*UPDATE* DockATot has updated their safety regulations and no longer recommend using it for co-sleeping. Honestly..... it was amazing for us 🙈 so this is very unfortunate news to not be able to safely recommend this. BUT we easily transitioned him to his crib by 2 or 3 months so whatever sleep situation you choose, please be safe and read the safety guidelines.
Thank you for updating - I was about to find and comment a link to the studies showing the dangers of sleeping in a dockatot. The golden rule is to always follow the ABC’s: (Alone, on their Back, in a Crib/bassinet)
@@thehumanbean3 I thought that was going to be an easy rule to follow until I went three days without sleep because my newborn won't sleep on his back.
Dockatot was actually never sleep safe certified! They’re really nice but have been linked to infant deaths. Edit to say almost all baby “sleep” loungers are NOT sleep safe certified.
Father to Twin newborns here. I love watching your videos, esp watching a fellow black father give out advice. Plus my wife gets a kick out of me watching your vids. THANK YOU
I was watching these videos with being bamboozled constantly, couldn't understand why Royce looks so familiar before I saw some pics on IG with grandpa Sinbad)
I love watching these videos because my baby is now 19 and I kind of think about the fact that I had none of these things available lol… it’s crazy to see how far baby things have come from my days lol I love seeing all the things I can buy for my new mama friends..
I'm almost 32 weeks and watching this brought me so much comfort! I feel like I was just chillin and talking with my new parent friends 😄 I love your energy ❤
Love my Hatch Sound Machine! Looking forward to setting it up for "ok to wake up" time when my little one is older. (It will be programmed to turn green at a certain time which will give her the ok to leave the room and bug her parents 😂)
I'm not a parent, but I can't understand why anyone would ever swaddle manually when there's a velcro option. The only reason I even tie my shoes is because they don't make adult shoes with velcro.
We tried the velcro on my LO, but because her legs could straighten in the velcro, she couldn’t fall asleep. She had to sleep with her legs crossed and the only way for that to happen was through manual swaddling.
Those velcro swaddles are AMAZING. Game changer for real! I buy them for every baby shower I go to. Our baby would break out and wake himself up out of everything else we tried. Plus, it gives you the option of swaddling their chest but not arms which was really nice when we were transitioning out of swaddling.
The 4 moms bassinet is not low it’s actually very tall but you can adjust it to make it shorter if you need it like I do because I’m only 5 foot tall. Also the 4 moms bathtub is amazing 🤩
Just told our parents we’re expecting after going to our first OB appointment yesterday. Loving your videos! You guys seems like such a great couple and so open about things you experienced! It really helps since I don’t have people around me that have been through things.
I just wanted to comment and say neither the snuggle me nor the dock a tot are safe for bed sharing and on the dock a tot website they say that they don't promote bedsharing!
I definitely agree with a lot of these! My daughter had hip dysplasia, so we found the best sleep sack was the Halo Sleep sack. It left space for the harness she had to wear 24/7. I had so many swaddles that I never used because she'd wiggle out of them and it was hard to wrap around the harness. The sacks were definitely a life changer.
It took me 4 kids to buy one I’ve always used the boppy pillow but I’m excited to use the my Brest friend pillow for my baby when they get here in March
The pacifier can be a blessing or a curse. For me it was the later, because, whenever the pacifier fell out while my twins were asleep. They would cry and I would have to wake up to put it back in; for both babies ALL the time. So I just got rid of them eventually. Not the babies, the pacifier. Lol
That's it babies need to go 😂 we had the same issue all though it was still very helpful with him continuing sleep. After he learned to fall asleep without it he slept through out the night!
I looked into a sound machine for our newborn but then we found a calming Playlist on Spotify. We play it every night on our echo dot and our baby falls asleep within 15 minutes. So if you have an extra Bluetooth player you're not using, look into using that instead to save some money. Also we LOVE the velcro swaddle. We can't blanket swaddle to save our lives so that is such a great buy.
I love Velcro swaddles 😂😂😂my child nvr took a pacifier, I never used the sound thing tho couldn’t afford it n burp clothes are a must I was the problem with co sleeping I juss needed to cuddle my bbyonsies with zippers are a life saver
These comments about sleepsharing and people shaming yall are annoying me, im pregnant with my first and just seeing people say that its a hazard to sleep with your baby or be close like that upsets me. I have seen and heard first hand that sometimes thats all that works!! Stop parent shaming, im sure y'all know what youre doing
I have bedshared with both of my kids. There is a safe way to do it and we also forget that back in the day and still in a number of cultures having a family bed where family members of all ages sleep is very common!
