    I love that you talk about how you have support and someone there to help work them, show them, etc. My hubby is fully invested and my partner also for showing, training, exercising and now hunting our dogos. It is also awesome our teenage boys also help out with the dogos. People need to realize with this breed it is a lifestyle for sure. Your days off will revolve around your dogs...especially if you have more than 2. They need multiple hours a day of exercising and mental stimulation. I enjoy your videos and they fir sure are so helpful for new dogo owners. Reading and researching about them are one thing, but owning them is another. We have learned so much through experience of owning them. A tired dogo is a good dogo for sure. 😊

    For those looking to get one of the working dog breeds, like the Dogo is...this is very important.
    Working Dogs are high energy!!!! My wife and I discovered the joy's of a working dog with the Siberian Husky we had ...They are self charging energizer battery's on crack! If you do not get a couple RUNS and several walks in ....DAILY...you *will* have a destroyed house, car, truck, yard, ect....and they will be more aggressive and rebellious. it is a steep learning curve, we learned real quick! haha
    Get their exercise in and you both will be happy and they well behaved...especially for intelligent working dogs!
    Also...
    There is little booties out there that fit over their paws to protect them from concrete if you live in the city and have to walk a mile to get to the woods. if it's too hot for your hand it will burn their paws, I know that Dogo's tend to hide wounds so this is something to be very VERY careful of!

    In the Uk it's a band breed you can still own a band breed depending on who you are and your background also You have to reach very certain requirements to own a band breed in the UK
    you will need appropriate housing
    location 3rd party pet insurance in case of biting or worse they must be netured micro chipped and mussled/leashed in public.
    Basically if you a wonnabe gangster using the dog as status symbol like most young teenagers and unmature adults you aren't owning one legally and the breed is very rare in the UK

    Hi Nicole, just want your opinion on the length of walks with my Dogo Argentino Chica. She is now 28 weeks. I read that walks should be 5 minutes times the number of months therefore about 35 minutes. I walk Chica around 1 hour every day 10 kilometres or more in different settings and I take her to the dog park once or twice a week. Is this to much? Also we have at least one hour or two of play time running after a squeaky ball or other type of grunting toy. As always thanks for your commitment to the breed ❤️.

      I think if she’s sleeping a lot you’ve done well but if she smells her leash a lot and gets excited every time you pass the exit to your house, it’s not. Basically their ideal day is wake up, run til they drop, sleep, repeat.

    I have a 4 year old indoor male who is very gentle and sweet. Very aggressive towards strangers, and only aggressive towards other dogs who show aggression towards him first. He gets along great with kids and pups, and our cat was his best friend until he ran away and never came back. I want a 2nd dogo and I'm looking into pups. I was originally just looking at females to avoid any issues, but I'm curious now about getting a 2nd male pup. Do you think there might be any issues with having 2 males?

    • @DogoArgentinoUSA
      @DogoArgentinoUSA  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would absolutely not recommend keeping two males together. Dogos are typically same sex aggressive, and generally when the second dog comes of age and hits puberty, it’s going to challenge the older dog. In males
      , after a non/lethal fight where they settle their beef and it’s common for them to get ready to hunt as a Unit afterwards. And females however, it can tend to be a permanent fight until one of the females passes away. They simply never get over beef the way males will.

    How long after you first acquire a Dogo Argentino can you bring in another Dogo? My Dad had FIVE Rottweilers which he got AT THE SAME TIME (My Mother was NOT happy). I would like to have two or three but wonder about training two or three Dogos at the same time. I would assume that I should wait until my first Dogo was at least a year, maybe 18 months old before introducing him to a new Dogo puppy? Your thoughts?

    • @DogoArgentinoUSA
      @DogoArgentinoUSA  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it depends a lot on the gender of the dog that you’re bringing in. I do not think that most people are suited for a same gender Dogo household because DogoArgentinos are prone to same gender aggression. If you were bringing a Dogo of opposite gender and I would personally wait until the first Jogo is two years old. And I would introduce on a neutral place and slowly over time.

    freezing winter, outside all the time to make potential burglars think twice before entering the area around my house but having good, warm doghouse. Are the aforementioned conditions good to keep dogo argentino in? (I mean being outside in the cold winter as I live in Poland). Also it doesn't mean I won't be spending daily quality time with him, I don't even plan to keep just one dogo argentino but 2 or 3 to enable them to be social animals at all times, as dogs were created to be. I'm just planing to keep them, not even as a watch or guard dog. I don't want to have dogs that could escape and pack attack someone who was just walking by or even worse a kid. Just a breed I like, that will (only) be a visual deterrent for unprofessional burglars that will think: "these dogs may pose some problems for us, nahh, maybe some other household...". However I heard this breed doesn't tolerate cold weather very well. Thought maybe on a barf diet in abundant amounts (only in winter since I know overfeeding is also not good) they can produce as much heat as they only need to heat themself up like a steam locomotives and melt the snow around them :-)

      Socialization needs to also happen outside the home. Pup needs noises, sounds, sights and environments that are foreign as family becomes pack due to familiarity. Gentle exercise outside is great such as puppy classes.

    My dogo has major emotional problems. Which explains why the lady who sells her puppies for $5000 gave me the dog for free. My dog is a female but apparently no longer being a mom. She is 3 years old and due to her emotional issues I do not see the intelligence that the dogo is supposed to have. She has huge separation anxiety but we are actually very close because she must be with me almost all the time. I actually wanted to return my dog back to the breeder and they do not want her back. So I am going to keep her until I find her a good home. I will never abandon her because she is actually a very sweet and loving dog. But she is a lot of work due to her clinginess.

    • @DogoArgentinoUSA
      @DogoArgentinoUSA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Prior to five months you should be using positive reinforcement only. You should never strike a baby puppy!!!! Would you strike a two month old human? Of course not! 😳😳😳Your puppy is too young to care what you want and so you need to contain the puppy in an exercise pen unless you’re directly supervising the puppy by leashing it to your belt at all times it’s not in the x-pen or asleep in its crate. If a puppy does something wrong at this age it’s your responsibility to redirect it by giving it an acceptable alternative like a toy to chew. Start puppy classes for socializing the puppy.

      My Dogo weighs over 130 lean pounds and he has no issues whatsoever at 3 years old. He is still very athletic fast and of course extremely powerful. Hopefully this will hold true when he gets older as well but that's yet to be seen. I would want to see that Dogo on scales at 145 pounds because it's very unlikely he is that big. I have my dog on an international sight that tracks breed weight and he is the largest Dogo Argentino registered. My dog comes from an Argentine native that moved to the USA. He hunts his dogs here in Texas and has a couple brothers of my dog that are almost as big and they just destroy hogs. I have seen the videos and the extra size didn't seem to hurt their hunting abilities. If possible though you should probably stay closer to the breed standard weight if possible. I had no idea Dexter would be so big when I bought him. He eats super premium food with 3/4 pounds of raw ground beef mixed in so he never had any issues during his rapid growth period. I told him he was getting too big but he just kept growing. Lol.
