I am proud to release my first user requested video regarding dell Optiplex 5 pin fans. Here I teach you how to make any fan compatible with 5 pin connectors. This is an easy and affordable home solution to this slight issue.

How easy does the 120mm case fan shroud come out of case once heat sink has been removed. My friend had problems with his dell (the model your showing here) where it kept powering off. On inspection of the heat sink under its shroud, I found the most clogged up heat sink and fan. Guessing the lack of fan is causing the pc to overheat, rather than there be a psu issue. Unfortunately, you have already taken the fan shroud off which I was hoping to see for reference.

The fan originally was but was rewired to the "5 pin" plug.

I'm lost on how to put a 12v 140mm case fan In my Dell 9020 Optiplex.. It's a Thermaltake blue led and has a 4 wire all black pin . I'm an old bike teck I can build wireing harnesses but I know I have to run it molex but don't know how to use the other 2 on my mother Karen rear fan that has that has the 4 wire in a 5 pin plug. Hope this makes sence and you know.. If you do could you help.

Sorry for asking so much, but that adapter could work with a 3pin fan?
