- The big issue with these engine is apparently the cam variators and the forward cam caps needing a check valve installed. Did this earlier engine get lucky and get the uppgrayedds it needs to be reliable?

Good engines. Designed and built to be reliable actually. Issues here or there but minimal overall. Love mine in my GransSport.
Still looking for a way or a place to mount this engine. Want to use it somehow
Not sure but it looked like the check vale was flush but it should be a bit lower because if the engine gets hot it could get stuck and stop the oil flow i reccomend you check that again
Wow! Pretty amazing.
Do you lock the cams out or use someone’s ecu that allows vct control?
If I can use stock software, that will control the cams. There are aftermarket standalone solutions that can run the variators as well, from what I know so far
@@ThrottleGrottoyou should be able to use stock software on it, but you might need an immo off
DX = DESTRA (right side)
SX = SINISTRA (left side)
you will see that often on italian cars, most likely for driver passenger side markings
@@fluke9 thanks for the italian lesson! I'll probably have to write that on my white board to remember it for a while.
And there is an immo off product that is pretty easy to purchase, just need to get one coming.
So I've had an 87 928 for 25 years, and also have a Maserati QP Sport GT S. I'm not big on swaps, but approve of this one. I think that engine will match the 928 very well.
Thanks! I hope it all goes as planned and it fits nicely in the bay.
