The Classic Kingdom minigames were Nomura's idea, because his parent wouldn't buy those kinds of games for him when he was a kid . This is from the Ultimania Interview. Q: Conversely, "Classic Kingdom", which is based on old LC (liquid crystal) games, was nostalgic to the generation [of players] who know that era. A: My idea was, because each mini-game is modeled after a short film, just like the other Disney works, one mini-game would be treated as its own world. I say "world", but there's no map, and each mini-game has only one screen [laughs]. Personally, although LC games were extremely popular when I was a child, my parents never bought any for me, so when I grew up I bought them myself, and now I own dozens of them. I wanted to make a smartphone RPG using LC game-style graphics, so a proposal was made [to use them] for something not KH-related [in the past]. That deep desire changed form and was able to take shape. If it's possible, I'd really like to make a real "Classic Kingdom"-style LC game console.
"If it's possible, I'd really like to make a real "Classic Kingdom"-style LC game console." OH MY GOD that's literally one of my most-wanted piece of merch, a KH-themed LCD console (shaped like the Gummiphone, please) with all the Classic Kingdom Games installed!
Im surprised how many voice clips you were able to scrounge up of characters mentioning “games” for the individual spots. That goes for all the ranking videos. It’s a cute touch
Im assuming Pat used the wayfinder project so scrounging them up by itself wasn't that difficult (of course creating the project in the first place was the hard part but you know). Still surprised by how often its said though
46:44 Regular Pat said, “You haven't known the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of High School Fruitball.” And y'know what, this entry conveys the chaos of this minigame perfectly.
pat you're such a gift from the kh heavens (final world or unreality i guess?) like, having a kh content creator who basically has a degree in script writing is just such a gift you're awesome pat
It is genuinely fun... until you have to do it 42 times for platinum, I counted. 7 times to clear each board for the reports and then another 7 for arena missions for each character.
Dear Pat, I realise this will probably get lost in the pile, but I just wanted to say thank you for everything you do. You're far and away my favourite KH channel; I love your dry, wry sense of humour, the level of detail with which you delve into every aspect of these wonderful games, and the enthusiasm and positivity that you bring to everything you take the time to make and share with us. You're one of a select few channels that, regardless of the content you make, I consider worth watching purely for your attitude. In what feels like an ever more cold and cynical world, people like you radiate positivity the way that Kingdom Hearts radiates Light or Sora radiates pure Good Boi-ness. And on days like today, when things seem rough, I can't tell you how valuable that is. Thank you; I hope that everything is going well in your life and does so going forward. As always, you continue to be a huge inspiration for my own content, and I can't think of a more sincere compliment than that. Best, -NB
The Fruitball segment had me absolutely cackling. Genuinely every line is pure gold. "Did you ever have a sleepover or similar sort of get-together as a kid where one of the main events was everyone just sorta beating the shit out of each other for an hour?" made me laugh the hardest I have all week. I can _feel_ the chaos emanating from your description of the game. Absolutely delightful.
I rarely click on sponsors links but Pat I trust Chris and his cookies. Just placed my order been here since 3.5k and I’m happy to be here, now with cookies:D
I'm not even a minute into this, but I gotta tell you, I usually tune out for sponsors but seeing you shoutout a small business owner that follows you is so awesome, and just continues to prove to me that you're one of the realest
you fear the XBox button icons during Tigger's Jump-a-Thon and here I am terrified of the fact the Switch version of KH3 still has the Playstation colored icons when doing the Festival Dance minigame in KH3
I loved how the KH2 manga tried to make the Struggle balls make sense outside of video game logic. As in, contestants got fitted with Velcro helmets and vests that the balls were attached to. Also, I vaguely remember Vivi dropping a yellow ball only in the cutscene where he one-shots Seifer. And to this day I’m still way too disappointed that we never got to see that color in gameplay. Actually, now that I say that, three or four player Struggle would’ve been awesome.
The multiples of 9 actually get even weirder. Whatever number you multiply 9 by, the first digit of the answer will be that initial number minus 1. 5*9=45. 5-1=4. 2*9=18. 2-1=1. 9*9=81. 9-1=8. This pattern continues up to and including 10*9. Since you know that both digits have to add up to 9, and the first digit is always one less than the initial number you multiplied, you can quickly find the answer to X*9. The first digit is X-1, the second digit is 10-X. Yes I have thought about this too much. No I'm not normal.
Dont forget the hand trick. If you do 9*3, you count your 3rd finger from the left (my left middle finger) you have 2 fingers on the left, 7 on the right, the answer is 27. Only works if you have 10 fingers though lol.
