Even if the points hadn't been taken away she still would have lost. This is absolutely disgusting. This is what anti-meritocracy looks like. So how far are we going to take this? Have an elite class of athletes and 'unfortunate accidents' for peasants who don't let them win?
@HeyIt'sMe XoXo that's the unfair part. The girl wanted to have a true match against Serena and instead she got her throwing a fit like an animal all game and being forced the win so everyone boos her afterward like idiots. I'm sure it felt very unfair for her. I feel a lot of sports players would rather take a second place than that kind of win where you are looked down at because of the oppositions incompetence
slaayerr1 I truly feel bad for Naomi. She really doesn't deserve all that hate. Hopefully, she'll go against a better opponent (with respect and integrity) in the future.

Her point wasn't that the umpire was harsher towards her compared to towards Osaka. Her point was that he was harsher towards her compared to towards male players, who have gotten away with saying far worse. Next time, do read or watch the video instead of laughing without knowing anything about the issue.
I was always shocked she didnt also try playing the race card, she was already stretching so hard that claiming the umpire or her opponent were racist seems like the next logical step for a petty sore loser like Serena.
First: she cheats Second: she yells at the umpire for accusing her of cheating Third: she breaks her racket Fourth: she verbally abuses the umpire Fifth: she claims that the umpire is sexist Somehow him being sexist doesn’t add up, I wonder why?
I want to hug her, she seemed so sweet and polite. I don't know if Serena was right or wrong but her behavior huh, she's stealing the moment from this other woman.
Everyone is feeling so sorry for Osaka, what is wrong with everybody, professional tennis is one of the toughest jobs out there, she played thousands of matches against people shouting and whining and crying. And finally she won a grand slam. Serena Williams didn't ruin anything for her.

"I've seen other men call OTHER UMPIRES, several things" See that's where your problem is, the Umpire she was accusing of sexism has a history of giving code violations and taking away points from both Djoković and Nadal, for the exact same variations as her even. It's not about what other Umpires let men get away with, this Umpire doesn't do that based on gender, he is fair. But she is upset because he isn't fair in a way that benefits her. Also, he took away a game from her because you committed 3 code violations, not because she said thief.
well said thankyou.... so many things wrong with her it seems.. arguing with ref.. lying about her coach coaching form the sidelines.. ungracious winner and worse loser.....
Serena Williams was upset because she was clearly loosing the final to Naomi Osaka. Had she won this US Open final, it would had been her 24th Grand Slam championship, equalling the World-record of Margaret Court. She was expecting, as spoiled Americans often do, for the umpire, and the whole World, to..."give her a break" and perhaps "lend her a hand" by "turning a blind eye".
knowing your referee temper is a good thing. But that will be useful only if you are lucidly making a scene to upset your rival and stop her good moment. My impression, since the warning was of a breakdown. I think the saddest moment was not backing down after the match.
She's not fighting for women's rights. She's doing it all for herself, she is selfish and greedy. I absolutely cannot believe the pettiness she has displayed by breaking the rules and then calling sexism in order to empower herself with a legion of man haters, that's why she said it. Here's a shocker for you, if you break the rules you get to suffer the consequences "other people broke the rules, so I can break them too right?" DOENS'T WORK AS AN ARGUMENT. Why are so many adults CHILDREN?
Because their parents were too busy being children themselves to learn to be a mature responsible adult, and therefore to teach those characteristics to their children. That's why.
She would probably not have turned to offense if she didn't feel like the umpire was threatening her. The only reason she would feel that way is if he was telling the truth. It's also extremely egotistical to demand an apology for an accusation that has not yet been disproven. As if so much as questioning her actions is inheretly a mistake.
I think the umpire did a great job being professional, controlled and accurate with his point and game penalties - better than I would be. The victimhood rant was just more of the same that losers fall back on when they have no argument.

All things aside, that was really pathetic. That poor child is being used just because Serena fucked up by her own doing and couldn't accept she was losing the match fair and square.
Umpire Carlos did not "steal the point," Serena LOST the point. And the game. And the match. If one is to look for blame, it would be on Willams' coach, as the umpire is clearly following the rules. It would have been so simple to just stare at the ground added yell, "Coach, please don't gesture and move; I'm going to win this on my own." In tennis, you could be losing 5 games to love, and you can still win, taking it one point at a time, one game at a time. THAT is what champions do. What do losers do? They blame the loss on others.
Honestly, how in a match where 2 WOMEN are playing against each other how is following the rules sexism. The umpire is strict but not a cheat. She also ruined a grand slam victory for another women and this is just toxic. She should honestly just read the rule book sometime.

