We bought land and need to dig out a driveway. We are digging it out by hand, and although it is tough, sometimes seeing no progress, we are now seeing it take shape made by our own hands and that gives susch a feeling of accomplishment and we will drive up it every day knowing we did that. Beautiful back yard! I saw you put pavers because you didn't want to take care of grass. If you decide one day to put greenery back in, I think especially in your area you should look for and find a succulent ground cover called "russchia lineolata" or Russchia Nana. You can even drive over it!

It was so satisfying to watch this transformation. And heartwarming to see 3 generations working together! I love the way you always show "chipping away" at projects. We've been painting our home room by room this year and it's sometimes been hard to pace ourselves because I just want it all finished. I could leave my carrots in the ground over winter and they still grew. We were in San Diego. There is a tree called the strawberry tree whose fruit taste like a combo of strawberries and bananas that grow So. California. It is looking Gorgeous!

Your yard is so pretty! Your hard work is paying off! We just re-did our back yard. We are retired so we wanted it as maintenance free as possible. We took most of the grass out and on the edges we brought in landscape fabric and beautiful river rock. What a difference. I have raised bed gardens where we can grow some of our own food. I love it!

Nothing keeps the weeds out. Perhaps use some pre emergent granules in your mulch. Weed seeds blow and land on top of the mulch and start. Also birds drop seeds. The yard looks amazing.