There's even more to it than that too. In mathematics, there's a thing known as the "digital root" (which just means adding all the digits of a number together, recursively), and the digital root being 9 continues even after 9x10 9x11 = 99 --> 9+9 = 18 --> 1+8 = 9 9x12 = 108 --> 1+0+8 = 9 9x13 = 117 --> 1+1+7 = 9 This pattern continues forever. The digital root of any number multiplied by 9 is always 9
I gotta tell ya that I appreciate your type of ranking videos. Too often are ranking videos just a repost of a twitch stream using tiermaker. Flick Rush is really easy to cheese with either of the fish Dream Eaters. They have a move called Spout that shoots a pillar of water that lasts just long enough for you to refill all your cards. So basically, use a ton of cards to make a powerful Spout, refill them, and repeat until you win.
I very much enjoyed this video! As it was getting closer to number 1 I was could not think of what it could possible be but then it slaps me in the face and the smile that was formed from shock and happiness would not go away. Great work!
Your #1 spot is so accurate. Back when bbs came out about half of my playtime was taken up by doing the command board. I'd just play it....over and over and over and over....
I'm the most impressed that you were able to find so many quotes of characters saying "games" in some shape or form; I didn't even realize the series had so many sentences with that word in it; that can't have been easy to track down/edit into this video that's an incredible amount of detail on your part!
The sound bites between rankings have got to be my favorite part in these videos, idk why it's so entertaining to hear kh clips out of context.. Also amazing video, incredibly entertaining as always. I love how much you mentioned the 'satisfaction' aspect of minigames. Like even if it's basic, the visual and audio cues make the honey-collecting games so much fun to play. Even when you're not getting the best score, the experience is entertaining enough to make you want to try again and that dramatically increases the replay value
The best entertainment for my neurodivergent ass, besides the subject of the video itself, is to find out whether or not Pat can find 79 different voice clips featuring the word "game" in some way for the transitions.
as far as I'm aware, the quickslide command is actually one of those commands that shows up if you wait long enough. Kinda like how during the 1v1 against xemnas, the later you use the reaction command, the better the result.
As an “older KH fan” (early 30s), we def did grow up with these LCD games in the 90s. They were fairly cheap back then but the biggest producer was by Tiger. They were gimmicky, but fun… at least to me.
32:25 I'm pretty sure it's based on how far the nut has travelled, which includes the first part of the path, before it's within attack distance. When I replayed recently I jumped off the log and hit it basically as soon as I could and smashed the pot in one hit
I actually think the points are based on the sound the nut makes. When the inflection goes up it’s 1 point and when the inflection is down the points are higher
My favorite minigame is the Pit Cell cluster minigame when you first get to Tron, because I had drank two 40s and I was drunkenly like “I want to play a video game before bed!” I was conveniently able to accomplish that task before I passed out on the couch in a pool of my own drool.
I think this is the first time I’ve ever intentionally purchased a sponsored product from a TH-cam video. Can’t wait to try the cookies. Thanks for the awesome content and (more importantly) cookies!
Never stop putting this amount of effort into your videos. If you make reference to something, even if its a throwaway bit, and I see it on screen, that matters to me. Great video
One if the funniest things in the series for me is that you can cheese the banana flan by summoning Simba, but the big one can still just nom you out of nowhere, despite being a giant lion made of fire
36:00 I really wish I knew this on my first playthough. That song will forever be etched into my memory from how many times I heard it during my Blind Critical mode run.
I almost didn’t want to watch this video, because it didn’t seem like a very interesting topic, but now that I’m watching it, I had forgotten how witty and sharp your writing is. You could talk about anything and make it funny and clever.
Kudos to this behemoth of a video👏👏👏!! I’m watching through this video and I’m realizing just how much freaking time and effort must’ve went into this video. Like not only did you write a script, find footage, edit the footage, record yourself etc. you actually played every single mini game, probably back to back for hours on end😱😱😱. Like I can’t get over how much time that probably took. Seriously, more people need to appreciate the care you take to talk about all of the aspects of KH that make it the game we all love🥰 Great video and I can’t believe how eloquent you are after probably 24 hours of KH mushroom and flan brainrot🤣 Happy September aka WHM💅
I'm probably not the first person to guess this, but is there a possibility that the Lone Runners were supposed to be called Sole Runners? Sole means the same thing as Lone, but also, you know, works as a shoe pun that just got lost in translation.
I'd never really thought about how any of the KH minigames stack up against each other, but when I saw this video, Hunny Slider was the first thing that came to mind for me. Glad to see it ranked so high :)
Worth mentioning the water mini game in DDD was very different on 3ds, where instead of pinballs, you used the touchscreen to activate jet streams to blow the dreameaters into prizes. Yeah, the pinball version was a better mini game.
