The more people accept this and buy, the stronger the incentive for Sony (and MS for that matter) to release their future consoles without disc drives. If physical disappear, there'll no longer be competition for Sony to compete with and then Sony will have 100% control and I guarantee the price of your games will then keep increasing on a yearly basis.

I just think this is fundamentally the wrong way to go about fixing the framerate vs. fidelity issue. Developers should be encouraged to optimise their games more instead of just relying on more powerful hardware to brute force it. The reason the PS3 and 360 generation produced so many impressive games over the course of their lifecycle is because developers were forced to adapt to the hardware and get the most out of it.

I think as long as consoles continue to have the ease of use advantage over PCs, they'll stick around. SteamOS is getting there, but there really isn't a PC gaming experience that is as casual and worry free as something like a Nintendo Switch.

i personally find it troubling that there are some people out there that can only play games at 120 fps. 60 isnt enough for them. edit: btw, the PS3 is much more worth it nowadays than the base PS5 and slim and pro. its a blu ray player, it has more games than the PS5 games are on the discs without a download required, it can play PS2, PS1, and PSP games. you dont need to pay for online, and its cheaer. i have the slim because i hate YLOD.
