Nice bike. My friend and I used to hotwire his older brother's YL1 (who worked offshore) and sharpened our skills ! That was in 1972 !
Before that, Yamaha had the HS1 a 90cc twin !

I have 2 YL1 Yamahas I fully restored from 30 years ago which I picked up for just a few dollars. The petrol tank sides should be chrome plated, not painted is shown on this video. My YL1s both have the optional electric start but no turn signals. Lovely looking bike they are now very rare and desirable.

I bought one just like this used in 1971. Wonderful memories of it! I went all over on it. It also was a beast and just wouldn't die no matter how I ran it. Great Bike for beginner!!

I had one .think I paid less then 400 dollars brand new in 69. I was 14 worked on a horse ranch making 1 dollar a hour.

I had an YG1K 80cc. But missed out on a YL2 single cylinder 100.
