My friend from Australia did the same thing when I took her to a grocery store. It was the smaller of the two of the chain in town too. I’m like down to business and she’s like “wait wait wait… This is massive!!!” Then I learned that grocery stores are much smaller in Australia and they didn’t have the selection that we do here. It was fun seeing her experience it all.
I’m from New Zealand too and idk why these people were so incredibly shocked lol. Yeah the place is bigger than the supermarkets here, but we have things like cut up fruit, ice cream, bread/cake etc. which these people were freaking out over for some reason.
My mom worked for Walmart for 30 years, so as a kid who practically grew up in walmart, i never knew how much we had compared to the rest of the world as far as choice and options. This gave me a new appreciation for the simple things
These are not simple things. They are monstrously huge things. Food is the #1 thing that is lacking in nearly every country in the world except the US. When I was in the US Navy, I visited a island called Crete in the Mediterranean sea. It was one of the poorest locations I've ever seen. People huddled in t loosely fabricated tents made of old rags, sown together to make a wall for 4×8 ft tents in freezing winter temperatures. Nothing to burn for heat because goats had eaten all the trees on the island.
Yall must not remember when walmarts were market stores and not super markets. I'm talking about when the produce was still outside. If you don't remember that, then you don't know what I mean
Your videos are amazing! Everyone is so invested and on board! I love the way your children give their feedback. They are so articulate and participate eagerly! Great job🎉
Same, except none of the Walmarts in my state carry hard liquor. You have to go to a liquor store or you go to a big store that sells only alcohol and they will carry hard liquor plus stuff in Walmart, grocery and convenience stores like wine, beer and hard lemonades.
I am from the UK and love watching TH-cam and the channels I mainly watch are based in the US so I know lots about the country - the food, the places and the cultures etc. so when I eventually go (if ever) I will be so happy because I'd be like 'I've seen this before, on TH-cam' to nearly everything and then tell the people I'm with, facts about them.
@rugr82day ypu must be in Texas, because I was shocked by liquor in Walmart, too. I had to Google it to make sure I wasn't crazy but apparently Texas is the only state that doesn't sell alcohol in grocery stores OR gas stations. I never would have thought to buy liquor in a gas station 😂
I love how fascinated you guys are with the things we Americans take for granted every day. It really gives some perspective and makes me appreciate the small things more.
A Kiwi here. I visited a Walmart Superstore for the first time about three weeks ago and my reaction was very similar. I felt overwhelmed by the size of the store, the range of choices and the large packaging sizes of products available. I had a great time wandering about the store, practically everything under one roof.
You are the sweetest family. Hope you stay awhile and have the opportunity to really see our country and enjoy your visit to America. God bless you and have a great time.❤❤🇱🇷🇱🇷
This just tells you that they sell whatever junk to the citizens.. remember it's all artificial crap foods that other places don't sell because it's not legal 😂
Word of caution on the maple syrup: the large plastic bottles are almost always high fructose corn syrup with caramel coloring. The actual (and relatively healthier) maple syrup is often either a smaller glass bottle or non-transparent bottle, often sourced from our northeast states or Canada. Best to read the ingredients to check. And yes, there's a taste difference, too.
The only decent syrup is the Log Cabin, no high fructose corn syrup. Actual maple syrup is delicious & better for you since it's naturally sweet with a few minerals. Mom told while she was on her honeymoon in '72, they stopped at a farmers market type place some state in New England, they were selling gallon size jugs for 6.00. In today's money is about 44.00. There was a lawsuit filed against food manufacturers from maple syrup producers for using "maple" on their labels since there wasn't any maple syrup in it. They relabeled it as syrup or pancake syrup. Last year, I lucked out at Walmart finding on their clearance shelf quarts of maple syrup for 5.00 each. Sadly, I only bought 2. 🙁
Walmart is getting their best commercial ever and they almost didn’t let it happen. I want to go out to my local Walmart now and buy stuff just because of this family’s joy at seeing everything we take for granted.
Well to an extent I can understand where they should not be filming in certain areas of the store. Only place frowned was at the register filming. One place to hit the list to not be filming for various reasons. Other then that saw nothing wrong.
It's a pretty standard policy to restrict or prevent filming or photography at most retail establishments. I'm glad the store manager was reasonable about it, though - it's good advertising, good publicity, and good public outreach.
This reminded me of the story about Boris Yeltsin visiting a grocery store in the US in 1989. He was shocked at the choices and quantities and was, at first, certain that it was just a setup to impress him. He later wrote: "When I saw those shelves crammed with hundreds, thousands of cans, cartons and goods of every possible sort, for the first time I felt quite frankly sick with despair for the Soviet people," Yeltsin wrote. "That such a potentially super-rich country as ours has been brought to a state of such poverty! It is terrible to think of it."
How many individuals in the US have ever heard this story? There was near panic with the US Secret Service and President Yeltsin's security team. He did not think it was a setup. He picked the store at random. His statement was more of a jest; how could this be? The store he visited was a Randell's supermarket. Which by today's standards was small.
@@softballm1991 The Soviet mind always went first to deception. The first thought was "this is a trick". There are numerous sources that state Yeltsin thought it was a setup (which don't necessarily mean it's correct). What source refutes it?
Thank you for sharing. I remember learning about that in 11th grade AP US history class. Sad to think, though, that our people have become so spoiled (myself included) that we don't appreciate our many blessings. Instead we dread the line, or the crowd, or the walking around, or whatever the excuse is. Personally, I still enjoy going to WalMart way too much. I have to check myself so I don't leave with the whole store.
I spent $230 at a WalMart this evening, and it felt like a chore going from department to department, getting everything on my list. Thank you to you and your family, for reminding me how rare and amazing it is that we have a place that we can go to to get everything we need (except liquor - in my state of Virginia, you can't get that at WalMart at all)!
At all? Not even beer or wine? Well every state is different. Here in Ohio with the exception of the few dry counties. We have a liquor/beer/wine isle. One side is beer the other is wine and anything 40 proof or below. So diluted Vodka, gin and Rum. Tequila rose etc. anything above 40 proof you have to go to a state liquor store to get.
You should not be praising Walmart they put a lot of businesses out of business. Every time they open up another store all the other stores go out of business

