It was there I shredded my last hope for humanity. Everyone, everywhere should praise young athletes when they take on and defeat established champions. It gives you hope in the future of that sport you love so much. Especially, doing it at such a young age, and after playing fewer of these slams.
Yes and Serena agitated the crowd by her entitled rant at the referee. She knew she was going to loose and needed an excuse. It's all about her. Her superstar status is too big. Nothing to do with racism or sexism.

Dude, if you think the us open crowd is the worst, try the crowd of Rolland Garros. Trust me, I'm French and I really disgusted by the attitude of some of my compatriots sometimes.
Serena couldn't help being patronizing towards Naomi by saying its her first grand slam ... Sore loser. Being a real champion requires more, like what Naomi displayed.
The fact that Naomi Osaka had to apologize for winning is really sad the crowd was really rude by booing her they ruined the biggest moment of her career, she deserved the win, shame on them.
This was so sad. I could see how conflicted she was poor baby. She is a champion!!! And she deserved that title! Congratulations Osaka! You earned it fair and square!!!
For a minute I thought you meant Serena. I was about to reply "Rubbish, she should be caged when angry!" Naomi is a nothing short of a gem - off and on the court. Hope we see her win more Slams in front of better more respectful crowds.
No that umpire needs to be caged. Serena has every right to be angry. The crowd was angry with the umpire not Osaka. She's innocent in all of this as Serena pointed out.
Flora, that's the attitude you can't have. Just because you're angry and because Serena is angry, Osaka ends up being caught in the crossfire. Even if you don't mean it, Naomi is the one suffering the most and that's what people have to understand: you made a 20 year old champion cry on the podium because you felt it was more important to boo the umpire than cheer for her.
This crowd SUCKED! How could you boo such an amazing and strong tennis player?! I get that many wanted Serena to win, but this is just rude and unnecessary!
Even after Serena lost, the US Open still made it about her. Come on, this was Naomi's moment... I hope she wins again and get the applause and adulation she deserves.
Sorry, but Naomi has dual citizenship ( America and Japan) and she has spent most of her life in America, so she is American too. Its amazing how uninformed people are

Anthony Hogan News flash. Whatever racism Naomi faced in her country, is her country's problem. It does not excuse how we mistreat our guests. What you are saying is that it would have been ok that Serena (or someone else) to be insulted in a French Open because the French can always say, Serena has to face racism in US anyway. I hear this kind of shits all the time. Like, well Muslims have it worse in Syria, so we can mistreat them here in US anyway. Really?
Cam G. I don't know if it is Japan proud or Haiti. All I know is that as an American is that it is not a pride moment for American. How can our audience act like this? We seriously need to ask ourselves how can we honestly acted like this.

Noami..im sorry..im sorry for the shameful booing coming from the crowd..its YOUR moment! You have achieved full honor for your achievement and made your dream a reality..not many of us are fortunate enough of such a feat..well done!👍👍👍
Naomi Osaka is one the most humble athletes I have EVER worked with, and I wanted to see her raise the trophy with the cutest (and at times, dorky) smile that she always shows during press conferences and postgame speeches. To be able to play in THAT atmosphere under that amount of pressure at just 20 years old is unbelievable. She is a true fighter and winner. Congratulations, Naomi!!🎾🏆
The winner deserves it! the score is loud and clear...this young woman did an amazing win over Serena and Serena knows that! Congratulation Naomi and to Japan!
Your absolutely right. I've no doubt had she not said that, that they wouldve booed her as she got the trophy. Disgusting crowd. Almost as disgusting as Serena was.
This is the most heartbreaking moment I've seen across any sport, in multiple ways. I honestly just cannot stand hearing the crowd boo Naomi's life dream. Speechless in the worst way.
As an Australian, I cannot understand why a crowd would boo their own citizens? Its mind boggling & seeing this I can fully understand why she doesnt want to undertake media interviews. God bless her.
She apologized for winning..the crowed and announcers were so disrespectful. What a shame to steal her glory she worked so hard for. She was a fierce competitor! Well earned!!
Japanese are always so humble! In last football WC after Japanese team's loss, their players & Japanese fans together cleaned up the stadium & left a thank you note in thechange room for the official cleaning people!

And the snobbish, elitist mob lost their minds, and booed and took out their hate on the outsider, and on those who conspired to "cheat" Serena out of a win that She DESERVED!! Sound familiar?

Naomi says She’s been having a depression since 2018. This trauma made her depressed as a beginning. She’s very pure, kind, also very sensitive. I hope I can see her smiling in a tournament again.
Coderoid I’m even a fan of Serena’s, and I was on her side until she said “you owe me an apology”. That was not okay, and I felt for that umpire. But everyone is human, and even Serena can let her emotions get the best of her. I just wish it wasn’t at the expense of Osaka ):
Japanese manners till the end. Apologising for something that was never her fault. Very humble. Wish her many more Grand Slam wins. Great sportsmanship!!
I live in Japan. Japanese people are singing her praises right now and talking about how proud they are of her and that she is Japanese. But I know for a fact that if she wasn’t so successful she’d be just another foreigner to them. Even if she lived in Japan her whole life and only spoke Japanese, at most she’d be considered “half”, or just a foreigner to many. I love Japan, but they are very protective of their idea of what a Japanese person is, and just as hypocritical as any other nation.
The fact that Naomi Osaka had to apologize for winning is really disturbing and not moving forward with the sport, the crowd was really rude by booing her, they ruined the biggest moment of her career, she deserved the win, shame on them. Pro Tennis Matches will never be the same...thanks to ms williams an american in the making
Her face the whole time, Naomi was having a breakdown and that too when she won. No one can imagine being in her place, keeping herself so calm. The crowd made her feel that she did not deserve it and was she feeling guilty for it. We truly do not deserve Naomi.
Seriously my heart almost stopped when she thanked Serena for playing with her, looking at her eyes and bowed to her. Naomi's heart is too big for this unworthy people. Naomi is the synonym of Honour and Integrity.
“Perhaps it's not the finish we were looking for today, but Serena, you are a champion of all champions.” This comment was the worst. Serena's tantrum and the booing of the audience were childish and rude but I understand that they wanted to win so badly, but I really can't believe that US Open President and Chairwoman Katrina Adams actually said the awful comment in front of Osaka at the awards ceremony.
Serena knew she was a strong opponent and did all she could to take the victory away from her. Once again making it all about herself. Serena William's is a disgraceful athlete.
Imagine being 20 and winning your first Grand Slam against your idol, and the crowd seems to hate you for it. I can totally see how that would damage someone, especially world-class athletes who are already having to deal with the high levels of pressure their sport demands.

