Gates of Hell has a very bright future ahead; with a new DLC around the corner, the DLC after that providing a whole new faction as well as a confirmation that the Devs are going to be busy for months and months to come which is great. However, what will this next faction be, what does the new teaser tell us? Why are they looking for voice actors in a language they haven't needed before yet? I really hope we get the Brits and Italy as the next big faction DLCs. North Africa front is very under-represented in WW2 games. And then after these, we can get more minor powers, such as France, Poland, Netherlands, Romania and Hungary...
North Africa theatre + UK would be fire - as much as I wish we could factions like the Netherlands, I would be very surprised if that happened. Lots of nations that are more likely
Canada...
Japan and the pacific would be noise. Or imagine China? About nothing is done about the chinese front in ww2 games. Or like the philippines or burma or guadcanal...

personally I hope they do a China vs Japan DLC one day, the japanese invasion of china is underrepresented imo, the burma campaign aswell
I hope they‘ll focus more on Infantry in that DLC, as both Japanese and Chinese armor wasn‘t really full fletched or simply isn‘t too interesting. I also hope they won‘t add some absurd Japanese prototype tank in order to fill the gaps of underwhelming Japanese tank production, adding some single export tank Japan got would also be goofy. China will just get a few lend lease tanks from all over the world probably.

What would be hype is a burma campaign with britain vs japan, jugle combat with armour movements being restricted would go insanely hard.
Oh man that would be really cool; with the same marsh style stuff we saw in MoW Vietnam way back where going too far off road etc might get you in trouble too - however we'd need 2 new factions and a whole new terrain/environment. I sadly think that's something for way down the line

my opinion is the DLC may not be specifically related to the US airborne but since this year is the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the DLC could be centered on D-Day and the Normandy campaign which would include battles like Carentan.
this is also a very good point, I wasn't 100% but I like the airborne take, as there is already a D-Day mission, granted they could indeed focus more on it as it's the 80 year anniversary
I hope it’s Italy, Hungary, or Romania. I liked that they did Finland in the past, was so fun to play with a nation that is never shown in ww2 games and would love for them to continue with that in the future.
Shocker... WW2 game adds Normandy DLC revolving around Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, and the 101st Airborne. The only parts of WW2, as we all know
They added Finland before the Liberation DLC, I don't think the devs are trying to only do known stuff
One theatre that has never been covered in video games is the East African campaign. Would love to see that theatre, with early Italian, British and Commonwealth units from South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, naturally progressing into a larger DLC for North Africa, which I hope will come at some stage. Wishful thinking, I know!
i mean CoD 2 has a North Africa campaign, although it was lackluster. Theater of War 2- Africa 43 is also based off north africa, but is old af and very hard to play

@@simonmowatt well I'll concede: Commonwealth in East Africa I only know of multiplayer games like Forgotten Hope 2 and Mare Nostrum. But Op Torch has been featured in a few more games
the various operational art of war, sudden strike, combat mission 3, wargame design studio panzer campaigns, gary grigsby war in the west, order of battle, unity of command 1&2... there are a lot. But more desert war ww2 is always good
Barbed Wire Studios has done an amazing job. Honestly would be amazing to add campaigns and such from classic call or duty and Medal of Honor games. American troops in France, British troops in Africa, Battle of the Bulge, operation market garden, etc. The TV shows and films as well
I would like to see Poland faction in the game considering they fought on all frontlines of WW2 against Germany since 1939.
Depending on if it was West or East front they could use vehicles from Soviets or Allies. Tho, they had a few unique weapons like a 7TP light tank, TKS tankette, artillery or anti-tank rifles, and various planes if they wanted to show some missions from September 1939. Even have quite unique missions playing as Polish Home Army during occupation period.
My first thought was Painist movie too, but yeah, that Cafe sign says no, hopefull we'll see Poland in near future, Poland in WW2 games is pretty underrated and September of 1939 was starting point of WW2, as pretty popular poster from WW2 says "Poland first to fight". There is alot very interesting battles in 1939 between Poles, Nazis and Soviets (as it's worth to remember, on 17th of September, Soviet Forces crossed the border and invaded Poland cooperating with III Reich). Plus Polish divisons fought in almost every european front if I'm not wrong, depends how devs would do it they would fit in Market Garden scenario, Battle of Normandy, Warsaw Uprising, Monte Cassino, Tobruk, Operation Tempest, Battle of Berlin, Battle of Britian (I don't think they would ever put Battle of Britian tho, GOH isn't focused on aircrafts) , they were even in Battle of Narvik and alot more.
People think the only American Division in WW II was the 101st . Boring .
The new Liberation DLC already has a 6 mission campaign following both the 2nd Rangers and 3rd Armoured, I think an Airborne campaign is quite unavoidable
North African dlc and bigger maps and better airplanes' controls on bigger scales would make Gates of Hell perfect.
I personally would love to see the Canadians, yes bias included :)
My real reasoning is the battles Canada was in, its importance in major key areas, and lastly that when it comes too WW2 games, Canada (And many others) aren't represented often.
From the liberation of the Netherlands, its massive campaign in Italy, its major assistance in France, and its D-day landings. All 4 of these would make for great locations and really challenging campaigns, example being D-day, being the only faction to push the farthest in and facing SS troops.
You really had me at "Italy", cause I´m really looking forward for Italy, Finland, Hungary and Romania to join the game!