It's probably been mentioned already. Certain items being locked just depends on the neighborhood or area the store is in. And each state has their own laws on where and when alcohol is sold. Enjoy watching your videos and hope you guys had a great time in the US!
@@donaldbowden2271 the locked-up items depend on the store and what's stolen the most in that store. I'm in NJ, so my store doesn't have guns or alcohol. But guns are always locked up for obvious reasons.
Thanks for the reminder that the “chore”’to us that is shopping at Walmart is actually a luxury. You have a beautiful family. To the people that replied: CLEARLY I didn’t mean that their items are luxurious. I literally used the word to mean that we have the option of shopping at stores that have numerous types or brands of one particular item. MOST places in the world have very FEW options in their stores and the number of stores offering said items is VERY limited. Americans are spoiled because we are accustomed to having numerous options about where to shop, the quality we desire, and the items we desire. My comment literally had nothing to do with the quality of Walmart’s products. Walmart was created so that EVERYONE had affordable access to all different kinds of products and foods. It made it affordable for middle and lower class Americans to have giant tv’s, slightly better clothes than the old discount chains, a greater food selection and more.

Also, filming makes their competitions job a lot easier when they want to track price changes. Obviously online makes it easier too, not sure if everything Walmart sells is posted online, but I personally know competitors that have gone to Walmart just so they can match prices on product..ie they go into a walmart, write down all the prices, and then the next day they lower their own prices and run an ad showing that their prices are cheaper than Walmart's.

I don't know if this is simple. Don't think I've ever stepped foot in a Wal-Mart and thought that. But I know what you mean.