Pro tip for the balloon bounce minigame - circle and triangle are different bounces, as is just… *not* pressing any button. IIRC one of them will let you just kinda breaststroke upwards for awhile to get extra hang time, allowing you to move quite a bit more to the left or right while waiting for balloons. The dopamine rush you get upon reaching the top balloon is ABSOLUTELY worth it too :3
31:50 Me and a friend played through the whole series together for my friend's first time, and when we got to Tigger's Giant Pot, we made a joke that he was smoking marijuana when we just walked up and broke his pot, and Tigger just forces us to go in debt to get money to pay off the broken pot lmao. Everytime we saw Tigger in series after that point, My friend and I dub over him being pissed as fuck and asking for money, it was amazing lmao.
The way that Tigger's Giant Pot works by awarding points the sooner you hit the nut, so basically if you hit the nut as quickly as possible, you can earn up to a maximum of 10 points.
Eeyore is complaining to Roo about "tackses", Rabbit is chiming in, pretending he understands what they are, and claiming that he pays them because it's part of being a grown up. At some point Roo points out that with the way Eeyore is describing them it seems there's no way he'd have to pay them since he lives off the grid in the woods. Eeyore admits he just knows they exist somewhere and wanted to complain about them and now Rabbit looks like a lying fool.
I had played KH2 since release when I was a kid and still go back to play it now as an adult. One of my favorite games of my childhood and im only now discovering that there were skateboard minigames in it.
The 9 tables thing makes a lot of sense if you think about it logically. When you multiply a single-digit number by 9, it means that, once you add that same number again, it'll be multplied by 10. Therefore, the last digit must be the difference between 10 and said number. For example, 9x8=72. If you add 8, you get 80, and you'll notice that 2+8=10. Furthermore, the first digit has to be the multiplied number-1, because by adding less than 10, you get to the next number that ends in 0. So as in the previous example, to get to the number 80 by adding less than 10, you have to be in the 70s. What this means is that you add 2 numbers that, if you add 1, you ALWAYS have to get 10, so it has to be 9. Breaking down the same example again, with 72 you have 7 (8-1) and 2(10-8). Putting it a little bit more mathematically the formula for adding them, if we imagine the number as the letter n, would be (n-1)+(10-n). n substracts itself, leaving us with only 10-1, aka 9. I assume the same base formula explains bigger number but right now I don't wanna deal with that I already explained this to the best of my knowledge
I’m 33, I not only owned Game and Watch classic game collection for my original gameboy, I also had the old all built in one beep-ey calculator screen handheld games too.
You damn near killed me with your Fruitball segment, and I can totally agree with it. "Here ya go!"/"Chipper!" And "Here's my never-blunder wonder ball!" Are eternally stuck in my head
I was born in 1991, and I definitely had some LCD style games that I played a lot when I was very young. They were also Disney-related, so that mini game made a lot of sense to me.
I want to congratulate and appreciate all the work you put on this videos. Like, some probably don't think too much about the Minigames of a particular series and when making this video you didn't take the lazy and simple way out. You did put on the work or talking about each entry, inserting your style of script and humor on each one. When you reach the Kingdom Games entry I was expecting for you just gloss over, but you actually made the effort of talking about all of them individually. I might not had grew up with LCD games, but Mr. Game & Watch had been my main since Meelee and I love how they reference so many of the classic Mickey Shorts from the 30s and I for certain am happy that you actually went ahead and talk about them. Also, You yourself converted me in to the Command board stan, I saw you play it and I thought they were cool, really wish if there were actual multiplayer in the re-releases. Honestly I wish it could be it's own game somehow. Back on topic, I want to make it clear that I appreciate a bunch the effort you make for this videos, you probably didn't thought you would reach the 1 hour mark, but you went ahead and did it and I think the result is amazing and interesting! Fantastic work, Pat!
Great vod Pat glad to see the mini games of kh finally getting some love would love to see a ranking of all the Olympus cups, Mirage arena, and battle gates etc in the future and congrats on 4 years

What a vibe.
I think this is the first time I’ve ever intentionally purchased a sponsored product from a TH-cam video. Can’t wait to try the cookies. Thanks for the awesome content and (more importantly) cookies!
This was honestly so fascinating - I knew about maybe a 3rd of these mini games? Keep up the great work, Pat!
A legend has returned
This is gonna be the top comment.
I would love to get some cookies from Chris, but I’m afraid I literally live in another continent.
But I’m happy for Chris!
THANK YOU for validating my love of Command Board, you're a good one
Never stop putting this amount of effort into your videos. If you make reference to something, even if its a throwaway bit, and I see it on screen, that matters to me. Great video
One if the funniest things in the series for me is that you can cheese the banana flan by summoning Simba, but the big one can still just nom you out of nowhere, despite being a giant lion made of fire
36:00 I really wish I knew this on my first playthough. That song will forever be etched into my memory from how many times I heard it during my Blind Critical mode run.
I imagine the kingdom mini games were nostalgic for some of the older developers and staff. Like Nomura or hashimoto
What a creative way to add the Classic Kingdom games! Wonderful job!
