Mines is a 2024 has 14k miles and this happened. They claim it’s a back order but it’s not. It’s a strike, was told by an employee they know this issue is happening with all the newer models. They just want the money.

Dealers should be obligated to pay the customer a fair amount DAILY for every day their vehicle sits in their compound unrepaired.
" LOANER " vehicle does not solve the "problem".

Last new GM PRODUCT I bought was 2008 fully loaded Avalanche… left me and my child on the side of the road more than 10 times… reduced engine power light…. Dealership could never figure it out… 47 thousand in 08… now I buy clean used cheap vehicles, and drive them until the engine or transmission dies… and I can work on them for the most part…

Would not be surprised if they put the wrong fluid in your transmission. My son has a 2018 that the manufacturer put wrong fluid in at the factory, he has had problems with shifting mainly down shifting. Transmission shops told him about the mistake that Gm had made. Any truck that comes in they change out the fluid.

The "parts unavailable" routine is designed to wear the customer down until they give up.
    TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE !
Sad thing is that the part will be the same as the part that failed. Dealer WILL NOT install aftermarket parts that might solve the problem.

Wait till your motor goes bad. They put what they call windows in the block. Which is basically lighting up the motor weight, in their quest to make more power to weight. but it make so the journals flex and eats up the bearings. There no fix for but new motor. We need to back to the basic. Not trying to get so much horsepower out these things.

My 2023 GMC 2500 Duramax did this towing my 12,000 trailer home from a trip. Running perfect, then was accelerating from stop light and around 45mph on about the 6th gear shift it didn't shift right and jerked, went into limp mode. I pulled over, shut it off, tried again and same. Limped to a Loves truck stop and pushed the onstar button and waited a few hours for it be towed. Left me stranded. Towed it to dealer and have family member with a truck rescue me and trailer.
Dealer is back logged with, you guessed it transmission issues. 1 1/2 weeks later, they pull it in and diagnose it. Said it is a common problem and there is 3 waiting on same issue in front of me. Said they had been waiting a month. Very discouraging, I'm truckless for the rest of the year it seems. Dealer said he was ordering valve body and complete transmission. Whichever they send, they will install. To my surprise a day later the dealer calls and said GM overnight a NEW version of the valve body and they was going to install it. The dealer has no idea how I got lucky as there's 3 others that have been waiting over a month, but the part they received is for MY truck, they ship them for specific jobs. He said the others have a been getting new transmissions.
I think GM just now has come up with a fixed valve body and are starting to ship them. I think the replacement complete transmission likely have the defective valve bodies in them, so might be going thru this again. Dealer said it's late 2022 to current 2024 models affected.
I'm back in business for now, and reasonable time, although I was told to be ready to wait for months.

I went through something similar with my 2021 GMC 1500 with the 3.0L duramax. My truck spent over 9 weeks at the dealership waiting on parts (Heating/Cooling manifold Circuit solenoid) was on national Back Order. I had to Rent a Vehicle to go on a family vacation that was planned months prior. It wasn't till i went on vacation and had to rent a vehicle last minute because the dealership loaner wasn't allowed to leave the state that i called GM Customer Care to start a case. GM Customer service said don't worry enjoy your vacation we will take care of you. After vacation and sent them the bill for the rental they said the best they could do was only pay a 1/3 of the price of what the rental bill cost me. Told them that would be the last GM product I would ever buy again and canceled the Yukon XL that I was about to purchase for my wife. Side note I've owned GM vehicles all my life and felt completely disgusted with the customer car. This was the First new Vehicle I have ever bought brand new and it will most likely be the last because of how they handled it.

Its not just a GM thing, Ram has had issues with the 68RFE(valve body) and the AISIN(snap ring) trans in some current models, parts were back ordered etc. Its hard, but be patient. The number of people having continuous issues is very small compared to the number of vehicles sold. Some have said that there is a new part number to address this issue...so 2023 and 2024 trucks should have that part.

