You could have a good electrical signal in the fpr and still have a mechanical failure. There's also a gauge to test the hpfp but no one seems to have this. It was a good video
I have Passat 2008 and my car stopped while driving. The starter not working and noticed the ac compressor wheel locked where the belt connected. I try to jump it didn’t starter and the mechanic said bad starter connected into compressor in one component. Also need an oil changed because the oil was low. I was planning to get oil changed but the car stop. Give me your intake about the issue. Thanks in advance!
Just replaced my HPFP, cam follower, fuel module, thrust sensor, fuel filter, pressure sensor, coils, spark plugs and oil change. My fuel pressure sits at 75psi with key on, and aggressively goes between 50-100psi while running. EPC/CEL lights are on its popping up random multiple misfire, low fuel rail pressure and fuel pressure regulator malfunction.. any help?? Thanks!
i have the same exact problem, in high side fuel pressure i see 7 bar, and the low side is oscilating between 60 and 70 psi, what do you think i can do, also the intank fuel pump makes some noise like the voltage is going up and down
Hello, i have a mk5 GLI , 2006 same motor BPY , i have that problem of long ckank. But sometimes, even i’m running well, if i stop and turn off the car, if i try to start again inmediatly it does that long. Crank, sometimes happens and sometimes don’t. So i checked high side and is workin in about 50 bar at idle, and increases if i acelerate, low side, seems to be fine too, it runs over 5 bar. My gasoline filter is 6.6 bar. Should be this the problem? I replaced 2 times with the same 6.6 filter but still the same. What can you recomend to check?? I noticed when car is cold. Is longer the crack. But if i open the switch and press 2 or 3 times the brake pedal. It start really quick. Should be a vacuumproblem?
It sounds like you have a fuel pressure bleed down. Install a gauge on the low side of the system. Start the car let it idle then shut it off and watch the gauge. Pressure should hold above 3 bar.
HI POSITIVE I HAVE A 2006 PASSAT 2.0 TSI, WITH problems at low pressure sensor circuit #2 circuit not getting full voltage, any ideas? other 2 ckts ok.
Your testing the low pressure sensor that’s k. The high pressure fuel pump correct? What’s your voltage? I think there was an old recall on those sensors.
Positive Lead Diagnostics hi, thank you for answering. On the sensor going to HP PUMP, i have 5 volts on the next circuit batterie voltage and on the # 2 circuit about 7 volts when alldata says is supposed to be batterie voltage. And the FP REG. doing the same voltage unplugged and with key on. My whatsap 7023407597 👍🏻
You would have a low pressure as well. You can find acorn nuts and put a sealing surface in the back of the nut. I used a short teflon spacer. Then cap the feed for the injector you think is leaking. Then try to start it. I did this on my sprinter, started right up and the injector was bad
Positive Lead Diagnostics I dont know your name so I dont know how to apply So is gdi fuel pressure selenoid peak and hold type or it is saturated injection type and second question can car runs with disconected harness of that selenoid ???????? Thanks for advance
they are piezo electric fuel injectors, the waveforms look similar to peak and hold, and with the hpfp solenoid disconnected it would run on low side pressure only
interesting look likes an common rail injectors ,but I had repaired one vag dont remember tsfi may be It have fuel simple injectors for idle prm and have direct injector for higher prm one onjector has shorted but on 85000km Love VAG cars ,thanks for answer greetings from Armenia
I have an 08 2.0T & it’s not starting. The engine light came on the day before but was too late to go hook it up. Next day I drove it a few blocks, came back out and it didn’t start. It tried to turn over the first time but now nothing. Lights, radio, sunroof etc all work but it won’t start. Silence. First non-Chevy car I’ve owned and I’m frustrated so came here. I can hear the fuel pump engage...I don’t know where to begin 😞
great video showing the process for this. lets not forget about the metal pieces FROM the failed follower...where are they all now? in the pan? in the head? or sitting in the $700 side cover....:)
I have an Audi A4 1.8 tfsi b8 and it starts up fine in the morning but when I let the car sit on the sun all day right now on hot days and crank it, it delays three or four seconds then starts no check engine light no power loss
This has a fuel pump in the tank as well, it has two pumps. The high pressure fuel pump (that failed) reaches around 50 bar so that direct injection can work properly. They improved these pumps to have a cam roller instead of a follower
@@fuckjewtube69 I disagree... Fuel tank pumps for years have access ports under the back seat.. Easy as pie. Even this cars low side pump takes ten minutes to get to under the back seat. Most cars have easy access plates under back seats these days
this is the reason the cam follower should be replaced every 30 to 40k, and make oil intervals every 4k-5k instead of the manufacturer recommended 10k.
You could have a good electrical signal in the fpr and still have a mechanical failure. There's also a gauge to test the hpfp but no one seems to have this.
It was a good video
Good god, the follower wears out and then destroys the pump and camshaft! Unreal. Well done. Thanks!
Let me start by saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY! , ok now I'll watch the video
thanks
Good job. Thank you Tommy. Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday mate I will have to watch the video later😁😁😁
Happy birthday and job well done.
Awesome video
Very good video! Thanks

What did the cam look like?
the lobe was pretty worn and had a nice rough surface
hi, do u have an idea what the voltage should be on a fuel rail pressure sensor signal; return gray and blue wire? with engine idler
Could you make video for replacement 2008 volkswagen passat 2.0L cooling fan Thank you
Hi mate.. Did you know speedometer sensor G22 location in gearbox JP JC7- 09B 321 107? Thanks
I have the same scanner how do you set up the scale

