Got a 24 3500 AT4 and the transmission has been messing up with issues since 10K miles on, now at 13 with the transmission completely useless now. The dealership told me drive it till either got worse or I couldn't stand anymore. Well it decided to loose drive and reverse randomly. The dealership told me 6 months waiting for parts so they are holding on their lot with the other 15 trucks with same issue. Since it is warranty they will give you a loaner, but of course the loaner is something small. Sounds like lemon law will be used and order something else.
William I purchased a 2017 Ram 3500 with the 68 RFE transmission in it and done dealer maintance until warrenty lasped , then did a full delete, added extra fuel filter, new intake with upgraded grid heater, catch can, air bags, this truck run rv's for the first 90,000.00 miles Ive had zero problems it now has 160,000 on and runs fine check out new rams there awsome, great content as always keep safe out there!
This is what you get when they get more and more complicated, PROBLEMS!! My dad wouldn't even want power windows because it was another thing to go wrong! With the stuff they make today, something is going to be breaking or freaking out all the time!
That is something to think about. There are getting way more vehicles out there with drivers who are irresponsible and easily poke with their feelings then act aggressively towards other drivers. Would I stop driving? No way Jose, but will have full coverage insurance just in case.
Hi William. I had a 2017 GM 2500 with a 6.0 gas with a 6L90 and our transmission went out at 54000 miles. So it’s not just the 10 speed transmission’s that are failing. I have always wanted to try a diesel truck and after researching our old truck for transmission issues we also saw stories of the 10 speeds having issues. We left the GM brand and have purchased a 2024 Ram 3500 diesel HO w/Asian transmission. Love the truck so far
I had a 2016 2500 6l90 that went out at 55k, I then purchased my 23' Sierra 2500 and had issues with the 10spd before 10k. I think this will be my last GM truck unfortunately.
Make sure to stay current on your oil changes and use the type of oil they call for with the RAM, Cummins went with hydraulic lifters 2019+ and they will fail if you let your oil changes go too long, or use the wrong oil.
Welcome to the intelligent truck owners. I have a 2024 1500 Limited. I was involved in an accident and while my truck was in the shop they gave me one of those piece of junk GMC Sierras as a loaner. Such a downgrade. I can't believe a vehicle that was purchased with navigation, actually has to have a subscription for navigation. So many other substandard features.
I have a 2016 and am so glad I have a real Allison transmission. What I read is the current "Allison" is a GM transmission made to Allison specs, but obviously it's not these failures speak for themselves. Allison whore'ed out their good name it's a shame.
Keep up the videos and keep GM's feet to the fire. Unacceptable that they continue to produce the faulty transmission. Mine had the bellhousing leak before 10k and had to be removed for the reseal already. What's crazy is guys with 24's and 25's still have that same leak.
Problems, 2017 Chevy 1500 oil has been changed every 4000 miles all services complete. Truck only has 111,500 miles. I just installed a new Engine and 750 miles later a new Transmission! Over 15,000! Chevy I will never buy one of your P. O. S. TRUCKS EVER! PLEASE NOTE: I have never owned anything but a chevy truck. Loyal customer since 1979,Chevy would not help with any of the costs, said I was on my own. Let me mention one more thing the truck was in for service when the dealer themselves threw the rod the next morning after bringing it in. All BS! FK,,, you chevy!
You are better off buying a Prius and just getting hotels. Buying a new rv and truck is just not worth it. It’s a 50/50 gamble if it’s gonna fail or be good. Do you know how many hotels and gas you can get with 150K-200K?
Just purchased a 2025 Chevy LTZ 2500 drove home from dealership found a puddle of transmission fluid on my garage floor called dealership returned truck to them been there for 2weeks service department is terrible and I even provided them with the TSB bulletin from GM that describes my leak ! This TSB was issued in 2020 and obviously still not resolved and the dealership doesn’t give a crap at all ! What a joke truck only has 200 miles on it and haven’t even used it !
The GM trucks are starting to build up at the dealerships because people are afraid of the "Allison" transmission problems. They need to put a STOP BUILD on the Trucks until they fix the problems. There are a ton of used 2024's for sale too because people have unloaded these headaches.
I got a 2015 3500 with the 7 speed. Transmission is great but i just lost my egr cooler bypass valve according to codes. Going in the shop tomorrow. Another driver is delivering the unit today for me. We split settlement on miles we drove.
