How many bands out there have lead guitarists who care so much about their fans? This interview oozes with the passion and love we all know and expect from Trey. The Sphere approaches!
@@GrimAtmospheric Trying to pass off your puff the magic dragon children's book college thesis put to terrible noise as entertainment 40 years later is certainly dysfunctional! Seriously, Trey's tone sounds like a dying cat!
Trey is a gift--his energy, positivity, curiosity, wonder, appreciation and, of course, creativity know very few boundaries. Phish is a legend and they refuse to be satisfied and still. Unbelievable. Proud to be a phan!
At nearly 60 years old, Trey Anastasio remains as vitally creative to music culture today as ever. Listen to how artistically in tune he is with how to use The Sphere in a revolutionary way that expounds on the fingerprint of a band. This dude's musical mind has been deeply relevant to listen to for over 40 years. After starting from Vermont basement gigs in 1983, he is now at the helm of most elaborate artistic engine of a building ever made. I bet Phish at The Sphere will set the standard of everyone band after.
I cried some tears of joy when gamehendge started (83 shows over 20 years)...they know how to make things special. I often think about how incredibly hard it must be to play a show like that, one time, then move on. you put all that work and thought into something that becomes a memory as soon as it ends. crazy.
I cried the whole set, not even joking a little bit, the whole time. Still can’t believe it happened. 53 shows 30 years. Had nosebleed seats behind the band. Best show ever.
Wow Trey, thank you. Best band in the world. I can not express how this all built on so much gratitude, love and "YES AND" mentality. For them to feel like they owe us more and more the longer it goes and up the level of productions and magic, just made me cry. I can't express the love and gratitude I have for this community because those words are not deep enough. I can't wait to see these Sphere shows!!!!
Saw a show of Trey with BB King. BB said of Trey, “I don’t know where he gets his guitars. My guitars don’t get those notes.” Ultimate compliment from one of the Kings. ❤
This will be a life changing event for a lot of people. Although I can’t make it I’m happy for every person going and also feel incredibly lucky that we have Phish and a band that cares so much about its fans while constantly pushing boundaries
OK Can we just put this band in the Rock Hall of Fame already? How many more groundbreaking musical innovations must they accomplish??! Amazing-as always ❤
Amazing. This man … phish …. people who aren’t fans, who don’t listen, don’t understand the love and emotion behind it all that is shared between the artists and fans. The environment it creates is truly unique …. when tapped in you feel like you are in the clouds. Loving it!!! On a personal note, my life has been altered by Phish … elevated. It’s hard to describe.
Such a great interview. Trey is a consummate artist and beautiful, gracious person. We were so blessed to host Classic TAB @HealingAppalachia last year. So wonderful to see him joyously creating and just oozing life and music and art
Trey, you are truly one of a kind! We couldn’t be luckier for your improvisational genius. Thanks for continuously blowing my mind! Wish I was able to be there, but we will rage couch tour! Unless anyone wants to send us. Face for your extra! ❤ Excited for Mondegreen!
I'm so, so excited for this. Every time Trey/the band goes into full planning mode for extended periods of time, we get something pretty special (baker's dozen, kazvot, etc). I have no idea what to expect on the livestream, but man I can't wait. edit: and it definitely wasn't just people in the building who cried during gamehendge. I bawled my eyes out the minute TMWSIY started on the livestream. Still can't believe it happened.
My lord I LOVE THIS GUY!!!!! :) Trey - you are more than what you appear to be on the surface -- I mean we all are -- but you really do HEAL people with your music... Love you so much!!!!
We love this band so much. I love this band so much....and year after year, I always get thr impression that they love us just as much. It's been quite a ride and based on recent tours, I have no doubt that the best of Phish may still be yet to come. To everyone going to the Sphere, have the best time ever!! I'll see all you fine pholks in Delaware this summer for the fest!!!
I want to be there so bad. The passion Trey exudes here, espeically at the end nearly brought me to tears. I will be at Mondegreen and still haven't been able to bring myself to watch Gamehenge on NYE yet. #2 show as of right now.
I have been in love with you guys since 1996 and there’s just no getting around that! My life would be much grayer without you guys. Thanks for everything!❤🎉
Love this interview. Phish and U2 are two of my favorite bands but are completely different from each other, so it’s awesome to them appreciate each other!
So excited to be heading your Vegas (baby) way today, mahalo for this inspiring interview, Trey has always had a way! Oh what a kind, creative, collaborative, culturally connecting creature are he and the band ohana the whole pham dam Amazing and perfect to get to be the second band in state-of-the-the art Sphere, just couldn’t miss this inaugural honor!
The only tickets I couldn't get. Just found out last night, one of my favorite performers(Phish hires street performers for their festivals)that I met backstage years ago, got tonights show. I'm agonizing over whether to stream or not tonight, probably won't be able to not do it. Will be at Mondegreen, and know that is going to be an amazing return to their own unique way to festival, can't wait to see everyone. If anyone, can elevate the sphere, the boys are going to do it. Kasvot Växt shows just how far they will go for fun, tricking their fans so hard, but for me, that Airboat/Meatstick was hard to beat, then playing till dawn. Whatever they do, there won't be anything like it. There is nothing like a Phish show. Now, if we could just get everyone to read that book~!~

Just stop! This college garage cover band distances themselves so far apart from thier dysfunctional fans, its hilarious!!
What?
If they really cared, they wouldn’t sell their tickets through Ticketmaster
And who you calling dysfunctional there Louis?? That's not fair man, nope not at all.
@@GrimAtmospheric Trying to pass off your puff the magic dragon children's book college thesis put to terrible noise as entertainment 40 years later is certainly dysfunctional! Seriously, Trey's tone sounds like a dying cat!
I am so grateful that I get to live on this earth at the same time as Trey and The Phish from Vermont! The one constant in my life since 1992.
🙏💜
Me as well 8/23/92 Pueblo Co
Amen
Same. 100%. They got me through the best of times and they got me through the worst of times, and everything in between. AND They keep on giving.
All rock stars should be this humble - how can you not love him?
He hasn't always been this humble
I wouldn't exactly call their ticket prices humble. 😂🤣
@@jim6186 Yeah, youll hear this from a lot of his contemporaries. Hes grown so much and has become wise beyond his years.
idk I saw phish in Seattle last year I think I paid $25 per ticket didn’t seem that steep to me
What a rare combination of talent, awareness, joy, respect, passion and compassion…amazing.

Almost as bad as his band. Lol

You don’t know how fast I ran from the hallway to the seats when the first notes of Harpua started! One of the most emotional shows that I’ve been to.
I cried the whole set, not even joking a little bit, the whole time. Still can’t believe it happened. 53 shows 30 years. Had nosebleed seats behind the band. Best show ever.

Agreed, but also unnecessary. WE know who they are.

Trey is a Jedi. Not only that, all the guys in the band are outstanding role models for young musicians.
This guy right here, He's a wealth of joy and humbleness. Thank you Trey and Thank you Phish. See you this summer.
this may be the best year of Phish, ever. which is absolutely wild to think about.
The mid 90s were absolutely legendary. Them Europe shows, especially Amsterdam. The 90s in general owns my heart.
WOW! PHISH has continuously amazed me for decades! Thank you PHISH
Why is it that I always want to give Trey a hug when I see him?
With great power comes great responsibility! The passion, intelligence, and creativity are something to behold from this respectful human!

That directional sound system has to pose challenges at some frequencies. Interested how the mix happens.