Even as ford had built their own transmissions for years as by Y2K they and GM collaborated on a line of ten speed automatics. With GM on the heels of a class action lawsuit regarding AFM/DFM when a lineup of vehicles having the ten speed automatic is being recalled for a failure in the valve body as a second lawsuit is in the works.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. There are no easy solutions here. It seems like the part you need is on backorder, leaving your dealer as helpless as you feel. Make sure there is a special order in your name. It is never a good idea for a dealer to take parts off a vehicle in inventory. They most likely will not get paid to R&I the parts. The dealer would also be paying monthly to floor plan an unsellable truck. Transmissions do fail after fluid changes. I never go past 50K miles for that reason. Remember, pulling your RV is severe service. Lastly, GM might reimburse you for some of your expenses, but it will be an uphill battle. Be patient, follow up often, and good luck. Thank you for the update. My GM dealer in Canada has told me they have 4 GMC waiting for the same part as your truck. The funny side is the service manager of the dealership is one of the 4 trucks waiting for the valve body. He told me the parts distribution centre in Canada keeps providing false delivery promises. Other dealers that have the part will not sell to any other dealers. Can you imagine between Canada and U.S.A. how many of these trucks are waiting. I have a 2020 gmc sierra 2500 with 72k miles and I have an appointment this Monday I’m a little bit worry about flushing and changing the transmission filter and fluid i don’t know if should I do it or not I’m a little bit scary now…

    • @jsd2799
      @jsd2799 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

It's rarely ever a good idea to "flush" the transmission. The better thing to do is to drain the fluid and refill...but not flush. Flushing is the mechanic using a machine to force fluid through your transmission. Doing this can break debris loose and then it can get stuck inside the valve body of the transmission internals. The only time you should flush a transmission is if it isn't working properly and the flush is a hail mary to see if it will work fix it. Otherwise, drain and fill only.

The dealer has had my 2023 2500HD for 60 days now. I have had their "loaner" and put over 5,000 miles on that presently. They gave me a "comparable" loaner for my 2500....a 2024 Malibu. Yes, a Malibu. I've read that Allison sold in 2020 also that the new 10 speed is just and 8 speed with a 10 speed valve body and it's killing them. Watching your vid is like watching exactly what I am experiencing.

So about two months ago, my truck started shifting down. I have a 2023 2500 Denali with the Cummins and the bulletproof Alice and I thought ….not so much.
I took the check in. They checked it. It was the valve body they reset. It said it be fine to drive. I told them it says not to the service manager said it was electrical not mechanical so you’ll be fine. I drove it for about 50 more miles it did it again. I took it back to them And got a repair order started. It already ordered my part but there wasn’t a repair order so I get a rental car so then I started looking for rental cars they give you $44 a day to find a car that doesn’t include taxes or fees the cheapest truck I could find to rent here in Montrose. I believe Avis is $198 a day which is pretty ridiculous. I tried to run it for two months because that’s what I heard I would be down on that 150 really won’t do what I wanna do anyway then I found Trucks at Barco rentals in Salt Lake City but I don’t have commercial insurance. I have a business but I’ve never had a commercial vehicle. I haven’t needed it so I called the insurance companies and it was gonna cost me $6000 because you have to pay for a year upfront $500 a month , so I’m gonna work because if they have this done three months that’s a waste at this point I don’t know if they will have it done two or three months but whatever so I found a couple of trucks for with companies that I had worked for in the past, but one of them was my father‘s comp back in 1963, so his name is still on it, which makes my name still on it and they frowned that even though I could be driving a truck today They said that the name of the company reflected mine. They didn’t know if it was on the up and up what should they care they’re only putting out $1320 a month doesn’t matter where you find the vehicle. At this point, I talked to Issac , GENERAL MOTORS today and told him that we need to have a class action lawsuit and square up and I’ll put my name on the side of the building instead of GENERAL MOTORS and at least I’ll take care of my customers ridiculous to have a truck that this expensive and you get no help Other than that Turner automotive here Montrose their service manager explained to me that I didn’t buy the truck through them so I wouldn’t be getting any help from Ross Turner. I told him I’ve known Ross for years so I think I might and he said no he I’m related to him. I found out he’s his brother-in-law. I knew he got the job someway somehow other than being a good service manager, he doesn’t understand That being a service manager doesn’t just mean that you fix vehicles that means you take care of the customer too, so he should be out of there.

