    I’m watching this after your very sick trackball controller video and I think it’s cool that for both of these projects you acknowledge that it’s a weird idea that probably isn’t being done for a reason, but you go for it anyway. I think thats such a great mindset for creatives. It leads to some really cool stuff.

    Your projects are very unique. I haven't seen anything like them on this platform. I would love a series that dive deeper into the steps of this project. Especially around designing the model around the scans of both the ear and the earbuds internal. Mould design are also very interesting too. You seem very experienced in this. Steps that seem boring to you can be very valuable for people who hadn't do anything like this before.

    • @ChazzyLP

      Yep, I cover a lot of ground on each project and I’m still figuring out how deep to go on any given topic. I don’t want these to turn into 2 hour+ situations so, unfortunately, I have to gloss over some of the details in the single video format. The episodal format I tried on the VR headset build let me dig deeper on topics but didn’t seem to catch on viewership wise. Down the road I might do a second channel that is more step by step instructional content but for now it's early days for me and I’m figuring out my channel structure as I go.
      Thanks for the paise and constructive feedback though! Super helpful for me in figuring out which direction to take things.

      @@ChazzyLP I have a suggestion, if I may? Split it up into a series? Each episode focusing on a different aspect of the process. That way you can get detailed in each video but the whole video won't be a few hours long and people will be able to fit it into their lives better that way. Then you could also do an "overview" video that sort of just explains it all in broad strokes for everyone else who's not interested in the minutiae

    • @louen8413

      @@ChazzyLP It's a lot more work for you, so you would have to decide if it's worth the effort, however, from the viewer's point of view, having both formats available (a summary video and then a series of more detailed videos) sounds great, in the sense that it would cover the preference of absolutely everyone that might be interested in stuff like this. You could perhaps pilot the idea in a future project and see what the response is like! Congrats on your channel and videos by the way, hadn't seen anything so impressive in a long time! :) If it's not intruding too much, I'm curious, what is your background?

    Really well-documented process and an excellent idea. One question that came to me after reading the comments... why is the big copper ring not the hinge for the enclosure? (think hubless wheel).

      Thanks! The cover was originally designed to slide out on spring loaded linear guide rails. After a bunch of testing I found it to be too fragile so I switched to the pin pivot as a quick & easy hack fix.
      Agreed that pivoting around the ring would have been way cooler!
      I’m also still on Rhino7, all the part & mold making was done in Dendro Voxels. Looking forward to exploring the new Rhino8 features in the new year though!

    You should fill up some of that dead space with BIG batteries, if the electronics can take them without being confused or anything like that. having more charge time is always good! (this would be possible for the buds, but MUCH easier for the charging case, which is what I meant!)

    Beautiful and cool!
    But... Copper is a fairly active metal and over time, contact with air and skin secretions will oxidize and these oxidation products will stain hands and contacting tissues, as well as the appearance will not be so presentable.
    I see a couple of ways out of this situation:
    1. Coating exposed areas of copper with something like a transparent varnish.
    2. Use secondary electroplating with more resistant metals. With silver, it is relatively simple to nickel or chrome plating, they are much more wear-resistant to a heap, and with a color similar to copper... At first glance, nothing comes, except gold.
    -----------------

    • @SianaGearz

      I think it's not going to have any effect, because there's no metallised structure on the inner side and the extent where it wraps around is less than 29mm, which is the bluetooth quarter wave. So this metallised structure should effectively be invisible to BT.

    • @kschleic9053

      @@SianaGearz would it not still impact the directional performance of the antenna? I am not an RF engineer, I don't have much antenna experience at this small scale.

    • @SianaGearz

      @@kschleic9053 I think there might be a little bit of a reflection for the direction that goes up and away and no attenuation or reflection in other directions, the wave basically has the opportunity to wrap around the structure since it's narrow enough.
      But i'm also not an RF engineer in particular, just a computer engineer, so i can't be super certain, it's just my feeling. I do have some second hand experience with colleagues placing metal on the keepout area in quite unfortunate ways though, so i have seen structures that cause connectivity issues, and this build doesn't fill me with dread.
