You didn’t seem impressed with the metal sign Atlanta got. So let me tell you about this graphic. This is Rosie the riveter! During WWII most of the men in working age were fighting the war in Germany and Europe. The women in our country worked in the factories making the military airplanes you admire and basically keeping our country alive and going. Rosie the riveter is a way of honoring those women and telling women in the 1940’s you can do anything! She’s a war Hero!

Without all of the women, more of the world would be speaking German as a nation language. Rosie represents those women and their spirit.

Atlanta, the poster of the lady with the muscle is "Rosie the Riveter". It's an iconic image from WWll when the men went off to war and the women had to put away their aprons and go to work in factories and shipyards producing munitions and other war supplies. This was a motivational poster akin to the UK's "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster for WWll.

    • @RubyGB
      @RubyGB ปีที่แล้ว

The "Rosies" also built tanks, airplanes, jeeps, and other armor that used the munitions they built and, although long overdue, they received the Congressional Gold Medal. BTW - Did you know the late Queen Elizabeth II, then known as Second Subaltern Elizabeth Windsor (eventually promoted to Lieutenant) jointed the British military, donned a pair of coveralls, and trained as a mechanic and military truck driver? The queen was the only female member of the royal family to have entered the armed forces.

**Mayonnaise Recipe ** like Duke's and Blue Plate...
In a blender put 1 egg yolk at room temperature, 1/2 teaspoon (tsp) salt and 4 teaspoons white vinegar. Blend until frothy (about 1 minute) then with blender on lowest speed slowly drizzle in 1 cup of Extra Light Olive Oil so that it emulsifies (thickens). Then add 1 Tablespoon (Tbl) lemon juice. Keep refrigerated.
**Miracle Whip** type Mayo/Salad Dressing Recipe (my favorite- more flavor)...
In blender place 1 whole egg and 1 egg white, 3 Tbl powdered sugar (or Splenda), 2 Tbl + 1 tsp white vinegar, 1/4 tsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp dry ground mustard powder, 1/8 to 1/4 tsp paprika and a dash of cayenne. Blend on high until frothy (about 1 minute). Then with blender on lowest speed drizzle in 1 cup of Extra Light Olive Oil until it emulsifies.
I've been making my own for years because of the toxic junk they put in store bought foods these days.

The stars represent the three geographically and legally distinct Grand Divisions of Tennessee (i.e. East, Middle, and West Tennessee). The blue circle around the stars represents the unity of those grand divisions. The blue bar at the edge of the flag was just a design consideration. When asked about the blue bar, Reeves stated "The final blue bar relieves the sameness of the crimson field and prevents the flag from showing too much crimson when hanging limp."

Just so your aware New Zealand Family that Smoked Salmon in the box because its smoked its already fully cooked, so it doesn't need to be refrigerated. Those boxes come on normal shelves that aren't refrigerated. I was very surprised someone was able to mail that out to you because I tried sending the same item to you all in my box, you haven't gotten to yet, but my local Post Office forced me to remove the Smoked Salmon box in order for me to be able to ship it out to you. If you do end of trying the boxed Smoked Salmon I would highly recommend putting small slices into a salad or making it the same way you would make a tuna sandwich, mix it in a bowl with mayo, pickle relish, and maybe a boiled egg and make a sandwich out of it, its amazing. But just be aware it should be fully safe to open and eat because it was smoked thoroughly and then sealed in a air tight package, so there should be noting to worry about it. It would take decades for smoked items to go bad and spoil. Hope you enjoy it if you try it and I hope to see you guys get to my care package box I sent before last Christmas here soon from Ridgefield WA.

The reasoning for that is they didn't change that on their profile until the beginning of this year and all the care packages they are going through currently are from last year. Today's packages was from October-December 2022. They haven't even gotten to my care package box I mailed out last 21st December 2022 and Yes I sent them a bunch of different snacks and treats unique to the Pacific Northwest or because they had been asking for it in their other videos way back when. But everything I sent them doesn't really spoil and was extremely well packaged and sealed.@@jeffhampton2767

As a couple others have said, $2 bills are basically never seen. When people come across them, which these days is never, they tend to hoard them. As a kid in the 80s, I think I had 1 or 2 in my desk drawer, and never spent them, because even back then you never saw them. It's funny, the rareness probably made a lot of people stick them in a desk drawer, making them even more rare :) I've run into friends and family members throughout my life who have 1 or 2 squirreled away somewhere.

@@jeffhampton2767Yeah, but I don't care enough to make a special trip :) It's just super rare to run into them in real life, so when I would end up with them, I wouldn't want to spend it. I haven't seen one in probably 2 decades. I'm sure I have one somewhere around here, though.

It was just a tiny corner store and the owner was so sweet and said he'd hold them for me until my next paycheck, so I got them all back. I also collect 50¢ pieces and dollar coins because you hardly ever see them.