Man ive been looking at the gmc but with trans and engine problems with the ,dropping the cylinders the way they do nowadays. Ive always been a chevy guy. But now im looking at the ford with the 5.0 .idk
Love your channel. Been following you guys and got into rv transport 4 months ago. Me and my bf both got GMCs. His truck started having issues two months ago. Got it fixed then more issues. Then it was fine. But bam now mine is in the shop. We were headed back up to Indian to get a load as team drivers in his truck then it goes into reduced power. So we made the decision to just head home and got a job back into trucking. Don’t get me wrong I loved rv transport but we just kept getting hit with issues and it felt like we couldn’t get out of the hole. We’re now trying to catch up on bills so we had to make the decision for another job. We can’t make money if the trucks keep going down. Now my truck is stuck in Texas and I live in Florida. Not really sure what I’m going to do 😩 but all this to say that your videos are really inspiring so keep it up. I think one day we could be back to rv transport but it’s just not in the cards right now. Like your shirt says. We’re getting back up. Our story isn’t over YET!
Yeah sorry to hear about your transmission, but I was thinking about buying the ZR2 6.2 L Chevy truck and I was doing some research on the Chevy trucks and what I found out was the 6.2 L and the 5.3 L have transmission problems and lifter problems so now I thinking what I’m gonna to do is just go Ford I didn’t want to, but I’m going have too what do you think??
Believe me, no better at Ford. My 24 F450 has had endless transmission and emissions issues. I haul horse trailer with living quarters. Might find a 1999 F350 with a six speed manual to replace this junk ford.
Heck I bought a 2024 GMC 1500 and have never seen a transmission act like this. Your trying to slowly creep into a spot and the trans cuts out then lurches forward like you stomped on the gas all the while your foot is on the brake. No its not the stop start that is turned off.
I’ve had this same issue with the 2023 5.3l high country 1500. 80k for a truck that has had issues. Also having issues with the adaptive ride control. DO NOT GET TRUCKS WITH ADAPTIVE RIDE CONTROL. I’ll be 1,000 into feature deletes just to make the truck run and ride better.
This is why I still have a 2004 GMC 2500 HD Duramax with the 5 spd Allison ,it has been an excellent vehicle , I pull a race trailer all around the country , 160,000 mi , I have a friend that has the same truck with 210, 000 mi original engine and trans
@ well all the information I’ve got so far they’re not supposed to flush it. They’re just supposed to drain it and change the filter. But I’ve heard other shops do this. Do you haul lotta weight and if so, how often?
@ I pull my camper. The dealership told me that I needed a flush because I pull heavy. I found out later that I could have waited until I had 100,000 miles. Some one wanted to make money off me
@ yeah well the dealership that I went to told me not to service mine till I had 100,000 miles and then one day I was driving down the road and I got a notice on my phone saying that it needed to be serviced and I was at 75,000 miles. I took it in. They drained the fluid in the filter and I drove out of there. Reduce power came on turned into a 6 1/2 week nightmare I’ve talked to people that do theirs every 30,000 miles and some of them have not had any problems at all. I’ve talked to people that have waited till it had 100,000 miles take it in and the exact same thing happens to them that happened to me so believe it or not I think you did the right thing changing it early. I just don’t know about the flush if you ask 100 professional mechanics that work on these things all the time 98 of them will tell you never to flush it. The other two will tell you to flush it so I’m not sure if anybody knows what the hell they’re talking about. Lol. Some of us get lucky and some of us don’t I never knew there was that many problems with this truck transmissions until I put my first video out and that was like six months ago and every day somebody emails me and tells me about their truck having the same problem, it’s a valve body and the few professionals that I talk to you said that they would not machine correctly and that’s what’s causing it and I told him it’s probably because it was built by the cheapest person and you know what you get when you don’t pay for somethingyou get screwed over. I’m glad yours is still going and I hope lots of people never have this problem but I know thousands of people that have and it sucks but I appreciate you watching the video and I appreciate your commenting that you have a blessed day.
Before I Bought My 2001 Chevrolet Silverado New I Asked an Allison Dealer About the transmission And He Said That G.M. Made There own Allison Transmissions
Might have to get a Toyota to move your RV if in a pinch. Had a Buick loaner with one of those camera mirror would not give a dime for that option at night the headlights glared aweful had to shut it off. Always owned GM trucks just half tons my 14 Silverado crew 4x4 is my very last
I have a 2024 gmc Denali ultimate 2500 hd with max tow. 24,000 miles. It’s starting to hard shift already. Dealership had it for a month for DEF module failure. Then 5 months later EGR put me in limp mode. Dealership had it a week to get parts. Rv camera and trailer tpms system work when they want to. other weird stuff with wireless car play and infotainment system. I can’t wait for the transmission to go out! My oh my!
