- It was awesome to do a video on Jack's 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400. The exhaust on this thing sounds great! Can't go wrong with an American v8 with a 4-speed transmission. The cutouts on this car are made by Spelab (not sponsored haha).

Sometimes it all comes together and a car just has "the look". This Formula has it for sure!. The OG wheels with the staggered size rubber, lowered just a bit, killer non-TA body style is super clean, ,too. Not an LS...even better!
Love seeing you young guys get into this. I had a 58 Vette with a 327 4 speed with knock-offs when I was 20, but I had to crawl under the car to open them up. Sounded awesome going down Pismo beach. Great job (as usual) on the video Ben. Keep it up.
Ben- you are SOOO right about the old PMD Rally wheels. They look perfect on that car. I am 52, and I'm so sick of the "stick a big set of Hoopty wheels on a muscle car" formula. your buddy nailed it! Reminds me of the cars rolling around back in the 80's when I was in high school.

Formula and Trans Am are both performance tier Firebirds. But TA have additional sport "looks", so not just the shaker hood, but also wheel spoilers all around and the aluminum swirl dash, huge decals (mid 70s-81)...and some other little things here and there
Awesome Firebird. Love the fact he kept it pretty much stock. A great budget build. I had a ‘71 Firebird Esprit with T/A body kit many years ago, weren’t worth a lot back then couldn’t afford to by it now😂

love Flowmasters, had a 66 mustang with a stock 289 and that sound was awesome. my stereo broke and I didn't bother to replace it for 6 months because I loved listening to that motor. downshifts into WOT were 😍

Those 15s look Tough as Nails, great choice. Cutouts have always been fun, just don't abuse 'em, LOL. The diesel guys Rolled SOOO much Coal people got sick of thier shit and forced the Feds to do something drastic. Now they're screwed

Yessir... and she's got a Pontiac heart❤beat too. Nothing finer than a Pontiac V8 with 4 speed and some positive traction. I got a 79 Formula very similar setup.

That vid came out pretty bad ass! I always do cutouts in my keeper cars just for that purpose. If you want to Get Down , hit the button. If you want to stay chill, close em up! That car was bad ass too! PBG
I drove my 68 firebird 400 to the muffler shop on open headers after engine rebuild to get mufflers. Omg it was crazy loud. My hooker headers didn’t last long before being damaged due to ground clearance being a bit to optimistic. I switched to the Pontiac high performance caste manifolds. I should have used the Pontiac factory high performance branched manifolds to begin with because they rest neatly with plenty of ground clearance. Way better than the restrictive stock exhaust manifolds and more durable than custom tubes. On top of that the Pontiac manifolds don’t cook your starter and engine bay like headers.
I put a Varex Muffler in my car and threw away the key fob and receiver and wired it up into the car using an OEM looking power window switch. You just need to find a power wire and the rest of the wiring up is pretty easy straight forward, hold up for a couple seconds for loud, and down for quiet.
Sounds like a pontiac 455 with a Ram Air 4 cam. Neat car.

Louder dose not equal better. It's fine for a track, not on public roads. Now having said that, nothing better than an old school muscle car with that 4 bbl wide open throttle sound coming from under the hood.

Another difference between the Formula and Trans Am is the dashboard. The T/A has a fake machine turned dash and the Formula has a fake woodgrain dash 😉

Back in my prehistoric days, we had cutouts too but they were manual ones. JMHO, but cutouts really can't duplicate the sound of open headers at the strip. If you have the chance, go to the drags and watch the sportsman category. Now, that's open headers!

The way the speech was cut out and the fact it's cammed as well makes your opinion and his completely unreliable.