rocknroller1999 if you see injustice, you need to inquire. Sure, this woman played an excellent game, so no take away from her, but games can be rigged by officials.
Tesia Payne Seriously? I get Serena saw injustice. She felt she was being cheated. But her coach was coaching her. That is a violation of the rules. He said as much. She then broke her racquet. That is a violation of the rules. Then she berated the dude, calling him a liar, cheat, thief and that is a violation of the rules. I think he was too harsh but he was within the rules to do so and it was fair then.Serena was never in control of the match. Naomi was the stronger player from start to finish. Serena was uncomfortable being matched and it drove her to emotion and she cracked and the crowd blinded by love for her booed the consequences of her actions even though they were her fault. They didn't care that they were shitting on a person who won fair and square and encouraging a poor looser. Hence the booing during the trophy ceremony. The crowd was classless and clueless.
Lets say the umpire did make an error, like players make errors every game, it's human nature. You take the issue up after the game, not make a total disgrace of yourself with a global audience, setting a disgusting despicable example of disrespect and violence for young eyes watching. :43 seconds.. the tear rolling down her face as she hides her face from the boos. Heartbreaking and stolen moment from a lifelong dream.
"I'm sorry it had to end like this."
Bro, my heart broke when she said that.
It was there I shredded my last hope for humanity. Everyone, everywhere should praise young athletes when they take on and defeat established champions. It gives you hope in the future of that sport you love so much. Especially, doing it at such a young age, and after playing fewer of these slams.
easily the worst tennis crowd i have ever seen
i know one country that is worse
Yes and Serena agitated the crowd by her entitled rant at the referee. She knew she was going to loose and needed an excuse. It's all about her. Her superstar status is too big. Nothing to do with racism or sexism.
How can someone not fall in love with this sweet super-player Naomi Osaka? She was always discrete, quiet, feminine and also scared of her first appearance at this level. As Naomi said, "everybody was cheering for Serena..." When Naomi speaks, her words are kind, innocent and naïve. My UTMOST respect to you NAOMI for being so sweet and for being such a magnificent player ! We want to continue watching you breaking records all over the world, Sweetie!

It’s really confusing for a young person to even understand what’s going on in events like this, especially when dealing with a mental illness
She’s so respectful, her parents raised a great champion.

Sunil...If she meant Serena, what would you have done, keyboard warrior? LMAO
This crowd SUCKED! How could you boo such an amazing and strong tennis player?! I get that many wanted Serena to win, but this is just rude and unnecessary!

She didn’t have to apologize for anything. She won, and that’s that.
rocknroller1999 if you see injustice, you need to inquire.
You think Federer would carry on like this. You think he and his fans would be proud of this loss of emotional control during a global exhibition?

Wow. Great country 🇺🇲, glad our people from japan are treated so well there.
Naomi, what a beatufil human Being!!!
Bless you Naomi
You are a true diamant!!!
It was heartbreaking seeing her shield her face with her visor from the booing crowd
Even Osaka knows what the chair umpire Ramos did was based on retaliation to Serena
@@ajj6162 piss off troll

THIS IS AMERICA
US Open winner's speech: "I'm Sorry".
Just like Nadal at the 2009 Australian
русские в комментах) я удивлен, что у нее вообще хватило сил и выдержки что-то сказать после подобного поведения Серены. Наоми вполне могла демонстративно покинуть церемонию и ей бы слова дурного не сказали.
So sad
Made me want to cry, she shouldn't have to apologize for winning
Yeah man I was like, "She's sorry? What is she? Canadian?"
Osaka so sensitive and getting/being emotional, a warm heart: Delicate/Champion.
To this day, this stands as one of the darkest moments of American sportsmanship.
Yes… or total & utter lack of it ~
Andrew Mair so glad Naomi won this years open!
J0sh_u_a ~ Ditto! 👍😁
And serena's reaction is just the opposite. The nicest respectfull act of sportsmanship I've ever saw. The sisters where always a bit my rolemodels for sportmanship. We can see why here. Congrats serena!
are we actually surprised by their behaviour
One player apologized even if she won the game, while the other player demanded apology even if she violated the rule. One player expressed her gratitude even when all the crowd were booing, while the other player put the blame on others even when she herself was to blame. One player kept focussing on the game, while the other player showed her back and resorted to the politics. How come these two players are so different?
Kenichi Tanaka upbringing....good values.
I seen the complete opposite both ladies showed class
One knows the meaning of 'sportsmanship'..the other doesn't. Maturity.
Serena is just like Rasputia. Always blaming others for her own fault.

because one comes from Japanese/Haitian family and the other was raised in Compton USA
Imagine apologizing for winning. Unbelievable.
She just accomplished her dream, which was no small dream. . . . And Serena and the crowd crapped all over it. What a shame.