The pickups need important critical transmission maintenence due to the multi speed 6-10 speed clutch type torque converters. 1) with my back ground as a mechanic and vehicle manufacturering: #1) Change the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve to an after market valve, I used sure/ super cool. 2) Install a good quality after market external cooler such as a Mishimoto. 3) change the transmission fluid and filter/flush every 45-50,000 miles, is a good quality Trans. Fluid such as Amsoil.
Love the diets 1500 Denali ultimate but am now concerned about purchasing after seeing this video... I would not be towing with it just enjoying it. Does the towing cause the issues?
Couple of haters in the comments. Thanks for making the vids and shining the light on GM’s EXTREME failures as of late. Just got my 2023 back after 2 months waiting for valve body. To the haters…good luck and make sure you come back to these comments and correct them if/when it happens to you. It is not a good experience. I’ve been a die hard GM fanboy since 1995…strongly reconsidering my stance.
I wonder if these truck transmissions were broken in properly? You are supposed to drive it in normal conditions for a few hundred miles before you start towing anything. Could that be the issue aside from everything else?
Many years ago ,I owned a garage , and did mostly GM. Transmissions, I would do approximately 10 to one Fords and Chrysler, I always owned fords, so I bought a new Oldsmobile , 3 transmissions went out under 60000 miles and numerous other problems, I told my wife if you hear me say GM or mention any thing about buying a another GM vehicle , kick me really hard
Gonna be same transmission for several years to come . They did increase valve body warranty to 150,000 miles or 15 years only for p0747 code. Not bad for a transmission designed to last 50,000 miles
Hey, Will. From one RV channel to another thanks for covering this. Interesting because I just came across your video and yesterday received a recall letter from GM about the valve body, but no fix yet, lol. They send a recall letter with no available fix yet. I've been a Duramax guy since 2002, buy a new one every April so I've literally had every generation of the Duramax. I'm seriously considering giving Ram a try come spring.
Is this the Ford/Gm collaboration trans? GM used to have their owns trans. Is 10 speeds necessary? Government mandates causing problems for consumers/end-users?
I have a 2023 GMC crew cab dually that I use for hotshot. I also have a 2006 GMC Crew cab long bed single wheel that is my back up hotshot truck. I have never had any of these problems. I am meticulous about my maintenance. I wonder if that is the reason for no problems. And I pull a 44' Diamond C gooseneck that is usually loaded to capacity.
Dang dude, ya know there are other optIons. Allison does make a direct replacement. I believe ZR does too. I'd check 8 speed options. They don't hunt for gears like 10 speeds do.
2013, 16, 19, 20, 22, 2(23), RAM Long Horn, trade in @ 34,000 miles saving extended warranty 3k, tires 2k, other service, trade tax 5k...and other getting another new up dated truck all new everything. New 3year/36k coverage. Got 75k trade on 22ram and 18 off the 23ram, paid the difference. Payoff now, benefit later. My son got his Ultimate gmc D, Diesel.
I was looking for your videos enjoying the channel guys and thanks for the info your putting out 😁☺️ Robin on the hood 2025 🎉🎉🎉 lets make RV transport great again 😁😁
We had a 24 3500 Gasser that started shifting hard at around 54,000. Chevy dealer in Ohio pulled the pan and found filings. Ordered a transmission that took 7 weeks to arrive. Dealer claimed the “new” valve body in the transmission is “revised”. They did put a 3 year / 150K warranty on the new transmission. My personal 24 3500 Gasser with 23,000 is having the Next Gen body upgrade kit installed this week.
I have a 2020 with 60000 just had it reprogrammed for the recall, I have 0 problems the recall notice did say they would warranty the tranny for 15 years or 150000 miles for this problem
It sad that GM problems started from Ceo Mary Barra failure customers, to transmission, brakes system, engine, many other things. Gm Ceo Mary Barra salary $29 million and sold gm shares made $84 million dollars, GM revenue 2023 $171 billion dollars and revenue 2024 $161 billion dollars very sad you can't get hold anybody GM to listen problems vehicles it should not happen.
My 2021 2500 with low miles has been in the shop more than any other vehicle I have owned. A/C compressor, trans leak, batteries.coolant tank, def tank, nox, and now maybe the doc is bad waiting to hear! Think I’m done with GM!!!!
There are absolutely NO recall notices for MY24 HD trucks for issues related to the issue assocoated with the MY20-MY23 trucks. Have there been recalls on MY24, yes, but absolutely nothing for the transmission issue as with the pre-refresh trucks. If an occasional guy is having a problem with a MY24 or MY25 HD truck, it is luck of the draw until it happens to more than a population of one. There isn't a Ford or Ram that I would consider because their problems seem even bigger, just watch all the videos. I had a MY21 3500 HD and loved that teuck with zero issues. I even had a Pulsar V3 on it, ran it at all power settings, and it ran and shifted perfectly. GMC lover here even with the inconvenience of a few recalls.