I fully agree with you. She disqualified herself in my eyes. But then I'm hearing that this was not the first temper tantrum she had on the center court. Time for her to leave the tennis so she cannot spoil the game in the future.
Exactly can you imagine this kind of thing happening at the US open in the 1940s,50s or 60s when tennis players respected the umpire and umpires decision is final. Tennis players since the 1970s have become very spoilt maybe because of the vast wealth that is in the sport since the early 1970s.
in all honesty, her coach was trying to give her hand signals but she was trying not to look at him or respond to the coaching. she only flipped out in the end because she was being accused of cheating when her coach was, not her.
I am more appalled at the lack of tennis sense ( or knowledge) of the USO audience. They kept booing the umpire and cheering for Serena when she played her cards one by one, sexism, mother, victim, daughter. No one shows the proper guts to stand up to her except the umpire ( in this match) and the lineswoman ( in the Clijsters match) and then she flipped when that happened.
Right..Serina is a big time bully with a track record. NYC crowd supporting her is retarted as it’s dying to be politically correct in the worst liberal tradition. And being politically correct means finding racism, sexism, antisemitism etc as soon as one opens his mouth. However, in all fairness, Ramos did bring out the worst out of Serena instead of controling her anger. They were both out of control. Conclusion: it is time for Serena to retire while she still has some dignity and it’s time for Ramos to be re-trained.
rimtutituki92 yeah I agree that Ramos could use a little bit of a restraint NOT to bend any rules or do anyone a favor but just to keep the pace of the match in smooth flow so the audience can enjoy the battle of racquets not words. That said this only points out the obvious. Serena is vulnerable to a younger and more fit player who is not intimidated by her game or presence and has a solid game plan and not prone to folding when in the lead during the match.
Very depressing for Naomi to make history with such a victory but get booed over something her opponent started & only get cheers when that person speaks on her behalf. Serena stole what should have been a dream come true experience.
This has destroyed Serena Williams career. And she did it to herself. I, for one, do not care about her self destructive fall from grace. Her attempt to shift the blame to men was pathetic.
Sore Loser. Easy. Umpire literally did nothing wrong...at all. He followed the rules almost perfect. Was he a bit stingy? Yea, maybe. But it was within the rules. Rules are rules. I have NEVER liked Serena ever. Honestly this is the problem. You watch guys freak out on court all the time. But you know what? 95% of the time the moment a male player gets warned or told off by the umpire they back down and get back to it. I have witnessed many amazing male players, including djokovic and nadal break their rackets and get penalised. Her demanding an apology and going off in that rant was actually disgusting behaviour
I am positive you will not find anything. Djoko, Federer, Murray, Dimitrov... the list goes on almost for every pro, all those threw their rackets. From Nadal, the only thing I saw once was the intention to throw it, but he didn't throw it at the end.
@@davidbielsa5188 I know I've seen Djokovic smack his racket on the grass once. Whether the racket actually broke I don't know. They don't necessarily give you a warning if the racket doesn't actually break
Makes no difference if Nadal broke a racket or not. The Point here is that the men occasionally lose their temper or get frustrated and break their rackets or argue with umpires. If you've watched a lot of tennis you would notice that the men take their warnings and press on. They don't sit there and badger the umpire for a full set like Serena did. She has a history of being a poor loser and making verbal threats to officials on the court. She actually walked off the court in a semi-final match where she was clearly going to lose just because she disagreed with the call from a line judge. That set's a bad example of sportsmanship no matter who you are. She was being outplayed and she knew it so that just added to her frustration. I wish people would stop defending her obvious bad behavior on the court. Your accomplishments don't grant you a pass every time you want to throw a fit. I don't even know why people had to debate what was so obvious. She stole that amazing moment from Osaka who was going to win the match regardless of that outcome.
I'm going with sore loser. its very possible she wasn't cheating but that doesn't change anything if your coach is trying too. Umpire caught the violation and called it out. The one she should of been mad at was her coach for trying something so stupid and costing her. The Umpire didn't give the verbal violation initially most likely because he gets players vent a little and need a moment to pull themselves together. That is why he doesn't call out many of their insults but she kept going back over and over again refusing to let it go and forced him to make her stop. Ultimately the first violation may have been out of her control because of coach but the 2nd and 3rd were all about her temper. Also, what sexism? it was a women vs a women. Its not like the umpire was handing out absurd violations to give a male competitor some advantage.

She should have acted like the champion she's supposed to be and taken her complaints about sexist treatment by some umpires to the media and talk shows!
Osaka beat Williams earlier this year
She has a lot of previous violations - a bad history I have looked at a few and it is ONLY WHEN SHE IS LOSING!!!
i agree with all of the above
Look, Serena's rant was cringe worthy, the way she talked, her intonation, ton, etc was aggressive and humiliating and quite frankly embarrassing to watch, especially considering who she is and what she's achieved. That said, I do tend to agree with her that there seem to be double standards at play here....would be interesting to see a montage of other similar exchanges on the ATP tour and see whether or not they resulted in a penalty....even more so with Ramos.
Exactly!!! What rich spoil and entitled poor sportsmanship
Serena: Verbally abuses the referee every chance she gets
Referee: Gives her a penalty for it
Serena: You're only giving me this penalty becuase I'm a woman!!!
Serena was the thief. She stole Osakas moment. Not a big fun anymore.
Don't know what match YOU were watching, Mr. Savage, but Osaka was dominating Williams - better to face facts than make excuses...
Mr. Savage, what are you talking about? What game were you watching? Naomi Osaka dominated Serena in both Miami and US Open this year.
I'm no tennis fan, but I think Osaka defeated her previously as well.
Were you watching ufc? Drunken might?
@@ardeleanalex-bogdan9484 are you serious, man??? Osaka was leading
First game she won 6-2 , then she was also leading in the second set. What's sad is that she was a big fan of Serena , and Serena took her moment which is really not polite. Osaka even apologized to the audience for winning, and surprisingly Serena was nodding as if Naomi was right and shouldn't ve won, where in reality she won the game fairly , and that's just VERY impolite and disgraceful.
+Mr. Savage - Serena, is that you?