I'm choosing not to co sleep but that is because I'm a deep and restless sleeper. I've hit my husband in the head and back among other places when I sleep. People have told me that I won't do that with the baby but I'm not comfortable taking the risk. If other people do it then it doesn't have anything to do with me.
I co slept with my first daughter and we loved it my only problem now is she don’t want to get in her own bed so I highly suggest transitioning your baby early on to their own bed or space!
Anecdotal stories of babies surviving bed-sharing does not erase the substantial evidence that bed-sharing increases the risk of SIDS five-fold. Not to mention the numerous infant positional asphyxia deaths caused by the dock a tot, boppy lounger, and other padded items. www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/baby/sleep/Pages/A-Parents-Guide-to-Safe-Sleep.aspx?fbclid=IwAR2EUHL2KZn59vvkrAI55yymahViIoGi19xsOtdZ0wCfoxSXWvZvopf7xaQ
@Hannah That is why I mention both. Bed-sharing substantially increases the risk of SIDS. No matter how many anecdotal stories you list, they do not erase the evidence. In addition to the increased risk of SIDS, items such as the dock a tot, when used for sleep, can cause positional asphyxia death. This is why the American Academy of Pediatrics and other pediatric orgs state that sleeping Alone, on their Backs, in a Crib or bassinet is the safest way for babies to sleep.
I just found you guys and I'm really loving your content! I had my husband watch Royce's video to fathers and he loved it. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and I'm just soaking up as much information as I can!
This was a great list! I just have to say that you guys have such a beautiful connection and Jaylen has such loving parents. I love you guys and I'd love to see a daddy update from Royce!!!
I love your videos . I feel is the right way to give advices for new first baby born because both are in the same experience . You are a amazing couple and parents thank you for share your experiences with us.
The doc a tot had to update if they wanted their loungers sold in the us because aap is extremely strict with sleep products its approved for sleep in uk and has past tests for breathability unlike most loungers. I got the doc for co sleeping and will use it in my bed as well. I have used mamaroo with infants before and some love it some dont like you said. I plan to get it and try my luck cuz if they do it can be great. I also got comotomo this time with other kids I used dr browns and munchkin latch but latch nipples always collapsed and dr browns are a headache to clean hoping these work for the occasional bottle when I need to sleep (will be nursing as well) I can see why youd like the doubble zipper pjs cuz the single zipper ones can be a real headache cuz you gotta basically undress baby entirely and the pjs today are so fitted for fire safety that it's like squeezing their legs in and out I decided to try snaps which I may regret with my older 2 I believe we used snaps and snapped a couple and left a couple unsnapped lol but I also got the tie gowns hoping my baby will like those 😂😂 the velcro swaddles I will probably get because like you said wrapping up baby multiple times a day is a pain in the butt but my babies didnt like the tightness of the velcro swaddles so ended up not swaddling at all really but maybe this one will tolerate it who knows this is baby 3 for us and all babies are really different and like different things.
I’m a new watcher but i already love the chemistry you guys have. The love is so real! And I’ve been laughing the entire video :). Please keep the videos coming. This helped me so much! I bombed on so many things with my first! Now that #2 is almost here I’m taking notes 📝 🤣
I feel so awful for making a comment that Royce looking like Sinbad. I actually did not know that was his father. I thought it was just a coincidence. You know ppl say everyone has a twin. It wasn't until now that I just said let me look it up because he looks so much like him🤦🏾♀️. Ultimately foot in mouth. Thanks for this video though because its super helpful.
Honestly after doing a ton of research I have come to the conclusion that almost any way a baby sleeps is definitely going to kill it. 🙄 Obviously that's an exaggeration but all the research seems to conflict. So I just hope parents use common sense and do what works for them and their baby. My baby sleeps on his side at his pediatrician's recommendation. 👍🏼
Can you guys do a video on how you would put the baby to sleep after breastfeeding at night or during the day. I’m currently pregnant and I’ve read so many articles that they should always lay flat on their backs but a lot of friends tell me they lay their babies down different ways especially to avoid the baby having reflux from the milk. Pleaseeeeee!!!
I took a binky for like 2-3 years and my teeth (not to brag lol) are virtually perfect!! l think it might be true in some cases but bad diet and bottle rot in baby's mouth is much more common!
Super helpful video, can't wait for the things your regret buying one! Also, can we take a moment to admire Bianca's LENGTH! Curlsmith hair growth for the win! 😆