Not the same tranny on the heavy duty line up. The 1/2 tons share the same transmission or some components as Chevy and FORD did a share some design features. There’s a video of a transmission tech that takes apart both the ford and Allison branded transmission. Ford has much more stout components.
@@CS-rb9jk and thousands of them that are not working that’s why the videos are out there. If you watched all the videos read all the comments and meet all the people like I have then you would understand this is not me bitching about my truck. This is about me stopping other people for making the same mistake and maybe forcing General Motors to do something about it. It’s an ongoing problem. They know it and they’ve done nothing about it. If it happened to you, you’d understand.
GM or RAM is a a complete engine replacement! I will stick with Ford!! Better to replace the timing components, rather then an entire engine!!!! I know several GM and RAM owners who have already had their engines replaced!! Some are multiple times!!!!
@@Cumminspower365 it’s not about crying about it. Is that what you got from the video it’s about letting other people know so they don’t make the same mistake.
@@TheRiverstoneLifeI think the point the poster is making is valid. Back in the 1990's I decided to tote RV's for a couple of years instead of running my Kenworth big truck. My 1993 Dodge Ram went through 3 Getrag transmissions in under 120k miles. I replaced it with a "New Venture" transmission from Oklahoma City and never had another problem. I finally sold that old truck in 2022 with 680,000 miles showing on the dash. He's just saying that you have options to replace the transmission with one that's sturdy. Then you can enjoy your GMC and drive it without problems. Good luck. I'd actually like to see a video of you chatting with other toters about known problems with Ram and Ford trucks. I want to buy my next truck with confidence. Thanks again 👍

Hoping gmc fixes the transmission issus , not purchasing a 2500 Denali until they do .
Well I got a ford f350 diesel and I’m pretty happy with it but sorry about your troubles good luck
Had a 21 that had issues.
Blew the engine at 4,000miles.
Traded it for a 2017 Denali HD with a true 6 Speed allison and hacent been happier.
If only you could get it with a manual transmission...
Well, they say 500. I put 1500 on it before I started hauling anything
I don't see why anyone would buy a automatic transmission on a heavy duty truck.
🤷
They cancelled all manual transmissions!
I have a 2024 ram transmission went out around 7000 miles
You would think anyone with this problem would be protected under the Lemon Law.
I know what to do about it. DON'T BUY THERE JUNK.
Has any1 with gas 10spd had problems ?
I just bought a 2025. 2500HD Gas.No problems yet but only 600 miles on it
We had a 24 3500 Gasser that started shifting hard at around 54,000.
They should have never left Allison.
GM Quality At It's Finest 😂
I have the "sister" trans in my Ford... handles 500hp no issues so far! Maybe in 24 they fixed them?
Not the same tranny on the heavy duty line up. The 1/2 tons share the same transmission or some components as Chevy and FORD did a share some design features. There’s a video of a transmission tech that takes apart both the ford and Allison branded transmission. Ford has much more stout components.
Ford transmission has several parts upgraded. I think Randys transmission has a video where they tear both apart and compare.

@@rickkeller105 wouldn't surprise me, but it still stinks that GM's are failing like this!
@erod6214 and still a cp4. Been there done that. No way
Sounds like you should just get another truck and move on.
Thousands being used with lots of working miles on them.
Im in the market for a new 3500hd srw my last truck was 2018 duramax i think im going 2025 ram this round
Was set to pick up a 25 2500 on Friday I think I’m going to cancel and do the same
GM or RAM is a a complete engine replacement! I will stick with Ford!! Better to replace the timing components, rather then an entire engine!!!! I know several GM and RAM owners who have already had their engines replaced!! Some are multiple times!!!!
I WAS looking to trade to a 3500 chevy not anymore.
Give me a F150 300 auto air crank windows 8 feet bed I am happy!
GM MUST OWN ALLISON TURNED ANOTHER COMPANY TO 💩at the tax payer expense! And this dooshbag calls it nice😂😂😂😂
Lol tbh ill buy a new 2025 trd peo 4runner before any gmc 1500
Toyota is not what they were before. All of these vehicles have issues now. Just pick your poison
th-cam.com/video/zHW6c3k7Q-I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OUcvcmudN2FYFkmZ does this apply to your truck?
Why keep crying about it put your hand in your pocket and get a real Alison put into it or get rid of it and get something better
This is what I'll be doing when mine goes. I only got 19k miles on it now