Barbed Wire Studios is one of the only game developers left that maintained its integrity even after seeing success. They haven't turned into a Chinese company by selling out to TenCent and they've consistently put serious effort into their post release content. For these reasons, I will buy anything they release for Gates of Hell. At the very least, maybe it will keep their company one that's true to the players.
I just don't get why with most ww2 games they don't have britain upon release 😭. Like i feel as if it takes forever for us to get added. It'd be really nice to see Britain in GoH, especially with some goofy ahh tanks. Like imagine its a battle set in '40 and a TOG 2 appears. Or even '44 and a churchill AVRE shows up.
I think the Brits are very cool; they have a huge amount of interesting vehicles, were in WW2 from 1939 onwards and fought all over from the Pacific, to Western Europe, Northern Europe (Norway) to Italy and Greece, North Africa and more

The Poland guess for the piano was an odd take by the community, but I have to say now it's been mentioned a Warsaw uprising campaign in an RTS would be incredible. Doesn't get much braver than the Polish home army in 1944.

I just want them to change up the dynamic conquest for co-op a little more than your buddy sharing the units you give him. Would love for them to give your joining player his own unit list to maintain.
I was in CCO 1-502 INF 2nd BCT "first strike" 101st ABN. From 2010-2013. We had a sick blackheart on our helmet cover. I feel like a old fart now.
they should add the Ustasha since they were in Stalingrad and they are also fighting in the last battle in Europe (the battle for odžjak) and that would also add other types of partisans who fought against them.
ey, the pianist was my idea... but yea the building behind being in French and I assume in Normandy debunks it, but a band of brothers style DLC would be amazing, continuing to expand US forces ( maybe even have a dedicated doctrine with airborne focused units unlike a mix we have now) and have some kind of band of brothers inspired story. I believe it will be a relatively small DLC which will expand on US and add or start including French, but hopefully it will pack a punch.
I bet you this comes out either with the June 6th D-Day Anniversary or the day the Battle of Carentan
The 6th seems really close; I mean, I could see it, but it would be VERY close imo - Carentan a few days later makes sense, that's about a week from now - but it might be later, I dont know if the devs always did historical date launches

It may be too much to ask for, but it would be great if the next DLC had two factions instead of just one. In the same dlc, British and Italians in North Africa, plus the African Korps, would be wonderful. Dreaming costs nothing...

New faction i predict either Italy for similar reasons stated in the video but also they fit the current map assets. Japan would be another good assumption for a future DLC. Mostly due to America already being added means adding a whole pacific campaign will be less of a big step.
But the fact they don't have to make a whole new US faction to fight them is kinda countered by the fact they'd have to make Pacific assets from scratch, that's a LOT of work I assume, so I don't know if Japan/Pacific is an "easy" next one for them. Especially not compared to any of the 3 I suggested, mostly for map asset reasons

A thing i really wish to be added in the Finnish faction would be the Swedish volunteers. I feel like it could serve similarly like the blue division we already have in Germany where they also could be given new small arms and uniforms along with maybe 1 or 2 missions where you play as them. One of them taking place during the winter war and the other one taking place during the battle of tali-ihantala
I guess the Estonian volunteers would also be an interesting to add but i dont know much about them really
And in band of brothers when they are going through Carentan...there is a very split second scene where some of the US Soldiers run by a piano just sitting upright in the street...so..id say thats pretty accurate as far as it being inspired by BoB. Also I very much agree that the Italians will be the next faction...and the UK will follow not too shortly afterward.

