    I kind of think of the 'Big Scary Looking' trait as a Positive. We already have 1 Dogo. I rehomed him as a rescue and as an adult. It was too late to do any Extensive training. Our new 8 week old will have security training. Everyone who knows Dogos, knows they have a MAJOR protective streak. In my experience, a big enough THREAT often means you don't have to use it. When I was in Combat I had a Tank. No one EVER wanted to start a fight with me. Other vehicles got shot up, but the enemy usually left us tankers alone. I think of a Dogo the same way. "You saw what she had on the end of a leash - -and you STILL wanted to attack her?" 'Man! you a FOOL!'

      That’s absolutely true. A lot of people take one look at the dogs and they don’t really want to test that. Which is actually a very wise decision on their part because three dogs especially three Dogo argentino‘s are formidable force. Once I had a police officer hassle me because I was on private property walking the dogs but he was smart enough to stop 15 feet away for me knowing that he could’ve probably shot two of them or perhaps one of them at that distance but the third would absolutely have got him had they perceived him as a threat but he took an extremely submissive posture which was wise.

    You are one breeder I would trust implicitly because you not only give the positives (That’s easy to do), but give the negatives with suggestions how to deal with it. Thank You

      It is my belief that by being more transparent in the breed you best protect that breed. If you mislead people by painting an exclusively rosie picture you fail the breed because the right person will accept all the DA characteristics not just its easy to love characteristics.

    I have a 130 pound 3 year old Male Dogo. He is the first of the breed for me. The only one of these issues I have with my dog is the shedding. He sheds more than any two dogs I have ever had. I had Pitbulls for the last 30 years and without any problems. Many people do think he is a Pitbull at first but I don't see that as a problem. My dog more than any dog I've ever had realizes his size and strength. He is very careful and never knocks things over in the house. He also plays very gently with people. He will not bite or chew on my hands and pulls just hard enough during tug o war to win. I don't have a problem with him getting dirty either. He is one of the best dogs I've ever had. He likes people and other animals unless they become aggressive with him then he will put them in their place. I recently was admitted to an out of town hospital for several days and we had to hire someone to care for him. He stayed inside alone and was just let out 3 times a day. He never pottied on the floor or bothered anything. He is so sweet and loving that it's almost shocking when he does become mad at someone or something. He's gentle but he doesn't take any crap from man or beast. We love him dearly. Please keep advocating for the breed it is much appreciated.

    On my 3rd Dogo. Lost my male last year. Such a emotional time in my life. Still have my female and just added a male puppy to our family. Shedding, yes. But love the breed. We travel full time in a motor home and still have tons of time to socialize and exercise them. Having a great time introducing them to the USA. Your right. People are intimidated by the breed but we are proving them wrong. Everyone loves our Dogo’s once they meet them. Even people with small dogs! Our lifestyle is a great way to get them out and live life to the max. Training is #1 though. You gotta stay on top of them 100% of the time. Love your videos!

    I'm with you: I'm on the couch, my guy's on the couch. We basically said we've kept this couch really nice (even with other dogs) for a long time; its just a couch. So, our 112lb "pitbull rescue" that turned out to be a Dogo has his own spot with tons of pillows, since he likes to stick his head under em when he naps. LOVE this guy, he's awesome, and very different from my last "pure breed" APBT.

He thinks he’s a little lap dog who constantly flops and bulldozes me!! 😂 ❤️ and just took the tape off his ears and he is a bit more intimidating than he was with the full ear!

    Have a Dogo now and I'm impressed how quickly they learn. Not bad. It's not a stretch to say they are very intelligent but acts like clowns as puppies. Also are sensitive to being reprimanded. They hate it. Lol.
    Ours is four months old and loves to please us while in training. Just basic sit/stay for now and off leash in the front yard and she never leaves the boundaries of the front yard as she watches dogs, people or bikes roll by.