I almost didn’t want to watch this video, because it didn’t seem like a very interesting topic, but now that I’m watching it, I had forgotten how witty and sharp your writing is. You could talk about anything and make it funny and clever.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who absolutely loves the Command Board. I was obsessed playing it for hours.
It's herreeeeeeee
Also Happy 4 Years Pat! 4 years of banger vids
Seriously, more people need to appreciate the care you take to talk about all of the aspects of KH that make it the game we all love🥰 Great video and I can’t believe how eloquent you are after probably 24 hours of KH mushroom and flan brainrot🤣
Happy September aka WHM💅
That's so funny. I was playing command board for the plat while watching this video. Thanks for keeping me entertained through the grind
Seeing your finisher names in the BBS segments are hilarious and I’d honestly love to see them all.
I'm probably not the first person to guess this, but is there a possibility that the Lone Runners were supposed to be called Sole Runners? Sole means the same thing as Lone, but also, you know, works as a shoe pun that just got lost in translation.
wow i much prefer this
26:12 Sure, mobility is the focus... Right up until you remember that the cure command exists and you can just spam that to win with 0 effort
I'd never really thought about how any of the KH minigames stack up against each other, but when I saw this video, Hunny Slider was the first thing that came to mind for me. Glad to see it ranked so high :)
A nice minivideo about minigames
Worth mentioning the water mini game in DDD was very different on 3ds, where instead of pinballs, you used the touchscreen to activate jet streams to blow the dreameaters into prizes. Yeah, the pinball version was a better mini game.
Pro tip for the balloon bounce minigame - circle and triangle are different bounces, as is just… *not* pressing any button. IIRC one of them will let you just kinda breaststroke upwards for awhile to get extra hang time, allowing you to move quite a bit more to the left or right while waiting for balloons. The dopamine rush you get upon reaching the top balloon is ABSOLUTELY worth it too :3
The honey slider section is sending me, I'm full on cackling 😂😂😂😂😂
This was great. Thank you for taking the time to rank all of these. Keep up the awesome work.
Sometimes it's useful to have a garbage memory, I get to visit this mans videos and vibe quite often.
Pat, you’re not alone; I absolutely *loved* Command Board when I played through Birth By Sleep on the PC port of KH 1.5 + 2.5.
The way that Tigger's Giant Pot works by awarding points the sooner you hit the nut, so basically if you hit the nut as quickly as possible, you can earn up to a maximum of 10 points.
Jungle slider actually gives different rewards in the original KH1, not much different though but just a fun fact.
I love how Deep Jungle sports both the lowest ranking and nearly highest ranking mini-games on this list.
Wonderful video as always, but I do request that the Sin Ranking portion be turned into a short as I want to send that particular section to friends
Mushroom 1 is actually a timing minigame akin to the "clash->break through -> finish" reaction command in that one Xemnas fight
#36 Ironically, Final Form can also cheese that one with its stationary glide.
"When people say they want a full Verum Rex game, are they talking about this?"
I think what those people are looking for is called "Armored Core"
"Here ya go!"/"Chipper!" And
"Here's my never-blunder wonder ball!" Are eternally stuck in my head
Can I just say, the light cycle from kh2 was how I died the MOST TIMES during my critical level one playthrough (I beat genie Jafar first time tho 😅)
Bro same!!! I skipped the Stitch summon until I was done to save time
To quote myself from the KH3 platinum run:
100 Acre Wood? More like 1 Acre Wood
I was born in 1991, and I definitely had some LCD style games that I played a lot when I was very young. They were also Disney-related, so that mini game made a lot of sense to me.
Gotta say, this is the best sponsor I’ve seen in a while! Plz make Oatmeal raisin, but I’m buying those raspberry ones right now :3
I want to congratulate and appreciate all the work you put on this videos. Fantastic work, Pat!
that's gotta be the most wholesome advertisement plug
good luck chris
36:19 54:24 Ranking within Rankings awaits you, Riku!
That’s such a sweet sponsor! I love that you did that!
Hey Pat! Haven’t been around much but I’m getting caught up on your videos! Glad to see you’re still going strong!
I’ll pop over to a stream soon. :)
I’ll stick up for the Command Board too Pat, you’re not alone there bro. I really thought I was the only one too.
Great vod Pat glad to see the mini games of kh finally getting some love would love to see a ranking of all the Olympus cups, Mirage arena, and battle gates etc in the future and congrats on 4 years
I was born in 1992 and LCD games definitely were part of my childhood, along with NES. Tiger Electronics were everywhere in the 90s
31:25, am I reading that command right? Flying Shitekick?
Im thankful for this video because its the most i'll see pat praise kh2
I am SO HAPPY you have the command board as #1 I was waiting for it and then when you talked about it I was like YESSS and then you mentioned Cinderella and I had to pause from laughing so much because absolutely same. Thank you for this video I relate so hard 😅
