i beat kh3 blind literally yesterday after a 6 month binge through the series, so im pretty disconnected from any discourse surrounding it and the general consensus. the crabs were the best part of the game pre-aqua, im genuinely surprised that people hate it they give you a good excuse to explore probably the best piece of level design in the series, and on critical its a much needed breather. i was checked out after arendelle and thought carribbean was shitty for the first half, but when i got to port royal i was like "this game fuckin rocks" the crabs are like the exact moment when the game gets really good.
I'm all for crabs and exploration but give me a freaking save point. I can't fathom why the save point on the docks doesn't appear until post-crabs. What if I want to enjoy this part in multiple sessions? What if I want a save point I can always go back to for my crab collecting adventures? Gimme a boat, let me beat Luxy in a race, let me save, let me collect a few hundred crabs. Is that so much to ask for?

I also love the Leviathan! I legit got emotional when we got to freely explore the ocean in that world with our own pirate ship because for Sora, that's a childhood dream come true.
In KH1 my ‘go to’ was my custom ship, the “Gun Brick”. Literally just the second cab + 6 triple barrel gatlings, 1 hex barrel gatling, 3 medium missile launchers, & 2 loot gathering jellyfish nets.
Gonna be completely honest. I was EXPECTING this to be about ships. I was like "oooh gummi ship front and center". Almost had me convinced this was about character shipping for a sec until 16# popped up lmao. Also i LOVED the crabs. That honestly was one of my favorite worlds in the whole series. YES! Someone finally said what I felt about finding the crabs. I didn't mind finding them and it did give me time to look around the world more. My favorite ships are friendship, the Leviathan in 3, Atlantica's sunken ship and of course, the Gummi ship. I really liked making a Gummi ship in 3.
My gummi ship in 3 was called "Number Wahn" And it was waluigi's head with nostril beams and fira/blizzard eyes. And for kh2 I just made bill cipher from gravity falls

I never thought I would see the day I’d listen to someone be so passionate about collecting crabs. But I too would be passionate about the crabs, it’s one of my favorite aspects of exploring the Caribbean in KH3. Love seeing those funky fellas in Port Royal and the other islands in that world

Gotta be honest: I never changed my ship in KH1 (or KH2, for that matter). Mostly because I didn't know how to (I mean, I knew how but everytime it told me: "no too big, can't save it" IT'S THE FRICKEN GEPPETTO BLUPRINT, it's YOUR PLANNED SHIP, GAME) "Did you stuggle in the final gummi levels?" that's the point. I didn't. I'll admit that in Final Mix I went red more time that I'd like to admit, but most of my gummi deaths came from when I needed to visit Monstro, he didn't show up and I had to die cause in the original you didn't have the Pause-Exit luxury yet

If you ran out in one area, that pushed you to go look in a different part in the world. And hello Regular Pat's Dad, :) Totally down for a top treasure chests vid too, :) Not sure if this part would be video-worthy, but I always thought the different orders that treasures appeared in the journals/reports as you collected them were interesting. Maybe it helped the player realize there was a treasure you missed in a specific area by starting with the last treasure in a section and filling up that series. Or how it made completionists go crazy by keeping a treasure as tantalizing and uncollectable question mark until we finally got the ability we needed from another world to access it.
Was 100% expecting actually literal ships for this. The thumbnail only affirmed it to me when I saw the gummie ship, and I assumed we'd talk entirely about the blueprints. However, I can not express the complete and unrivaled joy I felt rising inside me as he continued to build up the topic, and then discussed a sea vessel. Maybe it helped the player realize there was a treasure you missed in a specific area by starting with the last treasure in a section and filling up that series. Or how it made completionists go crazy by keeping a treasure as tantalizing and uncollectable question mark until we finally got the ability we needed from another world to access it.

Was 100% expecting actually literal ships for this. The thumbnail only affirmed it to me when I saw the gummie ship, and I assumed we'd talk entirely about the blueprints.