    • @IrvinBeast
      @IrvinBeast 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SergeantRenegade Well most people hear Shepherd and think it’s automatically an extremely obedient dog. But they aren’t like the German Shepherd. They will listen but it’s always like why, why should I do this or why should I do that. In my experience my CS only will do sit, stay, down, and come. Other than that he’ll just ignore me and go on, they’re a really serious breed or at least mine is he’s 1.5 years old and is 33 in. At the shoulders and 155-160 lbs and he is always on guard whenever I let him out he marches around scent marking. When he’s in the house he constantly checks the windows, if I move to another room he’s right behind me. He’s really good with kids and he tolerates other adults. And he tolerates other dogs he doesn’t really play much with other dogs. Once they start getting size on them they seem to hold themselves on the same level as you. Unlike the German Shepherd who will listen just because, the Caucasian will only listen if the both of you have a bond. Lastly, my CS WILL NOT let anyone in my house if I do not open the door first. One time my friend came in my house cause he had forgot something and my CS tried to mail him luckily he closed the door back before he could get him. But he’s only like that in the house if I take him out the house he’ll let people pet him etc. but he’s very territorial of the house.

    • @IrvinBeast
      @IrvinBeast 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SergeantRenegade No problem man, it’s the best breed I’ve ever had. It’s really like having your best friend. It’s like my CS reads my mind sometimes and unlike other Shepherd breeds you don’t have to worry about all that energy along with separation anxiety at least with mine. He’s just like see when you get home, but socialization with this breed is really really really important I can’t stress how important it is because they get big FAST I think mine was 100 lbs in about 6-8 months and now at 1.5 years he’s 155-160 lol. I really tried to keep him lean which I always keep him lean and during the winter I let him carry a little more weight. But you don’t want a dog that’s 145+ lbs you can’t control, once you get your puppy let em rest that first day then the next start with the umbilical cord training that she talks about in one of her vids it helps with potty training and building that bond with your puppy. Oh also if you put your dog in the backyard if you don’t have 7-8 foot fencing keep an eye on them because some CS are known for leaping out of fencing when they feel someone is too close to their territory these dogs are some serious athletes. But they are the best dog in my opinion if you raise them correctly cause they can do it all I take mine on hikes and everything

    I am so glad you came out with your TH-cam on Dogo's I am a Dogo owner, Lucky will be 3 years old this February, I love him very much I take him everywhere with me but their is a story that comes with Lucky. I paid $2500.00 I did over a years research on Dogo's before I decided to get one I am retired and now have time to give my dog. When I was a younger man I had dogs from Welsh Corgi to rescue Irish Wolfhounds (yes hounds I had two of them) but sadly I could not devote the time they needed so I vowed to not get another animal unless I had the time to spend with them. I am now retired I have not only the time but the temperament (not rushed for time) to give to my dog. I will tell you more later as I follow you, thanks again for the lessons and material on the beautiful Dogo Argentino I absolutely am in love with mine but you did leave out one thing or maybe not. That cuteness lingers on as they mature, Lucky is extremely stubborn and wants his was many times and there are a few times he used his Dogo power and put me in a trans to get him his favorite treats. Your Dogo's are gorgeous and guess what so is Lucky. Thank you!

    Lucy Brooks here. I enjoyed your video about your dogos. We have one named Pancho. He still has his floppy ears and tail. He also has a pirate left eye, eyeliner patch. Really precious. He is now 4 years old, and his bestie is an American Bulldog, a tall one, female, named Lola. Both rescues. Lola was Hurricane Harvey in 2017, Pancho's Mom died and he was flown in from California after her death. He was not going to survive without adoption and placement. Long story short.. they love sauteed chicken thighs, fried eggs, and cheese, with Victor dried food, chicken and rice I buy from the local Feed Store, or freshly cooked ground beef, fried eggs, and cheese, with the Victor Beef and rice. Victor is a Texas-based dog food. They like it. It has fewer ingredients than other dried food. I am always concerned about Pancho choking on a bone way more than Lola... according to the lady my partner bought him from, he almost died ...Pancho is a pill. I think Pedro,... now Pancho's adopted Dad, was had... LOL!! Pancho whines, talks..., whines, and some more to get on the sofa... I just head to bed.. to heck with foolishness... Lola and I are done with it.... LOL!!! good night yall!! LOL

