I absolutely love 1960's yamaha twin cylinder 2 strokes as well as vintage hondas. I'm over the moon I finally found one of these local to me that i could actually afford and now its running. Stay tuned, hoping to have it rideable in the next few weeks. 🙂

Really need to go over it completely, carbs, oil lines ,oil pump setting, timing , gas tank, tap & screen, etc. They are very reliable when running, I had one in 1966 and just rebuilt one again recently

Thanks for the comment bud. Ive actually got her running like a top now. The floats heights were set WAY too low and one of the spark plug wire caps had an internal break when i shot this video. I've actually got the final video with a test ride on this bike filmed. Just have to edit it. Thanks again for the comment and please stay tuned for more content. 🙂

I love these Twinjets. Very rare in the U.K. have a 1977 XT500 & love it.

Thats wild bud when i was a teenager i picked up a 1978 xt500 for 300.00. Smoked like a freight train but was still an ass ripping torque monster. Mine had the tank with polished metal paint and cleared over top. Thanks for the comment and the views. I really appreciate both. 🙂

Got one of these in my shed: Mine runs perfectly! Second bike I ever owned. Lovely little blob

Thats awesome!!! Since this video ive obtained a battery for it, and an oil pump rebuild kit. Im hoping to have the charging system functioning and have it running well enough to do a first ride video in the next few months. Thanks for the comment and for watching.🙂

Great job. I have the same bike in 1967 with electric start. Where did you find the carb kits ? I'm unable to locate any. Thanks......

Sweet deal. I actually have the engine dialed in now. I absolutely love riding it. Nothing like the sound of a twin cyl 2 stroke. Thanks for watching and the comments.

    No matter
What it is high , constant RPM kills engines. . Sounds like seals.

Ive actually got this bike running like a top now. The main issue was that the float height was WAY too low on both carbs. I do also agree with you though. It does need crank seals too. She's a bear to get warmed up but once she's up to temp she runs perfect. Thanks for the comment and the views. 🙂

Can'i understand why you had to rev the daylights out of the engine on first start !

    • @morbifiedrides545
      @morbifiedrides545  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Ive since found that the crank seals were hard and not sealing properly which was creating a vacuum signal issue at lower rpms. It wouldn't stay running without reving it. Also there was alot of gelled stroke oil from the injection pump in the bottom end. So for me it was a combination of trying to keep it running and trying to blow out all the extra oil on the bottom end. Im also happy to report since this video that the bike is now rideable and runs excellent and is an absolute blast to ride. It puts an extremely large smile on my face every time i get on it. Thanks for the comment and the views. 🙂

      @@morbifiedrides545 Great !
In 1972 my friend and I used to hotwire his brother's YL1(he worked offshore for 2 weeks at a time). Both of us learnt to ride on that bike and Oh, we had some adventures with that bike !
There are hardly any 2-strokes in my country anymore. On the whole the population do not like motorcycles, so you do not see many.
      At 68 I ride an Indian=made Yamaha FZ25, single-cylinder 4-stroke.
I still miss the 2-stroke bikes.
I am happy for you. Getting that Twin-jet going again is an accomplishment ! All the best !
