Wow, everything is beautiful. Grant is so creative and talented at landscaping. The mosaic with the focal point log is gorgeous. His little helper is so sweet. It’s amazing how fast everything grows where you live. I’m in Wisconsin so after the Fall work, I’ll be entering the quiet time for gardening. I laughed when you said you are the clean up crew. That’s often my role too. Have a great Sunday! ❤😊❤

Just thinking about the amount of patience it took for Grant to do this miraculous job makes my brain explode. Well done!
I’m sad that people are so quick to make negative comments. You handled the comments about the kids and the grass so graciously.

When I was growing up we had a big backyard that my Dad transformed with cement, rocks, trees, bushes, flowers & vegetables. He even built us a small cement swimming pool! It was a glorious place! You & Grant have done the same thing and your boys will love it and remember it always ❣️

Absolutely stunning. Your family, of course kids included will be enjoying a garden that will constantly evolve as plants grow and birds and bees will add lovely sound. People that are stuck in “lawn mode” will never be convinced but what you have done and plan to do is a much more environmentally friendly way to garden as well as beautiful. I went this way maybe 15 years ago and was a rare sight in my neighbourhood, now there are many less lawn front yards than used to be. Lots of creative gardens and even veggies out in front of the house, because, why not? Great job Shannon and Grant

Love the rock art border/path! Looks beautiful!!!! Plenty of families don't live in homes with large grass yards for their kids to run around on and they're just as happy as kids who do. We lived in a townhouse when our kids were small (no yard) and we'd go to playgrounds and parks often so they'd have time to run around. I love what you've done with all of your outdoor space. Happy Fall! 😊🧡

Your yard is so peaceful and lovely. We’ve lived in two different houses with huge yards. I can honestly say my two sons rarely ran around the yards! We had a swing-set, sandbox and basketball net when they were younger and they rarely used these things. Living in Chicago we have a short season for yards!

It's beautiful. Reminds me of a botanical garden in Prague, or magical gardens other people used to have. No grass, just rocks, archways, fairy houses, little ponds, rockways, stepstones, bushes, trees. And I was a little child back then. I admired the fantasy behind it too.

(😊 I thought I would leave another comment bc it looked like my first ones disappeared again. About that time, you had shared that youtube wasn't play your video or something. Anyway...
Maybe it was just a glitch.)
I had originally said that Grant did a beautiful job on the mosaic pathway! Wow. He sure does use his creative mind as an artist and.
builder to bless his family. I've always had a great love of rocks.Ha ha, but seriously just different pebbles and rocks and things made with rocks make me happy. Sometimes I just marvel at houses that have a stone entryway or boulders as landscaping.
How unique also, that he had a plan in his mind and spent time collecting rocks on your different adventures.
I have a tiny collection of rocks from a few places we've went in colorado and south dakota. In south dakota when we visited crazy horse In mount rushmore , they allowed families to take one rock from the mountain per family member. They had a big bin outside of the Monument, and even though there were 4 of us, we selected 3 as to not look greedy. Ha ha ...any way, they are just maybe the size of a cantaloupe, but it's neat knowing that they came off of the mountain and I have them by our front door with a garden flag. Then I have 3 smaller rocks sitting on the cedar chest in our bedroom closet. They came from colorado... One was from pike's peak, another from the royal gorge, and the final one from the garden of the gods. You can tell the difference because of the colors & minerals. Our son-who was eighteen at the time-selected the one on pike's peak for me. It just fits in the palm of your hand but it's in the shape of a triangle. I took a photo of him washing it off as he found it and I remember he said, "Mom, this will remind you of the mountain because it's pointed."❤🏔Love my boy!! Now 27. Sweet memories!!!!

Hi Julia, I always love getting your comments. I don't know what is up with TH-cam. A lot of people have been saying their comments disappear and also they become unsubscribed. Now, this video isn't going out to anyone. It's very weird lately! Grant is the same way with rocks he collects pretty rocks from almost everywhere we go. He finds rocks in the shape of hearts and gives them to me. I just love it! That is so sweet of your son I love little thoughtful gestures like that. And now you will always think of that story when you see the rock. I hope you are having a nice week =)

    • @juliab628
      @juliab628 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Awww, Shannon, thank you, yes... I remember the story like yesterday & it was July 2015 that Zachery did that with the Pike's Peak rock❤ How sweet of your husband to give you the ♡ 🪨 rocks! And that he loves rocks as a remembrance, too. There is just something about rocks....I have one tiny heart rock that I found in the shape of a heart around our 20th anniversary. I think our son & your husband might be extra sentimental that way & it is extra special.
I hope that the TH-cam glitches resolve soon! Your hard work putting together this video alone needs to be recognized 😊Don't worry, if I get unsubscribed, I'll notice it & subscribe right back. Only your channel & a few others are special to me. Happy Thursday!

I love how your back yard looks. As for the comment from someone regarding no grass for your kids - kids have been playing for CENTURIES without lawns, they weren't even a thing before the 1900's except for the EXTREMELY wealthy. Kids can always find a way to play - I had a huge back yard with grass, and my 3 kids spent all their time in the drainage ditch that was full of boulders and in the forest bordering our yard. People are so bizarre.

Grew up in CA on .75 acre, no grass anywhere. My dad did an amazing job landscaping with trees, flowers, bushes and ground cover. It was paradise. I wish I’d been able to do this when my own kids were young, but my husband is a lawn guy.

Agree. Grass not necessary. I spent my growing up time in the grape arbor and climbing trees.

Also had a sandbox. And the garden, of course.