    I had a dogo argentino 3 year old female for 3 months and I sent her back to her original owner when she went into heat. I am missing her a lot now and not sure if I am gonna take her back until June 2023 or not at all. Her and I were very close cause we spent 15 hours per day together which was annoying in some ways because I had to spend all my time with her. She had super separation anxiety and she would be with me as much as possible. I need to get a yard so my dog can take a crap when she wants to. I been thinking about getting a dog friend for her to keep her company for separation anxiety. My dogs know I am alpha so they will not hurt me. My dog actually was a scared dog. When I would target shoot my airgun that shoots a plastic projectile scared the crap out of her. I got real guns too but would not shoot a real gun around my dog unless I had to like if a bear or wolf, etc attacks and attacking predator needs to be killed. I really loved that dog though. Definitely that shedding sucks. I am, gonna have wood floors too. I got 5 sleeping bags and a lot of blankets and even dog beds . My dog wants to sleep in same bed which is annoying. I want her to sleep in bed next to me but that bitch would jump in the bed next to me and take up the whole dam space. Then she would act like I am trying to throw her in a lake with alligators like she was terrified to get put into the bed right next to my bed. Really weird. Anyway I miss the dog but I do enjoy a small apartment that is not as dirty as it was when I had a dog.

    Hi I have a beautiful loving argentino dogo it's kinda strange and sad the way I ended up with Tink. My boyfriend and I went to visit a friend of his that he hadn't seen in a long time. We set a visit for about an hour. This man lived alone and it was just him and this precious dog. We left after an hour next day he call my boyfriend and asked him if he would mind taking him to the emergency room he didn't feel so go so he did he ended up in ICU ask us if we would keep an eye on his place and feed Tink and watch over her until he got out of hospital. Of course I agreed cuz Im a dog lover and I hit off with this dog from day one. Unfortunately her owner was ate up with cancer and died 3 days later in the hospital. So now ive got this grieving dog I know nothing about except all I know is she's 3yrs old and fixed and very loving. Hell took me about a week to study and learn what kind of bread she is. Does anyone have any advice I can get about her. The do's and Donts.

      same as with any dog: love, patience, and lots of walks since being hunting dogs, they need to release all that energy running around, if you live near mountains o beach, any green space you can just unleash him and let him hunt whatever he wants (pretty sure he won't catch any prey so easily, they're not felines either) so you can be sure they have meets their needs

    Excellent video. I've owned dogs for decades now and have always loved the Dogo. I've yet to own one. When I got my first pitbull, a rescue back in the late 70s, my buddy from whom I got him had a Dogo. At that time I thought they were giant pitbulls. But as I've always loved pits, that was never a turnoff. The rescue I had and the subsequent pitbull I had from a pup years later were both, unfortunately, not dog friendly in spite of my efforts. They absolutely loved people and that was never a concern. Are Dogos inherently dog friendly or the same as many pits in that regard? How much does a full grown male and female weigh? What is their lifespan? Do you have litters that you sell pups from? Where are you located? Thank you very much.

    I noticed that your Dogos are wearing two collars. Is one of them an E Collar? I realize that a dog that size must have a strong collar. Also, do you ever use a body harness on your Dogos? I have seen several large breed dogs wearing a body harness. I have seen Cane Corsos, XXL Bullys wear a body harness but the few Dogos I have seen in my neighborhood, don't wear a body harness. Would you recommend a body harness for a Dogo?