I bet this new DLC introduce paradrop mechanics and/or better urban warfare mechanics (the later would be part of the main game update that comes with every DLC)
I hope the next faction is going to be France, between the Battle of France in 1940, the collaborators against which the 1st ID had its baptism of fire with in North Africa, the Resistance and Free French Forces in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany, there is a lot of possibility for every game mode.
(And btw with the Brits, the French and iirc the Polish flag is in the faction selection banner you showed a couple time in this video, iirc there is also Japan lol)

I finally bought his a few weeks ago after watching videos for a year or so. It's brilliant, didn't realise they where still making new expansion packs. It seems like sudden strike games to me which is good. Just the medic being manual that annoys me.

i hope they do as much of WW2 as they can or all of WW2. I believe Call to Arms- Gates of Hell can do it. If factions has to be paid DLCs i'm fine with that to support development for more WW2 factions and fronts or theaters. I hope the free content is for current factions already in the game and already purchased faction DLCs some more historical battles or maps would be nice.

So true - I loved and modded the hell out of the MoW:AS2, but the MoW2 seems kinda... to tame for me...
i really wish we'd get the french for a faction, be it the actual french army or free france/resistance. they could do a lot of cool missions with them
The next faction DLC could be both Italy and Commonwealth forces.
Would love them both, as the Commonwealth could be cool faction next to Soviets and Americans, while Italy is an utter meme when it comes to MOST units, but some of them earned far more valor than other units grouped together...

ngl I would love to see the Hungarians added as they are very rarely spoken about or represented. Lots of very interesting battles fought by them throughout the war
Amazing video i hope the next faction will be France. However, one thing I noticed in their job description is that they indeed mention soldiers. If that's the case, I'm extremely excited!
Cheers mate! Idk to what degree they would differentiate VO wise between partisan/resistance fighter and soldier, its probably not very different from the VO perspective, but we'll have to see!

They also were the first country to get invaded (Early War Fights)
And with some 1944 Warsaw Uprising (as DLC) with minor CQB Missions/battles.
Also would be great to play as an partisan Army (IMO) 🇵🇱
I'm more than happy with GoH graphics, and while I know it'll never happen, I wish Gates of Hell would become sort of a 'Platform' with the base game being world war II, and DLC's that stretch into the korean war, and possibly further into the Vietnam war, or back to world war I.

I’d love to see the pacific theater honestly, as it’s the more distinct location that the average European invasion we all grew accostumed to. In second place I’d easily go for the African camapign, featuring Italians and Brits rather than Americans

@all the new DLC is not on the westfront, the goh team say on the discord this dlc we just hinted will only require Ostfront to play
but what if you got some of the Liberation assets "For free" with this DLC? They can separate some of the airborne for example
@@theShermanator i dont think ITS a free dlc i heard about a paid dlc. This comming dlc is one of two dlc's on Work at the Moment
A lot of people have discussed it on the GoH discord, of course the Western Front. And it will be about the 101 Airborne, that is the reason why the developers said that the DLC will not
About the liberation dlc. Only the Eastern Front is needed, with the Eastern Front in quotation marks. I think it's about the pionao and the Café Normandy is just a distraction

i hope they do poland there are alot of stories that arnt well know that took place in poland like the warsaw uprising and the danzig mail me hold out etc

Ye - but vanilla faction added means easier porting of files to other mods, which means making more models for that faction altogether :)
I love Valour; I really do; but the age on (some) models is showing, they don't play nice with some of the GoH assets
Nobody is stopping you from playing with Valour, and so far the GoH devs havent tried to take it down so I dont see why both cant exist
France could be interesting. Fighting Germany in 1940 then fighting Americans in operation torch
I feel if Romania is added it would be Romania, Hungary, and maybe Bulgaria as its own faction of Minor East Front Nations

Allies: France, USA, Great Britain, Poland, Soviets.
I think the next dlc is about Airbone Missions in the West, USA vs Germany.
The next Country dlc is maybe Italy or Hungary.
Because, Germany, Soviets basic game.
Than Finnland and than USA.
I think they will switch between Allies and Axis Powers.
In the Icons I just see Finland, Germany and Italy and Soviets, UK, USA. IDK where you see Japan, Hungary, France, Poland

I love this game and will support any DLC they come out with. Although I do wish they would improve AI behavior a bit. It definitely needs some work.

as an italian i always see ww2 game developers negelct Italy as a faction acting like is not unique or interesting for some reason maybe because it can't flex having iconic tanks like Tiger, Shermans or T34. but if you can dig deep into what italy had during the first 2 years of the war you realize that it's very unique and interesting. still hoping in a ww2 game that will make me roleplay as a Folgore division fighting in El Alamein. Not focussing on the north africa campaign is a waste of potential and focussing on "more of the same" theaters is mediocre but safe decision.

