Everytime I hear that one of the ground rules when sharing a place is "never go into the basement and have no friends over" you know its not that they just need storage space.

People can be really naive at that age (23). I'm almost 40 and occasionally feel pangs of horror of memories of the lack of precautions I took in certain situations in my younger days.

@@PoochieCollins Also seems to strongly correlate with all other ages. And there also seem to be a similar number of intelligent and wise people in all age groups above say 15 years. Yes of course very young people aren't as smart, but past a certain point, a certain point that is still quite young, it all comes down to the individual.
There are wise 19 year olds and childish 50 year olds and the amount of variation is common enough that those are hardly even outliers.
There is a trend, but the trend is a lot weaker than you make it out to be.
Story 1. I would have been out of there as soon as I saw someone had been in my room. Anyone who would go through your personal belongings and lie about can't be trusted.

I mean if someone you're living with is acting creepy especially in certain places, wouldn't you want answers as to why?? He could've been a killer for all we knew.

What I’ve learned from these roommate videos on this channel is that if the attic or basement is off limits you do NOT take the offer and walk. Especially if the person is acting sketchy

The second story with David taking pictures of people sleeping and whispering to himself in odd hours of the night is just downright weird and terrifying. As for the last story, It was lucky that a girl warned the other girl about Rob being a sick twisted stalker and how he had previous records with women.

I once shared a room with a guy for a whole year. He was introverted and didn't share much. So when he was finally leaving for some other location, he came near me and told me "hey I wanna tell you something", I said "sure", He said- "You look really handsome while you are asleep and thanks for letting me use your toothbrush."
Needless to say I never shared a room with anyone after that day and I am still creeped out by him.

Landlords are legally required to provide things like reasonable security, including working and locking doors.
Very true. But, if there is no signed rental agreement, the landlord can say that they were just letting them crash there for a limited period of time. Since they wouldn’t technically be considered a “tenant,” they wouldn’t be able to claim those requirements. It’s a legal grey area, and some places would still pursue charges and some won’t. But, it’s just another great example of why you ALWAYS get some sort of written agreement/contract before renting anywhere, even if you’re moving in with a relative or best friend. You also don’t ever pay your rent in cash. The landlord could easily say they never received it and try to charge you double.
Lol i had a landlord that lied to me abt a door. It was a sliding side door and he said it was broken and couldnt open. One day i tested it (literally more than half a yr after i moved in) and it opened and i tried to lock it and the lock didnt work 🫠 i think bro just didn't wanna have to pay to fix it. He was a cheapskate and wouldnt fix many things. I paid to fix the lock myself for peace of mind

Story #2: Smartest protagonist I've ever heard on this channel. He actually preserved evidence to show the school. Most other people would have left the pictures there and they would have disappeared.

Before I was married, I lived alone in a two bedroom apartment. I never rented anything that wasn’t on a second or third floor, and I always parked my car half a block away due to having dated a few crazy and possessive women at that time. Always made sure to peek out my window when someone showed up unannounced.

What grinds my gears about the roommate stories is the weirdos who look for a roommate when they are hiding something illegal in their house. Like, if you’re a criminal doing bad stuff in your home storing bodies or whatever else, why on earth would you think it’s a good idea to let someone stay in the same place where your crimes are being hidden. You could say like “oh but maybe they kill the roommates and that’s why they invite people” but that’s also dumb because you would be under so much suspicion for someone’s disappearance when the police find out the victim recently moved in there. It could also be a weird stalker fetish thing which is plausible but man they are dumb for inviting people to live in their house of horrors. Never rent a property without a lease. The ones without a lease don't want you to have your rights as a tenant. Most foolish thing I've heard people doing, not to mention if you have to sue you might not have a leg to stand on since you don't have anything in writing (realtor here, not a lawyer, talk to a lawyer if you need legal services)
