Portal speedrunners were just trying to skip a small portion of a cutscene, but they ended up finding an invincibility glitch in the process. How exactly does that happen?

This video is not an actual speedrun world record, nor a speedrun tutorial. This video is a showcase of a speedrun strategy that goes in-depth to the various tricks, glitches and bugs that make the strategy possible. - เกม

Chad Portal 2 speedrunners discover invincibility, run is so optimised it only saves 10 seconds. Incredible
I'm actually not hugely surprised. You don't encounter turrets that often and turrets have relatively huge grace periods before they activate, so by going fast you can do quite a lot in front of them even without invincibility. And the liquid pools are generally functionally "bottomless pits" so being able to swim in them benefits little since they rarely have a way out of them.
There are many reasons I like speedruns. One of that reason is discovering something accidentally.
In the years after Chell's escape, she's seen getting hit by a car and gets up with no injuries.
Accident witness: Holy crap are you okay! How did you survive that?!
Chell: I used a clipboard a while back, looks like it hasn't worn off yet.

The (not Valve) Metroid Dread invincibility glitch also involved doors. It's so weird how invincibility often has to do with door transitions

@@intensellylit4100 i would assume it’s the one in the original half life. Where the collision damage from a certain door was negative. So you would crush yourself until you had several thousand health

Turrets fire very low velocity bullets
Goo has been pH balanced

It’s not, airboats are banned in least portals%
Least Portals is just normal portal 2 but you try to use to least amount of portals as possible. In vanilla p2, airboats aren't even usable.

should've probably mentioned about players glitching trough the hatch somehow. Also didnt mention that pause abuse is not allowed in challenge mode
Markel was the first one to show me the chute clip back in 2015 or 2016 with a demo. It happened when I originally started playing Wakeup in challenge mode after seeing Isolitic streaming it. I lost the demo, go figure.
That was great when Per0culos paused in disbelief, then immediately mentioned Betsruner being correct. Great show of character and humility.

At this point in time, and with as many insane glitches as we have now, I would really love to see a few non-speedrun glitched playthroughs of portal one and two. Just showing them off and goofing around with the absolutely *silly* things we can do.

Speedrunning history is always fascinating. The depth runners go into saving seconds, discovering new mechanics, and accidentally discovering others is amazing.
This man seriously deserves at least 1 million...

It gets even crazier when you are messing with cheat codes to find bugs. I'll give an example of one I accidentally found: there's a entity dupe glitch you can do in the advance wars game "dark conflict" on the nds, you essentially run a code that lets the player take another turn, but if you put a unit on a ship during your turn, then run the code, your unit is cloned somehow.

The reason Players get dragged but not physics props is because the use a different physics system. The physics system of props, Vphysics (internally the Havok physics engine) is not the same as the engine controlling NPCs and the player, which are controlled by something called QPhysics, which is the physics system inherited from GoldSrc, which inherited it from Quake which it is based on (thats why is called QPhysics - Q for Quake). QPhysics “glues” the player to the platform so they move along with it, as you can see on any moving platform in the game - however this also applied to animations.

i like it how swimming is implemented at all, despite the lack of any nonlethal fluids it would ever have an excuse to be in the physics engine for.
it's just a carryover from HL2, which had swimming capability for obvious reasons
that just sounds like ;god with extra steps
