The Moody Blues had 4 lead singer, and they could all harmonize. I was blown away with them when I first heard them in 1970. No one was doing music like this. It was all Led Zeplin, Santana, Jimmy Hendrix, hard rock, with no thought as to what was in the lyrics, and the same 1, 2, 3, 4 rock beat. It eventually got boring. But the Moody Blues, would take me to another world. Thanks for posting. It brought back great memories. Oh, and that is the Moody's themselves playing all the instruments.
The first time I heard this album was when it first came out and it was also the first time I ever took LSD (orange barrel). I felt like the guy on the cover art. It was a perfect moment.
@@bumperu Ai chihuahua! Thinking it was a hoax, I soon began to see all manner of hallucinations, at my first place of employment, eyes as wide as saucers. Thank God for the Moody Blues and hip friends where I escaped to and came down. On the drive there, billboards became large donkeys eating hay. Colorful time!
the Mighty Moody Blues always a musical journey. their second concept album which should be listened to end to end to understand the concept and its such a great album
This song was way ahead of its time. I would listen to this album from start to finish. Puts you on a different level. Grab that third eye, and the “word” is Om. 😎✌️❤️
I had this album in college. After The Beatles ( George Harrison) introduced the sitar into popular music, and also brought Transcendental Meditation to The West, we had such music as this. Yes, very relaxing …..and an album that was often played when we were stoned. A song such as this, when you’re stoned, is just pure bliss.
Hard to believe that this “almost forgotten” band was once as big as the Beatles! Absolutely love the Moody Blues! I didn’t get to see them live, until the early 90’s, but they still totally had it ! Peace
proper stereo was still relatively new for pop/rock records when this was made (album covers would proudly state if the contents were in stereo) and MB's were one of the first groups to really explore how to use that to create atmosphere
Arguably, Yes were the greatest symphonic rockers as far as the beautiful sounds they created. But, as far as for myself, personally goes, the Moody Blues are the greatest bunch of lyricists in all of pop/rock.
Never heard this one. Just the usual hits; LEGEND OF A MIND RIDE MY SEE SAW,,, I'M JUST A SINGER IN A ROCK n ROLL BAND,, etc. When I think of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones sitting around cranking out obvious HITS going to each other "Ya that sounds great! Let's do it"!! And this song had to have been a struggle!!?? Like: "Hey! What if I make this sound? ". Oommm?🤔 Maybe? Great Reaction! Peace ☯️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼🕊️
🎊 When I was first introduced to the Moody Blues in 1973, I was a college student. Yes; Rock & Roll was the driving force that we were all moved by…but we had to study, too. This music that you say, basically, would put you to sleep…was “background music” while we studied, conversed, and did things that didn’t require “motivation.” It was either pleasant, sophisticated, listening music at a dinner party…or it was pleasant, contemporary, “white noise,” when doing something that you enjoyed. Sometimes it’s just nice to get off of that 100 mile per hour treadmill and just slow down for a bit. Does that make any sense?
Howdy, folks: This may be the first album I had by them and it was quite an experience from start to finish. Speaking of stereo and sound effects, you should listen to The Best Way To Travel from this album. Although one would need quad to accomplish this if you listen to it in stereo with your headphones, there is a place where a high note is going around above your head in a clockwise circle. Did they engineer this or did it just come out that way. And, maybe it's just my imagination! Candle Of Life and Eternity Rode are two other beautiful songs by these guys.
You can connect with it if you get out of your head. It gets you into your heart which is where your meed to be. In your head you cannot stop thinking and that gets tiring and your mind will control you. There is a lot of music that you can mever understand ot because you are in your head. As soon as you get into your heart the meaning comes to you because you feel it. Meditation does more than calm you and lower your blood pressure. You will find out who you are and you will understand/inner-stand what is happening in the world at this time All because you got out of your head. The head is good for physical things in this dimension but for things that are not you have to get into your heart.
This is an album band and, from their beginnings, they wanted to offer symphonies... something larger than AM radio Top-40 hits. Their albums are not 1-track pieces but entire 'albums'. They would DEVOLVE into singles but their first 4 and even 5th album were true 'albums'. I know you can't do Whole Album Reactions but I hope you're listening to Whole Albums - digesting them. It's like eating a meal and starting a meal and having it taken away after 1 or 2 bites.
Don't try to think this song (the head). Feel the song ( your heart-the body. Did you know that the heart was the first organ created long before the body was formed?
The Beatles used the sitar on at least 4 Beatles songs. I have friends who were big fans of The Beatles but didn't care for those particular songs. Personally I quite enjoyed them. It's similar to listening to music from the Middle East or even Japan. We should all broaden our horizons.
Yes, this is a rather meditative song The Moody Blues often take you there but let me tell you, I've got meditative music unlike you've never heard. It relaxes your mind, your soul, your stress is relieved. Artists like Jonn Serrie, Patrick O'Hearn, Richard Bone, Brian Eno, Enya, etc. to name a few, take you to a whole different place. Don't get me wrong, I love all kinds of music (I was a teen in the 70's) and I proudly share my knowledge of the so many genres of music that so many don't ever hear. All I can tell you both is I thoroughly enjoy your musical discoveries but I do encourage you to at the very least give these aforementioned artists a try, not in the reactive concept of course but for your own personal listening. You may be pleasantly surprised.
Glaring lack of cowbell, but a glitzy little dance tune, notwithstanding. Like being married to you underwear, or IN your underwear. Like me, an acquired taste. My first taste of this coincided with my first, so to say, philosopher's stone. Budding philosopher, might I add, with a bit of double entendre. Harrison rolled a fatty and bid I partake...then popped on this album. There is a groovy mandala upon which to meditate as well. America, at that time, was xenophiliac, unlike today, where too many fear foreigners, or what scientists call aliens. We read spiritual books from Hesse, Buber, Lama Govinda, Yogananda, Gurdjieff, Ouspensky, Ram Dass, Tim Leary. And literature. One reason the best music happened then. The Moodies probably read the same books. They are a more mature Beatles. Dig.
In College we would have a lunch break, and Rodney would take me and 2 other friends to his dorm room and we would smoke a joint, Rodney had all the Moody Blues Album's 😑 🙄 😒 🙃 and we would escape reality for a while all there Album's are tremendous, in the early 2000's had a chance to see them at Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas, Oh what a performance that was😮 Peace 😊✌️ your 70 year old forever Young Hippie Gary 🕺💃 Great Reaction👍 more Moody Blues "I'm Just A Singer" & "Your Wildest Dreams" Please 🙏 and Thank you 😊
I love the Moody Blues and I love this song but this is not the way to introduce someone to their music. Pick one of the more mainstream songs. Nights In White Satin or Tuesday Afternoon.
I am trying so hard to support. But after a 1000 reaction videos, I don't have the patience for average or obscure songs. There at least 4 much better songs on this album alone. I want your channel to grow, but it will be difficult on this path.
The Moody Blues always took us on a spiritual journey with gorgeous, lush songs and meaningful lyrics.