“Eggs in a bottle?!?!!!”

Read Ingredients!! It's a learning process.. don't trust what they say on the label. On anything
And the REAL maple syrup will be the most expensive.
It never feels like “real” maple syrup to me, if it doesn’t come in the square shaped “oil can”
@saureco I know it was a typo but you had me cracking up at “male syrup”. 😂

Try online order grocery pickup, if it is available.

I try to stay away from Walmart but the way prices are on food, it’s becoming harder to find excuses to not shop there since they are cheaper than other grocery stores in my area
F Wal-Mart
F virtue signaling @@saintevil6084
I mean they’re a shitty company no doubt but shopping for groceries there saves me thousands a year. I could shop at Kroger but they actually pay less for starting wages and the prices are usually 30%-40% higher. So where’s all that extra cash going?
Denzel's eyes as he entered the candy aisle. 😵💫
Im living vicariously through your travels and family growth! You are blessed. Thank you
And can we just take a moment to acknowledge just how well behaved and unspoiled Atlanta and Denzel are?
Yes, American kids and parents need to take notes!!!
Easy when you’re amazing parents vs Americans who throw iPads at their kids and let them do anything.
@@country_boy_zone6b😭😭
When I was growing up, my mother would give us the talk before going into any store. That was enough to ensure we behaved. I don’t know what the hell happened to parenting because every single time I go to Walmart or Target, there are children running around screaming and being annoying. This wouldn’t have happened in the ‘80s.
Oh please. How many times in the video do you hear one of them say "I'm getting"? They're just regular kids playing airplane under carts and running around having a good time.
Your reactions to everything had me smiling and laughing throughout the video. Always a joy to watch you all, hope you all enjoyed your time here!
the excitement of the boy in the ice cream aisle. get em all!! that was wonderful
I'm an American but I live in Africa. Every time I go back to the U.S. my reaction to Walmart is very similar to yours!
Yeah, I lived in South America for four years. When I came back to the US I had decision-paralysis from being overwhelmed by choices. The beverage isle especially. It made me uncomfortable.
Its humbling to see our Country through your eyes. It makes me appreciate it more.
Now we're waiting on the " Surprise. We are moving to America!!! " ❤ you guys are awesome !
Nah new zealand is probably safer and the ppl are better there .don't move here.ppl are toxic
If they moved to America they wouldnt be that NZ family any more 😅
As a Kiwi who lived in the US for work, there’s nothing nice about most of this food... it’s overly sugary and processed. This family is fascinated because it’s different from what they’re used to, and they’re astute (their viewers are largely American and provide their TH-cam income).
Unfortunately, they really didn't come to "America". They came to California which is more like Mexico in many ways in much of the state.
We have so much stuff in this country, we don’t even stop to think and appreciate once in a while
The problem is, so much of it is saturated with harmful and obesity causing ingredients.
Just seen your family's video and I wanted to thank you for visiting the United states and hope you come visit us here again sometime soon. You're always welcome.
I’m glad that the Walmart manager let them continue filming 😊.
Ya those employees just don't want to deal with people and all people complaining about people filming, americans are lame sometimes
@@jordancrosno9711 Well, some people don't want to be filmed while they are shopping. I can understand. Europe is pretty much the same about filming in a store.
@@jaycee330 If you don't want to be filmed then don't go in public. BTW, I doubt the policy has anything to do with what customers want. Walmart doesn't want filming because it could open them up to lawsuit if any improprieties are caught on film.
@@ricj7517agreed if the content is about the people, but if you just are caught in passing with no attention drawn, just as if you are out in public it shouldn’t be a problem.
@@ricj7517 there's no expectation of privacy while in public. In fact, Walmart has cameras all over the place filming you while you are in the store.
Good to see you all having fun. It's kind of insane how big walmart is when you see it from someone elses point of veiw.
