    The Moody Blues have always spoken to my heart. The combination of the lyrics bathed by the vocals and lifted by the music is so nice.

    Who knew? Beautiful orchestral mixed into a rock song....we had everything back then musically. Magical time!

    The album is about a day, and a lifetime. By the afternoon your life is half over and you start looking back with some melancholy feelings. Justin Hayward on vocals and Mike Pinder on that mellotron. This is a special album.

    Imagine hearing this album in 1970, on a 200 watt stereo system, with large speakers, with a 15 inch bass woofer in each speaker. To say "I was blown away," is an understatement. This album, Days Of Future Past, took me on a Moody Blues journey, that I've now been on for over 50 years.

    I grew up listening to this group & they are one of my favorites from the 60's-80's. Love their mix of rock with classical music. They have a sound like no other band. They have had so many hit songs such as "The Story In Your Eyes", "Question", "Ride My See-Saw", "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)", "Gemini Dream", "The Voice", "Your Wildest Dreams" etc. Many of their records are concept albums & meant to be listened to all at once.

    I’m so glad you heard the long version of the song! This one actually is two songs, “Afternoon” and “Evening” on the original album. You are very right to let the emotion of the music to guide you instead of interpretations of the lyrics. You are such a dear couple! Thank you!

    The Moody Blues have always held a special place for me. Their songs have a very spiritual and positive effect.
    Out of the many bands and concerts I saw in the late 60's early 70's, including Woodstock 69, one of the best was seeing them at the Music Hall in Boston around 1970. Love your reactions!
    I think you would like "Watching and Waiting" and " Have You Heard?" So many great songs.

    Once Justin Hayward and John Lodge joined and Dennie and Cliff were gone, the Moodies they became a completely different band. One of the most brilliant of all time, straight up there with Pink Floyd , in my humble opinion.

    I was born in the 60s, live my childhood in the 70s and the 80s were my teen and early 20 years. Some of the best music ever created came from those eras, especially the 60s and 70s. It is so refreshing to see someone younger, listening to, and enjoying the music I grew up with. The expressions on both of your faces is priceless. You can tell as soon as the music starts how much you like this song. I really enjoy your reactions.👏👏👏👏👏

    The MB were my number 1 all through my teenage years. Their lyrics were so poetical, both melancholic and hopeful- the perfect accompaniment to teenage angst! I still love to listen to them. I was also so much in love with Justin 😂

    They were one of my favorite bands. I became a teenager in the late 60's. In my mind, easily one of the 10 best bands of the greatest era for rock music - 60's and 70's.
    Love your reactions. Some reactors, it's questionable as to whether or not they actually like what they are reacting to. Your reactions seem genuine to me.

    A time of getting up and having the aggravation in life start to move away. Chasing the clouds away, the trees are drawing me near, I see that as the beginning of comfort. Moving to the fairyland of love, a new start.

    Great reaction!! You actually listened to two tracks - Forever Afternoon (Tuesday?) and Evening (Time To Get Away) - they are considered one track on the album - an album that you'd be best to check in its entirety! Days of Future Passed - basically a 'day in the life' concept - where each track is a different part of the day! It's an album that always makes me feel good - no matter my mood prior.
    This made my Friday! Thanks. Cheers.

    Theses songs come from the album Days of Future Passed made in 1967. The whole album is about one day in the life of any man. It was the second album by the Moody Blues and began their journey into progressive rock. It was done with the London Festival Orchestra but they did not record at the same time. The orchestral sounds on the individual songs were played on a Mellotron. The orchestra made the transitions between songs. This album was their second album and the first of their "core seven" albums put out between 1967 and 1972. They put out 2 albums in 1969. Those 7 albums were Days of Future Passed, In Search of the Lost Chord, On the Threshold of a Dream, To Our Children's Children's Children, A Question of Balance, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour and Seventh Sojourn.

    This is a very important song for me from my childhood. I have my own personal meaning for it but, the lyrics are the kind of vocals that are only intended to provoke an emotion for the listener that is unique to them and their own story.

    I would place more emphasis on the Moody part of their name than the blues. They are very introspective and often melancholy with their songs, which bordered on poetry with a little bit of music behind it. It might help to evaluate this song in the context of its place in the album. Days of Future Passed was one of their concept albums reflecting on the various times and energies of a regular day. Each song can definitely be dissected for meanings on its own, but the album is best digested as a whole. In my mind they are genius artists

    Hi, Dominica and Andre: All eight Moody Blues albums from Days Of Future Passed to Octave are very good. You two should check out the first track on this album. It is a symphonic collage of all that is coming on the album.

    Nice review! Just realized in listening to reviews of this song and other old songs how in the old days , like thru 70's and early 80s, bands would put different unique distinct voices and instruments in each ear. That changed in the 80s and 90s and bands stopped doing it. Interesting.

    They really didn't have an orchestra. They had an instrument that sounded like an orchestra, called a mellotron.

    • @leannmiller7153
      @leannmiller7153 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but the album cover states with The London Festival Orchestra conducted by Peter Knight.

    • @jackempson3044
      @jackempson3044 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was just a name Decca records made up of the classical musicians that helped on the album but you can't even hear an orchestra on the song itself. I only hear the mellotron and keyboards. I hear no real strings or wind instruments. @@leannmiller7153

    • @NYCOPERAFAN
      @NYCOPERAFAN ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leannmiller7153 The orchestra plays BETWEEN the songs - linking them together like movements in a symphony - but not during the songs themselves. The orchestral sounds in the songs come from the mellotron played by the magnificent Mike Pinder.