Have you ever had one that did not require cam replacement?
Hi can you finish the scroll through the measuring blocks that would be really usefull
How much would something like that cost to fix on average for parts and labor?

what id the name of the scan tool you are using because is not vag??
The one in this video is a factory scantool vas6150
hey tommy what if an injector stuck open

Am getting 2.61 on block 103 with vcds... took the pump apart and cam follower seems ok but still getting P0310B and P0877 low fuel pressure help
2.61 seems low. Install a fuel pressure gauge on the LOW side of the fuel system and compare actual pressure to your scantool
Hey Tommy
What made you leave Rosedale Tech. To work on VW products
I was a student at rosedale never worked there
Positive Lead Diagnostics i know you were a student of Paul's. What made you work on vw
I worked at Nissan for a couple years. Then I had a job opportunity at vw and everything they offered me was 100 times better so I made the move
How would you get that cam follower out?
Can you use Electric Fuel Pump
Do Yoh Know What P008a code could be ??
ODIS 😍 make me want to buy VAS

Scanning for codes is where I would start.
Positive Lead Diagnostics I don’t have a code reader and wasn’t sure what to buy..the prices go from $40-$300 at the parts store 😳
Some parts stores will scan it for free. But after that they will try to sell you a part
Positive Lead Diagnostics I can’t get it there to scan it 😭 tried to jump it..nothing
So nothing works at all similar to a dead battery?
Very brightning video.. If u can do a video for removing the cam that would be nice..
How does that happen on a Volkswagen?
Wow thats a trippy design.
great video showing the process for this. lets not forget about the metal pieces FROM the failed follower...where are they all now? in the pan? in the head? or sitting in the $700 side cover....:)
a huge piece was in the side cover, the image with both followers shows a small black piece next to them
What should the high side pressure be
usually 40-50bar
I have an Audi A4 1.8 tfsi b8 and it starts up fine in the morning but when I let the car sit on the sun all day right now on hot days and crank it, it delays three or four seconds then starts no check engine light no power loss
It’s really getting on my nerves since it doesn’t seem anything wrong with it other than that
God, I just did one and now the pressure violently fluctuates between 50 and a 100psi.I might stab a rear pump in. Any suggestions are welcome.
Results? I’m having the same problem thanks!
Man I'm glad I have an electric fuel pump ! How many miles on the car ?
I think around 100k, this veh has 2 pumps, a transfer pump in the fuel tank and a high pressure pump on the head
As common as this is... I have yet to see it in person.
Thomas EXOVCDS Is this a TSB item? VW knows about it and changes it when customer comes in for service?
You're asking the wrong guy! Tommy would know more about that than I.
I don't think there are any tsbs for this, but once you know about it, it should be checked as a preventative maintenance
Positive Lead Diagnostics how often should the cam follower be checked?
I have 2008 passat 2.0t and it cranks but doesn't start. Sometimes it cranks but shuts off shortly after
Any faults? Have you done any checks? Fuel? Spark? You have to see what you are missing. I would look into fuel first
Got same issue can you share what was the fix
You are hereby now know has "Kermit the Glove", lol just kidding, Nice video. Thanks for sharing
Have the parts cannon all ready and loaded, in case you don't figure it out!!
never keep the parts cannon loaded
Wow, I guess fuel pumps in the tank are not so bad after all.
This has a fuel pump in the tank as well, it has two pumps. The high pressure fuel pump (that failed) reaches around 50 bar so that direct injection can work properly. They improved these pumps to have a cam roller instead of a follower
and folks thought a block mounted pump breaking was bad :)))
Tank fuel pumps are much harder to get to than these high pressure pumps. It takes 10 minutes to remove.
@@fuckjewtube69 I disagree... Fuel tank pumps for years have access ports under the back seat.. Easy as pie. Even this cars low side pump takes ten minutes to get to under the back seat. Most cars have easy access plates under back seats these days
@@mikesabin8568 Sure and how many fuel pumps have you replaced? I do this for a living most cars don't have an access port.
needed the blue wrench to get it out of there... (cutting torch)...
There is a Update waiting in the lower Bar :)
Mileage on this? Common problem..Thanks for sharing Tom, Just another reason to stay away from VW. haha
I think around 100k
What's the mileage on that pig?
I was thinking the same Glen. Good ol' Euro trash :)
I don't remember off hand but I think it was around 100k
So main culprit is stuck cam follower..
this is the reason the cam follower should be replaced every 30 to 40k, and make oil intervals every 4k-5k instead of the manufacturer recommended 10k.
I CAN ALWAYS SEND U A PHOTO OF A WORN CAM SHAFT FROM A WORN DRIVER.........REMEMBER MEASUREMENT BLOCK 140........HIGH PRESSURE ACTUAL READING.....
103 is low side if it has a low side psi sensor, 106 140 and 141 are for high side
USE 140 MORE RELIABLE MY FRIEND.........FOR HIGH PRESSURE AT LEAST..GOOD TO SEE U CHECKED MY COMMENT.....
I bet a blind hole pilot bearing puller would take that follower out of there.
yeah your right, it was much easier getting it out with that cover off of the engine
what ? huh? i couldn't hear you over those gloves!
PSK PERFORMANCE Green gloves to remind himself he's working on a diesel. Haha Just like a gas pump.
exmotorsports 😂 😂 😂
i unplug the fuel module by fuel thank, start the vehicle a few times, and that way i realease all my fuel pressure
Sounds expensive!!
DONT FORGET TO PUT IN THE REVISED CAM FOLLOWER......
needs sent to the crusher ;)