Imagine being a kid to this woman, telling all your friends what an absolute role model she is, then seeing her throw a temper tantrum like an utter baby. The embarrassment will be tremendous.
All the feminists who watched her religiously have the same mental capacity as her and are still defending her to this day, so not a huge loss to her really.
All things aside, that was really pathetic. That poor child is being used just because Serena fucked up by her own doing and couldn't accept she was losing the match fair and square.
imagine being a kid to this woman? imagine waking up every morning to see a man like ugly face everyday 🤣🤣

Geomancer becuase she cheated she acknowaladged the hand signals
Actually he did
The rule should be changed, but until then it should be enforced.
Honestly, how in a match where 2 WOMEN are playing against each other how is following the rules sexism. The umpire is strict but not a cheat. She also ruined a grand slam victory for another women and this is just toxic. She should honestly just read the rule book sometime.
Hello McDonalds eula
Well the argument of sexism is that the referee would not have punished a man so harshly. And there is definitely an argument to be made that stuff like that happens. In this case Serena was just being a petulant child.
@@alexschalk5439 I don't play tennis so my opinion on this isn't worth as much as someone who does but she had already committed two violations the same game before the verbal abuse one and I believe the verbal abuse was the last straw for the ref. I've looked at quite a few articles of men who have said things that would qualify as verbal abuse without getting a punishment but those were single isolated instances without the ref having to make previous violation calls on them the same game.
Don't forget that the other victim is Carlos Ramos!!!!!!! He was abused!!!!
John Smith oh, poor Umpire, should he call his mummy because Serena called him a thief. He was a wuss and ridiculous. Serena has also mental disorder who always plays the victim and is quite entitled. Shame on both. The Umpire was pathetic and Serena a scumbag.

Yeah. Personally, I've never been a fan of the Williams but I've respected them. May she have a bad day and then she lost it one time? Sure, we're humans. The big BUT here is her lack of humility of admitting her mistakes later. She's no victim here... she's the aggressor who transgressed the rules once and again during that match and repeatedly verbal-abused of th'innocent judge. Shame she's more into a political victim suit instead of of one saying the truth and being a good sport. Sad.
@Stacey Mobley what-ever, she's fixing to get more. Still a lot's of money for two weeks. Serena has 180 million and counting.

Let’s put ourselves in Osaka’s shoes real quick: you grow up looking up to this woman called Serena Williams... you grind your way through the ranks, sweating tears and blood each day to get to that point of facing the best players in the world and when you finally go against your idol they turn out to be a little lab steroid rat that can’t take a loss?!?!? I would be crying too. 😓
The worst thing about this is Osaka has won 3 grand slam titles and was ranked number 1 in the world back in 2019 but is best known for being Serena's opponent during her meltdown.
K, Serena may have screwed up here but she’s not a fucking “little lab steroid rat.” She rightfully earned the grand slams that were given to her and she also rightfully lost the Grand slams she didn’t earn. Regardless though, in her career, she has worked immensely hard for what she’s earned. This instance itself, yes she’s at fault but because she fucks up once, doesn’t give you the right to call her a steroid rat.

Shame on you Serena and all those who are apologizing for her disgusting and shameful disrespect for her opponent.
Serena was born male so it's all cheating.
Absolutely!
Well put.
Right on my friend, she has shown time and again that she deserves to win, the Japanese girl that beat her badly was 1/3 of her humongous size and she was at disadvantage at all time but she won anyways. This has been blacks mentality and sill is. “they are never at fault and if they are, the world must forgive them because they are back”. That is all bull crap.
MOSTLY LIBERALS IN THE AUDIENCE.I GUESS.

Very depressing for Naomi to make history with such a victory but get booed over something her opponent started & only get cheers when that person speaks on her behalf. Serena stole what should have been a dream come true experience.

One thing is sure. The spectators of US Open is even worse than Serena herself. Never saw such mean spirited spectators in the game of tennis, ever.
Men who argue with officials don't attack their morals. Women who argue with officials attack on a personal level.
Serena ruined the game for osaka
She completly disrespected Naomi doing a tantrum because she knew the going to lose and wanted to put all the attention on herself
Sore Loser.
I am honestly curious: do you have any reference (video, event, anything) of Nadal breaking a racket? Or throwing it to the ground?
@@davidbielsa5188 not sure. Id gave to look . I know Djokovic has
I am positive you will not find anything.