I am not complaining ; I just want to know if this energy level is consistent for most of the dogs lifespan; and does having dog neutered lower that energy level? I have a question. I got a sweet 51 lbs, all white dog from the rescue. I thought he was a pit bull mix, which is what I wanted. I made him my service dog and I was in the super market, a lady came up to me and ask me what breed he was. I told her thought he was a pit mix. She told me she owned Dogo's and she thought he is a Dogo mix. After I looked into Dogo's and agreed with her. He's a hog dog, every time he plays he goes after the front legs. I talked to a guy from Texas who used to hunt hogs and he said Leroy seems to be well bread. Leroy gets two to three hours at the dog park in the morning and a three to five mile walk in the afternoon, he is high energy. He totally fits the description of the Dogo he's just small. My last service dog was a French Mastiff/AmStaff mix, people are much less scared of Leroy.

    Nicole! Your videos all rock! You're so right on with your shared experiences and it's great to know we're in this together lol!! Can we add another bummer that I'm finding attached to Dogos, more than any other breed I've owned? Plant Killers lol! They love to dig up, and demolish my favorite plants in the garden! I've heard stories of others as well so I'm thinking it's a good point. What I really wanted to say here though, is regarding the BSL, (breed specific legislation), and what I've been thinking in regards to a way to correct it. I'm so glad you brought it up, because I believe when something is on my heart, and then there's signs in life that come up as well, it's for a reason! Here's my beginnings of an idea: It begins with breeding. There are great breeders out there for all breeds right? The breeders that breed great dogs with correct standards, good genetics, good temperaments, etc. The great breeders also have contracts that require an owner to return the puppy/ dog if at any time in the dogs life, it becomes necessary for whatever reason, to rehome the dog. The great breeders give support and education to the owners of their pups, or anyone who owns a dog belonging to the breed, for that matter, because they genuinely are passionate about the breed. So then why is it, that there are bad breeders allowed to just decide that they're professionals?? These are the people, I feel, are responsible for unwanted dogs due to health issues, temperament issues(Think pit bulls bred for nefarious purposes), and other such issues that wouldn't be bred by a great breeder. If we were, instead of BSL, (put into effect, way after the problem was bred,) to have laws that required breeders go through a process to aquire licensing to breed, and then maybe a renewal process every so often, that would be kept accountable by enforcing fines and even jail time, to those persons who broke the law, and were found guilty of breeding dogs without licensing. It seems to me that it would reduce the amount of dogs in shelters, and rescues significantly. I'm sure that there's plenty of details that need to be worked out with my idea but it's the beginning of something I feel in my heart, should be a law, vs. a law that labels, and profiles all dogs in a breed, due to the actions of humans!!! How is that even fair? Sorry for the lengthy comment here but it really hit home when you were discussing the BS BSL! lol I want to do something, and take action to see if this is actually something that could come to fruition, but I don't know where to start. Any ideas, thoughts, or suggestions would be much appreciated!! Thanks for all you do for the Dogo community! Keep em coming👏👏👏

    As the best friend of a Pit Bully "half pit, half American bully" or "pocket pit" basically she's a 55 pound solid slab of pure muscle. She is very VERY intimidating looking from a distance. Of course when you get within range of her, and her ears go down, that battering ram tail start wagging so hard her whole back half of her body wags, and she becomes the superhero known as "wagglebutt" whose superpower is the ability to lick your entire head with one swipe of her tongue lol. Her favorite thing in the entire world is children. She adores them. She thinks she's a people, and has her group of human kid friends, that live in the trailer park that's butts up to my property. When she knows those kids are out, you WILL take her to her buddy's lol. Once the little 2yo fell down and cried. She came completely unhinged, and barralled through the bottom of the fence in a half second, and was at that kid before I could get her name out of my mouth. The parents cleared the corner, heard the kid crying, and they saw Miracle over too of the kid, and of course..... Well, when they approached, Miracle hit the deck, backed away, and stood whimpering, while they gathered up the baby, who was reaching for Miracle and calling her name. These guys don't speak very good English, and I don't know Spanish, but it didn't take them too long to figure out that Miracle wasn't who hurt the boy, she's the one who got to him first to make sure he was ok. Things kinda changed after that, and now I'll catch mom sneaking treats to Miracle through the fence when no one's looking. She seems to want us to think she still doesn't care for Miracle for some reason, but I've seen her talking sweet to her, and pet her some too lol. I've also noted that if Miracle is out, they'll actually leave the kids unsupervised less reluctantly than when she's not. Now, I'm not talking about "hey dog, watch my kids, I'll be back later" more like they'll run in the house to grab something for like 1 or 2 minutes. They were people who had the premisconception with regards to "scary pit bulls" and Miracle has shattered that mindset for them, and for pretty much every other person she's met. She's a people person, people are her favorite things in the world, and that goes double for children. I have absolutely no hint of doubt, that she'd protect those kids with everything she's got before she'd ever hurt them. She literally loves people, so much so that she's not a guard dog, not at all. Plus her being a 55lb slab of pure wuss. She hears a bump in the night. Does she A) go investigate intent in bringing death and destruction to anyone dumb enough to break in her house. B) run to the bed, lunge up and over me, and hide behind my head looking terrified. If you said B, you win a bite of her ice cream lol. No she doesn't often get ice cream, but man when she does lol.