I always thought abnormally large.
There's something so wholesome about watching y'all get so excited over Walmart lol, loving it
This warms my heart to see folks genuinely enjoy going to Walmart. They are really amazed. I love it 😆
It’s amazing to me when people come to the United States and seem to get overwhelmed by the variety of choices we have in most stores. I get overwhelmed myself and I am born and raised here, so I get it. Thank y’all for being great visitors to our country.
Yeaaaa honestly I don’t like going to Walmart if it involves needing a basket 😭
That’s because alot of our food is banned globally because of the processed ingredients in alot of the foods
My friend came here from England and needed toothpaste. He stood there for a good while before I figured out he was “overwhelmed by the choices in dentifrice” 🤷♀️
@@shalonsmith3653you’d probably be surprised at how much imported American food we have in New Zealand. We have whole stores dedicated to just American stuff
went to buy Band-Aids. there were 27 different kinds.
“We need a cart immediately.” 😂 she got the Shopping frenzies immediately. I love me some Walmart supercenter. I get it.🇺🇸
She barely made it INTO the produce section before wanting to get a cart.
Rule #1 of Walmart. Grab a cart, even if you don't think you will need one.
I worked for Walmart for 23 years. Yes they're huge and carry everything😂😂. Glad you guys enjoyed the experience!!
thanks so much for sharing your family experience with us!
You guys crack me up.😂😂😂 I’ve never seen so much excitement in a wal mart before.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My ex wife is Dutch. She had the same reaction going into Wal-Mart! Taking her into a Kroger grocery store she was flabbergasted over an entire row of nothing but pickles. "I can't believe there is an entire row of nothing but pickles" she kept saying! LOL🐢✌
They really don’t have different flavors of ice cream in New Zealand? Or pickles in Denmark?
Sorry, the Netherlands
Got my Danes n my Dutch mixed up. Apologies.
I've never heard the word, 'Wow,' as often as i did during this video. Your family is an absolute joy!
That are from a country with sheep, cheese and rolling green hills - with a population of NYC 😂
Was thinking the same. 😊 ❤
I love your families reaction to our everyday maddness 😂 i especially love the family surprise and shock of all the sizes, flavors, and just over all “what is that?” 😂 makes me feel like as an american we have created some culinary monsters
Love seeing Walmart thru your eyes. We American take a lot for granted, we're so spoiled and don't know it nor appreciate what we have. I've lived in several countries and immersed myself in culture but always counted down the days until I could return to the States.
As a Cajun from south Louisiana, hearing you call the porkskins “cracklins” made my day
I know 😂😂😂😂
I’m in south Louisiana too, and I thought the same thing 😊
I’m Hispanic, so they’re Chicharrones to me. 😊
Representing the 985 here in SoLa. I appreciated the cracklins comment as well.
Normally I can’t stand going to Walmart but you made that fun….and made me appreciate all the options we have in the United States.
Thank you for your videos. It is so enjoyable watching the closeness of your family. 😊❤
Growing up as a kid in Arkansas (Walmart country) in the 1970s, this is hilarious. Back then the greatest thing about a no-frills Walmart aside from the size and selection (much less than nowadays) was the price and the astonishing fact that it was open until 9 pm! It was still open after people got off work and could go shopping, what a genius strategy.
I have worked at Walmart for several years. It was neat to see your reaction to things that I pass every night at work. It was cool to see how what I see as normal can be so unique to someone else. Definitely appreciated the video.
Thanks for sharing this. As a 50+ yr old in rural America, I had the same reaction when they first came in my area too
Watching you guys experience Walmart for the first time really makes me realize how lucky we Americans are to have some much…and how much we take for granted every day. Thanks for visiting the USA. I love all your TH-cam videos.
I'm not gonna lie. I've been watching you guys for years. It really feels good to see you guys here. The intro from the dad and Atlanta and her mom at the entrance looking around and just all of it is wonderful to see after all this time. 🎉