First trip for me was 1968, LSD, orange sunshine and the moody blues. Best ever.
The Moody Blues albums always feel like you need to listen to the entire album from beginning to end.

My first J was while listening to this album and song. Perfect confluence.
1973, Windowpane, and the Moody Blues.😊
@@FaintlyTapping I think Orange Sunshine around that time was my big trip-out. It really works!
Chocolate Mescaline. 1973.

Thanks, you wonderful people!! The Moody Blues always took you on an adventure!!! One of my favourite bands growing up in Canada!
One of my favourites too and I'm also from Canada. I had them all up until Octave which was a blue vinyl album.

My dad once talk to someone from the Moody Blues Who said they were bigger than the Beatles

Love the Moody Blues❤ great song from a Great album!❤
Moody Blues had a unique song I couldn’t stop listening to back in the early 1970’s, called “Isn’t Life Strange “. Strange indeed! Give it a listen😁

Wonderful grp.” Lovely to see you.” This is a big rabbit hole
I listened to this a lot in Boulder in 1976 and still love it
The basement bar at the Hotel Boulderado and the Blue Note club on the mall. 1979.
Boulder…1968-1970, and yes, this album, among others. Great place and time! ✌️✌️
This era was i fluenced by Indian music - Tablas & Sitar - Ravi Shankar was on the scene big time and I believe he's playing right now in this song
He's Norah Jones' father, also.

In Search of the Lost Chord is excellent as well. You need to listen to the entire album. The two songs are supposed to flow together.
They recorded in stereo and quad mixes 4: 1 thus you hear this left and right thru your headphones

Try the tracks from the whole album, in sequence!
I believe "Om" is a sound a Buddhist monk chants.
😊 love you guys personally I meditate to music every day and all different kinds without it in today's society I would go crazy 🤔
Meditation happens every second of every day, you just have to see it.
If you have time, listen to the whole album Days of Future Passed from start to finish. It’s awesome.

They put music to "The Word"? Prefer the original, just spoken, dialogue which fits better with the second part of the song.