      @@DogoArgentinoUSA she is amazing. Everything I've seen so far on Dogo's personality, it seems they're going to get along well if we decide to get the Dogo puppy. On Miracle, my wife was the typical person with regards to bully's. She was legitimately scared of Miracle once in a while when she was still a puppy. Always talked about "that mouth that could take my hand off" and so on, she just stayed away from the mouth area. Fast forward a year and a half, Miracle walks in the room chewing on something. Lori "my wife" walks over "what's in your mouth? Let me see." And if Miracle decides to be stubborn, which is always, I then see Lori just jump on in there and fishing it out lmao. Soooo... Still worried about that bite woman? I imagine that tale is much better spoken than written, but it's freakin hilarious to see, especially if you'd seen her when Miracle was between 6 months and a year old.

      BAER testing will reveal the truth. If your animal shows bilateral or unilateral deafness definitely work with a trainer that’s familiar with special needs animals.

    How easy are they to train?? Are they stubborn ?? Why do these dogs in your video all have Ecollars on?? A friend just got a 12 week old Doggo Bulldog mix,who barks back when she tells him no ,,jumps on them etc....shes bought a cheap e collar online...and uses the crate as punishment..Trying to tell her an e collars not the answer....any suggestions??

    • @DogoArgentinoUSA
      @DogoArgentinoUSA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are more challenging than a lab to train.Yes they can be stubborn. All my dogs wear ecollars because every other collar on earth only works if you’re connected through a leash.

    I have read that the regal Dogo is prone to deftness.
    As an established breeder, do you feel their is any truth to this issue?
    Would love to contact you regarding a puppy purchase. Is that possible?
    God Bless you and cuddo's on your taste in K-9's!!!!!

    • @DogoArgentinoUSA
      @DogoArgentinoUSA  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes deafness is quite prevalent as it is linked to the piebald gene producing the coat color. I am not currently breeding due to the Covid-19 issue.

      Had two nearly levitate barking at my Rot/shepherd mix while talking to a neighbor on the sidewalk. My Rot looked at them, looked at me, back at them, at me....I started to laugh and said "NO". He was SO disappointed I took the wind out of him. He so badly wanted to snap them in half. I had to leave as his muscles started to tremble. Looking at me "Dad can I PLEEEEEEEASE just have a little bite just one?" Lmao.
      I still miss that dog 30 years later.

    Anything you can say to help my wife talk me into getting this breed? We have a 4 & 6 year olds. I’m scared for their safety. I can read a dog but kids cannot. Wife says she has experience with protection dogs growing up in South Africa. I fear for my kids and their friends safety.

      It is my opinion for what it’s worth that the entire family has to be on the same page before they get any animal. If you and your wife don’t see eye to eye I do not recommend that you get a Dogo Argentino.

    People will always be stupid. But I rather have people afraid of my dog than want to pet it. I had a boxer and people always want to pet him. I now have a Cane Corso and no adult want to pet him and I love it. Too many stupid people that just uneducated.
