    I adopted my dogo at 22 being a single young woman living alone and he very quickly showed me his needs. He’s so expressive and sensitive and god does it warm my heart. I read his face, he reads mine. Call him my big sweet potato ❤️

    I've got 2 Dogo's and routinely take them hog hunting, they're amazing dogs how they can go from hunting mode to home mode. They understand that when I get my rifles and gear and scoot them into the truck it's on, they got from happy go lucky lounging on the couch to quiet, intense and business mode I swear when I put their armor on they do this little scoot like they're testing to see if I put it on properly, during the hunt itself it's like watching two highly trained assassins smelling the air, no barking or excessive noise almost surreal. But once they get a whiff and the whining and huffing starts they coordinate and loop around and snap at the hog prod and bluff until it commits to one the other instinctively flanks and they grab an end and pin it down for me to finish it, amazing to see. When we get home once we they start recognizing the smell of the area they're from they start to relax and wind down while I bath, check for injuries or thorns in their paws and rub them down they find their preferred snuggle mate and sleep for a while. Their pain tolerance is off the chain too one time, before I got the 2nd Dogo my big boy Braver got jumped by coyotes, in the time it took me to find and catch up to the commotion, about 10 minutes, I thought he was dead because the noise suddenly stopped but when I got there I saw him surrounded by 3 dead coyotes with a 4rth in his jaws. He was covered in wounds, a big part of his ear was gone, his bottom lip was split in half, gashes and blood all over him. The entire 3 hour drive to the vet he didn't whine, when the doc was cleaning his injuries he was calm and collected when I got home he just limped over to his bed and was good as new the next day. Best. Fucking. Hunting. Dogs. Great with kids and if properly socialized, great with cats.

      Great story. What about having several dogos? Do they fight eachother even if trained not to? I think that this is the biggest problem for me regarding dogos as i like to have many dogs.

    • @TheAussie90
      @TheAussie90 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mate, thats an amazing story. i legit laughed and felt ya love for ya dog in that....can only imaging the worry u had running to the commotion and how good u felt to see he fucked them all up......i had a red healer that was bit by a snake when i was at work and came back to him half dead, only to die in front of me an hour later on a vets operation table. im not much of a crier, or even really emotional, but i fucken balled like a little girl then, that hurt worse than i ever thought i could hurt......but i digress, I've got 5 acres, is that enough for a dogo?

    • @somethindarker
      @somethindarker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lucasspencer774 If they're properly exercised they're not aggressive in the least. They are not strictly indoor dogs, no apartment or small homes they need jobs and stimulation, they're almost like pitbulls in their energy. You got to run them at least every other day and you got to train them that when they're indoors no playing. They've never fought each other and the only time one of them got into a fight was with a neighbors dog that accidently got into my yard but I saw the whole thing, Braver went to go say hi but the other dog wasn't having it and snapped nailing him in the neck and they threw down for a bit before I managed to split them up.

    • @somethindarker
      @somethindarker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@TheAussie90 It was weird because we were just on a small hunt not even a mile away from my car it was all last minute so Braver didn't have his gear on. Figured we catch some bunnies or ducks. He has a habit of patrolling around me in a sort of 50 yard radius there was this embankment that used to be a river so it was prettt deep and he crosses first over the hill while I kept going along the other side, then I heard growling and barking and yelping so I'm like holyshit and see some coyotes booking toward where I last saw Braver. The way down the embankment was easy, about 20-25 feet through hard bush got down there in less than a minute but the other side steeper I kept yelling for Braver to "come boy" "come'ere boy" hopefully he manages to get away but when I was halfway up the whines stopped so I sorta went cold for a second. As I climbed I kept telling myself I was gonna kill every last fucking coyote in the area if they killed my dog(i mean Braver was fairly young about 3 1/2 an inexperienced and I'd paid a few grand for him), I managed to get up to the other side and I still here rustling in the bush I book it when I stepped on a dead coyote and thought "attaboy", I turn to my left(and this is why texas bush is epic you can't see shit when you're in it) and smelled blood and kept going not even 4 feet away from the first dead coyote Braver was ragdolling a dead coyote. Braver sort of just sat down and admired his work while I was checking his wounds, the entire drive up until the vet he was chill bleeding all over my truck with half his lip hanging off. Decided the next day I was gonna find him a brother or sister for backup, funny thing is I'm guessing his endorphins wore off because what was left of his ear started itching so he shook his head got blood all over me. 5 acres is more than enough, but you gotta remember they need jobs not just letting them out to run around, walk with them around the property, randomly stop and get all quiet like you've spotted something make them think they're patrolling with you. Get them nice and tired every other day and socialize them with strangers and kids. Teach them commands, mine know stay, heel, bathroom, come, wait, quiet, stop it, patrol etc; They're not German Shepard smart but smart enough, also make sure you teach them YOU'RE the boss, something as simple as making them wait a couple seconds after you put their food down does wonder in showing them their place.

