So glad you’re reacting to this show, this show is criminally underrated.

In hindsight and knowing everything that happens going forward, finding Julie is just such a “what if” moment.
You’d never know it at the time, but Holden and Miller walking into that room… it changed the course of the history of the entire universe. Forever.

The shoot out scene is great, music, environment..
As Errinwright said describing this black ops mission: "random street violence". The best part is that "Blue Falcon" is Military slang for "informant" i.e. snitch..

    Great reaction and analysis!
Even though this still has many unanswered questions, the pieces of the puzzle are coming together. Strap in and hold on, it's about to get wild!

In the book Miller is even more complicated character and on top a corrupt cop who lost desire for life or his job.
Julie is Millers obsession. Sometimes it is easier to couping with people that are strangers, in Millers case a mysterious girl on a mission, then people you see or interact everyday.
Miller definitely hopes till the end somehow to save her and bring her home and is finally devastated to fail to do so. It takes his new found passion/obsession and purpose.

Since I have seen this I tend to forget the hope that everyone has of finding Julie alive and ready to maybe join the team. Through reactions I end up feeling that hope dashed again and again. Why do I put myself through this? Because it is an awesome show!

This is really where the story starts. The ground has been laid, the world has been fleshed out, the pieces are coming together.

For my money, Miller isn't really in love with Julie, but he is totally wrapped up in the hope that somebody like her is out there fighting the good fight. Pretty devastating to find out that this is where her good intentions led her.

I'm pretty sure that Miller is in love with at least his mental image/version of Julie.

Julie was Miller's Dulcinea (the title of the first episode). Dulcinea was Don Quixote's imaginary ideal woman who spurred on his adventures as an imaginary knight.

Whether as a celebrity or outlaw, Holden is famous around the system.
I like how Amos has a sixth sense about reading a room for danger.

Let me mention that although this season has its "season finale," Book 1 doesn't end until the middle of the second season. So the season finale is a critical point, but it's not the conclusion of this particular story arc.

Yeah, you should definitely read the books if you're interested in them! There are 9 books total, plus a collection of novellas/short stories. I'm actually on my second read-through of the books right now, and I have gotten back to book 8, called "Tiamat's Wrath". The books are fantastic, and they play out differently from the show, but they give you a ton more background and context for things happening in the show!!!

Buckle up the ride doesn't stop from here.
The first few episodes are slow world building, the next few are putting the pieces in place for the Julie Mao reveal and he roller coaster that comes after.

@@hoos3014 what are you talking about, I've said nothing about future episodes, the Julie Mao reveal was in THIS episode, and I was clearly describing the beginning of season one up to this point.

Miller is making a voyage of faith, just like the Mormon. He's given up his whole life to go out and find Julie.
He's got to be wondering what happens if he gets out there and can't find her, or if like Dawes said, she would spit in his face if she met him.
And it's worse. It's way worse. He's got all the way out there, and there is no God, his faith hasn't been rewarded. What will he do now?
The other religions are still going, but the Mormons are the ones with very specifically space-based beliefs.

Hey Imon, great insights. Your audio is really low though. I think you could make your videos much better quality with just a little more care. I couldn't actually hear you on my computer over background noise without using headphones. I would suggest doing a little reading or looking at how-to videos regarding audio levels, mixing, compression and metering.

I have been working really hard on the audio issue, and have bought a new mic and interface to help. Because whatever I was doing was just not working. If I take away the hiss then the volume goes to low. its been s struggle so I appreciate you al for sticking by even with these annoying audio issues but going forward pretty soon this won't be a problem.

Already see some comment expessing viewpoints on Miller's love for Julie. So, here's my 2 cents. I don't think he's in love with her in a mere physical manner. He loves her spirit and what she represents.
While Julie is dead, we haven't finished learning about her. Keep what I am saying about how much Miller admires Julie's spirit. See, if you don't agree?
I think that by the middle of season 2, you will have seen enough to believe there's merit in my point. Maybe, he was attracted to her, but I think it's more about who she is....and who is she? You'll see soon. 😁

Just me, or are the audio levels like, _always_ off with this channel? Like, I had to double the gain on this tab just to hear her voice without cranking my general volume up. Every single time I try to peep her Expanse videos, it's a rollercoaster of volume adjustment between her voice, the episode she's included, or both. I enjoy the channel, but the volume levels are always a detriment... Does she not proof the video that she's editing? 😒
