    Geko might have low calcium and is building mass fibers to try and keep the bones together.
    Tehy need some calcium they can't produce their own like we can. Reptiles in captivity can have huge bulbous growths like this as a result of
    calcium deficiency. Something that can easily happen in a terrarium unless accounted for.

      @martinhuhn7813 หลายเดือนก่อน +108

      Sounds like a good reason to add more egg shells and perhaps cuttlebone to the vivarium On the other hand, I wonder, where the reptiles get sufficient amounts of calcium in the wild, which are missing in that ecosystem vicarium. Any idea? It might be more worthwile to find a solution which is close to the natural world.

    To make you less concerned, the gnome ants are a natural competitor against ghost ants. I've tried keeping ghost ants and have seen many of my founding queens get ripped apart by native wild gnome ants. They can even take down a small fire ant colony! Especially with a colony this big, they may drive the ghost ants away.

    The best mesh design to keep small ants out or in are small boxes with X in them, its more complicated but I found this works well, I have this type of mesh on my screens for my larger vivarium and I have a lot of ghost ants in my area and so far after 5 years they haven't been able to move in, I've even found queens trying to get in but can't

I think I am finally winning using liquid ant baits and also spraying a mixture of vinegar and water on their trails to interrupt their pathways. I have a cat and one thing they love is wet cat food. It's hard work fighting the bastards. Wishing you luck with them and you have much more experience with ants than I ever would. I live close to Orlando and wish I could go to Animal Con to meet you. Species Variation: Different species of fungi that form fairy rings can have varied colors ranging from gray to white, depending on their genetic makeup.
    Maturity and Growth Stages: As mushrooms age, their colors can change. Many mushrooms start with one color when young (like gray) and turn lighter or even white as they mature and their caps expand.
    Environmental Factors: The color of mushroom caps can also be influenced by external conditions such as moisture levels, sunlight, and temperature. In a more humid environment, they may appear darker (grayish), while drier conditions could lead to paler (whiter) caps.
    Spores: As mushrooms release spores, the cap's surface may appear lighter or more faded. This can contribute to the change in color from gray to white over time.

    See I like how this episode played out. I personally and maybe solo in this but I've grown tired of the cliffhangers. There is no need for the old "you guys wont guess what happens next" than cut to black and saying "to be continued" trick, like for sure we know it will continue it has for so many years now and it feels manufactured as if the events aren't organic as intended. Plus unless something catastrophic happens of course there will be more episodes and you would be vocal enough video other outlets to let us know that kind of details.
    Long story short enough with the video ending cliffhangers, do more fully complete videos like this and expect that we know next week something even more crazy will have happened.

    • @ArtzyZero
      @ArtzyZero หลายเดือนก่อน +21

      I don't mind if the cliff-hangers lead into something significant in the story he likes to tell, but instances like the already dead egg that was teased in a previous episode fall flat when you realise they contribute nothing to Pantdora's overall story. He then left that episode on a cliff-hanger to tease the possibility of it hatching but in this episode revealed it was just eggshell from the chicks he'd hatched. It's those 'plot threads' that bother me. It takes away from the real cliff-hangers that I want to see, like this one with the ghost ants.

      @@ArtzyZeroi think he might be worried (for good reason because of the way the algorithm works and people's attention spans and patience) people are only interested if we are left on the edge of our seats, but i believe most if not all of us enjoy the quieter moments of the series and don't mind at all if there isn't something super exciting or crazy every episode. he does a really good job of explaining to the audience who might not understand the stakes, so the tense moments feel tense already without him having to fabricate new things or hype it up more than he does. normally i don't mind as his energy and way of doing things kind of just feels like part of the channel you know, like part of its personality and i like how distinct it is and i haven't really ever felt like he's purposely trying to trick people. but the egg thing was the first time it bothered me and i hope that was just an experiment that he doesn't keep going along with!
      it's okay that he didn't know if it had something inside it so took us through the journey, and even leaving it open ended wasn't too bad even though it was a bit annoying to have that whole episode dedicated to something we knew wasn't going to hatch. but this callback for it in this episode rubbed me the wrong way and hopefully it's not the path he goes moving forward!

      @@piperpine7858 He massive clickbaited things when he released the lizards. "Oh no, maybe Godzilla attacked them!" for 20 minutes, followed by releasing them.
      And people were naturally upset and blamed the crocodile, when he could have just started by saying "These are wild creatures and they've been in here for 6 months. It's time to let them out."
      But he had to build up the dramatic narrative instead and there was an intense backlash on that one that he then had to spend a ton of time cleaning up the next week.
      And oh so coincidentally that same week there was a brand new baby sunskink in the tank he'd never noticed.

Next time you see you could put it in a temproary enclosure for a couple of days and check how it affected the invading ant colony. I mean for such a huge biome you got surprisingly few predators that prey on ants.

    The lump on the side of your Gecko may be concerning.
    A large, adult green anole sitting on our patio table seemed listless. He too had a massive lump on the side of his face. Suddenly, a small opening appeared on the lump and about a dozen small, white worms crawled out of the opening. A few minutes later the beautiful anole rolled over on his back and died.
    Don’t know what exactly it was that killed him, but hopefully not what your Gecko has.

This obviously depends on the food/diet specifically, but is usually because some lack certain things our bodies need, and others give us way too much. For example, processed foods are super bad because they have very VERY little nutritional value, while still giving us way too many of the things we need only a little bit of like sugars and saturated fats. Healthy diet = healthy body = healthy immune system = less cancer.