DLC was killer too
Don't get me wrong, CoD has had other good titles -- 2 was pretty good and kept close to the classic feel and MW1 was a welcomed shift.
But ultimately, after United offensive, they got shaky not really finding a direction. Popped out a couple decent titles (namely what I mentioned) but shit allover the rest.
CoD nowadays is nothing but a name and a joke

Really want to see an Italian and North African theatre! More interested in seeing the environments and maps than the nations that would fight in them in some respects :D but the Brits or Italians being introduced in these theatres would be epic too obviously.
My guess of timeline is:
- Airborne DLC first based on the teaser, (Minor DLC similar to Scorched Earth) focusing on a few airborne operations throughout the war. Could potentially introduce some other US airborne divisions outside of 82nd and 101st. Potentially some new terrain with Market Garden as well? I definitely think they will tease more in 2 days (June 6th) considering it's 80 years since D-Day, and that's exactly what they did when they first unveiled Liberation which was so hype. (side note - damn this year has flown fast)
- Next is French Forces DLC (This would be a medium to potentially smaller size DLC containing mostly early war stuff - it could be expanded with Free French Army units later on but this would be hard to not just feel like a copy of US forces in some respects) Already a few French tanks etc in the game which were pressed into German service against the USSR.
- 2026 starts by introducing a new theatre. My guess is North Africa, not sure on faction details yet but I would hope either Brits or Italians.
Really hoping for Italy....France before the fall would be really cool but after that boy that really is just frenchmen wearing american uniforms, driving american trucks,tanks,using american guns if they were to do add them at the same time along with Britain to have more meat there.

mod creators can grab a model from War Thunder or World of tanks and call it a day though, Devs arent doing that

Well, as the Main skin dev said in the interview and the studio has said - the Germans were the beginning, the Finns and Soviets are next at some point though they didn't see when

I really like gates of hell.. but tbh I still hate the devs for dropping call to Arms. Especially since you have to buy call to Arms to play gates of hell
They arent the same developers - DMS is the publisher, not creator/developer of GoH - and I agree, I didn't like how CtA was treated but I dont wanna hate on the BWS studio (devs of GoH) for something that they literally had nothing to do with sadly
Also, you no longer need to own or buy CtA to play GoH - been that way for a while
The italian flag showed in the multiplayer screen is actually the italian fascist flag (RSI) after 8 September 1943 so you shouldn't be able to fight germans with that faction

Always hits the spot to hear a yank talking about the British being added into a game as DLC in a game about the world wars, of course it is always necessary before adding an entire nation that single handily fought against the Germans for a number of years, to add the 101st who rolled up and saved the world.

I am not making any decisions about the game, I am simply saying that its easier for the developers to release this DLC (while they are working on a new faction, which, for all we know MIGHT be the British)
Companies need money, if the devs dont put out content, they cant eat, if they cant eat, they die, if they die, the game wont be updated
So TL;DR Brits MAY be next(?) but I have no choice in the matter lol - I simply stated why its easier for this next, smaller DLC to exist and I think the Brits have a big chance to be the next faction (or not, Im just guessing)

@@theShermanator removed being able to fight a random faction every battle which was the best thing about it. when using valour you could defend from waves of shermans only to capture a few and use them to assault enemy points while getting bombarded by brittish long range artillery, then capture those and fight off waves of t-34 and kv-1. now its just "wow another t-34 just like the previous 5 matches, maybe i can add it to my other 10 i still have in stockpile"

Which previous titles? I have never played a game by the same devs, this is their first game.
You can say MOWAS 1 and 2 had more factions, sure, MOWAS 2 literally was a copy/paste of MOWAS 1 (literally) besides the fact it didn't run on Gamespy, had Steam workshop integration and had some minor changes as far as I remember and maybe a few extra minor missions - I do wonder where MOWAS 1 vehicles came from, maybe Japan/UK were made by the devs at the time but werent USA, RU and GER stuff from OG MoW? I'd have to look into that I guess
As was said by one of the developers; they are completely remaking everything from scratch for these new factions, its not like they just press the "port" button to get 300 tanks from Japan, UK and USA into GoH from MOWAS1/2

There's so few WW2 games with French, and everything they have from planes to tanks to small arms were so unique compared to everyone else.
Every single damn WW2 game has the same generic Russia/British/USA/Germany/Italy. France is so often left out.
Hell look at Enlisted. Gaijin decided they'd rather try and balance a Japanese tank lineup against America than to add a French faction.
France is also left out from company of heroes, and so many other games. Really only vehicle MMOs like War Thunder or WoT give France any attention.
Sorry fellow French enjoyer, best you can get is from modded content which isn’t the worst but is serviceable for some mods like the ww1 one
