite recipes of yours. You might want to add vital wheat gluten to your whole wheat loaf it helps with whole wheat 🍞

Have you tried adding a couple of red peppers to your spanish rice? I do 2 peppers, 2 onions, 2 cloves of garlic and then 3 cups rice and 6 cups of veggie broth. Of and one small can of petite diced tomatoes. SOOO good!!! I've made it 3 times this week and I'm putting it on the meal plan for this next week.

Whole wheat flour absorbs more liquid than white, so you may just need to cut back on the flour on the whole wheat bread.