Starting as my original charity project idea in Junior year which I turned into a competition of what grades (7th-12th) could donate the most specific items that I asked for in posters I placed around the school campus and pamphlets I had printed by the hundreds that were bundled and hand delivered to all the teachers who i turn would hand them out to each of their students/class in every designated (7th-12th) grade at my K-12 private college prep school, in which tye fold out pamphlets detailed the cause, mission, items needed, and the reward for winning the competition. (I had to have it approved by the head and assistant director of whom I was a teacher's pet, plus her son had just graduated and joined the army, so she was definitely on board; her family owned a couple of chains of Culver's restaurants which are ß and founded in Wisconsin and have delicious everything fresh, made to order butterburgers, fries, yummy salads, other sandwiches, and the freshest, smoothest, tickest, most delicious custard ice cream with different fresh custard concoctions in the form of "Flavors or the Day" (which were different mixes and concoctions every day for a month with only very sparse repeats of popular flavor combinations, or items to put on to customize your flavor of custard, which was a wide variety since Wisconsin is known as "America's Dairyland." So an ice cream party and jeans week was for the winner...we weren't allowed to wear jeans unless they granted a special occasion which then the next year tuned into every Friday...and one jeans pass for anyone who brought in 3 of the needed items or $3 or was it $5, which then we'd use at the dollar store to get items that weren't being donated enough/were low in our inventory. After the competition was done after a little over one week, we organized and sorted all the different items and made sure that things were properly packaged and any liquids/gels, etc like toiletries were put in heavy-duty plastic gallon Ziploc bags and then double bagged in trash bags, as well as taping caps or lids and making sure everything was screwed on tight enough. I wound up shipping 350+ pounds of toiletries and other items over there which my parents and another friend of mine who sort squeezed in on my project which I would normally NEVER let slide but she was a hard worker, smart, and got sh*t done, plus I was life alteringly sick at just age 15( a year earlier) so the help was appreciated, and her parents and mine split the $500+ shipping fee for those 300+ pound boxes.
group/squadron and small individual boxes overseas to the FOB and other smaller places in Iraq and Afghanistan for the soldiers as I was a part of my own original drive at school asking for all various materials, including 15-20 backpacks filled items for the Iraqi children like coloring books, crayons, markers, notebooks of paper, etc. You were never allowed to send food items unless you were family through this large organization called Soldier's Angels. (They had different divisions of people doing boxes of needed items/goods, quilting for ladies who made blankets and other comfy, cozy things, writing letters to a group or individuals via letter and possibly email if they responded back with it...all these things were requested by commanding officers/superiors, friends of soldiers, or soldiers themselves who would need a pick me up or were feeling down and lonely...same thing for the card division where I'd also handmade (I like to scrapbook), detailed, very elaborate and time-consuming cards with always personalized messages pertaining to what the issues were that were written as to why they needed some encouragement or joy again due to loneliness, in hospital with sickness or injury, not receiving any mail at mail call which is depressing and guys want to make sure every one, especially younger military members that might not have family or support; birthdays;significant holidays; etc and would send those out in packs...and also started trading holiday cards with other ladies to send in groups to various soldiers or units of them who would write in and sign up or request for letter, card, care packages via this site. It was amazing when I did some individual care boxes...many people like myself would decorate and go all out making the inside of the box look pretty and according to theme like a football one or holiday seasons or just general...how under provided for and understocked the base stores were to get basic toiletry (for female soldiers things like feminine items, hair products and hair elastics, etc, and healthy, non-ration disgusting MRS "meals" as far as snack items, especially if they weren't at a major operating base and in smaller FOB outposts, or the fact that those smaller outposts would not only be sold out but quite a few soldiers had duties and schedule that didn't allow them time to get items during the timeframe the canteens were open! I got a nice types thank you letter from an Army Sergeant Major, which is the highest ranking for an Army or Marine who is an enlisted officer.

The little house books were written by Laura Ingalls wilder. She traveled a lot during her entire life mostly through the Midwest nearly to California but went to Florida to a bit but moved back. She did not stay in one place for more than a year due to her father trying to find work but finally settled down in the Midwest starting a quiet farm with husband Almazo wilder. Honestly she had a rough childhood always moving year after year never really settling down. The books are a window into the life of a pioneer family which we still don’t fully understand as this was the time of the great migration west. It also shows the first real train which transformed the west into an attainable goal. Little farmer boy is the only exception as it follows Almazo wilder’s early years in Malone, New York which is north of New York City. It’s a real place and it really hasn’t changed much since Almazo’s time as it has the exact same economy and same town. Ok the cars and modern farm equipment are there but if you imagine it the entire thing is just the same as the past relying heavily on agriculture. Malone is a big corn producer in New York State and hasn’t been taken over by the mega corporations. They operate on the same thing that they always did hard work and patience.

I've read that someone had tried to use one somewhere and the employee thought it was a fake bill and spoke with the supervisor or manager and they thought the same! Pretty sad!!

Need to check the date of the fish you got- It is shelf stable for 5 years. Once opened the smoked salmon should be refrigerated and can be kept for 4 days. -

Sorghum is actually a type of grain similar to corn but smaller. It’s actually a type of sugar plant and sugar is made from it. It’s sweeter than standard sugar so use sparingly. The sugar plants we tend to use are corn, beets, sugarcane, and sorghum. Molasses is actually known as black treacle everywhere else in the world. It’s the first refinement in the process of sugar production and it has a bit of water in it. Dark brown sugar is the next step after most of the water boils out. But there are a few different sugar types before dark brown sugar which America doesn’t use but they exist. Also pure sugarcane juice is actually on the rise in popularity and it’s quite easy to find. Unfortunately not easy to get because you need a specific machine to crush the sugarcane and juice it at the same time. Sugarcane is hard and requires real muscle to get it out.

That book you were gifted, "A Higher Call", tells the story of a USAAF B-17 during WWII that has taken great damage and is limping home when a German fighter flies up to shoot it down, but the pilot decides to escort the bomber to safety Instead. It would have been so easy to down the big airplane as it could barely keep itself aloft, but chivalry wasn't yet dead.
Be careful with the American money in the last box. Check the dates on the bills and coins. They may have been sent due to their ages and are out of circulation, being sent from historical interest, as many people collect old coins and bills. In other words, they may no longer be legal tender in the USA.
The State Quarters came out, one state per month over fifty months, with everyone trying to stock up on their local state coins as souvenirs. My brother went to the bank and bought a roll of West Virginia quarters, unused, for ten dollars. I live in Oregon and just got mine as change given back. Neither way is incorrect.