I also drive my truck like you described watching the rpm’s and taking it easy during hard pulls. Sorry to hear of your problems with gm. I have 2 vehicles with Allison transmission, thankfully no problems. It seems all these manufacturers are listening to the share holders instead of there customers. The bottom line is they are useing low bid manufacturers for there parts. There should be plenty of these transmissions in the salvage yards from accidents, they could retrieve one and get the parts they need to get you on the road . Unfortunately it seems the customers come last. There are lemon laws if need be ! Just my thoughts. Good luck with with everything. Safe travels.

Since I wasn’t getting the help that was needed, I sent an email to Mary Barra, CEO of GM. 2 days later I received a phone call from a VP and explained the issue. Just over 2 weeks later, GM bought the truck back. All payments, interest and down payment was reimbursed. Hopefully you guys have your truck repaired by now. If not, shoot Mrs. Barra an email. Words of advice, find a transmission shop, have them change the fluid and filter as soon as you can (regardless of the miles you put on it thus far). Have them cut the filter open to look for metal flakes. IF there is any metal in the filter, take the filter and drive the truck to the nearest GM dealer and have it documented by them. Show them the metal in the filter, have them document it in their system, this way when (not if) your "new transmission" takes a dive, you have something to stand on as far as it being just another piece of junk. Chances are the "new transmission" was a remanufactured one, one that failed and was returned to the factory for repair. No warranty on a new transmission??? Seriously? I'd be changing that fluid every 25K like clockwork. And yes, get a heavy duty transmission cooler installed. Make sure they wire the fan to run anytime the motor is running. This will help extend the life of the transmission tenfold.

Sorry to hear what you’re going through and hope you get resolve soon. My guess is that these transmissions are creating metal and clutch lining debris from day one which comes out of suspension when shut down and sticks to the pan or any other surfaces that it can sit on. Then when they service it with new oil with a fresh detergent package it releases the debris that was safely lying perhaps in the valve body between the lands. That debris should never get there if the oil is properly filtered by the pickup screen. I think that’s the connection of having these units serviced and shortly after having a failure. These transmissions are tuned at the factory for smooth soft shifts “because people don’t want positive hard shifts”, thus there is slippage of those clutches at every single shift “to make it feel gentle”. The trade off is slippage causes wear and debris buildup as result. Imo better filtration and more positive clutch lockups would prevent most if not all of these issues. Hopefully you’ll be back on the road soon!

I use it for my business also and I going to be forced to buy another truck soon. They got me into a rental which is a car. GM only covers $44 a day, anything more you have to pay out of pocket. Truck rentals are $95 a day and my truck has been in the shop for 47 days so far. That's $2397 so far plus I'm still paying my month payment which isn't cheap ($2500) plus insurance. Sorry to hear that for you guys. I’m not sure if I caught why you had to service it in Colorado? Just doing a fluid and filter change? We just leased 2024 Silverado ZR2. Leased because I heard a few things but wanted a lower payment. Just passed 6k miles and we have the 6 duramax towing our trailer. No issues so far. Thanks for the video and I hope you get back on the road soon.

Thank you - we bought the truck in Colorado and took it to the dealership who has serviced it from the beginning to have routine service done.

Class action lawsuits are actually a good thing for the manufacturer. I'm a Ford guy and they had some as everyone knows. It ends up making a better product, forces them to.