    We just took in a female Dogo rescue (6-7 months old) and after a few weeks trying to find the owner(s) we are now blessed with having her as a new family member and have named her Glory. She's the 9th-10th rescue we've had and right away I feel confident in saying Glory is sizing up to be the most compatible with our family and lifestyle. Sheis also the largest dog we've ever taken in (4-5 Dachshunds, 1 Schitzu, 1 Basset & various small mixed breeds) but she's already proven to be the easiest to house train - VERY affectionate and smart. She's also an extremely powerful dog and that was something that gave us pause in the beginning, but because she is so well mannered, that concern has quickly dissipated. Our backyard is not large, but we take her on regular walks and she prefers to be inside with us anyway and we play with her a lot. Very happy with her and look forward to many happy years. GREAT family dog, IMHO!

    I'm really enjoying your videos. I love that you focus on dogs that are working dogs or have working dog backgrounds, and yet reveal that there are devoted people that have everyday person backgrounds and lives, that just happen to be devoted, and that give honest feedback. I really enjoy the aspects of the activities and jobs people have for them, how people describe all the little aspects, the pros, the cons, the responsibilities and what makes them interesting. It's great to see people doing things that have nothing to do with conformation or repeating standards for the millionth time, and the same background explanations. These are very educational.
    Glad you are getting a lot of the larger and serious dogs down in the list. I was hoping you'd be able to do some stuff on herding and sporting dogs, more hounds, lurchers and the like. NOt the show dog stuff but the dogs outside of that. LIfe with them, their jobs and activities. You had a "5 things.." with a lab but I think part of that was with a show or pet lab? Would love to see more with labs bred for hunting. Chesapeake Bay retrievers, deutsche drahtaar, how about some sighthounds actually still running game somewhere?
    Kelpies, McNabs, hangin' tree cowdogs, Blue lacies, I loved your Catahoula video. Keep on doing what you're doing!

      We were uncomfortable. We don't like cameras or being on the spot. It was not easy for us. The girls talked during the interview. But unfortunately it doesn't show in the edited video. So it looks strange that they're just sitting there. Oh well. Thanks for watching. 😊

    Amazing creatures. Looking to buy a house now and would absolutely love to get one or two to add to the (small) family. I personally could really use a companion animal again and the Dogo looks perfect. My last boy was an American Bull Terrier and a great animal for me. I have PTSD and terrible social anxiety. I keep my exposure to the public and groups of people to a minimum. If someone came to the house (invited and announced, as I don't allow uninvited visits) and I let them in, my boy was very accommodating and friendly. Outside though, he would keep others (human and canine alike) at a certain distance, even those I considered something of a friend at the time, until I approached them. Nobody approached without warning/permission and that is perfect for me. I love the physique, size, and overall demeanor of the Dogo, and being that i"m on permanent disability, I have the time to work and bond with such an animal. When the time comes, I will be searching out a reputable breeder. If anyone has any information on that, please leave a response.

    My partner and I have been living with a dogo for a little over a year now. He's 16 months old and an amazing dog. He popped our dog ownership cherry and oh man did it hurt...haha. What a handful! Handlers need a hand of steel in a velvet glove; Firm yet fair and gentle. We learned so much about ourselves from him and have grown as a family. We have just welcomed a baby girl as well in the household. He's stoked, but we're still keeping her at a distance because he's a crazy little teenager :P We also have two cats and living in harmony has proven difficult because of his intense drive and our cats' fearful nature. Patience I guess!

    I have a Dogo, American Bull dog mix. Her Dogo parts show more than the Bull dog. I rescued her from my step sister and her husband, they bred her every time she went in heat for 5 years. I have her in training, as my service dog. She is 7 now and I love her with all of my being. These are amazing companions and if you have the time, this is the best dog you will ever have the privilege of having you be their human choice!!!!!

    family, very happy for the treatment, and the attention that those dogs have, you have to like a lot to do what you do. to raise them I in my humble opinion, I would ask them to do more videos like this, so that people become aware of the responsibility that comes with the upbringing, this and all dogs, in general

  • @jimmynestro5979

    Good video. I grew up my entire life with dogs. My last breed i was blessed with was a Chocolate lab. Great dog! Words can't describe how much I loved him. I been without a dog now about 3-4 years. And I'm considering getting another one in summer of 2021. I was strongly considering a Rottweiler but I'm not to fond of their life span. I was also considering a Boerboel. But now that I've checked out this video, Dogo Argentino's look like they can make a great friend. Also, they look cool!