I owned 2021 GMC Denali 3500 DRW that caused me so much head aches. First time California smog in July 19, 2023- failed due to Exhaust gas sensor not ready with current mileage 28393. Took to dealer several times to fix the issue. Even the GM field engineer got involved for almost a month still not fix. Then the dealer after several attempts to fix the problem told me to take my truck back because it’s no longer under warranty. My biggest mistake is not getting a lawyer right away, instead I called the GM corporate office to complain. Once I contacted the GMC corporate personnel, lemon law attorney that I talked to don’t want to represent me anymore because they told me that I now doing the legal work. After back and forth communication with GM, this last March 2024 we settled the case. They repurchased my truck and paid me 15k less for what I paid for. Now driving 2024 Ford F-450 SD Limited.

I definitely see your point on your truck. And I see understand how you feel I’d be saying the same dam thing if this was me in this situation. But understand insurance and some of those trucks with damage may be on loan from GM and owned still by the factory and unfortunately until a settlement is made between all parties on those you can’t touch or alter those in any way !
Unfortunately they have you over a barrel with a belt at this point and that hurts with ever strike! Or minute that goes by you don’t have a truck to do what your heart desires. Legally your in a holding pattern there also and can’t do anything till there is or is not an outcome of some sort. All I can say is be as patient as you can and I’ll be praying for a good outcome

Was a gm trans tech since 1980! Gm has always had valve body problems especially in the early 700 r 4…the Allison was always the top heavy duty for buses, I use to install them in army vehicles.. they never had a problem! I feel your pain but it’s not easy to pull a unit off the line… I bought a 2024 corvette drove it 300 miles and windshield got busted! 2 months and still no glass! They say because of that computer hack! Any way good luck wish I was there to help I could fix it! Stay strong and keep calling them tell them you want a zone rep. Good luck

@@TheRiverstoneLife I Filed a Formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau last Friday, Got a response from the BBB and from GMs Executive office within the same day, and they fixed my truck Wednesday! I just picked it up, So far so good! I would recommend to anyone that they should go through the BBB. The dealer said they located a valve body, and even told me that they located another Valve body in Texas but would cost 3x the amount, so obviously there are parts available. So in total I waited 4 months and three days.

Knock on wood I haven't had a problem in 15,000 miles on my '24, one of my buddies had the valve body go out on his '24 Ultimate very early and his dealer put a whole trans in it, they couldn't get the valve body but a whole tans was possible!!?? Crazy, I hope you get this taken care of.

My valve body (cylinder #1went out in my 23' with 30k miles on it. Sat in dealership for 44 days. Dealership didn't give me a rental or anything. They called and said it was fixed. I went and picked it up at 5:30 pm. Drove it 30 miles and it broke down AGAIN! Cylinder #2 in valve body this time. In shop again. This dealership gave me a loaner. GM trying to give me 30,000 GM points. I told them that's just hush money. So I've been without my truck for almost 2.5 months now. I'm beyond disgusted.

Had a 2008 Cadillac DTS. Engine and trans started leaking last year like a sieve. Dealer said the seals dried up due to age. Replaced same. Continued to leak and then they said they couldn't get parts to repair new leaks because parts no longer made for the Northstar engine. I agree with you. If you have a GM vehicle of any, kind you better sell. Unfortunately all the other manufacturers are in the same boat. Normally the car manufacturers don't need help screwing things up, but this time I blame the EPA and government legislators. Maybe the Chinese can buy the U.S. car industry to make real cars again.

I took my 2021 GMC 3500 to the dealer for transmission fluid change at 60,000 miles because I pull heavy. The technician told me I needed to change the transmission fluid so I said no problem on the way home the transmission overheated and shut me down. I called the technician and was told after the transmission temperature went down I was told to drive the truck home. The temperature didn’t rise again. I hooked up the camper and pulled about 50 miles the transmission got to hot and I was shut down again. I finally talked to the guy that sold me the truck, I told him I didn’t think enough fluid was put back in the transmission. He talked to the owner and told me to come back the next day and ask for his boss. They installed a new filter and new transmission fluid and 15,000 miles later the truck runs great. Once transmission fluid gets to hot it’s no good.
I had a Silverado 3500 2020 that GM had to buy back

Thing is the dealer knew there was an issue with the valve body in these trucks and never said anything. It’s been a problem or know problem since 2022
